Il Pavone in Glasgow City

Came here for dinner. Nice pizza, pasta and beer. Good service. It was very quiet as it was only 5 o'clock. Not sure of the price as my friend paid. I would go back.

Bought an itison deal for £18 which gave a pizza, pasta or Risotto dish for two. Ordered a focaccia to share to start and I chose a padrina pizza normally priced at £16.95 so the meals were actually buy one get one almost free. Good portions and very good service. We had a glass of wine each which I regard as overpriced but good nevertheless. Meal was good but the general location is not as vibrant as once was which detracted from the experience. Good meal but would not wish to pay full price. Would go back on a deal but no more.

Delicious ravioli with spinach, ricotta and sage, my friend had the tomato ravioli, both perfectly cooked. Service was excellent as usual. We shared the sticky toffee pudding which was light and delicious. One of my favourite restaurants.

Excellent Itison meal pre-theatre. Very good pasta and pizza. Friendly staff too. Will definitely try again another time.

Ate here today with my wife for lunch, lovely friendly welcome, great service and delicious food. Even had a couple of cocktails too. Highly recommended. Can't wait to revisit and do it all again soon.

So you definitely won't get full there. Huge plates with small portions. The price-performance ratio is underground. I've actually eaten out many times in Germany, Austria, the UK, Northern Europe and the USA and have always been full. Of the occasional not-so-great restaurants, this made the top five. I can only follow the 1 star reviews.

First Class restaurant in all aspects. Very impressive professional and friendly attitude. Excellent food and wine. I have dined in many countries and am proud that Glasgow can boast a restaurant of this quality.

Came in towards the end of the night for my partners birthday. Immediately we were welcomed with banter which continued throughout the stay (this was Marco and his brother in law). Food was impeccable and well priced for the quality, and when asked to sort out a wee cake as a surprise from my partner’s birthday they had no issue sorting it as well as some lemoncello drinks at the end! We will 1000% come back again!

My family and I enjoyed this spot for our lunch at the weekend. It was very busy and the restaurant was a bit spread out but the service was good which meant we weren't missed. The food was excellent and they catered very well for gluten free. Our kids were made to feel welcome and there is plenty of space for them to move about. I'd recommend and will go back!

Came here for my mother’s birthday lunch as the restaurant holds many happy memories to her. From the moment we arrived, we got her requested table and they gave a us a round of complimentary Proseccos. The staff in particular the manager were very friendly and professional. They accidentally mixed up a drink order and not only immediately corrected it, they also gave us the mistaken drink instead of disposing of it as other establishments would have, another unnecessary yet kind gesture. The food was very good with a good range of 2 & 3 course daily specials to the standard A La Carte to choose and even offering varying portion sizes. You can tell why this restaurant has seen all others fail over the years which is a shame as Princess Square used to be a lovely bustling centre but sadly no more. Keep up the great service and quality and thank you from all of us, we and I particularly our mother had an amazing visit.

It was quite possibly the worst food I've ever had in Glasgow. I had gotten the ravioli, and it was somehow both overcooked and raw at the same time. Morrisons would have fresher pasta. The waiters were nice, but after collecting my dishes, I waited 15 minutes before I had to flag someone down in order to pay. My shopping day after was cut short because I felt so ill from what I had eaten that I had to go home.

The food is unreal and has become our new fave Italians in Glasgow. All the dishes that our party ordered were delicious! Often when we order anything with truffle in it at other restaurants you cannot taste the truffled whereas Il Pavone definitely don’t scrimp on it. Delicious! The service was second to none. We have a young baby with us too and they were fab. Special mention to Debbie who is a real credit to Il Pavone. She was so friendly and attentive and didn’t stop all day whilst still being smiley and vibrant! Thanks again! Can’t wait to come back!

First time being here but definitely won’t be our last. We’re greeted with a lovely member of staff who showed us to our table. Drinks order taken very quickly. Ordered our food. Omg it was absolutely delicious. Smoked Salmon pasta with delicious pizza. Honestly can’t praise this restaurant enough. Staff super friendly and helpful, food amazing. The place had a lovely buzz about it and was very busy which was great to see. Met manager who was just lovely and chatted away to us for ages. Can’t wait to return. Well done guys.

I think this may actually be my all-time favourite pasta dish. I think it was called Fettuccine Pavone, but I may be wrong. Whatever the name, it will take some doing to beat the combination of scallops and black pudding in a divine sauce. My granddaughter's lasagne was perfect, too, and the portions were generous. We went on a Saturday at 2 pm(ish), and we were lucky to get a table. I would definitely recommend booking, it's so worth it.

Had a wonderful experience at Il Pavone for a late birthday lunch. There is now a set menu which was very affordable and had good options for us both,food all extremely flavoursome delivered by a charming efficient waitress called Gabriella in a timely manner. For a central Glasgow restaurant in lovely surroundings of Princes Square this restaurant delivers exceptional good value,high quality food and wonderful service. Will definately be returning.

Went for lunch, I asked for one of the seafood spaghetti dishes but with no prawns due to an allergy. Food arrives, but from a different waitress that took our order, lo and behold, there’s prawns in it. I said to waitress 2 that there was meant to be no prawns, she replies “that’s not prawns, that’s scampi.” .. obviously no idea. Now, if it wasn’t for the instant attitude from waitress 2 i’d not have bothered leaving a review, but i was made to feel like i was the maniac in this situation. i said “that is prawns” she said “no. that’s scampi” i said “yes. scampi is prawns”. this goes on for a while. Eventually, dish gets taken back to kitchen. Waitress 2 comes back and says “just to let you know, they’re not actually prawns, they’re langoustine tails”. Waitress 2 if you’re reading this, please can you google what scampi/prawns/langoustine tails are. First waitress comes back, she’s polite but tells us if we had asked for no prawns and no scampi then it would have been fine. Apparently asking for no prawns isn’t quite enough. Waitress 1 if you’re reading this, please can you google what scampi/prawn/langoustine tails are. Anyway, after about 20 mins i do get my lunch and it was very nice. But if i, for whatever reason, didn’t know that scampi and langoustines were in fact prawns, it would have been a very different situation indeed. Again, things happen and mistakes are made, but I’ve worked in hospitality all my life and i know you don’t need to speak to customers that way. Would like to stress that waitress 1 (that took our order) was very polite and apologised. Waitress 2 … not so much. Most importantly, the chefs should know that prawns/scampi/langoustines are all the same. Nice food, mediocre service, potentially lethal lunches.

Very good ambience, starters and desserts were yum but main course not upto the mark. Comparing the main course with other italian places in Glasgow it's not that good. Vegetarians have limited options.

What can I say "outstanding " in every way!

Really nice restaurant with friendly staff. The food tasted nice but the only disappointment was it wasn't very warm. The soup and main course was only just warm and the garlic bread was cold.

Good food, good service, can be a little drafty as it is generally open to the inside of the shopping centre.

First time trying Il pavone as a family. Food was superb and good portions. The staff were excellent and very attentive. The place was so busy but the staff were all smiling and very helpful. Keep up the good work. We will definitely be returning again.

I'd say the cuisine was average. I wouldn't call it authentic. Being an Italian restaurant, the pizza was not as good as expected. I only eat or buy pizza made in a traditional clay oven. I could tell their pizza wasn't cooked in one. Saying that the service was good. The waitress was friendly and helpful. Despite the fact that the meal was subpar, it brightened our day. I would advise the owner to take a closer look at the quality and originality of their pizzas.

Hubby had to send his pasta back as it was lukewarm..Lady and young gent who served us , could not be more helpful and accommodating.Wine pricey now….£25 for a bottle of House white….I had the soup of the day , as a starter….amazing flavour and piping hot.

So, this is meant as constructive criticism. We were were one of three sets of customers at 7:30. I get it must be frustrating but the attempts to get us out were clumsy and ill mannered. It hadn’t got off to a great start with one of the ‘senior’ staff asking ‘Youse, wanting a drink’ followed by him forgetting what the soup of the day was. Rather than find out , he said ‘it’s got coconut & spices’ ??? When we ordered a bottle of wine we were told ‘You know we’re closing at 9:30 ?’ We weren’t offered coffee never mind dessert menu . At 9 they sent the young waitress to tell us they were closing in 10 mins. £150 for four of us to be treated like unwanted down and outs. Food nothing special. It will be a cold day in hell when I return. Sorry, forgot the constructive bit… sort out a process to deal with when your restaurant is almost empty but you want your customers money but to keep them happy.

Lovely food here today, amazing ambience and service, the Anti Pasti was lush, and the two staff a young man and a young lady, didn’t get their names, were so friendly and chatty. When they didn’t recognise our accents as local they were genuinely interested in why we were visiting, to be fair everyone in Glasgow was super friendly too 👍

A more authentic Italian food experience, lovely fresh pizzas perfectly cooked. Spaghetti bolognése tastes slow cooked full of flavour and not tough. This was our first visit but will definitely be back. We turned up without a booking and they were happy to accommodate. I would however advise a booking as the place was constant with customers and was full.

Treated my son to early dinner for his birthday and it was absolutely lovely from the service to the food, will definitely be returning

Good service and excellent staff. Great location as well. Food was average. Pizza base was poor. Portion sizes are average. Not sure if they were frozen. Drinks are overpriced as well.

I have come here for many years and have not been disappointed but I am sorry to say that I think they are now victim to increasing costs quality for both wine and food was just not there.

Having been in Glasgow for a while now and after visiting a number of Italian restaurants I wouldn't say that Pavone is one of the top ones. It is inside Princes Square but the food is average compared to other places and not something that stands out. It reminds the food of Italian food chains. During our visit, service was good and didn't have any issues.

Il Pavone is a Glasgow institution. We dined here tonight on the 5pm menu. What excellent value for money. Top quality food, excellent service and a great ambience.

Amazing meal tonight. Way too much for me as I needed to leave room for pudding! Food was delicious and freshly cooked. Staff were so attentive. Well deserved 5 stars 👏

Visited with my friend after a day shopping in Glasgow, 23/2/23 Situated in Princes Square, attractive looking restaurant. We arrived and were welcomed and shown to a lovely booth. Waitress very helpful. Ordered our meal from extensive selection , plus unusually you can choose a smaller portion on most meals , which is fantastic as not always want larger portion. Food was delicious had Lasagna , terrific mixed salad and fries too Couldn't recommend highly enough. Owner came over to see if everything ok. And had enjoyed our meal. Definitely will be back . Great value, great fresh cooked food.

The 5pm deal was two courses and a small drink for £17.95. The last time we ate here the wine was £11 a glass!. I hope they have realised the error in there ways any way there food is fantastic. Just watch the drink prices

manager was a lil rude but was good, the waitress Megan was absolutely lovely, cocktails were good but after our second round of cocktails, was informed that the manager wasn’t serving us anymore drinks, and gave the waitress into trouble for interacting with us which i thought was really rude and felt a lil uncomfortable, other than that the food was roasting and good :) only gave three stars because I’m still getting use to eating more than lil bites and that all just made it a bit uncomfortable but was all good anyway :)

We went here this evening for a friends birthday. The food was nice, but the service was utterly shocking! We had three wait staff, one female and one male both very nice and good at their job. The owner or part owner Marco was shocking!...

My husband enjoyed lasagne. Great portion size and large hand cut chips. I had Caruso risotto which was perfectly cooked. Enjoyed sharing an ice cream Sundae.

I went to this restaurant for lunch with my Mum and we both had a ravioli pasta dish. It was exceptional and the young woman serving us, who I think was called Polly, was very friendly and professional. I will definitely be coming here again.

The pizzas we had seemed to be a frozen base as it was poor quality, the pasta was actually pretty good that we both had. All in all a bit underwhelming could be much better. Drinks cost seems pretty expensive as well.

Was up in Glasgow for business and came across this busy Italian restaurant for a Monday afternoon. From being welcomed at the door to the food and service everything was fantastic!…I will definitely being visiting this place again on my next visit!…well done guys.

Bruschetta was basic, looking like a garlic bread with a few tomatoes chucked on. Pasta sauce was tasteless and couldn’t eat the tortellini as it was disgusting. Probably the worst meal I’ve ever had out. First and last visit for us.
