This is a fabulous Italian restaurant with excellent food and service. We visit 3 or 4 times a year when staying at Chatsworth caravan site. We have never been disappointed;our evening at il lupo is one of the highlights of our stay. Just love their spinach and ricotta canelloni which seems to have disappeared off many italian menus since lockdown. The proprietor is very welcoming and provides efficient service in a warm welcoming ambience. Will definitely return in 2025. Highly recommend.

Always receive a warm welcome, and the food is absolutely divine. If you have not visited, it's an absolute must. The staff are excellent, treating you like family.

Booked for a Friday night, did not disappoint, my starter, fennel sausage was to die for, could have eaten that all day long…………. Food was tasty, service was attentive, value was good; compared to places in local area was much better value; good food, good drink, good service, will go back

Visited Derbyshire for a few days and came upon this Italian restaurant. A very welcoming space the food ,wine and atmosphere was just amazing . Both my husband and I both had the chicken on the special menu, the service was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re staying in the area.

We discovered Il Lupo on holiday in the Peak District and ended up visiting twice. Food was delicious, staff were friendly and helpful and nice family-friendly atmosphere. We wish we lived closer!

Wow! What a lovely restaurant. I’m coeliac so eating out isn’t always easy. The menu was huge and I was told by the manager he could do most things on the menu gluten free. The restaurant was really busy with a lovely atmosphere would definitely recommend and we will return when we visit Baslow again.

5 stars from me. This restaurant is very charming, rustic, and traditional. I enjoyed the atmosphere inside and the staff were lovely. Food was delivered to our table all at once; there were 8 of us, and the restaurant was busy. We all had empty plates, the food was of excellent quality and reasonably priced. We left feeling well fed and all agreed we would return.

We booked a table for 6 adults and 2 children and we all agreed it was the best evening meal we had on our week's holiday. (we ate out every evening). The choice of mains was immense and the desserts choice was amazing. For example, I had pistachio profiteroles with pistachio ice cream, scrumptious. I wish we had a restaurant like this in Surrey. Also, worth pointing out that we had a table booked but the local electricity company had to cut their power off. Marco the manager rang me to let me know and rearranged our booking, We had booked outside, on the day it was extremely windy and Marco rang me again to tell me and booked us inside. Great service from Marco and also his staff on the evening.

Great find. Lovely location. Friendly service. Good portions and the food price was reasonable. Some of the food was great, like the mushroom risotto, but some of the items from the stone oven came out a bit over cooked.

Booked Il Lupo over a month ago. Arrived on time, waited a short time to be shown to our table. 40minutes passed and we still hadn’t been asked for our order. We left in total disgust without even being noticed. Enough said!!!

Wow, what a fabulous experience at Il Lupo. Very cosy, clean, friendly and covid safe. The wine, a Merlot, was very smooth and delicious. We had calamari, breads and olives to start which were very generous portions and melt in the mouth calamari. Cannelloni and a meat calzone for main course, again big portions and delicious. Ice cream, lemon tart and cappuccinos to end this amazing meal. Thank you, will be back when we visit Baslow again.

We ate here twice recently whilst staying in the area. The staff were friendly and welcoming and both the food and service exccellent. All Covid requirements were adhered to. Highly recommended and would love to visit again when in the area. Booking is advisable.

After doing an 8km walk today we had built up a healthy appetite so were thrilled to find this place - so much choice available.The pasta was delicious and the house wine was lovely too. Such a nice clean place with really friendly staff. When we are next in the area, we will definitely be coming for dinner

We happened to be passing and was lucky enough to get a table. We were very impressed with both the food and service. Every dish we chose was amazing and great portion sizes! Would definitely recommend and if ever in the area would certainly go again without a doubt.

We booked this place for a birthday meal whilst we were staying in baslow for the week !!We were greeters warmly and all the staff were covid safe with masks and cleaning etc !!The food was amazing all the portions from starters to main courses were really generous and the flavours were beautiful!!Could not fault any of it plus we had a great house white wine and beers !!The prices also were really good and we would definantly would recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely meal !!

First visit to this wonderful restaurant in Baslow, whilst staying in Derbyshire. Warmly welcomed on arrival and ordered drinks in the small bar area, before being seated in the main restaurant. Food was delicious - seafood pasta and an ‘American’ pizza, followed by tiramisu - all well cooked with high quality ingredients. Service was excellent. Really enjoyable evening and highly recommended.

Very good authentic Italian. From walking in, the decor gives you that true Italian feel. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was excellent, must recommend the meat calzone and lasagne. Peroni and moretti available, superb thanks guys. Give them a visit you won’t be disappointed

A Saturday in April we stopped for coffee on their terrace in the sun. Seeing others eating and commenting on the food we stayed for an early dinner. We were delighted that we did. Excellent pizza (bordolese), outstanding sea bass with sides coffee and wine - less than £50 simply incredible. We'll be back.

Very friendly little place. Called in early evening whilst visiting Bakewell. Great pizzas and even better homemade ice cream.

Staying nearby and decided to try something different to the local pubs. Wonderful and friendly service with proper social distancing. The food was excellent, didn’t expect anything like this, all authentic and so glad we booked. Would thoroughly recommend and there’s a car park just across the road if you need it.

I visited the restaurant with my boyfriend today. We had a starter to share and a pasta dish each as our main. The service was fantastic and the food was absolutely incredible, could definitely tell it was fresh. Will definitely be returning. 15/10!!

Went on the basis of the TA reviews and we were definitely not disappointed. Very friendly staff and great service. The food was exceptional and helpings huge. Ordered a mozzarella and tomato starter and it was main course size. Plus fresh and tasty. For mains, my wife had a cannelloni which she loved and I had a chilli flavoured spaghetti with anchovies. Awesome. Ambience - great attention to detail. Prices very fair especially considering the quantities. Couldn’t fault!

We rang on speck to see if we could get in, so glad we did, it was excellent. Staff brilliant very attentive - gorgeous food.A question below asks if the condiments are single use, the answer is no - they are sanitised after use - just to be clear on that point.

Due to circumstances and restrictions we haven't been able to get to our favourite restaurant for a while,so this was an overdue visit that lived up to the very high standard we have always experienced here. The food is exceptional, as is the service and smooth running of this quality traditional Italian restaurant. We have a great respect for the hard work and dedication, this wonderful team put into providing an amazing dining experience.The best Lasagna in the world in our opinion. !!

Pleasant restaurant in a beautiful village. Good attentive waiting staff and a good menu. Food good but I think our previous dining experiences had made it more difficult for later restaurants as we had been so spoilt. Still very enjoyable though.

My husband and I shared the antipasti platter. As it didn't come with bread we asked for some and was surprised to be told they had run out. It was only 6.30. Got some garlic bread. Chorizo and hummus are not really Italian but were in the platter.My husband's pasta dish had very little chicken in it and mine was very bland. No offer of black pepper or Parmesan. Wine was good as was the espresso.I don't think I would return.

Our local Italian... the reason we moved to Baslow. We’ve been coming to il Lupo since the very early days when me and my wife were dating, some 7 or so years ago and have never been disappointed. Fantastic food, great atmosphere but in these uncertain times due to coronavirus, they are limited to take away only... and it’s lovely. We had great pizzas and salad tonight at home, rather than in their lovely restaurant, but it’s at time like these you need to support your local businesses... so calling people of Baslow... eat from il Lupo!!!

We had a takeaway today to celebrate Mother’s Day at home. Food was delicious and packaged well for the journey home. Would recommend. Great to support local independent businesses.

Came with family, very nice relaxed atmosphere and cozy restaurant. Had the 3 course lunch, good choice of starters and mains, the lasagne was delicious, a bigger choice of sweet would have just finished it off, so ordered that from the main menu. Good value , will definitely come again

I wanted an Italian, and I wanted Liver cooked Italian style. I found that my arms were wet when I leaned on the table. I complained and the waiter immediately cleaned the table (apparently it was sanitiser, and somebody had been a bit enthusiastic, but not to careful).I ordered the Liver (Fegato in Italian). It tasted and looked just like my mother used to cook it. The problem was that my mother was not Italian, And the meal was not very Italian. In fact my mother would have done better.Spent the rest of the evening feeling very bloated. Not impressed, will not go there again.

Wasn’t that impressed with the external appearance, but decided to try it anyway. What a delight. My wife and I shared a bruschetta for starters, it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. We both had an excellent cannelloni for our main. We were too full to eat a dessert. I’m not sure what the reviewers ate that were saying it was very expensive we found it very reasonable for quality food. Our meal with a bottle of peroni and a bottle of house red was about £35. I call that value for money. Will definitely call again.

My husband and i and a couple of friends visited here on a Sunday for lunch having read all the amazing reviews on here. Unfortunately i have to say we were underwhelmed. Prices are definitely reasonable, portion sizes are good and service was pleasant and efficient. The downsides are that the place really needs a refurb, toilets are pretty grotty too. its really shabby and needs some TLC. I didn't think there was any atmosphere in there despite what other reviews are saying, no nice music or nice Italian smells coming from the kitchen. We all found the menu highly entertaining, first of all it was a fixed price menu at £11.95 for three courses, wow thats cheap we all thought, then started to read the menu through and at the side of MOST items on the menu was an additional supplement if you chose it?? so much information and options of meat and different sauce options crammed onto the menu it was slightly daunting to say the least. The menu had some nice options but please don't offer a fixed price deal if most things on it are then an additional price, just make the menu either one price or a la carte. The starters were of a good size and nicely presented on slate boards. we all chose pasta as a main course, unfortunately the lasagne was mostly lasagne pasta with very little meat in and the two other dishes of pasta that were different sauces supposedly but virtually tasted the same, we got the impression that all the sauces were made up in advance and tomato based with bits added to them for the different dishes .The desserts were tasty but small portions . All in all, good value for money and generally nice food but definitely nothing special compared to most Italians we have eaten in. sorry :(

We have just got back from Il Lupo and I can say without doubt this is the best Italian in our area in our opinion. The restaurant itself is very quaint with a nice quiet atmosphere (Monday evening), and the staff were very friendly. Food was brought out in a timely manner and was just fantastic, very tasty, hot, and very filling. We just could not fault it. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting quality fresh traditional Italian food.

We must have driven past Il Lupo hundreds of times going into Derbyshire and today we had lunch there. The food was absolutely beautiful and it was such good value for money. They do a 3 course lunch for £10.95 and there is a good choice of dishes on the menu. We had bruschetta to start which was delicious. I had lasagne for my main course. I tend to avoid lasagne in restaurants as it is often bland but this was so tasty with a lovely tomato sauce and beautiful flavours. My husband had pork fillet with a romana sauce which came with new potatoes and 5 vegetables which he thoroughly enjoyed. We both had profiteroles with a lovely chocolate sauce for pudding. Everything was beautifully cooked and done to order. We found it to be amazing value for money, everything we ate was so delicious and we would have expected to pay a lot more. In Baslow most of the eating places are very pricey so it is well worth dining here, the food is amazing at a great price. The service was excellent from the manager and our waiter, both were so friendly, and the restaurant itself is lovely and in a central position. There is also a bar area to enjoy pre or post meal drinks. This was the first visit for us but we will definitely be back and look forward to trying other items on the menu.

This was the first time we have visited il Lupo . We have been going to Baslow for three years now at Christmas and have always wanted to go to this restaurant but never got round to it, what a mistake ! . four of us had the Sunday lunch three course special and boy was it special. Made to feel very welcome on arrival, the service, food and atmosphere were superb. The first time but not the last time, thank you il lupo.

Four if us ate, we had 4 starters and 4 mains. The starters were fantastic I had prawns and avocado salad, the other starters were generous portions and everyone said how nice their food was. Pastas were fantastic, very traditional and very tasty. Nice atmosphere, very cosy.

We booked this restaurant on a recent trip to Chatsworth. We arrived about 7.30 and there was already a buzz to the place with a few busy tables and a roaring fire. We were seated immediately and a few minutes later we were asked about drinks. Service was brisk and personable without ever feeling hurried. We shared a ciabatta with mushrooms and four cheeses to start and then went with a penne arriabatta and a linguine with olives, tomato and roasted peppers. All the food came hot and appeared to be freshly prepared. The penne was excellent with the warmth of the chilli complimenting the rich tomato sauce and the portion sizes were large without being over facing. We also had a glass of house wine and sparkling water. There was a great choice of desserts but we decided not too and went with coffees. The cost for the entire meal was under £50. To sum up the night, the meal was great, the restaurant has great ambience and the service was impeccable. Well done Il Lupo.

Thank you so much for a perfect first experience at Il Lupo. Had starters and main course which were all very tasty. The staff were extremely attentive and we had a relaxing time without feeling pushed for time despite restaurant being packed. Can definitely recommend.

We recently had special lunch menu at Il Lupo on our wayvback from Chatsworth. There was a wide choice of both starters and main courses. The food was outstanding and great value for money.

We’ve been coming here for over 25 years and safe to say it is the most delicious Italian food everytime!

A wonderful location, picturesque village and such friendly staff.

A poor attempt at 'Italian Food. We had the impression that the tomato sauce came out of a jar.The meat balls were probably from Lidl and not to mention the truly awful.prawn cocktail with the cheapest 'prawns' in the supermarket. The roulade came from the freezer compartment at the supermarket . The advertized price of £10.95 is just not true as you have to add on several pounds to get anything half decent. All in all an absolute rip off. Italians would be shocked at the poor quality of this place's so called Italian food.

We enjoyed a lovely family meal and were impressed with the menu and quality of the food. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We hope to return again in the future.

Lovely traditional Italian restaurant with a nice family atmosphere. The pasta dishes are especially good, especially the spaghetti dishes. A wide ranging pizza menu satisfies even the most hungry teenagers. The steak dishes are also well worth a try.

Wonderful food and very efficient staff. Food is cooked fresh so you may have to wait during busy periods.

Made two bookings and both meals were excellent but you need to book at weekends And leave room for the ice cream

My aunt and I went on a Thursday evening. Unfortunately it was empty at 8pm. However we decided to take a chance and had pizza. The service was lovely and friendly. About 8-30 a table of 5 came in so it felt a bit better . Pizza delicious.

This was a very nice evening, the menu had a brilliant list of options, I can struggle sometimes in Italian restaurants as I detest Tomato and so it can be a challenge.

Found this lovely Italian restaurant by chance how glad we did. We had the fixed price menu. 3 courses for just under £11.00. I had Bruschetta for starter, lovely and fresh and tasty. Second course was lambs liver cooked in white wine with beautifully cooked fresh vegetables. Dessert was profriterols. Meat dish did incur a £1.00 surcharge, even so great value and worth every penny.

I’ve been wanting to try Il Lupo for some time after driving past it on many occasions on trips between Chesterfield and Manchester.

Hubby and I went for an evening meal. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Sadly the lasagna my Husband ordered was sloppy and swimming in light coloured tomato sauce. I had a linguini which was ok with both having bruschetta to start. We didn’t trouble the staff as it was very busy had been pleasant and we were very hungry so we ate the bruschetta and shared my linguini.

Lunch menu 3 Courses for £10.95 each until 1.30pm incredible price the food was amazing & spoiled for choice. You can have Al a cart menu if you wish & the prices are still very reasonable Service was excellent.

Nice restaurant which is much bigger than it looks from outside. Good food including fish, pasta and pizza.

Surroundings are a bit dated but food and wine are fantastic! Menu is extensive with traditional Italian food and some different dishes too. The ciabatta bread with tomatoes and mozzarella is great. Service faultless. Great selection of wine by the glass.

Just wonder if the person who is moaning about the customer service below is talking about the same place ! We found them to be very accommodating , efficient and kind. It was a birthday meal,; we'd brought our own cake, and without any prompting he brought, spoons, plates and even a jug of cream to eat with the cake . Very thoughtful ! We all thought the food was excellent (and we're all regular eaters in Italy). I had the spinach/ricotta canelloni starter which I thought was the best I'd ever tasted outside Italy. Only slight question is over the quality of the house wine, which I feel their qualty of food deserves better, but I guess he's having to do it for a certain price; hence the lower standard. Overall though highly recommended

I was in Derbyshire celebrating my wedding anniversary and wanted a traditional, cosy Italian which sold wine by the carafe...and Il Lupo ticked all of the boxes. Friendly staff, delicious food and a great atmosphere too! The mixed antipasti sharing platter was the highlight of our meal. Would highly recommend.

It’s terrible-honestly don’t bother. The staff are sleazy , I ordered a basic garlic bread followed by spaghetti bolognese _ If they can’t get that right ,which they didn’t - it was really poor

As always, the lunch was good quality at a very good price. Service was also first class.

We had a beautiful antipasto plate to share, more than enough for 3 of us. The mains were huge and absolutely gorgeous. All of the staff were professional, particularly the manager. Great to have such high quality food and service nearby - we will be back!

Great little Italian restaurant in a good location. Visited on Wednesday night for a meal, table had been booked but probably could have walked in with it been midweek. Service was very good, friendly attentive staff in a pleasant interior, which is old fashioned but quaint. Food was very good I had pizza which was absolutely fine and I really enjoyed it. Everybody in our party of six had good food and no complaints. Visited again the following lunch time for coffee and ice creams, again the staff were friendly and helpful and we had another pleasant experience.

Plenty of menu choice at this Italian gem (it looks smaller from the outside - a bit like an Aladdin's cave!) on the side of the main road in Baslow. Timely service and tasty food, we had a very enjoyable experience and will happily return.

Friday night , early evening, table was available without reservation, but restaurant soon filled and had a pleasant atmosphere without being noisy.

We went as a couple yesterday and I have to say I had the best meal out in years. I had bruschetta followed by Sirloin valdostana then 3 scoops of Italian ice cream. Everything was just so tasty but the Valdostana was amazing. The steak was perfect, the sauce outstanding and the potatoes and veg plentiful. I’d never eaten valdostana before but we are going for a repeat visit tomorrow, the last day of our holiday. My wife’s pasta meal was lovely too , I had a good taste and the sauce was great. Sadly her appetite is smaller than mine so she had no starter, as usual she managed to ‘taste’ my ice cream and ended up eating half of it.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Great food, plenty of choice on the menu. The staff were all very efficient and friendly, wouldn't hesitate in going back the next time we are in the area.
