Came here a while ago, they were only serving carvery and the food presented looked old and dry. Phoned to book a table today - no answer. Came later today hoping to get a table - restaurant door shut with a paper on the door saying restaurant and kitchen is closed and only bar is open (It was 7pm), no staff to be seen so we read what was on the door and left. Unfortunately wasted a journey because no one answered the phone. On another note, parking the car was very awkward. The paint on the floor is bordering none-existent and quite a few car owners had clearly not been able to see the faint paint as their cars were very poorly parked.

The Staff were very friendly and polite. The pub is slightly run down and unkept. The food was dreadful, microwaved and overpriced.

Upon visiting the rose and crown at Brailsford for mothers day lunch, we recieved a lovely and friendly welcome from all of the staff, the seating arrangements were comfortable and appropriate also for the disabled visitor, with it being a Sunday we opted to have the carvery which was absolutely beautiful with an extremely wide variety of vegetables and condiments. This followed by dessert made for a enjoyable afternoon out with family, I would highly recommend a visit if you are ever out this way you certainly won't be disappointed.

Came for a Mother’s Day lunch. Delicious carvery, good service and felt right at home. The staff can’t do enough for you and are always really helpful.

Unfortunately this was below are expectations food was all overcooked and dry not very easy to get in with a pushchair won't be going agen any time soon

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stopped by the Rose & Crown on Main Rd in Brailsford, and it was just what I was hoping for! The place is incredibly cozy with a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The decor is charming, and it really has that classic pub feel that’s getting hard to find these days. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. The food was delicious and hearty – just the thing you'd want on a day out. All in all, it was a lovely experience, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area!

Me and my friends came in for some dinner and we thrilled with our experience. The food was delicious and staff were friendly and welcoming. We ended up staying longer than planned because of the amazing atmosphere and the locals were so lovely. I’d definitely recommend.

Worst pub food l’ve ever been served! I ordered a veggie burger and my husband fish and chips. It was early evening and the restaurant was empty so there was no excuse for the poor quality of food or service. We waited for 40 minutes for our food to arrive which was at worst burned and at best overcooked. I ordered a sweetcorn burger with roasted cauliflower, the burger was burned rock hard and black the cali was so burned it was irreconcilable as veg?! My husband’s fish was completely over cooked and dry, his mushy peas were rock solid in the tiny ramekin dish and remained untouched. Nobody came to ask if the food was ok ? I had to go find staff to complain, I said “ my burger is burned and inedible and my husbands fish is dry and overcooked”. I lady appeared at our tale didn’t introduce herself, I assume she was the manager. Asked me what was working, I told her by “ “ my burger is burned and inedible “ she said it’s not our fault it’s the supplier” I replied “ No sorry I disagree it’s the cheff who’s burned the food, they clearly don’t know what there doing” she asked would I like something else because that was the last veggie burger”I said no thanks we’ve waited long enough and have a long journey.” She offered no apology, nor did she ask my husband how his meal was, we experienced poorly cooked food, service and with no acceptance of responsibility How can you blame a supplier for your bad cooking unbelievably rude! We were so disappointed because this was a rare treat at the start of our Halloween Holiday and had a long drive ahead of us up to Newcastle upon Tyne and we rarely eat out. BTW the fries were ok so I had a chip butty with top of the bun and tiny pot of salsa. My husband ate his fish and a few chips because he was starving we’d been packing the car all day. I was given a refund for my food

I have heard good things about this pub since the new manager had taken over. And they lived up to their expectations. We had a mixture of menu items of which I had the ultimate southern fried chicken burger and I loved it. Definitely worth the money and it was also on deal of the week. The staff were lovely and very accommodating and we will definitely be visiting again.

Popped in to check out the pub as we heard it is under new management and had just undergone a mini referb! Lovely little oldie worldie village pub, well kept beer garden out back, very pleasant, helpful, friendly staff, good bear and outstanding food!! The table can highly recommend the cowboy burger, ultimate southern friend chicken burger, and the steak just melted! Could have eaten it twice! We will definitely be back! Added bonus of being able to bring the dogs with us! Not very often do they get treats do but the staff gave them lots of attention, water bowls, and doggy treats!

Went previously for a market at Christmas, and again for food. Both times the pub has been lovely and clean, food fabulous. All staff polite and welcoming. Vegetarian options are good with good portion sizes as well!

Really disappointed. Staff just sitting eating pizza in separate room , no where to be seen by the bar. The live music by the lady was good but the actual service was awful. Staff just didn’t seem interested, booked a table and left after one drink as just felt as if we were served a drink after waiting to be recognized, interrupting their dominos pizza meal and then sat down. The band were great and the locals in the pub were lovely. Advice to the pub would be to do the live music in the “dining” area which has many more covers then use the bar area for drinks and keep the pool table and darts open - would benefit them a lot! The girl who served us was nice, just difficult to get their attention as their priory was sitting eating pizza in the other room and leaving the bar unattended for ages

Our first visit here. Lovely welcoming staff. Had main courses and drinks. I can highly recommend the fish and chips , which was the best fish and chips I have had anywhere for a long time. We will go back when next in the area .

Had a fantastic carvery here on Mother’s Day. Choice of three meats (our son had all three) and they were all perfectly cooked. Wonderful selection of veg and accompaniments. We all had the medium option excellent value 10/10

What a great experience all round. A lovely welcoming atmosphere, fantastic food, a great choice of beverages and a really lovely team. Although everyone was great, a special mention must go to Jackie who went over and above to ensure our experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Will be back!!

Called after visiting the nearby activity centre, booked advance for 12 of us, not a bad pub pool table darts etc All had food with varying degrees of success so overall wouldn’t recommend it for food as most were overdone to the point of being dried out

Following a trip into Ashbourne we popped into the Rose & Crown at Brailsford - a pub we have not visited for a very long time. Despite a few cars in the car park the pub was not busy for a Friday lunchtime so we did not know what to really expect. I had Fish & Chips, wife had a Spicy Burger with fries - the fish was lovely not padded out with thick batter - best Fish & Chips I have eaten out in the last 10 years. The Burger I'm told was tasty. I/we will definitely visit again - pleasantly surprised.

Had a lovely visit this week, been in the past and didn't have a very good experience. Clearly a new team in and 100% better experience! Food was outstanding and the staff and service was first class! Loved the small touches of the seasonal decor, even the little Christmas corner advertising Christmas dining was well presented. Vast improvement and looking forward to having my local back! Looking forward to spending more time there!

Not sure but get the impression the staff are fairly new here. We booked for Sunday Lunchtime and it seemed quieter than we expected. Really enjoyed our meals and would certainly visit again. Christmas menu and Bookings available and some good weekday offers being advertised. Probably Marston offers.

Stopped with friends for an evening meal. Dining was empty just us in but loads of people just there for a drink. 4 x had the daily special steak and a drink for £12.50, 1 x had pie, chips and a pint. Food arrived which was fine (it’s a Marstons so typical Marstons food) nothing wrong with it. It’s the payment that caused the problem. The till charged us £94, which is obviously wrong as 4 x £12.50 is £50 plus a pie meal. Luckily the screen is facing the customer so was able to work it out ourselves and the staff were brilliant, no harm done and we didn’t pay the extra £30.

What a wonderful country pub! Since the new owners took over they have breathed new life into the place. Gardens have never looked better, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Food is spot on and loads of new entertainment. It's definitely worth a visit. You won't be disappointed!! ❤️

Went to the Rose & Crown for Sunday dinner with my family for Mother’s Day and my 60th birthday. Staff were wonderful, friendly and efficient. Food was delicious. I can’t recommend the Sunday dinner highly enough. Cooked to perfection and plenty of choice. Well worth a visit.

Nice, quiet lunchtime Friday visit. Menu is limited in the week, so advisable to not leave it too late visiting, as when menu items are gone, they're gone. Our party enjoyed jacket potato with tuna, two servings of scampi and chips, and I had the Hunter's chicken, which was the best I've ever tasted. All trimmings, as expected. Small but satisfying selection of desserts, nice beer, friendly, attentive staff. Recommend.

Loved this pub out on the A52, friendly,cosy and very welcoming place. Food was delicious and cannot recommend enough the chicken and bacon baguette.

Well I am touring around the dales and Marsden inns are very prolific up here. Fact is even the mash is frozen and not fresh. Everything possible comes from the microwave and if you like processed food you will like this. Lovely pub just wish good food was a theme but it’s not. The team here were friendly but soon as we saw it was a Marsden we ordered soup and nothing else. The bread was stale and my wife couldn’t eat the soup. The diet cokes were fab
