Ikea in Cardiff

Great food and products. Came at 10am on a Sunday and offered amazing breakfast. The Hot Chocolate was delicious and creamy with a strong taste of chocolate. The workers there looked happy and that really improved the shopping experience. They have improved since my last visit.

Easy shopping but can easy overspend so many nice things

Earlier this evening, I was in the Bistro area hoping to buy some food products. I stood in the designated area and waited to pay. There was just ONE member of staff serving people on the food counter, adjacent to the till I was at. I accepted he was on his own, but he didn't even acknowledge that I, and the growing number of people in the queue behind me were even there. A young female member of staff turned up after a while, and they chatted and giggled to each other, before she disappeared again. After twelve minutes of being kept waiting without so much as an acknowledgement, I put my food items on the counter and walked out. I should also point out that this isn't the first time I have experienced poor service in the Bistro area. A few weeks ago, I was served cold chips when I wanted a light snack after finishing shopping. I won't be returning.

Just had food in IKEA there are not enough staff to accommodate the other staff they are rushed off there feet and only 1 till working st the time and the queue was ridiculous as food doesn't stay warm forever nearly walked out. Management need to look after there staff more shocking corporate companies penny pinching

So many options. Lovely produce. If you want to eat there be prepared for lengthy queues

20.03.24 I placed an order and the website was very misleading and despite me changing my delivery date it had not changed the truck delivery date unfortunately only the van delivery. I called and spoke with someone called Grace who was so incredibly rude and unhelpful that I ended up crying. She tutted at me on the phone several times and you could tell she did not want to deal with my query or help me. She told me if I wished to speak to another advisor then I would have to disconnect and ring me back as it’s company policy to not transfer. I called back and reached two other ladies who were amazing and super helpful, compromises made and I quickly travelled up to Cardiff to pick up my items. The last lady advised cushions and delivery refunded and rest of funds transferred across and all I had to do was go help myself from the warehouse and then speak to customer service. At Cardiff it turns out I couldn’t do that and was taken to the customer service desk where I met some of the most amazing and helpful employees I have ever come across. Carter and Nathan went above and beyond to help me a rectify the situation in every way possible. They made me feel so welcome and made sure I left the store feeling happy, even remaining after closing time to make sure the entire problem was sorted. It turned out that the online customer service hadn’t fixed or done what was agreed so Carter and Nathan went out of their way to reassure me that they would fix it. I left happy knowing that my entire situation was fixed. Nathan was understanding that the boxes wouldn’t fit in my car (I have a huge car so I thought they would) and he arranged urgent delivery for me for Friday as I am disabled and desperately needed the sofa so I could sit down. Carter and Nathan’s sense humour, compassion and kindness really made a difference to me. You could tell they really genuinely wanted to help me. IKEA should be so incredibly proud to be able to call them their employees. I have never experienced such amazing customer service and as a disabled person this could have ended up very differently for me. So thank you Carter and Nathan. You should be so proud of yourselves for the difference you made to someone’s day.

It's IKEA! You know what you are in for - mid afternoon seems to be a quiet time - more staff than shoppers!

It was horrendous, worst experience in 35 of going to ikea . Waiting 1hr to collect order which they had done incorrectly..so I went to get some fast food which was the slowest food ever and cold . We however remained very polite as we're not rude people but just flabbergasted. That star was put because I had to

Love IKEA. Did returns very helpful staff. Once I couldn't carry the bookshelf I bought staff were called to drop it to the car.so helpful never been treated like that in London.

Not to fussed on the self paying the guy kept having to come over as the alarm kept going off even though I only had one item was a bit of a pain he was helpful but not a fan of the self paying tills at all definitely prefer the human cashier they know what they are doing !

Self checkout staff was incredibly rude.

You can find everything there for your home with a good quality and good price

We love Ikea, even if we don’t need to buy anything it’s a great option on a rainy day. Great value meals in the restaurant, the creche is usually open and free for a 45 minute session which the kids love. There are seasonal activities available (face painting, arts and crafts, bookable activities etc) and the children love just wandering round to explore all of the home scene rooms! Very child friendly, doesn’t need to cost a lot to take a trip there, generally lovely staff.

Restaurant looks a bit shabby and neglected. Basic things like certain coffees unavailable. Some of the drinks dispensers either empty or out of order. Roof leaking in places

Love the fact that ikea are doing bootsales on the last two weekends of the month to get more people to re-use , recycle there old stuff , and cant beat popping in for a look around , grab a hot dog and meat balls on the way out , winner winner , thanks ikea .

Ideal for home furnishings. The pay over time option makes it so much more accessible during this time of hardship. Always good quality products. But don't be surprised if what your looking for in an Isle at self service isn't where it says. 😉

Affordable home items, with an emphasis on smart ideas for small spaces. Love the showroom ideas section upstairs, the restaurant (decent food at affordable prices) and the easy layout of the warehouse downstairs. Definitely wear comfy shoes for all the walking!

Bit annoyed really. Purchased a chaise sofa for our conservatory, but its way more comfier that our SCS sofa in the living room. - I live in the conservatory now.

Really enjoyed a wander around IKEA. So much to see and enjoy. I didn't get all I went out to buy but came away with some lovely bath sheets that are quick drying so will be good for our holiday and 2 small orchids.

Went in for a replacement item so went straight to the marketplace, picked up a few things on way through. Went in after work so was fairly quiet.

It's a great place if you like the IKEA style loved by many although it's a big place l find it stuffy with no windows l feel it's over priced and over rated but each to their own and l can't wait to get out of there the meals are ok cheap and cheerful the drinks a sauce section is always a mess and staff do not seem to bother about the state it gets in but it doesn't put the people off people seem more than happy to queue for a cheap hot dog not a place l go to very often.

What can I say about IKEA Cardiff, It's like my bed, easy to get into, and really hard to get out of. Especially when I'm with the wife. We popped in to look at some alternative draw options for our bedroom. The standard pull out draws the way my wife rams things in its fallen away. The front panel has pushed away from the dowels, and that caused the bottom piece of thin micro fibre board to brake under the weight. I've suggested metal basket style draws to replace them, which should take a better hiding from her. Got the measurements checked it's compatible. now I can sneek back down to collect them quickly without here.

What is happening in Cardiff IKEA? Been visiting for years always had good reasonable fayre from breakfast to lunch. The last few times queues were unbelievably long today was extremely busy at lunchtime kept closing and opening checkouts long waits for food and once you have it just as long to pay for it total shambles. No brainer that end of half term and poor weather it would be exceptionally busy! ......and to cap it all no IKEA sauce/ gravy withh the meatballs only poor runny beefy gravy!!!!! So disappointing!

I was very surprised IKEA are still here after forcefully promising to leave after Brexit.

shop was clean and so was the kitchen, but the food was overpriced, took ages to get served and all the cutlery was dirty and not washed properly. it took us over 30/45 minutes to get served, and we only just managed to find the two pairs of knives and forks that weren’t dirty. cleanliness was next to none, tables dirty too, however cups were clean at least. food tasted okay but not good enough for the money at all. will not be returning.

Enjoyed our visit on Saturday, my husband tho hates it. He feels trapped in the one way system and refuses to wait in the mega long queues for food, which is a shame as the food looked nice….. but he puts up with it for me with the promise of a carvery from the Cedar Tree pub just up the road lol. 😜 I love it here tho, the way they display the different rooms Kitchens, Bathrooms, Living rooms, Bedroom is outstanding & inspirating, it gives you ideas on decorating your own home. There’s a lot of walking around as it’s one way system so I can see it’s annoying if you just wanted a particular item but personally I enjoyed going from the different rooms. Parking is plentiful and easy to access.

All good, but not a clean table in sight at the bistro on a week day midday - so hardly crowded.

A good solid IKEA but not as clean and maintained as you would expect. This isn't based on a one off visit either. The displays just seem unkept and lighting department shows the dust better than anywhere. The food hall is solid, but 2 bowls of chips now fits into 1 bowl, try it for yourself. I am a card carrying Family Card member and it just isn't the same as it once was. Not sure if because people now just visit Cardiff IKEA to keep their child out of the rain but it's not what it used to be.

A lovely modern, clean & spacious restaurant. Food was tasty, I had Swedish meatballs, chips, peas, cranberry sauce (they call it jam) & gravy in a side bowl. I also had a cappuccino coffee, which you can refill as many times as you like. I went for my lunch around 3pm which was later than most people but it was a better time to go to the restaurant as there was only one man in front of me & I got served within minutes. If you don't want a meal & just want a coffee & a treat, the restaurant do some scrummy cakes & slices of cheesecake. Highly recommended.

To be honest not located in an easy to get to area, its got lots of parking the only way to get here is by vehicle unfortunately. Visited whole store and restaurant on second floor. If you have never been to IKEA they all follow same format it leads you up to the top floor and forces you to follow a one way direction to the ground floor warehouse section and then tills. It leaves me feeling like I've escaped a large oversized escape room on several floors. Prices and quality vary throughout so don't be hooked in by the cheap throwaway items that won't last. The cafe food is what I'd call child size portions, quality is like old school dinners expect dirty tables and unclean floors, im not sure why the restaurant is so busy to be honest lots of people walked in and left. We braved the queue and eventually sat down to eat after about 40 minutes in what can only be described as a prison line, Food quality is poor to average the fish was dry the mash was instant not fresh, chips undercooked and looked and tasted like the cheapest supermarket ones they could source. Meatballs are average coffee is also lacking in any taste of quality, For the portion size and quality it has to be my worst experience in a long time you will leave feeling hungry and ripped off. When leaving cafe to get out of store with a wheelchair it was awful had to get two lifts down from two ends of the store to again have to go threw lower market hall. With no exit signs absolutely disgusting and able-bodied design.

Pretty much everything you need, all in one place. Except the meatballs which are only found in the café.

My girlfriend and I come here pretty often and we always get the same: plant balls. Sometime with fries, sometimes with mashed potatoes. They're so good. Thank you IKEA.

Always fun walking around here and I always land up spending too much. Great room ideas and reasonable priced items. Didn't have to wait too long at the self service till.

i went to ikea and ate the displays i like the taste of various plastic and fabric my favourite section was the bedrooms because chewing blankets was a lovely challenge i will be returning

Endless walking along pathways intended to showcase their stock when we knew what we wanted coupled with long queues at checkout and a very long wait to pick up the item that appeared to be due to understaffing. But, we like the table we bought.

I'm an ikea lover sorry guys for anyone that isn't. I just live their shop, it's huge, full of homeware! What can't you love, I literally could buy everything, every time I walk into that shop.

Busy as usual but only a 5 minute queue.

Brought a table for a family meeting. See a scratch on it but had to have it for the weekend. Message IKEA straight away and they replaced it . Trouble is to take it apart again and these things are one hit wonders. But had no choice as I couldn't get it at the front door when it was whole. The delivery men were brilliant.

1st time visit to IKEA. Very impressed. Parking was free and easy. Lots of parking spaces. Very easy and enjoyable in store. Prices were surprisingly inexpensive. Value for money. Minimal que at checkout. Definitely will return.

Just to share how disappointing was customer service at IKEA Cardiff. Done shopping Last Sunday bought many items in one go, one item had two boxes we picked only one, got home phoned IKEA the girl said it's not a problem come back when you can and we will sort it. Today my wife went for it. Got there explained what happened the guy said it's our fault ( what we know anyway) he need to check everything and get back to us. 1 hour later my wife asked how it's going and how long more it's gonna take. He replied that's everything was ready long time ago he was just having his break... Shocking

Well done IKEA Cardiff. A superb little crèche now that it has finally opened. Staff are polite and professional even though some customers can be unpleasant towards them. A free service that does not have to be offered. Keep up the good work

Quiet and nice … no long waiting … Just prices are increased a lot… u can buy stuff in local more cheaper than here. Before it used to be cheap.

IKEA’s not great for a quick shop because of the size of the store and needing walk around a lot of it to get anywhere. However, it’s nice to go here if you’ve got the time, I find it’s nice to get some inspiration for the home. All the different room setups they’ve got and the varied styles are nice to look at. It’s also good to look at things before buying them. There’s a lot of choice here as well. I find that I always leave with some random stuff that I didn’t plan on buying - it’s that kind of place. The cafe’s here are nice too. The second floor cafe’s got nice views of Cardiff, if you can get a window seat. There’s vegan meatballs too. The first floor cafe sells vegan hotdogs. Prices at the cafes are very reasonable.

Has gotten way too overpriced over the years and the delivery costs are ridiculous cost more to delivery an item thB what your paying for the item

The concept and design of the whole IKEA range of furniture and accessories, is remarkable. This includes instructions and packaging. Always found their items to be robust and durable. We've had Billy and Bond furniture, literally for decades! Love it!

Massive store and you can buy everything for home but the quality it's not the best.
