…and other assorted bakery products, this is clearly a Criccieth institution judging by busy it was. My beef bun and chicken tikka bun were both delicious and my apple and rhubarb crumble for afters was just as tasty.

We called in here today and wow. So much to choose from. We bought ready made sandwiches and cakes for our lunch. Such a wide choice of both it was hard to choose. Sandwich fillings are gorgeous. We also bought fresh bread for later. Really delicious lunch, bread and cakes from a traditional family run bakery. We'll definitely be back again. The Best bread I've had for ages I wish I lived nearer. There are some very negative reviews on here regarding staff and service and I think it's unfair. I'm from out of the area and so wanted to have a good look at everything as there's such a lovely choice. I'm guessing if you're a regular local shopper they will serve you first while the visitors dither about. This bakery is very busy because its so good so they've no time for dithering and will serve the next customer - nothing wrong with that. I felt like I was dithering because I literally could have bought one of everything and it was amazing.

I'd read a few reviews which said that the staff were a little unfriendly to visitors to Criccieth, so I was a little nervous when I went here to buy bread. As stated in previous reviews, we also experienced awful behaviour from the older ladies serving behind the counter today. This was our second visit and it was just as bad as last time! However they are very friendly with those that they clearly know! WHY? Such a shame because the cakes and bread are delicious. We were ignored for too long today, it was uncomfortable and very rude. Such a shame, they must be losing this lovely bakery so much business with such awful behaviour. We will not visit again. 😕

On arrival for a light lunch in the Idris Bakery and Cafe, we received the warmest of welcomes. The food was good unpretentious cafe food served in generous portions, and was excellent value. The staff were all so friendly, and it was a joy to observe the jolly banter between themselves and with customers. Following some previous less favourable reviews, perhaps they have had recent training in customer service. All the staff are happily bilingual, and flit between their native Cymraeg and the foreign tongue of the English in an instant, depending on customer preference. A trip upstairs to use the "facilities" is an opportunity to explore the period decor more fully. The selection of breads and cakes at the front of the shop is not to be missed either. Service with a smile, indeed.

Never have I felt the feeling the lady gave me at any establishment in that time. I asked her 2 simple questions, of which she could barely bring herself to answer with a look of disgust. I can speak Cymraeg a little and try my best to say thank you. Very very rude lady, shocking to see people behaving this way considering the bulk of their business is tourism based. Having visited this bakery a few times in the past for some sandwiches and cakes that have always been lovely we decided to visit again for some food on the way down to the beach. We wanted 8 tuna sandwiches but there was only 1 left after asking a member of staff would it be possible to make some more they said they couldn't make another batch of tuna even though it wasn't lunch time yet and they have made them up for us on previous visits when they had ran out. Unless you are a local everything seems too much trouble for them even though a majority of their business will definitely be from tourists especially at this time of year! Every time we have been previously you always feel like being there is an inconvenience to them. This will be the last time we ever attempt to get food from here and I would highly recommend Cadwaladers for nice toasties and ice cream and pleasant staff!

My husband and I had visited the castle and had a lovely walk when we decided to have a little lunch so we went into the Idris cafe. As we headed to the rear seating area a woman headed towards us and said very rudely that they were not serving hot food! I waited for her to finish what she was doing and when she finally decided to acknowledge me I asked if we could have a hot drink and scone from the front bakery, she spoke to a lady behind the desk in Welsh and then said yes. I found a table and she asked what we wanted, we requested a scone with cream, she went to the front of the shop and before we had even sat down she plopped a single scone with cream on the table and said we've only got one. At this point I had had enough of her rudeness and lack of customer service skills and told we would leave it thankyou very much and we left.

Chose around 8 items from the bakery for us to share between us so that we could try a bit of everything while we had a coffee, and the food was lovely. However, I would never wish to return to this cafe based on how appalling the service was. The staff are rude and make you feel like you're putting them at an inconvenience, (no apology either when I reminded them of my coffee order, 15 minutes after it was taken and hadn't arrived yet). This cafe is at the back of the bakery but area quite spacious with quite a few tables. Full English breakfast including a drink £6. Piping hot drinks (not your lukewarm efforts like Starbucks ), 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, beans, fresh tomato and fried bread....we had extra toast instead of fried bread. The toast was from freshly baked bread not an ordinary loaf which was an added bonus! This place has good quality, village-bakery style food. We found it to be the best place to grab an affordable lunch in Criccieth. The bakery has cafe seating area at the end. It was spotlessly clean and our service was very quick. We chose from the bakery and although there's a cafe menu as well, we were too tempted. So, a Welsh Cheese and Leek quiche, Traditional Lamb Oggie, Chorizo Sausage Roll and a Bacon & Sausage Baguette. There's a wide selection, but it still tastes good quality, home made and we were given the choice of hot or cold. We both recommend the Rosemary Foccacia, served warm and it was great! The staff are friendly to both locals and tourists, we were the latter. While on holiday in wet wales visited the Idris cafe in Criccith high street. This is staffed by some pleasant ladies who are ready to serve a light lunch or a cream tea .The room is bright with a mix of clients including young families.Good fresh food, also a baker shop,at reasonable prices.

They give you a very good amount of ice cream and addition addings aswell, however, the ice cream was pretty quick to melt even though it was a cold day that day 😅 but overall very delicious

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced . We were naughty and were too tempted by the delicious homemade sweets and puds they had to offer . I had the jam and coconut cake and my husband opted for the apple pie. They were presented lovely with fruit and a pot of cream on the side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Barmouth

We stopped here for breakfast twice, having been disappointed by the service at another establishment. The breakfast rolls are tasty, especially the sausages, and both the tea and coffee were good. Fair prices and very friendly service. Outdoor seating where you can eat your food whilst enjoying the beautiful views of Llanberis and its surroundings. Also does delicious cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

Great fish & chips supper here this week! And, most importantly, friendly service with a smile! We'll be back!
