Amazing place. Food is great and casual but done with care, cocktails are amazing and the service is genuinely unbeatable. Thanks to all the team for a good night!

My friends and I visited here recently and it’s a very nice place to go. Firstly, the views from the upstairs seating area are incredible! Absolutely loved sitting at our table and watching the sunset. Also, the staff were excellent. They could not be faulted! They were attentive without being overbearing and I was so impressed that they took our order without the aid of a notepad! I wish I had that type of memory. Overall, the food that we ordered was incredible, however I I have walked down have marked down by one point as the burger I ordered seem to be very different than the one on the menu. I did not receive the pretzel bun as stated, and just got a normal bun, also there was shredded onion on the bottom of the burger which was not listed on the menu and I am not a fan of onion. Also I which that there was some sort of rice on the menu or fries but that is personal preference. On to the cost: for me I found it slightly pricey for a weekday meal out however for special occasions or a great night out with friends this location would be perfect! I would definitely return and look forward to doing so.

We visited as a party of five and were warmly welcomed upon arrival. Since our table wasn't ready just yet, we were invited to sit downstairs and order drinks while we waited. The service was efficient—we received our drinks promptly and were then swiftly shown to our table upstairs. The atmosphere was pleasant, and we were particularly impressed by the intricate decorations that added a unique touch to the dining experience. We placed our orders and were informed that the dishes would arrive in typical tapas style, which we appreciated. Fortunately, even our pizzas arrived around the same time, which was great for sharing. The food was delicious, and the sides were equally tasty. The only downside was that they had run out of halloumi fries, which we were looking forward to trying. It gives us a good reason to return though! Overall, it was a lovely meal out, and we left satisfied and happy with the experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Went for lunch for my partners birthday, and we were provided with a fantastic service from Tom. He went out of the way to make a sex on the beach cocktail for myself that was not even on the drinks menu, and I can honestly say it was two of the best I have ever had. Great food also. We particularly enjoyed the Mac n cheese and the pork belly bites. Thank you so much for a great lunch we’ll definitely be back. Thank you Tom and the team.

Absolutely overpriced Food and lack of food on the plate for a Starter? I was biting my tongue after being Charged £130 for 4 not so nice pizzas and 3 drinks and 2 starters that was hardly anything on the plate £8.50 a starter was absolutely not worth it. £16.50 a pizza better off going to a local fast food they are much better quality. Whenever I go to a restaurant I always look up beforehand to see if I can eat there as I’m gluten free so this review is purely just for information for anyone else doing that. The service at ice and slice was very friendly, the atmosphere is great, the cocktails are very nice and the food does look good so not a reflection on that at all. The manager was also really apologetic to our situation and there are no issues there with the service at all it was just an unfortunate situation, we were grateful to the manager for their compensation of our drinks in recognition that we had to move restaurant to dine elsewhere. There are other reviews stating gluten free is well catered here, and if you are a non coeliac who needs gluten free that is true there are lots of options including gluten free pizza which is great. I thought I had done my research before and figured I would be fine. I had planned on avoiding pizza and just having something from main menu However, anyone who is Coeliac there is nothing you can eat here as everything on the menu is prepared in the woodfired oven (not just the pizzas) and cross contamination just cannot be avoided despite the staffs best efforts. There is no other method of cooking and the other small oven in the back is used for gluten containing ingredients. The team will do their best to try to prepare things in a way which reduces risk however ultimately the way that the food is prepared, dining as a coeliac here just isn’t feasible and nothing on the menu, even if naturally gluten free, can be considered safe. My genuine suggestions to help the restaurant if they really want to get it right for the gf community but continue to make the fab offering they already do without changing things massively: 1. Please remove the wording ‘gluten FREE’ from their menus and make it clear that they offer ‘non gluten containing ingredients’ or ‘gluten friendly’ options 2. Please put a visible disclaimer about the kitchen situation on both the website and the menus and a line that whilst you can cater gluten free you unfortunately cannot guarantee the food is safe for those with coeliac disease. 3. if you *do* want to be able to help coeliac diners consider having some schar gf pizza bases kept in the back and keep the small oven only used for naturally gluten free ingredients so in future, anyone who isn’t prepared to risk the woodfired oven has at least an option to eat *something* with you. An example of somewhere that does things really well is the chain of pubs that have the bulls head, the swan and the joiners arms who also have a woodfired oven. They state very clearly (and correctly) they cannot do gf pizzas in the oven at all and explain why. I would direct the manager of ice and slice to take a look at their website and their allergen information section. No kitchen, unless fully gluten free can guarantee no risk and those with coeliac disease understand that and choose the level of risk they are comfortable with, not even places like Prezzo who are coeliac uk accredited can fully guarantee no risk. What we do need is just need transparency and for places that claim they cater gluten free to FULLY understand the nuances of making that claim and going beyond just ‘it’s got no gluten ingredients in it so we can put gf on our menu’. It’s so disheartening to be excited that a restaurant can cater because ‘gf’ is written all over the place to then find out that they actually can’t really. I guess it’s no different to claiming a dish is vegetarian but frying it in the same pan as some meat (not suggesting ice and slice do this, just an analogy) Re-iterating again just to finish that aside from the gf stuff… the restaurant itself and the staff - absolutely spot on vibes and service.

This is a little diamond in Swadlincote for drinks or food. The food is the best in the area, like being in a city restaurant but in a small town. I've eaten here many times and it's as good as many places I've been in London where I live. Very reasonably priced too. The staff are fantastic....shout out to Stephan, Meg and Lucas. Solo, a as a couple or in a group you'll be really looked after

First time to ice and a slice. The ambiance was lovely when we walked in. I tried a cocktail (margarita) however it was missing the salted glass rim, but tasted amazing. We were shown to our table upstairs and we placed our order. There were lots of attentive staff and the food came quickly. We ordered a bottle of wine which was presented well and was put in an iced bucket at the side of the table. We had a very enjoyable evening. We are vegetarian so choice was limited. We ordered one last drink once we had finished our meal only to be told we had 10 minutes left on our table!!! What?? We wouldn’t have ordered another drink if we had known we were on a time limit?? This comment ruined the evening for us and we felt it was quite unnecessary? We also got invited the following Saturday evening with friends. It was difficult to order something other than we had the week before. The cheesy garlic bread starter previously was a pizza base, however this time was slices of bread with a little bit of cheese. Disappointing. My husband ordered the miso cod, but when it came it looked like sea bass with skin and the whole plate was cold. He didn’t complain as we were with friends and he didn’t want to make a scene. I ordered a pizza but asked if I could have half and half (vege options) when that came I had 3 quarters of the mushroom and a quarter of goats cheese. Even the waitress commented on the toppings. Very disappointed with the food. Service was good but we won’t be coming back in a hurry. We thought it was very expensive for pizzas and beer.
