Cake lovely and not badly priced for the size of the slice, shame your cafe / ice cream shop girls are miserable as sin - they need to be taught some customer service skills, eye contact, interact with your customers and most importantly look like you want to there and SMILE!

Haven't visited for years and it seems a lot had changed over that time. My son loved the animals and you no longer get charged to see the owls, a part I'd not visited in the past. Plenty of outdoor seating and grassy area where my son, along with other children, had space for playing with a ball. The cakes are as delicious as ever although we didn't get to try ice cream on this occasion as the queue was too long. What was disappointing though was the selection of food. Gone is the lovely lunch menu they used to do to be replaced by sausage rolls or sandwiches that didn't look appetising at all. We decided to go to a lovely pub in Gnosall instead. We will return as the ice creams looked as great as they've always been but will have lunch elsewhere first.

My partner and I took the grandkids to see santa and have ice creams together, but after waiting to be served to no avail when there was no one waiting, despite the fact that there was three staff serving, I decided to move to another counter and then got ignored while others were queue jumping! I left and will not be returning.

Lovely ice cream but totally ruined by owners attitude. We have been coming here for many years and witnessed his grumpiness before. However on our latest visit we were on the receiving end of his terrible customer service ! We had inadvertently parked in the wrong place. Would obviously have moved immediately and without a fuss but he was so verbally aggressive. We will sadly never return.

We went with some friends for a a few days holiday. We were allocated caravan pitch numbers by the owners son who was helpful. We had almost finished siting caravans when the owner appeared and started ranting and raving over where our caravans were. He would not listen when we told him we were using the pitch numbers that were given to us and was very rude and verbally aggressive. A nice site but we will not be visiting again in the near future solely because of the rude owner.

Stayed on the camp site site very pleasant a bit un level. Enjoyed our stay apart from the terrible land owner. We were told to site on pitch but owner then came after we had got awning up and ranted very rudely told us to move on to a pitch with no hook up despite having paid for EHU. We refused. He then came often during our stay over two weeks and ranted and was extremely rude. We will not be returning despite nice site and area.

Red Lion Farm was one our favourite rides. Used to go there every two weeks for a nice lunch and ice cream . Had not been there since COVID, so we decided to visit once again, Very disappointed, with the poor menu, sausage rolls and ready made sandwiches from a refrigerator. Coffee was pleasant . When we used to go regularly there was a good menu, customers could have a good lunch. The home made cakes had gone replaced with small slices of cakes on trays. I would need two to eat for a reasonable treat. I must say though for customers with children there is a good range of ice cream, a free to walk around farm animals that you can feed. Children will certainly enjoy the experience, but not for anyone who doesn’t have children with them. . Matured customers appear to have deserted the Farm cafe

We decided to take our two grandchildren and their Mum to The Red Lion Ice Cream for a special treat, even though it entailed a 100 mile round trip. We were unable to go last year owing to my husbands ill health. It was a very wet day, and the children only saw the rabbits and Guinea pigs as it too wet to see the other animals, but we did hear the Goats. However the reason for was for ice cream. Have used this place for at least six years. Oh my goodness what a disappointment, they have replaced many of the table and chair seating area, with the most horrendous small bucket type chair and tables, there now seemed to be such a waste of floor space, could cater for many more people if they went back to proper table and chair seating. Previously when we visited always had something to eat as well as their ice cream, there is now nothing more substantial than sausage rolls and cake. When we first visited it was quite small then it was extended and really good, not any more, Waste of fuel for the round trip.

Myself and my partner visited afew weeks ago. I thought it was absoulty fantastic that you can visit for free, and pet and feed animals) +(feed 60p). The little cafe is quaint and Iiked how the shop sold local produce. However, we entered the owl sanctuary and I'm not even sure if they're kept legal however myself and my partner actually had tears in our eyes. We paid to enter, but afew steps in and we wanted to walk back out. The cages don't look big enough, one owl had near enough the same cage as a Eagle, some birds looked so sad and I don't understand their calls but some seemed harrowing. We understood some owls may be being handled throughout the day but there was afew that were tied down in their cages to the metal bar. If the way these owls are kept are legal, it's Still so sad to see. The way this section made us feel, we won't be returning.

Looks like a nice environment but we only popped in to try the ice cream and check out for a future visit when more time available. We bought a large pack of original dairy ice cream to take home. Fair to say that it was quite tasteless and you can’t use a scoop to get it out of the pack. We won’t buy again. Don’t know what the flavoured varieties are like but I think that there are better places around for locally made ice cream, based on our experience.

We paid £7 for the family to go round the owl and birds of prey section which was good- such a varied selection of rehomed birds. We took our granddaughter to Red Lion Ice Cream Farm and we all loved it. She loved feeding the animals and the Owl Sanctuary was a great hit, particularly holding the barn owls. The staff in the cafeteria were friendly and helpful. The small farm shop had a god range of local produce. The sandwiches were fresh and full of filling. The ice cream was excellent, generous servings from a wide range of flavours. We would recommend it to anyone who needs to entertain their children for a few hours.

This small menagerie of animals in a lovely setting is a perfect way to spend a couple of hours. Looking around the animals is free and you don’t feel pressurised into buying an ice cream, although you’d be foolish not to as they are made on the farm by the family who run and own it. The choice of which cone and then ice cream flavour is the only problem, as it’s endless. All the animals are well looked after.

Used to be fantastic but no longer. Cafe only serves prepacked sandwiches and dried up pasties. Gone is the great range of local food. Staff rude and disinterested when asked polite questions. Shop no longer has great range of products. Animals you can visit look unhappy. Paths unkempt and full of thistles. Rabbits desperately needed cleaning out. Owner clearly lost interest - needs to close it or sell it if he's not going to run it properly.

The owner here is so rude! Considering it’s a ‘family’ place he is so unfriendly. The parking has no clear signs at where you can and can’t park. He shouted out of his car to my sister in such a rude manner commenting about her wearing glasses and that she should be able to see that caravans need to get past ( there was plenty of room for them to still get by) He continued to roll his eyes and huff. She was not blocking any entrance and there was nowhere showing where else you could park if the car park was full, until he shouted to go park on the grass .Later on in the day other cars parked where my sister did,as like I said there isn’t any signs. Shouldn’t be running a business like this if he can’t have simple manners!!!!!!!!!!!

Upon arrival the venue was busy and thus parking appeared scarce. We parked to one side of a gate (without blocking it) where there was no signage to say that we shouldn't when the owner drove up (who looked like he'd partaken of too much of his own produce) and was very rude to us. He sarcastically accused us of being blind and belligerently pointed us to where we could park (again there was no signage to indicate this!) There are ways and means of talking to people and this wasn't it - he could have been more polite - particularly if he wants to encourage/attract visitors. Others subsequently parked in the same place but we didn't see him approaching them. This experience left a bad taste in the mouth and spoilt it for us which was a shame as it's a lovely place to take our young children/grandchildren.

We have visited the Ice Cream Farm at Haughton on many occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed out visits, we always have lunch and then the ice cream. However today was a differnt story altogether. We arrived at about 11.45 and ordered our sandwiches and drinks which appears very quickly. We then ordered our ice creams, which consisted of three scoops of ice cream and a banana split at 12.10 (time on receipt) Several people came in and ordered their lunch and were served long before our icre creams arrived. After 35 minutes I queried out ordered and was told the wouldn't be long. They arrived after 50 minutes, with just a sorry. It would appear they the ordered in the kitchen are done on an ad hoc basis and not in the ordered they have been placed. My husband was all for asking for our money back and leaving, but as we had a 64 mile round trip to the Ice Cream Farm I was not prepared to just walk out, after all I had gone fore the ice cream. Throughout all this our three year old grandson just sat there very quiet waiting to go and feed the animals. This experience hasn;t put off going back which I am sure we will do several more times this year, but we will not be prepared to wait so long next time. There really is no excuse for incompetence and that it was it seems to have been today.

So after setting up the ice cream was to be had,, oh my we hadn't banked on trying to choose from 100 flavours, i am not a big ice cream fan, unlike the hubby, but over the stay i had the lemon & banana toffee, yum yum, but the hubby had the white chocolate swirl ,apricot, raspberry our only disappointment was that when we left on the Monday the shop was shut, so couldn't bring any home,, oh never mind it means another trip back

We visited this venue yesterday after having previously visited twice before. The weather was warm and sunny so we decided to have our meal outside. When ordering our meal we were told by a very uncharismatic assistant that there were no jacket potatoes and I joked that there weren't any on our previous visit only to get the response of "oh really". We ordered two bottles of cold drinks and were advised that there were no glasses ( lots on the tables outside waiting to be washed!!!) and were given one plastic children's beaker. When I asked for another one I was told that we couldn't have another due to the cost we could only have one??????? When we received our meal we asked for ketchup and were given a bottle that had obviously been kept in the sunlight because it exploded when we opened the top covering two of us in ketchup. All in all an unpleasant visit.Staff do need training on customer service and do need to smile to look as if they are enjoying the job even though they clearly don't.I understand that there were lots of people there and that washing up can be a problem but perhaps you need to purchase more glasses. Not all adults want to eat out of a well chewed children's beaker.

Yesterday I was visiting the ice cream farm in Haughton with my husband. As we were sat in the restaurant We were horrified to witness how the owner spoke to his customers. There was a group of small children visiting the farm and as far as I believe the teacher was ordering food and ice creams for them, but because they had bought their own picnic sandwiches for some of the children the owner started raising his voice at them all. The teacher was trying to explain that some of the children had diet issues but everyone else was eating from the menu. The owner told them very rudely to put down their purchases, pack up and leave. We were so disgusted with this behaviour we left ourselves. They advertise the ice cream farm as family run and friendly. We certainly will not be returning.

I've lived in Haughton all of my childhood and spent many a time visiting redlion farm with a group of children from our holiday club. However on this occasion we looked round the animals as usual then sat down outside to have some lunch. We all sat round chatting and deciding what to order from the menu. Some of our children have dietary requirements so we brought our own packed lunch for them. As we were about to place an order the owners son Graham stormed over to us in front of the children and abruptly told us to move and not consume our own food on the premises. I excepted this and explained we wanted to order food and icecreams but there were some children that unfortunately could not eat their food. He raised his voice and said "I haven't become a millionaire because of people like you!" "I spend £36,000 on those animals for u to swan in here and use our facilities and use our toilets!" I was taken aback and said sorry we'll buy some ice cream for the children and leave. He said that he wouldn't now serve us and to [--] leave!! Typical Costa food and drink but the service was not typical – it was terrible. Only one oven saw the wait for hot food being excessive and the way of working means that there is no way to ensure the correct order was taken by the correct person. One guy seemed to be waiting for ages and when my order (2 x Cumberland Sausage Toasties) was placed on the counter, he thought it may have been his. When I told him what I had, he mentioned that he had been waiting 15 minutes and still his order had not arrived. The Barista hearing this, checked and discovered that the order had been fulfilled but “someone must have picked it up in error”. Whilst the offer of replacement was quick, no offer of more coffee was made as the initial cups were either finished or cold. Take a tip from Starbucks – see how they handle queuing. As for the food. Just the same old Costa offerings.
