Hussain's Indian Cuisine in North Somerset

Ate here last night as with other reviews I was extremely disappointed. This place used to be good but last night staff didn't know what they were doing and the girls miserable not sure if they are new. Won't be back in a hurry

Used to be quite regular for takeaway here, but noticed the quality decline recently (assumed due to cost etc, and still tried to support). On today's order, over half the starter was missing, and the paneer cheese was missing from the main. Phoned to try to sort a replacement, and the man said that there was nothing he could do, and since he wasn't the owner, he didn't give care if we leave a bad review. Here it is. Won't return. We did get our money back though after returning the entire order.

We had a take out very small portions (4 small pieces of potatoe in the saag aloo !) and undercooked bread

Great experience for a group of 8. We were offered a £20 deal on Saturday night for main, rice & Nan bread. Delicious food, although seems spicer than other restaurants in the area.

Miserable delivery service. Missed out a crucial part of a meal (the curry aspect of curry night, so quite necessary). Upon calling the restaurant to sort this, as opposed to most restaurants that quickly send the missing item, they instead said they couldn’t do anything and just left it at that. Bit rubbish, really. Poor show, Hussain.

First time having an Indian and it was very good, the service was very slow however even just putting the first order through

I'm extremely picky about Indian food. Hussain's is as good as any place I have ever been...and I include several places in *London* here. The samosas and poppadoms are excellent. They'll try to upsell you the poppadoms. Let them! The mint sauce is a house specialty and delicious with many things...including as a salad dressing. Service was good...a little slow on Saturday night when they were deservedly slammed! I'll forgive them that. Decor is typical curry house...plain but comfortable and I will also note that even when the place was full, I could carry on a conversation with my husband at a normal volume. The chef really knows their way around a tandoor. Just an excellent place.

Owner is a cheat put extra money on our bill because their was 8 of us he put on another £25 extra in-between but we got the menu and re worked it out shame on an old man of that age

Unwelcoming and disappointing service with a strange smell of egg through the restaurant. This place needs to up its game as it has no atmosphere and the food is pretty average really. Sorry but won’t be coming back.

Well worth a visit. Traditional British Asian food. Served in a pleasant atmosphere by friendly staff.

Have had one dine in meal which was very nice but the take-away today was nothing else other than disgusting. The chicken was poached separately from the sauce and only tasted of chemicals. The sag aloo was appalling - tasteless cheap potatoe not cooked with the sauce so no flavour or seasoning in the potatoes. I really dont know how a restaurant can have so little pride in what they produce.

Fabulous meal once again.We travel from Newport just to go here. The meals are so good and the staff are very friendly and it's the only restaurant I know where you can have a Moe which is a gorgeous, mild curry

It was the best I have ever had and I've had a lot of curry's after looking at the reviews I don't understand it the staff were great the owner was very nice man I feel so sad as I would definitely go back again I would recommend this place without Hesitation I'm going back soon

Always loved going to this restaurant as has always had a real wow factor over others in Weston but sadly tonight it was average. Starters …. Samosa was really oily and bhajis bland. The main courses were good, plenty of food but just not the ‘wow’ we have had in the past. Service was efficient and staff did what they needed to do as in serve us but no pleasantries, we werent made to feel welcome in the slightest. Sad to say we won’t be going back, and we are local residents.

Sunday night meal with friends to finish off a weekend away. The food was outstanding and every effort was made to accommodate one of our group who does not like Indian food.We choose the Sunday Curry club special offer and had enough food to feed 6 people and we were a party of 4 so we did struggle to finish it all. There is always a good welcome from the staff and they do like to make you feel welcome and explain the food we order if unsure.

Tasty food in a pleasant setting. Slow service.

Having been going to Husseins for 8 years I have seen a sad decline in all aspects of this restaurants life however, today is the last time me and my wife will go to the restaurant. We ordered our staple meal and everything about it was awful. I am not going to waste time writing a review other than to say please read the reviews and then give this place a swerve. The restaurant was once an amazing place with super staff, an incredible chef and Mr Hussein. Today all the faces have gone including the chef and the replacement chef is turning our sub standard food. Do not waste your time or money.

Was given 4 poppadoms without being asked how many we wanted,waited ages for our curry,then was given the bill which was 5 pounds over what we ordered,when I questioned the boss he tries to say our bill was correct,I started to argue with him saying we were over charged so he grabbed a fiver from the till and ushered us out of the restaurant,disgusting,would never go back,no wonder there are so many bad reviews keep away and spend your money in a decent place not here

We came by at 9pm on a Sunday without a booking and we’re well looked after. Hussain was very accommodating to our special drink request and helped us order to our taste. Many thanks for your service.

Hmmm. Appearances can be deceiving! Looks a lovely restaurant, we were welcomed in, sat down, given our menus, we chose our dinner and when the starter arrived I was chuffed, my partner not so much. We then had a looooooong wait because ‘Just eat, Deliveroo & Uber’ took priority not to mention the phone orders. One Just eat order sat on the bar for approx 20 mins while the owner was on the phone in ear shot of everyone in the restaurant trying to get a driver! When my partner finally mentioned that we were still waiting for our mains they finally appeared! I can not remember the last time I had to use a knife when eating curry. The chicken was as tough as old boots!!! Then to top it off when you ask for the bill you get a chocolate orange sweet, surely everyone knows after a curry you have a chocolate MINT! Definitely wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend it either…. Sorry!

Nice restaurant, slow service, more interested in take away orders and arguing with delivery drivers in front of guests. Chicken chewy, garlic chicken tikka was tasteless as was the chicken Frittella chef's special which just tasted like a basic chicken Madras. Wish we had tried one of the 3 other pricier places down the same road.

Had food there with my friends and really liked the place. They have many item choices from the menu and staffs behaviour was very friendly and cordial. Enjoyed really good time there.

Staff were friendly and food was excellent, especially the chk dhakeshwari. Definitely coming here again and recommend others.

Very poor quality food food was served undercooked and the sauce have loads of water in it also food was being picked up from the kitchen floor and put it to the pan.

We visited as a party of 8. We all ordered the set meal, poppadoms with pickle tray, and one couple ordered 2 small side dishes. The food was ok, but nothing special. The reason I've only left 1 star is because they tried ripping us off. The bill came, which was obviously altered. I contested the price, and straight away they took money off, but it was still over priced. The older man ( maybe the manager) smirked at us, give us the right price to pay, and we left really upset. How many people just pay the bill without checking it. How many people have they done this to. Will never return here

Fantastic food and great super friendly staff

Very nice food, not the cheapest but well worth the price. One of the best Indian restaurants I've eaten in, would definitely recommend.

I’d leave zero stars if I could. We went in a group of 4 for dinner last weekend after reading the reviews here on Google: 4.2/5.0 wouldn’t be that bad so we thought! While the starter and the overall diner ambience was outstanding, it set a higher expectation of the mains, the food, however, was far from mediocre and weren’t even close to authentic. They were bland, awfully presented and I personally felt like they were ridiculously whitewashed. My palate is screwed from their frozen, cold kebab and it is still painful as I’m writing this review. I applaud and appreciate the owner’s effort to attend for feedback however the waiter (there was only one throughout the evening and his service was horrendous!) could have been more careful with his overall food handling etiquette. From the past years’ reviews I’ve read, I presume this restaurant used to be better. Not sure if they switched owner or recently restaffed but this should be seriously looked into. My advice is if you have £30 to spend for a family dinner in Weston-super-mare, spend it ELSEWHERE.

Had the worst experience in terms of dining in a Restaurant. We came in based on the appearance of this place and reviews. The ambience was great and the starters were exceptional which raised our expectations. However, it all went south when the main course was served after a longer than usual waiting time. The presentation of the food was horrible and it made loose our appetite. The waiter literally shoved everything on the plate from the tray like you are being served at a refugee camp. The food was bland and the chicken kebabs tasted like plastic. Utterly disappointed by the service and the food quality. Wont recommend anyone to go if you want a nice dining experience.

Extremely disappointed: Will never recommend it to anyone. Travelled from Bristol to town, to celebrate and then dine for a special occasion but ended up feeling very embarrassed to have chosen this place. Ambience was fine, which is where you get fooled. Had papadums and condiments for starters which were actually nice, but really the only tasteful food we had that night. Wait time was very long (likely short staffed). Could really do with staff training. Service of food was pathetic! No concept of plating. Food was reeled in on sizzler from kitchen but then dumped on the plates and handed over?! Im surprised this hasnt been highlighted by many. We ordered Lamb Tikka Balti, Mixed Tandoori Platter, Tawa Lamb, King Prawn Sizzler, Pilau Rice and Cheese Naan. The meats were tender, except for anything on the platter (the seekh kabab was super dry, chewy and plasticky). Portion sizes and pricing is alright. But my God, it was the most bland food Ive probably ever eaten. Cant say even a single dish out of all had a flavour or was palatable. We completely lost our appetite which was such a shame! Now Im an asian myself so I know my food and flavours. Also, cheese-where??naan? They are supposed to be stuffed; but all they give is plain naan brushed with some butter-looking thing being served interchangeably. Idk what sort of Indian pilau was that either: more like bland, butter zeera rice. Also to note, they give you hand written receipts (the order they penned down) and take service charges (unexplained percentage). Couldnt say much on spot as we were with guests to celebrate (we shouldve though). Anyways, Gordon Ramsey could pay them a visit really.

We ordered a take away for the first time this weekend. And was not disappointed. The food was fresh and tasty. The service was quick and efficient. We ordered 5 meals with sides, rice and naans. Due to us collecting our order we had a massive 25% off the total bill. Really appreciate this deal in this current climate. We'll done Hussains. We are recommending you to others and will be using you again.

The place to go with a group of mates that can get a bit bawdy. Order taken with efficiency and attempt at upselling rather than helpful suggestions and welcoming. Could do with more staff probably and more staff training. Food was good.

Disappointing after reading the reviews was looking forward to trying Hussain's. 3 hours late numerous phone calls it eventually arrived at 1020pm missing a naan a rice and preety cold 😔

In fifty years of visiting Bangladeshi Restaurants I have never been treated in such a rude manner. Sat down for ten minutes. Pestered five or six times for an order and then,out of the Blue told to finish your Prosecco and leave. My disabled wife my daughter,her carer and myself. Overcharged for God’s sake with the pathetic stale popadums that we we supplied with. Oh? Did I mention that we were the very last table in the place to be seated pushed up against the stairs by the toilet and the bin. Might be OK for locals but proper discerning clients should fear to tread. Simply let those Fools Rush In!?

Forgot the side dish and even after asking didn't bring it. Tried to charge us for it A bit of eye rolling from the owner. Won't be going back

Food was good. Most of team lovely but one member of staff very rude to table and ruined the atmosphere. Overcharged for food by roughly £20 - didn't complain though, we considered it as a our tip.

Very rude on the phone. Waited and hour and 10 minutes for food. We were told, we were going to have extra as an Apology, didn’t receive any extra and the food only Luke warm, the chicken also had a strange texture. Really disappointed as this used to be one of my favourite meals out/takeaway and we don’t have it often so was a real shame.

Lovely evening out here, staff were all very polite and attentive. Food was piping hot and very tasty. We went on a Wednesday night and had the £14.95 special menu which was great value. A very wide selection of items on the menu to suit any palette

Nice atmosphere, attentive staff and food was lovely. Initially a mix up with my main meal, as vegetarian was brought but this was replaced with the mixed meat version very quickly and without hassle. But for the hiccup, would have rated 5 star.

Staff mixed up a prawn dish with a chicken dish, won't be going again potentially dangerous environment especially as was allergic to shell fish

I ordered lamb biriyani with lots of hope but it's turned out to be a total disaster. This is the worst version of peas polao I ever had in my life. I clearly mentioned in Cooking instructions to make it super spicy keeping in mind that local people are not habituated with spicy dishes. Hopelessly they made it stale and dull anyway! My taste buds are numb after having this. It's bursts my courage and hope to try out any place outside and have biriyani in future. I believe my taste buds will have this biriyani nightmare for rest of my life. This feels like being cheated in the name of Biriyani, love of an Indian! BE ALERT! THIS IS NOT BIRIYANI!

First time back in years and it's still just as good, awesome food and great service

I am very dissatisfied and disappointed. Normally the food is excellent.. However last night’s takeaway tasted of nothing. I had a chicken tikka masala & my fella had a chicken madras. No spice virtually cold. We ordered at 6.30 for collecting at 8. At 8.30 we were still waiting. We didn’t even get a sorry!!! What has happened??

Spent the day after scrapeing a sticky tikka from side of pan, vile bhuna

Can't fault the food at all as it really is exquisite, the service was sub-standard though. The lady that served us didn't really understand what a smile is and even had the audacity to make us pack our food ourselves when we asked for it to be boxed up. Small task was nonexistent and even though it wasn't busy, they acted as if it was a hastle to serve us.

Best curry in Weston (edit : centre) , I reckon. Good price and friendly service too. I have tried most places and now I won't go anywhere else. Edit : I have somehow found a better place now.

I was recommended this restaurant by a local taxi driver and what a recommendation! Superb menu, food and service. This is the best Indian food I've tasted so far in the UK. I'm not vegetarian but I did notice a full menu and the options looked better than normal for vegetarians. Excellent service and a really good meal. 10/10
