Hush in Shropshire

Hate writing a bad review but this was unbelievably poor. Paid £46 for 'ABBA entertainment, free cocktail on arrival and food'. When we arrived no one checked our tickets so we were able to just walk in.. the 'free cocktail' was a warm glass of wine and entertainment was someone running around with a blonde wig on every other hour with a mic and I think I only heard about 2 ABBA songs, the rest being random chart music. It was freezing inside and our heater wasn't working. The bar & staff was just chaos. They all seemed rather young, they were swearing and arguing with one another when serving people. I actually felt sorry for them as clearly they were overwhelmed hadn't got proper training in front of house. On a positive note the food although was cold due to the temperature in there, was actually not bad.

What a disgrace, would not recommend to my worst enemy. Why try to be something it’s not. Poor entertainment, drinks and food! Shocked that they are going to kill ‘Grease’ next

Having been to a fantastic ABBA themed night in Manchester just weeks before maybe my expectations were too high. But honestly this event was an embarrassment to all involved to be quite blunt. Where do I start... horrible food... vinegar "sangria" (i think it was supposed to be)... serious shortage of basic drinks at the bar... although perhaps the most disturbing and worrying feature is the quite obviously underage performers kicking their legs about looking extremely uncomfortable while some bloke (Ben) screams and shouts incoherently along to the Mama Mia soundtrack into a microphone while running up and down the venue also kicking his legs about quite a lot. Someone needs to tell him to please calm down or preferably, stop. I'm not a party pooper, in fact I'm usually the opposite, but I've seen better primary school performances and at £40 a head this event is a total rip off. Apparently they're going to ruin Grease in their next attempt at entertainment, I suggest they actually watch the film and learn the words before they go live with this one and maybe add a few dance moves other than kicking and running about crazily.

If I had taken 40 pounds from my pocket, and set it on fire, it would have been a better use of my hard-earned dosh. My review is much the same as others on here, I only wish I had read some of them before dragging my family to this horror show. Where to begin! It was 15 minutes late opening, on a very cold night, it wasn't very well heated inside either. The 'Welcome Drinks' which were poured and waiting on the bar before we were allowed into the venue (we heard the corks from outside), were left sitting there until well over an hour later when the prosecco was as flat as juice. The 'ABBA' experience that we had been promised amounted to 4 songs (I counted), shouted into a microphone but a young-ish chap in a horrendous blonde wig who clearly didn't know the words, while surrounded by underage workers all looking very confused. I felt sorry for some of them, who had obviously been thrown in at the deep end and looked very uncomfortable. Others were treating it like a frat party, paying no attention to guests whatsoever. The wine on offer tasted like gasoline, the food was clearly out of a bag of some description, and the manager was young, uninformed, and incredibly rude. At one point, a lady at the table next to ours collapsed, and the 'singer' just carried on! He had to be urged to stop shouting into the microphone in order for the music to be turned off and an ambulance to be called. We walked out after about two hours, with the main meal still to be served, there are limits to any level of human endurance, and this place had found ours. I cannot emphasise what a complete scam this place is, a horrible horrible waste of money. It is not even necessary to hope that this place will fail, since there is no possibility of it succeeding whatsoever. Everybody there on the night has the same Christmas wish, for this place never to scam anybody else!

Terrible night, we complained on the night and left early after the promise of a refund. We have since emailed asking for our refund and we have not received any replies or a refund! I would avoid this place at all costs. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

It is hard to know where to start to convey how awful this supposedly Abba themed evening turned out to be. In my reviews I always try to balance any negatives with positives but I am really struggling to find a single positive thing to say about Hush. The tickets weren't cheap but the whole production was cheap and amateur in the extreme. We were far from the only ones there who were appalled. In brief, the doors opened 15 minutes late, we were walked straight past the 'welcome drinks' laid out on the bar, six of us were seated at a table big enough only for four - unnecessarily as there were vacant tables available. Ordering a bottle of wine at the bar took over 15 minutes. When it came it had a cork and it took nearly another ten minutes for the bar staff to find a corkscrew. In the meantime, we went to collect the 'free' welcome drink ourselves. The first course took about an hour to arrive. It was edible. Other than four Abba songs, underwhelmingly performed by staff members, the music bore no relation to Greece or the Mamma Mia production it was supposed to represent. We actually felt rather sorry for the staff, who were obviously poorly trained and out of their depth, and the person whom we believe to be the manager was rude and unhelpful. The second course arrived after a couple of hours, by which time we were leaving, having been tortured quite enough. This is the very first time I have ever written a 100% bad review but I am afraid it is completely deserved. What a shame.

Absolutely amazing!!!!!! Negative comments about the food are so so WRONG, food was unreal and amazingly presented! Great value for money, they were huge portions! It may be cold because it’s WINTER but there are enough heaters and music/entertainment to keep you warm. Can’t recommend it enough, if you love ABBA, great performance and amazing atmosphere it’s the place for you. We had the BEST time.

Hush, the night we went, was one of the worst nights of my life. We paid forty pounds each for a "fun night" including starter, main and dessert. The evening started at 7.30pm and was expected to finish at 10pm, although one could stay for a disco afterwards. We waited well over an hour and half for the starter, which was a sharing mezze between 2 people. The wall heaters down our end of the room were not working and it was freezing. In the end, after two other tables of people got up and left as it was so cold, we decided to do the same and left at about 9.20pm. Apparently the main course came out just after we and about a good third of the people had vacated. This venue should not, in my opinion, have stayed open and accepted reservations this late in the year as obviously they can't cope.

Worst dinner experience ever! Freezing cold, food was cold because the venue was cold, performers poor quality particularly the host who tried putting all of the blame on everyone else but himself. Well sorry, but it's not our fault your venue is insufficient and you can't deal with complaints! No option of a refund despite half the people attending left before the main course. Already told others in my work place to not fall in the trap of being ripped off. Formal complaint sent to trading standards and environmental health.

Our night was eagerly booked in August, hoping for a fantastic ABBA experience of their wonderful songs- absorbing such an atmosphere all evening. There was no 'I HAD A DREAM - more like A NIGHTMARE instead. We all have never been to a nightclub where we kept our Winter coats, gloves etc on ALL evening. The heaters above us weren't working and lame excuses were given. The drinks were diluted down so much that they could have been forgiven for being pure H2O. The so called entertainment was appalling and the guy dressed in a blonde wig plus dungarees was running around like something possessed adding frequent rude remarks. We had a cold platter of some items classed as Tapas but everything was inedible. A few tables left before us, we stuck the cold out until 9.15pm'ish but then departed to the warmth and decent drinks at home. The main course apparently arrived just as we left- oh what a shame (not). We shall never be making repeat visits to your establishment and will definitely not be recommending it. The owner of 'The Silverton' , a hotel which occupied the property several years ago and appeared on 'Four in a Bed" must be incredibly embarrassed to see what's happened to it now.

A pure waste of money, not an ABBA night as described, mediocre entertainment. Food and drink was not very pleasant. Having researched the company, none of the businesses seem to be successful. Maybe get one right before you start another. Won’t be recommending

We had a really fun night, the owner and all the staff gave their all for you to have a good night. It was a little cold due to some heaters not working, but once you are up dancing that was forgotten, authentic tasting food, which was nice and what we were expecting. I would recommend for all ages our group ranged from 10 years to 61 years and we all came home with big smiles. Give this place a go, it's well worth it.

Gimme more warmth- frozen due to a row of heaters not working. Gimme more timely food from advertised menu - 7pm start, 80 mins before starter served. Shared platters with a cold pitta, cold meatball, hard ?halloumi cubes & dip. Awful tasting bought drinks. Gimme more Abba theme- only a few songs whilst there for 2 1/2 hours. Any ‘entertainment’ from hosts lost in our half of room despite young people in aisles trying hard. Left around 9.30pm along with many others due to poor organisation as no main course had even appeared & too cold. Sooo …. disappointing for a £40 event that was finishing at 10pm !

As others have stated, freezing cold,budget food ( nibbles) and drinks of very poor quality,poor organisation. Not what I would call entertainment, VERY young ‘entertainment staff’ just frolicking around, Not a single thing that I could align to a wonderful party atmosphere. At £40 per head, come on owners you know you are ripping people off !
