I wonder how this pub feels they are helping young and older women feel safe by displaying pornographic images of women in the men’s toilets. It seems incredibly irresponsible and culturally completely out of step in 2023. Displaying photographs of semi naked men in the women’s toilet does not balance the offence. You can do better than this.

The venue was recommended to me so I filled out the reservations form the evening before. The next day, the day of the reservation, I called but it went to voicemail so I left my details. I’d still had no confirmation. The lack of communication from the venue was frustrating. My party of 3 turned up, no reservation had been put in place, sullen uninterested staff. We deserve better than this in London. Certainly a venue to avoid. We left and ate elsewhere in Dalston.

I love this pub for the vibe and decor and being local to me. However I recently visited with 2 friends and the red wine was frankly undrinkable (3 different ones were tried). There is no excuse these days for serving crap wine - up your game please. Get a professional involved if you don't know to choose.

Went for Sunday roast with my wife and her parents. The roasts seemed okay, if not spectacular. But my mother-in-law and myself both got violently ill later that night at the same time. I had eaten nothing else that day. I'm not sure what they did, but the food safety practices in the kitchen need to be audited.

The most delicious Sunday roast across London. Unpretentious & hearty, the beef and Yorkshire’s are heavenly (although the parsnips need cooking longer and crisping up!)

Seguramente podrían haber echado un vistazo al circuito cerrado de televisión, mirar los recibos de la caja, preguntar al hombre del bar en cuestión (era joven, tenía el pelo castaño y llevaba puesto un gorro negro todo el turno, no es difícil que se lo pierda). Opulent without being pretentious. Sexy barman. Lovely cheese board. Perfect place to spend a Sunday evening. Great mix of locals and visitors. Definitely recommend a visit.

Can’t recommend my local highly enough. Guy behind bar sorted us a seat immediately even though it was uber busy! Cosy and wholesome vibes. Perfect food. Artichoke soup blew my mind. Would bang again. 10/10.

I've been to hundreds of pubs in my day. This one ranks easily in the Top 5. It must be one of the best pubs in London. Sure, the wall art is a little controversial and not to my taste - but the rest of the place is exactly what you look for in a pub. Good beer, great food and intimate spaces to catch-up with mates and lots of space outside for those roaring summer months. Definitely give it a whirl. The Sunday roast is amazing. The veggie roast - probably the best!

We actually stayed next door and this was a joy to be so close as we were exhausted in the heat! The staff were very helpful and attentive and the food was yummy.

¡Tuvimos un fabuloso asado de los domingos! ! Buena comida, buena con alergias (sin gluten y vegetariana) y un buen servicio. Aparentemente son conocidos por sus baños, que encontramos ser géneronormativos y no iguales entre hombres y mujeres, pero por lo demás un gran establecimiento.

It's great to go to a pub that's got real character. The food and drink are OK but everyone comments on the giant taxidermy decor. A real favourite. Haven't eaten here but normally come here for drinks. I wish more places in this part of town had real individuality rather than identikit airspace interiors.

The Hunter S is a fabulous pub in the heart of Islington! Food, drinks & service are fantastic and the perfect venue for a Sunday lunch! I'd recommend the Beef Wellington (shared between 2 people)...you won't be disappointed.

Estamos en Londres para un evento, alojados en la puerta de lujo junto a Hunter S así que decidimos entrar para unos tragos antes de seguir por la comida, sin embargo, quedamos tan impresionados nos alojamos por comida.

La cena era buena - la hamburguesa y patatas fritas eran sabrosas y llegó a tiempo. Pedimos muchas rondas de bebidas entre un grupo grande. El Bloody Mary era muy buena, a pesar de no tener ningún apio (pedimos algunos, pero aparentemente no había apio en toda la cocina). Más tarde, nos sirvieron algunas rondas de disparos. - el camarero llegó una rubia dio una orden. Él la botella en la nevera y stroppily solicite el pago. Me señaló el corto y él me dijo que pedir bebidas de otro camarero si no estaba contento con el pedido. Excellent food, atmosphere and clientele. Its not cheap but it's worth it. The staff are awesome and great location.

Visiting our family in London we went to the Hunter S for lunch. Menu was comprehensive without being too long and all the food was excellent. Service was friendly and helpful. The place had a good atmosphere with a mixture of clients.

No he tenido un servicio tan horrible en un año de comer como un celiacos en Londres.

Reservé un espacio en el Hunter S el viernes 2 de septiembre para una copa antes de la boda el día antes de la boda de mi hija. Elegí el pub porque estaba justo al lado de la Luxury Inn donde los invitados de una boda.

Fui la última noche por mi cumpleaños. Unos 20 de nosotros en una preciosa mesa larga. Excelente comida y excelente ubicación y espacio. Sin duda volveremos pronto.

My mum is very good mates with the owner and has been many time but this was my first visit and i was super impressed.The decor is fabulous and the food is fantastic! Came here for dinner for my 18th birthday was treated like a princess. Was my first time at a gastro pub and i was nervous as i am a very fussy eater, but the menu had lots of different things to choose from that i would eat!

Have been here a few times. Great decor, friendly staff and amazing food. Great buzz to the place and isn't just full of trendies with a nice mixture of young and locals. The house red is delicious.

My boyfriend and I had an unexpected great visit to this gastro pub. Located near Dalston, this gastro pub was quite unassuming on the outside. However the interior was suitable for diners wanting modern British or international dishes. For a Sunday evening, the place was filled with friends, couples and a large group. It was cosy on the inside with small tables and a traditional leather couch area as well as large table for groups. Overall it was cosy with soft jazzy swing music. The food was fresh , delicious and the prices was reasonable for the area; we had the Thai beef salad with chilli and ginger dressing, pork and fennel croquettes with apple sauce and large bowl of fries (all to be recommended! ). The staff were friendly and provided good service. The only thing that may put off some diners would be the stuffed animals scattered around in the walls as part of the decor. Having read the reviews for this place, I could only give high praise to this gastro pub which I think is amazing find in the local area. Do give this place a visit soon!

Amazing beef Wellington and great atmosphere. Bartenders über efficient and friendly... Great menu and gooooood gin and tonic! That's all you need from a great pub. would highly recommend.

Just attended a bit of a lose birthday meal for a friend on a Sunday afternoon in Hunter S. Had to come on to say the staff were lovely, the food came at the right time for a considerable sized table and mainly I have logged on to say the Beef Wellington for two was one of the nicest meals Iva had in a long time. Totally worth the money, great quality meat it was DIVINE. Chips were a little bulky and dry but the rest made up for it. Will go again for sure and really recommend it.

Been coming here regularly with friends for over a year,5-6 lads for a midweek beer most weeks so we put quite a bit if money over the bar.Came in on the Wednesday before Xmas,got a table as there were 6 of us,bar was well understaffed,most of the time only one guy serving very slowly.After 45 minutes we were told to move as they preferred to sit people who may order food ,even though we had checked that it was an unreserved table.The guy who insisted we moved was rude and as bar service was glacial at best we left and went to the Scolt Head.There are a lot of struggling pubs in London,and although we are older and not new to the area hipsters( none of us have beards or ride fixies) this is no way to treat regulars who come in and spend well.I hope thus place joins the many failed pubs in this area as that is what the staff deserve.

We went for a group meal and there was a slight ' disagreement' about the bill- which we were being fine about. The guy behind the bar started to get angry and had a horrible attitude- and then started a fight with one of my friends- he came from behind the bar and was violent towards all us - pushing us - even girls!!! Enough said Horrible attitude from all bar staff who didn't try to stop it either! The food is nice though

over-styled gastropub type of place, foods ok. its fairly cheap so thats good. nice beers. id recommend giving it a go.

Went last night for a bite and drink. The staff was super friendly, food was delicious ! We had the Goujons, risotto and burger with wine and drinks, very affordable for the quality. Great decor !

Hahaha - We have been there are few times and seem to always order the Beef Wellington only to have found out they have just sold out. All the food we have had there though, the burgers, mussels etcs., were very good and can't wait to head back there again soon.

The Hunter S is located in the transport limbo land of Hackney, fifteen minutes walk from the nearest tube (Highbury and Islington). To anyone outside of London or living in Zone 4 and beyond, that sounds like a spoiled Zone 2 resident whine, but it's worth mentioning. This is not a destination venue, where I would recommend people making a journey just for the food. The Hunter S, if you can forgive the achingly trendy East London name, is a decent local boozer that does quality food at reasonable-ish prices (for London standards). If you live nearby or happen to be in the area, it's worth checking out. For my main course I had pork belly with black pudding and herb mash. No surprises on the menu and I went for a reliable option. in fact so similar are gastropubs menus these days, you wonder if they save costs by sharing using the same text. But the chefs have all probably watched the same episodes of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, so they keep it simple and concentrate on what they can deliver. My dish was well, pork slightly overcooked, otherwise very creditable. We were a party of eight and everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves and their food. Service was attentive and polite, which regular top ups on beers and whiskeys, which led to a very sore head the next day. The ambience is cosy, music not to loud and there's a bonus of some artistic (ahem) photos in the gents toilets. Apparently the ladies is similarly decorated. So this is not a damning with faint praise review, if this was my local, I would most likely be regular, not least to check out the saucy 'art' pictures in the loos.

Gave our table away because (in their words) we were "three minutes late", and got pretty arsey about it when we complained. Who gives away a table after three minutes? Any serious restaurant will allow 5 - 10 minutes either side of booking. Either they are massively inexperienced or unbelievabley rude. Actually they came across as both. Food was pretty well cooked, but nothing particularly stood out and it's not great value for money.

Quite simply, do not go here. The bad food, drinks and staff made for a miserable evening that was highly over priced.

I went here in December 2014 and it was the worst experience of a pub/restaurant I have ever had. The food was inedible and over priced, and the staff were insanely rude. I would not recommend anyone to ever go here, and will never be returning.

Never ever returning here, especially as I was told after complaining last week that "if we didn't like it and felt our complaint was not dealt with properly I suggest you don't come back" by a manager. So i'm taking his advise!My friend and I both ordered the turkey roast for £17 dinner. This was about £17 each. The turkey was awful, dry and tasted really processed, like a cheap cut of meat. The parma ham which wassupposed to be wrapped around the turkey was limp and flavourless.Neither of us barely ate any of the meat. The veg came in a pitiful amount, I was actually able to count the slithers of carrot on my plate, there were 4. There was a pitiful amount of gravy and no cranberry sauce like the menu said. My other friend ordered the "veggie" option (also £17) lunch. When her plate came out it was so ridiculous it was laughable. It was just a plate full of vegetables. with no sauce what so ever. So then she was offered an alternative, she chose to have a veggie burger and I can honestly say I have had better tasting veggie burgers at 3am in a kebab shop which I pay about £3 for.She took one bite, I took one bite to try and again, most of her meal was untouchedThe Service was the most insulting experience of the nightMy friend had to clear our table of empty drinks glasses 4 times.We were passed from staff member to staff member. When we made a complaint to the manager, he failed to come over to our table until we wanted to ay the billThe staff were all frustratingly nonchalant. They all kept giving excuses of"I didn't take the order" when we were complaining about the food.I was also told by the manager which I was quite surprised about that "people think we are a gastro pub, but we aren't, we are just a boozer with food" well then surely the prices should reflect this poor opinion of their food? He also told us the kitchen had a table of 25 on at the same time. I really DETEST this excuse. You are a large pub, a pub that serves food, if you thought booking a table of 5 at the same time as having a table of 25 in then simply don't book both at the same time. We were also told that the staff (chef and waiters) were "burnt out" as it had been a busy Christmas period. I wonder if I can use this excuse to my boss in work? The manager has since refused to deal with our complaint, telling us at the time that he did not have the authority to discount our bill even though he is the manager

Rude staff, average food for the price. #hipsterwankers if this what it is to be 'cool' to be seen here....I'll stick to homemade and bond movies. Shall not return. Go to the three crowns, stokey!

I love this place! Close to work we often pop in for an after work drink. The service is great - really friendly bunch - create a really nice vibe. I have enjoyed all the food I have eaten there - reasonably priced and good quality. The sweet potato fries are a treat!The decor is quirky and different. I LOVE the toilets but they are not for the prudish! I will be back often - and recommend a visit to anyone - and make sure you visit the toilet whilst you are there!!

This is my local and I am so pleased!Good food, wine and real ales, that are reasonably priced. Very helpfull staff.Burgers are excellent as are the side order of honey mustard chipolatas. Very good Sunday roast as well. The place is always busy so you will need to boook. A great place for relaxing with friends at the weekend, enjoying good food and wine.

A good friend of ours held her birthday bash at the Hunter S on Saturday. It seems there were two quite large parties that evening that had booked areas and this may go some way to explaining the shoddy service and in my case decidedly average food. The waitress who was looking after our table singlehandedly was an absolute legend, friendly and diligent; but the poor thing seemed to be doing everything on her own. I ordered the belly pork; which turned out to be a rolled belly pork strip with overly sweet red cabbage and an under seasoned layered potato dish. Very disappointing.I’ve been to the Hunter S a number of times; always because friends are having a celebration there. The décor is superb, the food is always average and the thing that gets me every time and something I genuinely can’t get my head around is the rudeness of the bar staff and why this is tolerated. Rarely is a please or thank you muttered and the too cool for school attitude just comes across as rude. I have watched the Scots barman (he could even be management) at work on a number of times and I’ve never seen such a combative, less eager to serve barmen in my entire life. The disdain he treats customers with needs to be seen to be believed. But he looks quite cool, so that makes it alright in this style over substance establishment. Awful bar staff, very average food, good beer and lovely décor. I won’t be going back unless under duress (someone is having a do there)!

I love this pub, with its taxidermied walls and its well-mannered staff. The roast is good value, with plenty on the plate, although the beer selction did not quite satisfy my guest, we did settle on a nice ale to enjoy to settle our tummies! This place makes me happy its sunday, and sunday roast day!

An interesting new gastro-pub named after Hunter Stockton Thompson. Food and service were excellent and the wines not too pricey for London. The food was interestingly different from many other locales. Somewhat unusual decor ... brass ceiling in the dining area and animal heads on the walls ... and a huge chandelier.
