Hunsbury Fish Bar in Northampton

I have been going to this chip shop for many years and always find the food good quality, friendly staff, service times can vary depending on time of day / year you go in. I would always recommend our local chippy and East Hunsbury wouldn’t be the same with it in our community.

Rude service and soggy slimy fish. Stodgy chips. Not nice at all. Won’t be going back.

we got chips and a large cod and it was delicious, nice and hot, the lady who served me was very friendly, will come again.

I have been hoing to the fish and chips store for over 6ish years and honestly i haver tried their food but I’ve always gotten chips. Their chip amazing! I always either get a large chips with salt or 2 large chips with salt. Amazing honestly!

Worst service, Iv been to this place 7/8 times and Iv never met somebody so rude! The lady that takes the order doesn’t smile, no customer service and completely rude. They are stingy with their portions other than chips!

Had fish and chips and got free food poisoning for afters. 13 hours vomiting and diarrhoea is what followed after eating at this dirty disgusting place. Contaminated fish, this place needs closing down.

Visited here while staying in nearby hotel, I decided to have a large donor kebab, the meat was in a warmer and pulled out with tongs, not cut off fresh. To be fair there was plenty of nice crispy salad, it wasn't bad overall . Staff were pleasant enough.

I'm afraid I'll never be able to review the quality of the food. Looked up open fish and chip shops online when visiting the area, arrived to find them closed. The sign on their door said they should be open, no temporary notice, nothing. Maybe they are out of business?

sorry but every time we come down for the long weekend to silverstone we have 2 evening meals at buddies diner and we come and get a fish supper from here and we have never had any complaints with the food, the staff are polite and can get quite chatty at times. this will always be one of our eateries so long as we keep coming to silverstone

Avoid this place if you want a good fish & chips experience. Very greasy chips, quite a few hard chips and under cooked batter for the battered sausages, which just fell straight off the sausage as no rice flour used to help batter stick to sausage.

Very clean, good food and very friendly staff, good service.

Ordered food, nothing was written down, I was just nodded at and told "ten minutes". I went to the Tesco next door, thinking once back my order would be ready. No... I waited a further 20-30 minutes in the shop as customer after customer was served. I ended up walking out with no food. Probably a good thing as after I watched all staff change stations, all staff handle cash and very little hand washing. A small example of why they have a 3 star hygiene rating. Wont be going back.

I 'm sorry to say that the fish and chips I just got from the hunsbury fish bar was disgusting The chips were warned up and not fresh the fish has so much batter on it you hardly find the fish. Very greasy. So disappointed as I' ve been going there for some time

This is our local fish and chips and we wouldn't go anywhere else! The people who work there are always lovely and friendly. Everything is fresh and cooked well!

Cheap & cheerful, always decent food. I've never had any complaints in all the years that I have been using them. 👍

Ordered cod and chips from here over the weekend. Chips where ok cod was very greasy! Then spent the rest of the weekend with my head in the toilet! Safe to say i will NOT be returning!

Very good fish and chips love their batter

Been living here for 20 years now, what i wouldn't do for a decent chip shop. The chips for a start are rarely fresh. Some years ago they got in kebab and I asked them for some mint sauce (30p ish?) They refused. The staff can be rude, and they dont take cards?? We live in a good area where very few people carry cash (you have to wonder why #HMRC). Most people i meet say exactly the same thing.

Food is OK. Portions are terrible. Extremely tight with size of chip portions I feel like they want you to buy a large when u want to share a normal portion. Even took some chips off once when they asked if I wanted a large portion. Give preference to other customers they know and make u wait even if you ordered first.

Never had bad service here. The fish and chips are fresh not too oily. Great portions! There's always a queue on Friday nights but well worth it

I placed a fairly sizeable order, they got it all right, every one enjoyed it, it was prepared fairly quickly even though the fish was all fried to order, and the price was perfectly reasonable. Nothing to complain about.

Just straight up avoid, the fish had no taste whatsoever, tasted like the fish had been frozen for years. The woman serving also ripped us off and refused to acknowledge she did so count your change and check your food, if you are brave enough to eat here.

They might do great fish and chips if we had the chance to taste them. Internet said they open on a Sunday 11am-11pm so we made a 10 mile special journey to find they were closed. Update your details on the net please!

Great place to get your fish and chips.Its the only place i can get Rock Salmon.
