Very clean and staff were very polite and quick service

Better to go after 7:30 pm as seems to settle down and crowd has gone and more pleasant atmosphere

The breakfast was well priced but slightly overcooked. The fried eggs were all firm and not runny, and the sausages chewy.

Good sized portion of food offering good value for money. Had to remind them that I had ordered a hot drink which hadn't been delivered - used restaurant not the hotel.

Very nice food and good deals on the drinks but the thing that makes me want to come back is the staff. The bar staff were incredible very attentive and always smiling. Some of the best customer service skills I’ve received ever I believe there names where Becca and Beth.

Had a wonderful time at The Weathervane! The pub has a great atmosphere with a fantastic selection of drinks and food. Special thanks to the gorgeous Nikki for her friendly and attentive service—she made the visit even better. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!

Have been a lot of late as having work done on my house and have no complaints. However my visit this week was totally different, the food was just ok but the tables were filthy and when not walking on carpet my feet were sticking to the floor.

Food good, atmosphere ok but on a personal level, hate being called a guy!! Seems all the staff are trained to welcome you with, hi GUYS, everything ok with your meal GUYS, GUYS this, GUYS that, it REALLY annoys me.

We stopped here to grab a quick bite to eat. It's super easy to get to just off the A50. The staff were incredibly friendly and Brett made the service extra special. Good grub.

Recently visited the weathervane with my family, great pub food and great service.

A good price, clean place, open late on a Sunday with plenty of space and we all enjoyed the food. There are good vegetarian and vegan options.. I wish I'd found it a day earlier tbh

Toilet seat was broken,dirty carpets, all round grubiness mould in bathroom and window frame,not worth the money spent

A delightful visit following a busy day at Alton towers. Baillie and Lewis gave exceptional customer service going above and beyond during our meal. Food was delicious and came out in a reasonable time. We will definitely be returning!

Stayed during a visit to Alton Towers and rooms were clean enough maybe needed updating or a lick of paint but adequate for somewhere to sleep, all staff were polite and helpful food was lovely i would definitely return as the staff were amazing and made you feel welcome and like a member of family

I've been a regular customer at the weathervane for some years but haven't attended much since the revamp and been told that it's wasn't as good as before. I took my family for a meal and the place was busy but the food came in very good time and the food was absolutely fantastic and from the quality and service we received I would highly recommend it

Went for breakfast, really enjoyed it. Lots of options and very affordable. Fruit was fresh and food was hot. We were served by a man called Brett and he was very friendly and helpful.

Avoid. All was wrong. Rude staff, especially waitress called Bailey. The manager at least explained some things however not in a very friendly manner either. The food arrived with one main meal missing. No explanation not even apology. Had to chase it ourselves with uninterested staff. Customer service doesn't exist here. Ruined our day. Will never go back. Disgusted with staff behaviour. One of the worst hungry horse pubs.

Came here for just a meal on 16.03.24. We had a lovely server who I believe was called Baille, she had a great conversation with my stepsister about her Stitch jumper. All food was really well prepared and tasted great. The place was nice and clean and the decor was super cool, love the phones on the wall.

Seriously overcooked peas AGAIN. Peas only need 3 minutes not half an hour.

We popped in for a bite to eat as we were in the area. The pub was clean and there was plenty of parking. The portions were more generous compared to other Greene king pubs we go to. The sweet nachos were very greasy and I would not recommend them, although I think they are being taken off the menu soon anyway. We sat in a booth which could fit 6 easily. The only thing that put us off was a very loud woman who decided to take a phone call but felt the need to shout her conversation. Would return when in the area

food average! after a 30m wait, (only 8 customers in there!) OK until a couple were allowed to bring Staffy Bull dog into restaurant. Not very hygienic. And a bicycle covered in mud!

Basic pub grub, nothing to shout about. Selection and prices are OK. Never stayed in the Hotel.

I go for breakfast, for the price, it's really good, genuinely, and I recommend it to anyone who's willing to listen.

Waited an hour and a half for food after ordering upon going to bar to ask where food was to be told the order had not been put through system at all and would we like to re order and wait again no thank you terrible service wint be visiting again

Came here with a rugby team on tour. The staff were brilliant and coped with all the shenanigans that such an occasion brings. Good honest food and quality beer. That said, the rooms were getting a little tired, but they were clean and perfect for our needs as a base of operations. Would have no trouble staying here again or suggesting to anyone as a clean and affordable alternative when staying in this neck of the woods.

We popped into The Weathervane for a quick early evening meal. Areas of the pub were cordoned off with tacky plastic chain link and we were not able to find a seat where we could comfortably sit quietly and talk as we ate. The food was delivered and we were unceremoniously told that we had to fetch our own cutlery. I thought we had come to a restaurant not Morrisons cafe. Considering that this is a pub chain ,I would recommend that future patrons go to The Hem Heath pub which is also a Hungry Horse/Green King pub where you will be served with alot more care and attention. Currently after being here about a half hour, we have not been asked how our food was. At least at Morrisons cafe ,members of staff will ask you if your food is OK. Sadly, as I have eaten here previously in days gone by, this venue is not what it was. Disappointed 😞

We needed an affordable place to stay in Stoke whilst visiting family. The Weathervane was reasonable and well situated for both the family and for the city centre. The accommodation was clean, the staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was worth the price. The rooms are basic but are well priced and were more than adequate for what we needed.

Double room for the night, business trip, booked at last minute, room good, nice full length bath. Reception service on arrival was limited and waiting to find manager. Food of evening meal not that good, steak n ale pie not recommended, virtually no meat, the two small pieces, one was just grissle, pastry ok, gravy was tasty. Lasagne was ok, thin in depth, not much meat in layers, very cheesy which was best bit. Didn't stay in morning to try breakfast, chose to do a sausage n egg m muffin over the road. :(

We called in this morning for breakfast. We were greeted by a very helpful, polite and well presented young lady. She directed us to a seat and took our order promptly. The food was excellent and presented accordingly. This was our first experience at this establishment and as a result of the excellent service we received today will definitely going back. Thank you

This probably seems harsh but unfortunately we need to consider the overall experience. On arrival to the hotel it took around 15-20 minutes for someone to check us in despite ringing the bell on reception several times, using the phone to speak to a staff member to let them know we were at reception and then also speaking to someone at the bar who also said someone will be with us shortly. When we eventually got to the room, we were tired after travelling and spending a day at the nearby Alton Towers and immediately when walking to our room through the corridor we were greeted with a musty smell, we get to our room and the door knob is damaged on the door, hanging off and when we entered the room, there was again an overwhelming smell of dampness coming from the room so we immediately opened up the window to freshen up the air in the room. After unpacking and settling the kids down, we started to have a little horror shock at the condition of the room and I have attached pictures to this review. The bathroom had loads of mould around the bath and along the tiles in the room and the floor was seperating from the wall in the bathroom, the ceiling was filthy and very dirty and the door handle looked like it had seen better days and felt dirty to touch. The radiator in the room did not work and looked like it had been taken out of a scrap heap as it was so rusty if a child cut themselves on that they'd need some tetanus shots. There were some questionable stains / marks on the carpet which didn't look pleasing at all. The ceiling was full of cob webs and again the marks on the ceiling followed through into the main room and the surfaces in the room (bedside units and dresser table) were not in very good condition and had a certain 'smell' emitting from them. The window was very poor in the room, it does not block out any outside noise so all you can hear is traffic and early morning there are delivery lorries immediately outside the window. The general area, did not feel very safe as when I was collecting items from the car there were homeless people rummaging through the overflowing bins outside smashing bottles from the bins on the ground. The staff we spoke to were friendly enough and really nice people and its a shame the hotel has not had any investment and is in such a dire state. The Hungry Horse restaurant is lovely, food is delicious and friendly staff, only downside here is we were left waiting ages for dessert to be brought out and had to ask for it 3 times before receiving it. The morning full English breakfast was nice although portions are a bit small compared to other hotels which offer a buffet style breakfast for the same price. The bed was very comfy and the linen was nice and clean and the location was good for Alton Towers as it only took 10-15 minutes to get back to the hotel and the roads are not busy. Easy access to the motorway to get back home and a local Tesco opposite to get the forgotten essentials or some last minute things. Would love to visit again, but not in the hotels current state, it does need some modernisation and investment by Greene King as it is so ideally located.

Just stayed the one night as I was passing through. The place was spot on. My room was perfectly clean. Good selection of food and drink in the bar. The hotel manager was such a nice lady. She was so helpful.

This venue is well lit from the moment you walk in. The first thing you notice is the friendly staff ready to serve your needs and welcome you into a bubbly bright environment. Once sat down at my table I felt right at home and enjoyed a lovely cuppa tea and beautiful burger from their wide menu of choice. Eliza was very welcoming and ensured that my meal and my brew were up to scratch and kept a smile on her face throughout the service.

Absolute bargain! Lovely food, dont wait long to be served, plenty of seating space available and location is ok. Staff are great and the service is fantastic. Thank you! Will be returning

Nice enough, busy, family orientated, food good value.

Came yesterday for Xmas lunch. We have been coming here for the last few years which have been excellent but sorry yesterday was a let down. Felt rushed, only just taken off our coats and the starters were there. Steak was very chewy so we took home for the dog and dinner not as good as previous years. Every couple of minutes we were asked if everything was ok guys, which was annoying . Sorry guys

Great food, great drinks, great service. Our local eatery which never fails to deliver an all round top notch experience. All staff are great but Ellie was exceptional and made sure everything was on spot. 10/10

We had a two night stay and had our meals in the restaurant on both evenings. Good quality food, value for money and lovely staff. Our room was clean and comfortable and fairly quiet. We have an EV and delighted to see a bank of 8 ChargePoint chargers in the car park. No problem charging (although some EV spaces taken by non-EV cars!!). For anyone wanting to use the chargers, you need to download the ChargePoint app.

We visited The Weathervane on Saturday night and I have to say the service was outstanding. It was very busy but nothing was to much trouble. Myself and my family had a wonderful time and will definitely be back again soon. Thank you team.

We visited on 31/8/23 with our 11 month old son. He was getting upset because he had been unwell. A lovely lady called Ellie came over and took George for a walk around the pub, giving us the chance to eat our food. She was brilliant with him and he really took to her. We just want to say a huge thank you, it made a real difference. We wanted to speak to the manager to give our praise, but it was extremely busy. If you do an employee of the month, we would love to nominate Ellie, she is a real credit to your business, and deserves to be recognised for how lovely she is, and for going above and beyond. Had a really nice early dinner with a child. Excellent service and lovely food! The Bangin’ Katsu Banquet was amazing! And my son really enjoyed his double cheeseburger. The new Horseshoe Homer desert was also more than enough for the two of us to share! Well worth the money.

After a long day at Alton towers we decided to have our meal at the Weathervane as we were staying in its hotel. The food was some of the best we've had ( steak, fish and chips and the new katsu banquet) compliments and thanks to the chef! Also the service was amazing the staff here are so lovely and a special mention to Bailie for being so welcoming and having a good sense of humour. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend!

Stayed for 3 nights during a family Alton towers break. Dined in the restaurant and had drinks 2 nights in a row with the food being spot on and excellent service from the staff..Beth, Jess H, Nicola, Bailie and Matt! Will be back next year for another horseshoe homer🍩 thanks guys!

We had a pleasant stay, the bonus was a bath in the bath room. The room was simple and comfortable. We ate not expecting too much from the associated pub. Food was nice but standard chain fare, we enjoyed it and the price was reasonable! I ate from the NGCI menu and had no after effects from possible cross contamination in the kitchen which can be a worry!

We came in to have a breakfast, waited half an hour for it although there was only a few people in, we were told to collect our own cutlery while others had been given theirs. The food was appalling it was cold and you could tell it had been sitting there for some time. We will not be returning again.
