Me , my nan and brother , have recently visited the hungry horse in the bilsely recently. The table was ok , but the service left us appalled , when we ordered the food the staff informed us that it would be a 15 minute wait , however we had to wait 40 minutes. When we received the food , one of my courses were nachos and were meant to be hot , but we got them freezing cold and the staff had said that they would change it , leaving us to wait another 10 minutes.we then ordered dessert which was Apple crumble , we had to wait another 30 minutes for it to arrive when we got the food it was warm but tasted like out-of-date porridge. When we went home we where not feeling good me and my nan has diarrhoea . I will NEVER go there again

Staff were polite. Did not wait long for food to arrive. Food was hot and cooked according to everyone's preference, apart from the sauces which didn't come on the side as requested with the meals. They had run out of sweet potatoe fries and seasoned fries were recommended, avoid the seasoned fries as they just throw some sort of seasoning powder over regular fries which really does nothing to add flavour to the taste, but that's just my opinion. The outside was clean and there is an outdoor play area for the kids. I would rate my visit as being a little better than average more good but not very good. Opt for their main meals deals and offers as it keeps the cost down and you won't be disappointed when you get a small portion of what you've ordered, in particular the sides that accompany your main. They don't have offers on desserts and what they do have isn't to everyone's taste. My visit was on a weekday early afternoon, so the pub was not busy or full, please bear this in mind. Overall cleanliness inside ok.

Had a £5 voucher so took advantage of its. Whatever way you look at it the hungry horse brand is popular with families. Upon ordering was told my food would be a 45 minute wait, which was fine as wasn’t in a rush and appreciate how busy it is. Ordered the beef and ale pie with mash and peas. Come out within 25 minutes so even better. Food was piping hot ok the mash looked like it was microwaveable but the pie made up for it was very crusty and lot of beef in filled me. Staff seem polite so in short will visit again and thank you for a lovely meal

When my husband went to cancel our order and get a refund, we were told that the kitchen hadn't even started cooking it yet!

I have always seen this pub but never have been inside as I expected it to be atypical of the usual family friendly food chains.!Visited on Thursday just to kill some time as we were between our children's nap times! Upon entering firstly I was impressed by the large warm and welcoming atmosphere this pub offers, the cleanliness and facilities for children are exceptional.Tempted by our surroundings we decided to take a peek at the menu and was instantly overwhelmed by the fantastic offers available. We ordered two mains for £7.99 which was fantastic value. We enjoyed ourselves we then ended up ordering desserts which once again was exceptional and amazing value - worth a visit just for that! The bar staff and the manager were super friendly and were so helpful, the booths also has televisions embedded with CBeebies on which was amazing for keeping my little one entertained while we ate, I also thought this was a lovely touch and not seen this in a restaurant before. The only reason why this review falls short of the full 5 is because of one staff member who I found to be particularly rude and unhelpful, she was exiting the ladies toilet as I went to change my child's nappy. Out of politeness people tend to hold doors open however she simply waited for me to step aside and then walked past me, I then struggled to get into the closing door the toilet with my baby in one hand and all the changing equipment in my other hand. With a clear objective of changing a nappy I went in only to find no changing table? I left and the same staff member was now clearing plates - I asked did they have change facilities she simply said "down there". I found this to be really rude and put a dampener on what had been a lovely day. Considering that to use the facilities required a key which is kept behind the bar, the rude staff member failed to inform me me of this due to her poor attitude.Would visit again and if I see this staff member with the same attitude I will be complaining to management.Good spot for meeting with friends for quick bites with the kids, plenty of high chairs, kids food choices and an outdoor play area if the weather is nice.

Well it still irritates me that the run of the mill pub I.E. Hungry horse cannot and will not make a fresh burger. I feel the cow that made my burger had perished some time ago and had been cooked from frozen. Dry and tough lacking in any moisture not a drop of oil and it was the first time I wished for grease just to help the bungled monstrosity that I consumed reach my stomach without causing me problems. I wasn't that fortunate overall I would avoid the burgers as If my life depended on it. Also I must point out that my fellows Diners food also was dull and depressing. The death of British pubs is reaching a horid climax.

Having been here on many occasions and had no complaints apart from children running round which is down to their parents, on this occasion we arrived at 4pm to be told there was a 20 min wait for a table for 2 which was fine but looking around the pub there were tables waiting to be cleared which was contributing to the wait. In all fairness we only waited the stated time and was shown to a table which seated 6 people, it was a table for 4 and a table for 2 pushed together so it would have made sense to separate the tables so someone else could have been seated instead of which we occupied a table for 6 when there was only 2 of us. Although we enjoyed the food most of the veg pots were nearly empty and the condements needed to be filled up. The young ladies on the door were very pleasant and polite but in our opinion it needs maitre d . whilst we were waiting we saw at least 20 people come in and when told of the wait they just walked straight back out so business was lost .Don't think we will be eating here again as over time since first opening we noticed a considerable decline in what was a pleasant pub.

Also one of the side orders that was made never turned up..

Went here to have a Carvery and a drink. Chef serving was friendly enough but when I asked for the sauces to be topped up the Chef shook their head at me! At first I thought they were joking but I soon realised they weren't as they told me to 'find a waitress as it's their job to fill them'....so there I am standing with my plate of food going cold, holding an empty bowl of sauce whilst scanning the place for a waitress. The Chef then said that they would fill the sauce bowl for me. When she came out with the sauce she did apologise. So why cause all this negative feeling if they were going to do it anyway. Bearing in mind this was done in front of other customers. I work myself in a pub and it doesn't matter if a Customer asks the Chef or Waiter to fill the sauces....we just do it! Also the pints we were served although tasted ok were actually completely 'headless' due to the Bar staff overfilling the glass causing the 'froth' to spill into the drip tray. I didn't mention this as the girl looked as though she was slightly overwhelmed being on the bar mostly on her own.

Meals arrived, Steak cooked good, Kids nuggets perfect but how can you have a 1ft long hot dog with no onions (advertised as tasty and on it) .. asked the Waitress, response, Oh sorry, We're out of stock of onions !!! DO WHAT?? No Onions in a restaurant of this calibre? Ate the meals and left .. no offer of recompense or explanation as to why there were no notifications on the Boards/Tables or even as we walked in Someone could've told us! We went to the billsley hungry horse after having an afternoon at the panto. Within the family dinning area there was initially no tables free (although no one was sitting on them all tables reserved) - having spoken to the lady who was sitting customers down this was done to make space for 'on spec' customers. Food ordered and service was big 'sharp'. Was unable to swap the sausages on the all day breakfast for another egg. Children's food was a good size portion 'just right' and enough for them - Carvery was lovely and plenty of choice. Good service at the table from the desert lady. Disappointed children didn't get small know and fork - was only told after had eaten that you have to ask! Ladies Toilets need a bit of 'care' no locks worked and the toilets flushing in 1 would make gurgling noise in another ! Overall nice food - good to take children as they have play area both inside and out.

Was so dry, no mayo or ketchup on offer had to go bar and ask but my husband and son in law had the naan bread chicken tikka, was described on menu as chicken tikka pieces with onion bajies, mango salsa, fresh corianda on a massive fresh naan !! With mint yoghurt. It was a microwave naan with a sauce that was like ketchup with strands of chicken and few extremely dry balls of dough ! Almost to dry to swallow and a £10 each was awful was ment to come with a mountain of chips ! Came with a side of oven chips that was not cooked. I was waiting for someone to check everything was ok with our meal nobody did a check back!!! It was so bad we didn't eat anything we put it in my bag for our dogs ! Visited The Billesley Hungry Horse on 6/6/14 at 12.25 p.m. It was not very busy, except for a couple of tables and some ladies with their kids running around the place.Got served quickly. I chose the Indian banquet @ £7.99. My partner chose the Carvery classic @ £4.49 and our companions chose the 'bigger' Fish and chips @ £6.99 each.My banquet consisted of a choice of curry, in this case a chicken tikka masala, pilau rice, chips, small naan bread, 1 small poppadum, and some small pots of tomato an onion salad, mango chutney and mint/yoghurt dip. Nice, but needed a spoon (couldn't find a member of staff to ask for 1). So ended up leaving a lot as I couldn't get it on my fork and had gone cold.Partners carvery was good value, with plenty of choice of veg and 3 meats. His only concern was that as it was quiet that the veg would go all horrible when left standing there - as it was quiet. The fish and chips were nice, served in 'newspaper'. Cost £1.50 more than the standard one's. Basically for a slightly bigger piece of fish. Chips and peas just a standard serving.Nobody came to check if our meals were okay until after we had finished. But didn't take the plates.Definitely prefer Sizzling Pubs quality of food, I'm afraid.

Food arrived with an acceptable wait time, however, when the food arrived the rib dish was cold. The waiter took the meal to replace with a wait time of 10 minutes. Some 25 minutes later and when the other people in the party had completed their meal the replacement dish had still not arrived despite food being sent out to other guests. We asked to see the Manager and was told she was busy!!!! We then demanded to see the Manager at which point she appeared and offered a refund without an apology! I visited shortly after the billesley was reopened as a hungry horse and was pleased with the food, value and service. So I recommended we visit again to my husband this week. I was sadly disappointed. The steak was of poor quality- very chewy and mostly inedible. The portions also seem to have been downsized. A small handful of chips and a spoonful of peas. The order for dessert was wrong- I got my ice cream on the third attempt. Also the locks on the toilets were broken or jammed. Won't be visit visiting again for food.

Dropped in on spec on a filthy night. Did not know this place was here. We had intended to go to the Beefeater next door, but this looked a better option. Food good and very good value. Staff competent and pleasant - enjoying their work. we will definitely go again. Hope the standards are maintained.

Had booked several weeks before. Tried to pay off the balance at the time, but no they only wanted a deposit. Then received 2 'phone calls, regarding our booking as they had messed up somewhere - the last 'phone call the man asked if there was a chance we could nip in and pay the balance off before xmas day ( no chance, as we live 11 miles away). Our table was booked for 12.45 p.m and we arrived at 12.25. We were taken straight to our table. 3 of us stayed seated as 1 went to get the drinks. Whilst he was up the bar the starters all arrived together. So by the time my partner came back part of his starter was cold. After we had finished the waitress informed us that we could go up to the carvery. This was a surprise to us as we had chosen a set turkey and ham main meal, and especially as 1 of our party has very limited mobility and that is why we chose this place to visit, instead of other carvery options. This we overcame with my partner choosing his fathers meal for himA selection of turkey, gammon and beef (bonus!) and plenty of nice mainly hot veg to choose from. A really nice serving guy at the carvery as well - looked for his name badge, but couldn't see one.Sat and ate our meal, as the place got fuller and noisier. Was surprised at how many children were in there. Most were great, but why do some parents let their kids roll round the carpets? As soon as we had finished our meals, the plates were taken and desserts were brought over. Too much!! It would have been nice if we had been asked if we were ready for our desserts. Mince pies were brought over 1/2 way through our desserts.Sat there absolutely full for 10/15 minutes, whilst my partner finished my drink for me. Then we left. Looked at the clock in the car it was 2.00 p.m.Other quibbles as well were:-1) Extra Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were supposed to put on table. Received none!2) No pigs in blankets as listed3)Thought coffee was listed as well, but when asked we were told it would have to be paid for.Didn't ask as we were full. But why advertise them, when your paying £39.99 each, then they're knowhere to be seen?

Went to this hungry horse as it was Sunday and the website said food was serve till 9 pm, WRONG. I went with my partner, sister and nephew. Most of the tables had reserved signs on them. We got there about 8 ish. We managed to find table without a reserved sign and Ordered our meals and I asked the question about desserts and could we order them after the meal, I was told yes as long as it was before 9, that's be ok. We ate our meals and at about 8.40 ish I asked the party if they wanted desserts, naturally, they all did. I asked my sister if she'd go up as I was still eating, she came back to the table saying the kitchen was closed and no puds will be served. I had to leave my meal and go to the bar and state this wasn't what I was told earlier, the staff weren't bothered about what I was told, so I asked the guy who told me, and I also said the website said 9 pm for last food orders. I was told they do a deep clean on Sundays so this was the reason. I did laugh as what's the point in advertising till 9 pm when clearly , they were ready to shut down at 8 pm. They did say they'd do them for us, so we ordered 2 sundaes and 1 fritter, a woman came back after 5/10 minuets and we couldn't have the fritters as the ovens were all off, but they knew this when we put the order through. We changed it for a sundae, only for the glass to come with nothing in the middle except air. Marshmallows at the bottom, ice-cream on top, the middle nothing at all. I called the waitress over and showed her, I asked for money back of something and this was the final insult. She went away and spoke to the manager, when she returned, she said there was nothing that could be done and the reason was the kitchen staff were in wind down mode to go home. What happened to the deep clean is anyone's guess. The manager should have come over and if nothing else, had the balls to face a customer to apologise. Crap service from what I thought was a reasonable pub. How wrong was I?

popped in here for a quick lunch with a colleague and nearly died of starvation. Walked in and opted to sit in the over 18s bit as there were lots of children about. (don't mind children but we were having a working lunch so wanted to be able to concentrate). We sat down and studied the menu (standard Hungry Horse). I went to the bar and was joined by another chap. There was 1 lady who was getting several large coffees out of the machine. At no point did she apologise for the wait or even acknowledge us. Finally, another chap arrived and then told me if I wanted food I was waiting at the wrong counter!!! I ordered the food, tortilla wrap, chicken burrito, 2 curley fries and 2 soft drinks. £18+ which I thought was a bit steep. Sat down and waited. The food arrived, the fries seemed to be the end of the bag - when you get a lot of bits. the tortilla was ok but my burrito was awful. I has asked for the version with refried beans but I got rice. Iw was also strangely cooked - it was wrapped in foil BUt was freezing cold with condensation on the foil on one side and hot on the other. I told the waitress and she went away to change it. The second one was with refried beans but again hot on one side, freezing cold on the other. There were lumps of chicken which were freezing and obvioulsy hadnt been heated at all. I left most of it. The waitress came and took it away with no comment. Not impressed - children running in and out of the over 18s area too. I wont return.

To be honest my visit to the beeches pub was not the best first of all my food arrived cold!! this wasnt the worst part of the visit however, as myself and my family are not people to make a fuss and complain we just carried on with our meal, however the table next to us obviously was people to complain when they did a member of staff applogised to the family but then also stated that the reason why the food was so terrible was because the kitchen staff are in the cant be bothered mood today!! what a joke really why would you tell a paying customer this and loud enough for the next table (i.e. us) could hear!!Then to top my visit off my little boy had an accident in the play area outside and cut his finger i went to the bar to ask for a plaster to stop the bleeding to be told that under health and safety thay could not provide my son with a plaster! but there is a shop across the road where we can get ourselves some!this i found unacceptable and the attitude was really not acceptable!!!i will not be returning any time soon and i live on the doorstep of the pub i would rather travel if and when i decide to have my next meal out

Had my 50th birthday dinner at The Beeches with my family. The food & service was great. It was nice to see Lisa the manager working hard to support her staff and speak to customers. The place was busy and the atmosphere was great. I've now visited this pub several times and have never had a bad experience. Recomend the 'Old Speckled Hen' for you ale drinkers. :-)

We'd heard this pub was great for kids so we decided to organise my dad's surprise family birthday meal here. The food was great and good value and the restaurant was vibrant and modern. The night was a little ruined by the following though:-- Carpets were filthy in areas and we must have had a whole bowl of chips under the table we were sat at when we arrived;- My brother ordered a Cobra beer and got a coke;- My brothers food was delivered to a different table for some reason so arrived very late and cold. When the starter was sent to the wrong table we told the staff that the same would probably happen with his main course and they said they would sort it. They never did and this resulted in all the other meals being eaten by the rest of the family before his made an appearance;- They were keeping my dad's surprise cake behind the bar. I asked if they could bring it out and again said it was a surprise. The same waitress came over 5 minutes later and shouted is the surprise cake for your table and what does it look like. It completely spoilt it for my dad.The play areas were good for kids inside and out but you had to pay for a lot of things in the inside section.Would I come again for a birthday meal - no!

Recently a new Hungry Horse oulet opened near us, taking over what had been a troublesome pub for some years. It was welcoming and very nice inside with a good atmosphere. The menu has a fair selection, although would like to see more veg on offer and they run deals on different days where you can save money. We had Wild or Mild Chicken Skewers - which came with chips and onion rings, grilled peppers and onion. Best onion rings I have had in UK, chips very nice and crisp. The chicken is offered in a selection of hotness I choose med hot (jalapeno). Very nice breast meat, with a pleasant after spice - might try the top hot next time. Hubby had the American Chicken which was two chicken breasts covered in bacan and cheese with chips and onion rings. It got a thumbs up, the only one not quite pleased was child who ordered the child's meal burger with mash and peas. The burger clearly tasted of the kind that are premade/possible cooked from frozen and she did not like the mash. The servings are very large - so be warned you need to either be very hungry or be as big as hubby to put away so much food. I could only eat half of mine and I am not a small eater. We did manage to find room for dessert with child having the foot high chocolate sundae - which mad eup for the burger as she loved it. Hubby tried the Syrup Steamed pudding which was nice but the custard was not as nice as some others he has had elsewhere. I had the chocolate fudge cake with no ice cream - it was quite good with not too heavy texture and the right balance of icing.A good place for a family meal, but equally many menu options for large groups willing to share. Worth a visit - the food is of a nice standard better than some pub food I have had and reasonably priced.

Since the old Hunters Moon has had a revamp and became `The Hungry Horse`, I`ve visited it several times and I cannot fault it.The staff are always friendly and very helpful. We`ve never had a problem getting a table, and the service is exceptional. I cannot fault the food, as every meal we`ve had has been of a very good standard. The pub has a large car park and the main building is split into a bar area for a drink and the restaurant is seperate.I expect at times that it will be very busy, but the mid week deals are very good value for money where a couple can have a meal and a drink for around £10.It is a good place to meet as a family , there is plenty for children to play with and not get bored.I hope the pub maintains the high standards of service and cleanliness it has already achieved.Well done .Especially liked the fish & chips.

At first view this appears to be a very nice well presented family Pub Restaurant. The problem is it gets very busy at weekends and the staff cant cope.I would recommend it for lunch or midweek treat. The staff all all very young and really don't care if the truth be told and at times it does come across. The food is the usual Family orientated Steak, Burger and Chicken menu with a separate Children's Menu. It does have a good Children's area which my Kids loved. You order food at the Bar and give your table number which is fine when you can find a table; every time I visit there are couples sitting in the large booths which are obviously meant for family's. After I ordered the food came in a reasonable time but not to late to be a problem, It was well cooked and well presented. We took advantage of a midweek offer for two meals £8.49 which was good value. I later tried to buy a sweet with my debit card and was told by the Bar person she could only accept sales by card of 5 pounds or more so I had to buy another drink to get past the five pounds. Not bad but I think you could do better.

This former estate pub as become a Hungry Horse Pub, Lovely Job inside. I will start from the beginning. We my wife and I walked in the front door and saw the large bar in front of us, which at that pint did not appear to be maned, I looked over yonder and there was a table in the far distant wall had a meeting of staff. We found a table and sat down and browsed the menu, my wife used the toilet and I did after also. Still no staff. I went out to check my car because we had left our dog in the car. On my return the staff suddenly appeared from no where, and I said there was no one here a while ago , a voice behind me said you only just walked in, I was informed by him he was the manager, this I found a little hard to believe because of his appearance. I informed the staff it was my first visit to a Hungry Horse Pub, they duly told me the procedure on ordering etc.We ordered our food, Surf and Turf (Blue) & a Baby Back Rib & Steak (Medium) also two large glasses of house Merlot. When the food came out we were warned to be careful as the food and plates were very hot, I am afraid to say that was not the case. My steak was over cooked to medium, and the Peas look as though they had been on the stove for an hour or more. My wife's steak was cooked to well done. And in both cases the Steak was tough. The Scampi on my plate was very good and the Chicken also. I found the staff very noisy behind the bar and the were laughing and giggling which made me a little uncomfortable I have to say. The waitress (Gemma) that took my order was very nice and polite and did seem like she had a station behind the bar.We also had a sweet, I had the Trifle, and my wife had the Knickerbocker Glory, both were excellent. Would I go again yes I would, but the staff need to be shown some discipline. About the toilets, they looked spotlessly clean, but they did smell strongly of urine, this could be solved with a little Flower Disinfectant. The bill came to £36.25
