Atlantis Fish Bar in Birmingham

Used to be lovely but the kebab meat isn't so nice now and the chips are always cold or hard

I ordered the saveloy and battered jumbo sausage and it's was alright, nothing really wrong with it as its processed but the batter wasn't that crunchy, and the donner which I also ordered tasted old and the way it was cuz wasn't the best, barley any long strips and the chips tasted under cooked, overall wasn't satisfied but still the food was edible.

One of the best Fish and Chips shops in North Birmingham. Worth noting that they also have a little restaurant tucked away in the back.

I’ve enjoyed the fish and chips at Atlantic Fish and Chips in the past, but my most recent experience was extremely disappointing. Today I went there with my son for takeaway two fish and chips, and while one portion was nice as expected, the second was absolutely horrible. The fish fillet tasted off, almost rotten. This kind of inconsistency is unacceptable, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning. Very disappointed. I attached pictures for reference.

Lunch visit - we visited for lunch yesterday and decided to eat in the restaurant which was a nice surprise. Towards the back of the chip shop you can dine in and eat your chippy dinner straight from the fryer to your plate. Fish was cooked well and the chips were soft. Slightly more expensive to dine in but this is normal.

Grate finish for day, went to seaside in Wales on the way back stoped hear, felt like we still by the seaside, the pictures on the wall remind you that you still at the seaside

I haven’t been there in a few years but when I went there the food was delicious when warm not really cold but it’s still a pretty good place to go if u want some nice food. The waiting time is reasonable and they have lots of work is there so it won’t take long.

I had large cod and mushy peas. The price was £12.50 to eat in and lime 4 pou ds or so cheaper all in if it was a takeaway. Clean, I thought y fish was cooked to perfection. Would 100% go back and try other stuff. Highly recommended 👌

What can I say. This is about our third time of visiting and the meal was by far the best. Everything was freshly cooked and delicious. Service is always quick and with a smile.

First time using this fish bar and wow really impressed with everything if you want chips to taste how they should taste then this is the place to go so tasty and fresh and so clean and very good service .We'll done guys

Disgusting, the kebab meat was salty no taste ,the chips tasted stale like warmed up from yesterday ,worst chippy tea I've ever had,,since they changed hands the quality of the food has gone down hill.I will not be eating from this chip shop again,please people DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Delicious, Hot, Fresh food! Proper Fish & Chips, how it should be done. People moaning about the price need to go back to their corner chippy for their £2 fish. If you want a PROPER fish, with PROPER Batter... Atlantis Fish Bar is the place to be!💯👌

Have been visiting Atlantis since it has opened and it has generally been good food; however the standards have really dropped in the last few months. Paid £15 today for two small mixed meat and chips, the chips were soggy and luke warm, the chicken had lots of gristle and hard pieces, the lamb donner seems to have changed entirely and tasted foul, I could barely manage a couple of pieces. The prices have increased here substantially, it’s very expensive compared to other chip shops, in the past I have accepted this because we enjoyed the food; however the last two visits have been awful, today being the very worst meal I’ve had from any chip shop, well below their previously high standards.

Never had chips etc to complain about from Atlantis Wylde green but the way they were wrapped and half of them hard and not nice sorry but in all the years this is the first time I’ve doubted Atlantis. Not a cheap meal so I’m questioning myself whether I would go there again. As of June 24 still not gone back there. So it may of changed.

This place has gone downhill Went there yesterday early evening Overpriced food Chips under cooked and hard Fish that by the taste had been there all afternoon Curry and chips in tray not packed properly and leaked everywhere That is the last time we return

Loved the food there. It's now one of the best places. It use to be Bedders in Small heath but now since they changed owners. The food taste is going downhill. This is only next best place to eat. We will definitely go there again. Some of our friends were really happy to find out that even though they cook meat and fish in the same oil. All their food is Halal. So we definitely enjoyed it there. Atmosphere is just perfect. The portion is amazing. You get a lot of chips and fish in a big bowl. Lovely for people who can eat. Next time I go ill get 2 bowl of fish and chips 😁

After a long and horrendous journey from Southampton we decided to get small fish and chips (2) for our late lunch/early dinner. When we got home and tucked in the batter on both pieces of fish was hard at the ends and the fish was awful. The chips were plentiful but not up to their usual standard. These cost us £14.20ish for the 2. I would estimate that we threw £12.00 worth away. If I hadn't have been shattered and fed up with driving I would have taken them back but I didn't. I've been going here since it opened and have had a few that were not up to standard. Needless to say that I won't be going back.

Chicken etc great. But never had a chip from there yet that's not hard

£12.10 for a small fish and chips (cod) with a curry sauce, its day light robbery - could of had heart attack when she told me the price. Last time I'll be using this place. Judging by the reviews, I'd sort it out before your another business that closes

Best chip shop in the area, IMO. Overpriced though, but then I think all chip shops have increased their prices dramatically.

Gotta say their fried chicken has the be the best I’ve tasted but charging me 50p extra for a dash of sauce on the chips is crazy!!!! And let’s not even get into the prices of their dine in…. Double 😭 service is good but the old guy that works there isn’t really friendly… overall wouldn’t really run back again.

Fantastic fish and chips shop the food is very great few of the staff are very friendly and very helpful i gave them a tin of Cadbury Roses and Christmas cards

The food is quality here, my family love it. My kids love the kebab meat. A bit pricey but well worth it.

Chips were good. Tomato sauce seemed to be a bit thinned out. Good service and clean shop

New staff extremely stingy with kebab meat portions… giving it out like it comes out of their wages. Shame, a good chippy ruined by silly staff who don’t know how to look after customers. I’m a weekly customer who will now take my business elsewhere and advise others to do the same. Don’t waste your money on these penny pinchers

I’m regular went all the way from sparkhill , the manager serve me chips were mixed with old chips gritty and the fish was not fresh tasted horrible, called them to tell them didn’t seem surprised cuz he knew what he gave me was not right . Stick to mother Hubbard erdington.

The fish and chips was amazing along with the Curry Sauce. The seating area was lovely. Service from the staff was amazing! I've given it a 4 star review only cause I felt certain things were far over priced considering its based within Birmingham City. £2.50 for a can of coke is not justifiable.

Let yourselves down tonight.. chips were black and very small portion compared to other visits. Chicken tikka kebab had hardly any salad on it. Not up to your usual standard. Shrinkflation is everywhere !

TERRIBLE SERVICE AND NO MONEY BACK. Ordered via justeat and told my address has been blacklisted because a previous order asked for a refund from this address. I just moved to this house and never ordered from them before. They weren't understanding and didn't care to think that there's an error on their side despite the logical argument. Just been to Atlantis,staff were lovely but wasn't,donner meat was burnt, chips were horrible like they had been there all day,absolutely awful for the price they charge,best thing was the pitta bread,will NOT be going again,

Really tasty mixed meat and chips and you can tell its high quality meat.

We used to go here all the time but the prices have gone up significantly (as has everywhere) and now only come here once a month/ 6 weeks....

Had a just eat order from here. Stone cold. over hr late and then they hadn't even sent the 2 cans of pop in the order.phoned the Atlantis and they just didn't care basically. 1st and last time we have anything from there.

The best fish and chips by miles in Birmingham. Eat in or take away the food is always freshly cooked and fresh. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. You can't go wrong.

Came here with a group of 8 to dine in and staff were very accommodating. Food was really nice, service was excellent and we didn't wait too long either.

Can’t believe how busy this place is coming up to Christmas. Pity you don’t do deliveries but the eat in option is well appreciated. Excellent food and spotless clean.

Always have good food from here and it’s generally open longer hours than some of the other chippies. This is my regular place for fish night.

Friendly Staff Service , Lovely Food .

I was there Sunday night , Friendly staff who worked the queue well so although busy it was a very short wait for food, well cooked food in a pleasant atmosphere.

Was waiting ages for my food (30 minutes) whiles the worker was throwing chips at her friend who was cleaning up.Childish behaviour.Only one person was working and was packing away ages before closing time.When I then asked for a refund she said,“It’s coming soon” but then I had to wait an extra 10 minutes.Absolutely shocking service

9 quid for just chicken kebab meat in a tray now , gutted was a nice place but not 9 quid for not much , this is take away not eating in

I've marked this right down. We used to love coming here. The service has always been very friendly and efficient and I think it's lovely to be able to sit in a fish and chip bar whilst eating. However, we hadn't been for a while and we ordered fish and chips but unfortunately the fish was inedible. I don't know what happened to it but it was just dreadful. It was like it had been frozen for years and then not cooked enough. The outside of the fish was alright but eating into the middle it was so weird, very very chewy, it wouldn't even cut with the knife. We had to leave it. My dad's was the same and we both agreed that it was just awful. Very very sad as this place used to be gorgeous and they have such lovely people working here. We shall miss the good times as we won't be going back. I do wish them the best and hope they improve again.

I was recommended Atlantis by a friend, so my son and I popped down. Service with a smile and staff were very polite. The atmosphere was ok, but it was early. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing, the Chips were tasty and perfectly cooked but had grit in them, and the fish was overcooked, making it too chewy. I'll stick to Mother Hubbards.

Undercooked, anemic, white looking chips. Soggy pale chips, very expensive to just throw in the bin. Couldn't not eat them at all. And the other part of my order they got completely wrong despite confirming it twice 😒

Went in for a takeaway thought this was the bees n knees in fish n chips shocking prices fish over cooked still full of fat chips was not so good the portion sizes small fish size small but prices extortion if you want quality value for money Mother Hubbards not far away is much better and value for money

The service is shocking! This chip shop is really going down hill! I was told their wasn't any donner meat or chicken meat when I could see them in front of me and was told there's only Tikka meat which was dried up in a tray. Then I was told there was only one choice of pie when I could see three! The last time I went I was given donner meat which wasn't cooked. The place is going down hill!

Came in for a chippy tea with the family. The portions were large. One of my boys had a burger. It looked quite dry. But he enjoyed it - that’s the main thing. Our fish and chips were spot on. And - they now take cards! Would, definitely, come here again

There fish is over cooked by 2 min it made it hard inside cod should glide into flakes & not break . The person doing the potatoes needs to clean them properly. Too many black eyes left in them .

Chips are disgusting! Not worth the money they charge! Like £5!. The staff are very rude and disrespectful. Especially the women . They are soo used to not doing any working and getting paid a lot . So bad service!! Management please look at this . So bad experience.

Very traditional fish and chip shop. We chose to eat in. They do cater for the takeaway but they don't deliver, because this place on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's is packed, so no need to deliver. The food is exceptional and cook fresh if you eat in, by this I mean the fish is not taken from the warmers where you normally see them when ordering a takeaway. There were four of us and every meal was piping hot served with lashings of bread and butter white bread of course, which is an essential part of a fish and chip meal. Very reasonable priced as well so all in all a great place to eat in or takeaway.

Came in for fish and chips as I do every Friday, but last Friday was APPALLING!!!! My fish was full of grease and overly battered and same with the greasy chips. Was disgusted and will NOT be returning!!

Came in for fish and chips as I come mostly Saturday, last Saturday was terrible!!!!!! I ordered large fish , it was like small size and more overly battered !!!!!!! Horrible taste loads of battered, it was disgusting. I will not be returning to waste my money.

Chips are dry like the ones Big John's serve. This place used to be fantastic but has gone downhill, and lunchtime specials are poor value.

Had to pop in to Birmingham this evening and on the way back fancied some chips, was directed to the Atlantis eat in restaurant in Wylde Green, we ordered a cheeseburger with small chips and a pie and chips with curry sauce, the service was polite, friendly and professional, the food was fresh, piping hot and cooked perfectly. Easily the best chip shop food I have eaten in years by far. My only complaint was how big the portions were, we could not eat it all and came away feeling stuffed. What a gem of a place with fantastic staff. A big THANK YOU Atlantis, we will be back.

Never been before, went for a treat and ordered a chicken tikka pitta bread meal with chips. Looked great, but lacked in taste big time. The chicken was very thinly sliced and dry which I have not experienced before as chicken tikka meat is usually quite moist. The pitta was a small supermarket special. Ordered a side of onion rings, they turned out to be a potato and onion filling again tasted like supermarket food, not actually fried onion which I had expected. This was not a treat, very disappointed.

Went on a Friday night, walked in, only two people waiting so was a bit concerned about quality of food that I would get. However, this soon disappeared as whilst I was waiting quite a few customers came in behind us. When we got my food home, the food was red hot, my mixed meat and chips were absolutely gorgeous with decent thickness of kebab meat unlike some chip shops where it is wafer thin. The cheeseburger was nice and of a decent size and served with an overly sized bag of chips. Good is excellent, would highly recommend.

The key to a good fish and chip shop is how busy it is and where it is located. A chippie that is very busy will have a high turnover of food, oil that wouldn’t drop in temperature and food that is constantly hot. On the three occasions I visited here in the evening it was very busy and I had to queue and wait for a while to get my order of large cod and large chips. The cod was beautiful moist and flakey with crisp batter and the chips were hot and decent and there was a massive portion. Fish and chips will always taste better by the coast with the smell of the sea salt in the air and seagulls screeching above you so this shop can’t reproduce that. Can’t say this is the very best chippie I’ve ever been to but certainly the most busy.

Purchased a standard fish and chips meal from here and the fish, despite the batter going soft, tasted decent and fresh but too greasy. The chips were unfortunately incredibly greasy and undercooked. For the price you pay, underwhelming to say the least.

They don't take card payment. Which is dodgy as and incredibly bad customer service.

Had a delicious supper of fish and chips. The service was top notch, great to see a service with a smile which is rare these days. Being from the Black Country, shame battered chips isn’t on the menu, Brummies you’re missing out.

I went out for dinner the fish it,s good and chips and curry sauce delicious but the portion of cod fish was very small very sad after paid nearly 30.00£ for 2 large portions I think they should be more generous with the costumer and not safe food themselves for that I gave only 3

Went for a drink a few doors away and thought we would get some fish and chips, then walk home. We placed the order and thought it was a little expensive compared to our local fish bar, (Sutton’s fish shop, Walmley Road) £2 each more for the same meal, we were then told they don’t take card payments, which I found to be very strange these day's and was told there’s a cash machine in the corner of the shop that I could use. (Is this a tax fiddle I thought) I cancelled the order and left. We had nice walk to our local and saved £4. I definitely won’t be returning!

The shop was gleaming spotlessly clean, service was superb. Food was spot on had the chicken tikka and was honestly the best I’ve ever had, 10/10 would definitely recommend.

Best Fish and Chips in Birmingham! Staff are so kind and friendly. I really recommend their fish and chips as-well as their jacket potato for anyone looking for a great meal and a good price.

Worse ever fish and chips, bought at 4pm. Dry overcooked fish probably sitting since lunch time and tasteless chips. Really poor value, and thrown n the bin
