Walked in on a rainy Sunday , hadn’t booked but they accommodated us (unlike another pub in Clun) very friendly and welcoming staff. Sunday lunch offered a 1/2/3 course option with a good menu choice. The food was very tasty and presented well , exceptional value for money in a really nice setting

Absolutely fantastic Sunday roast on the 25th August! Really friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. A little old pub that could do with an update but the food was perfection. Was so shocked to see it so empty. Make sure you pay a visit as they definitely have a quality chef hidden in that kitchen.

Had fab evening in this very Old very local pub. From moment you enter the staff really friendly. Yes it’s very old, probably needs some money spent on it but that aside it’s actually great, nothing pretentious, nothing showy an honest place, very very rare. We had very good food, I had lovely Curry and hubby had a fantastic steak sandwich with best chips he,s eaten. Good range drinks and brought to our table. That evening was Open Mike night for obviously local people who all seemed to know each other but were so friendly to likes of us, outsiders…Music was great, a lot of talent there and so relaxed and friendly, one of the best evenings for ages. Please frequent this Pub, it’s a true local, does a lots for Charities and and a real Hub of the Community. We really wish them nothing but good things.

Booked for their monthly pop up Thai night. Partner and I shared all three starters as we couldn’t decide between them! The chicken and coconut soup was fresh, with melt in the mouth chicken and veg. The mixed starter consisting of spring rolls, sweetcorn cakes and chicken satay was just amazing and the Laab Gai (minced chicken salad) was one of the most delicious foods I have ever eaten! We then had sweet & sour pork and red chicken curry for mains and we ate the LOT! Every mouthful was superb! I’m not usually a pudding eater but I opted for the grilled pineapple and my partner had “Chef Special banana fritters”, both served with ice cream and both absolutely fabulous!! The price was incredibly reasonable and they also offered a bottle of wine for the table at only £10.00! Kelly and Keira were wonderful hosts , chatty and friendly and really made us feel at home and hats off to the Chef and kitchen staff for delivering such delicious fresh meals. 10 stars!!!! We will definitely be returning and wish they did this every week!!

We were staying in the area. We went on a Friday, which is usually 'open mic' night and the performers were very good. The staff were friendly, with some good local beers. The menu was standard fare cooked and served well. The decor is 'classic' UK pub. There is also a good sized pub garden and parking.

Having stumbled across this place we decided to go for lunch. We were met with a very pleasant lady called Jacqueline who served us with drinks and then showed us to a table although we hadn’t booked it wasn’t a problem we chose from the menu and when it came was amazing. Certainly value for money, ample portions different condiments to support our meals. Cooked to perfection piping hot (hot plates too ) which is rare in most places these days. Definitely 10/10 will certainly go again.

With plenty of footpaths in the area, this makes an ideal stop when walking. This time was.for Sunday lunch, which was popular but not crowded. The food was tasty and good value for money, with options for 2/3 courses and cheap drinks. The roast beef was particularly good. The layout is ideal, with a large cosy olde worlde dining area and a separate bar area popular with locals. Outside is a lovely beer garden in a real sun trap. The real draw is the servce, with friendly & attentive staff really looking after you. The landlady is so friendly and ensures all her guests are well looked after. Ideal.

Quite disappointed, drinks we’re fine however when it came to food from ‘Dado’s Bistro’ which makes the food at this pub, it was poor. For starter we had scallops, only 2 for the price of £7.25, and the soup, which was okay but lacked any sort of seasoning. For mains we had pork belly with rice for £15.95 but it only had two rather small pieces of over done pork and a very large amount of rice and some over cooked broccoli, which didn’t even taste nice! Definitely not worth the money at all. The other main was a bowl of vegetable tagliatelle with chicken for £14.95 was again drastically overpriced. We opted out of dessert after the first two disappointing and overpriced courses. We’d recommend the chef to just serve simple, good food, rather than trying a menu which looks good on the face of it, but doesn’t deliver when it comes to it.

once again a lovely meal was had by all, freshly cooked and full of flavour. Dog friendly pub too. But on this occasion the table service was disappointing, I think the girl must have not wanted to be working as she couldn't smile, didn't come to our table to ask if all was okay and removed our dinner plates with a barley audible 'was everythin okay'? Thankfully a lady from the bar staff came to ask if we needed any drinks and if all was okay. We all have off days and this won't put us off the good food served.

We parked here to do our planned walk (the walking guide suggested the pub car park) and on the way back to the car after a 9 mile stomp we were looking forward to a hot drink. However, despite the sign outside confirming the pub was open, there was no sign of life so we assumed it wasn’t open - and were just about to drive off when a gentleman (landlord??) came out with his dogs and stated they are most definitely open. Out of courteousness (as we’d used their car park) we went for a drink. The woman behind the bar (landlady??) was leaning on the bar watching MTV although she did turn the volume down slightly when we entered. We were the only customers and the place had a feel of being unloved and in need of some TLC. We ordered two coffees, a small Diet Coke and a small glass of squash - which came to £7.70!!! That says, the coffee was filtered, tasty and hot. And the complimentary biscuit was, we believe, home-made. Pointed out to the woman behind the bar that we’d noticed a ‘puddle’ on the hearth, suggesting it may be from a dog. Rather than thanking us for noticing this, she was disgruntled about having to deal with it!From the reviews on this site there is obviously a good side as well as the more disappointing side to the venue. It’s not within a village so must rely a lot on passing trade. They just need to make the exterior far more welcoming and appearing open and then tidy up the interior and hopefully it will continue to thrive and survive. Not sure we’d pop in again - we need to be made welcome and not a hindrance!!

Mum and I came across this inn dating back to the 17th century. Set in gorgeous countryside in the Clun valley which is pretty short on pubs, we were glad to find them open for lunch. The landlady was welcoming. The menu offers an assorted variety of pub fare which is good for visitors and locals alike. There is a nice fence enclosed area which makes a safe environment for children with tables outside. Inside it is clean and comfortable but not over fussy a real locals pub but welcoming to visitors. There is a pool table and darts and also a log burner fire for wintry days. Enjoyed local sausages and mum had the all day breakfast.

Firstly, I don’t understand why “some” people have given such wrongly scathing remarks on the food and staff. (Local competition maybe)???? But our family have had the great pleasure of eating here twice now. We took a lengthy detour on our way back from a weekend away especially to eat here and meet the lovely friendly staff and chef again. We were not disappointed, yet again it was the most tasty yummy roast dinner we have had. I might add that we have eaten in some of the best hotels etc all over the world and on the top cruise ships and the Hundred House Inn food was far superior, both for flavour, ingredients and friendly service. Wow if prizes were awarded for bizarre customer service, bad food and disappointment then top marks for the hundred house! However if you want a sunday dinner with family and friends id stay away. We had a table of 6 and were one of small handful of tables (so not busy) and were the second table in. All ordered pork, beef and one chicken roast. All awful to average at best. Slow roast belly pork which you can expect to have fat on of course however no crackling (as stated their would be by waitresses) and soggy gelatinous tops on all, beef which was well done+ almost like the dr marten boots i was wearing. Trimmings??? Nope one roasted new potato each split in half. All served luke warm on cold plates. The roast potatoes were very obviously reheated and were very tough. As the second customers in and a very quiet sunday this is strange. Yorkshires tasted reheated and spongey. So far disappointing. Next very bizarrely asked about the desert menu and what the banoffe mouse was like? Waitress said she had no idea and said the chef doesnt decide till he does it? Very strange method there mate. Coming from a former chef myself that is a peculiar prep method for a sunday lunch menu. Any we decide to all steer clear of the unknown banana desert that even staff and the chef are undecided on. So some have sticky toffee pudding and two have crumbles. As a frequent eater of many many a sticky toffee pudding and crumble as many people are, we were all very surprised to be served a dry (looked like a mcvities ginger cake) slices of sponge and custard bizarrely with flowers on top. We ask the waitress if this was right as any sane person would expect some form of Sticky toffee sauce with this pudding. They made an excuse saying some people do not like this? They would then serve the sauce separately which was blatantly just made on the spot to appease us. So we got a gravy boat of very watery buttery sugar not exactly toffee sauce. My mother also quietly mentioned about the berries on the plates which were ice cold on the plate which they were 100% were. The chef who i presume is the self titled ‘dado’ on the menu came out and publicly called my mum out in the restaurant saying how fresh they were. Extremely bizarre and bad customer service and could be interpreted as threatening or hostile. The crumble also could barely scrape by as crumble, just apple segments (badly peeled ) in custard with. Id probably keep going next time if you in need of food much better places down the road in clun, bishops castle. Had better roasts in weatherspoons with microwaves.

Brilliant food at a great price. Located conveniently on the main road to Clun from Ludlow. (B4368). Several people recommended this pub to us and we were not disappointed!

Popped in with hubby couple of weeks ago on saturday evening for a drink and snack. Lovely food nice atmosphere, a very friendly, welcoming and polite lady on the bar, she was local and able to tell us about the area and suggested walks for us when we asked where to visit locally. we will visit again and bring friends to try something new on the menu.

Me and my partner came here last minute as silly enough we had forgotten to book a table at a restaurant we were meant to be going to, which now I'm glad we didn't go there! We rang up the hundred house inn by chance to see if they had any tables, they were very very busy but managed to squeeze us in after a short wait. The staff were very busy but so polite and calm. The food and the quality was excellent. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area :)

My son and I ate here on the recommendation of the nearby B&B. We hadn't been very successful the last few times we had eaten in a pub so we were both pleased with the quality of the food. This was the best chicken and salad I have had in a restaurant. I couldn't recognize some of the greens but they were delicious. My son really enjoyed his Ham and chips. The service was good and the local beer was excellent.

When we visited we were the only people in the restaurant, but immediately felt at home - the service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. However, the food - when it arrived (after 45 minutes of waiting) - was inedible. My lamb had very clearly been re-assembled from a left-over Sunday dinner; the vegetables were stone cold; the roast potatoes had clearly been cooked and left to cool several times over. My husband's steak looked good but turned out to be all fat and gristle, with barely any meat on it at all. We were deeply disappointed - we have recently moved to live nearby and had had great expectations for this as being a good place to eat locally. We strongly recommend that anyone intending to visit goes for drinks alone and not food - we certainly will not be returning while the current chef remains.

We found the pub a bit sterile and not wonderfully welcoming, but the food was good, well-cooked and fresh, and reasonably priced.

Their food was delicious, well presented, served well and very good value. The menu was varied, there were several choices that I could have opted for.The setting was stunning and the inn is beautiful. The staff were helpful and very pleasant. It was a memorable Father's Day and we can't wait to back.

Perhaps it was my choice of food but this was not part of the great Shropshire food experience that the guides to this part of the world promise. 'Pie of the day' was an assembly of some rather dry beef along with boiled potatoes, carrots and (under-cooked) parsnips, topped off with a very thin and tasteless pastry crust. Alongside the pie, a small stack of more (chipped) potatoes but not a green vegetable in sight. The deep metal baking tray in which the pie was served was awkward to eat from. A shame because the pub is not bad and the staff are friendly.

My husband and I decided to give the Hundred House a second chance after a 2 yr break from the last unpleasant visit that we had. Sadly the welcome we received on an early Sunday evening was as unpleasant as we remembered. The chairs were all stacked on the tables leaving a very limited seating area. The barmaid struggled to muster a smile and for a glass of red and a larger shandy surmounted to over 8 pounds it was hugely overpriced. I would have felt more welcome in a hungry lions den than in The Hundred House. Needless to say there will be no more visits.

We ate here over the bank holiday weekend. We were staying up the road and our host managed to get us a table even though they were incredibly busy. What can we say, the food was amazing, credit to the Chef, your food and presentation was top class! Even better, the prices were akin to a run of the mill pub. It's a shame we live so far away, otherwise you would now be the only place we went to for meals out.Hope to see you again, next time we're in the area.

Called here yesterday as part of a Hen Party. There were 21 of us and we had pre-ordered from a choice of chicken, battered sausage, burger or scampi with chips, which they had said they would cook for £6.95. What they omitted to say was that the portion would be miniscule (would have left my four year old grandson hungry) and the chips greasy. We were not allowed to sit in the restaurant area as people had pre-booked -thought we had!! They preferred to get more chairs and squash us around three tables although some did go up as there simply wasn't enough room for everyone. Not all condiments were on the table and I had to ask four times for vinegar and when it finally came it was only one sachet each but by this time our meal was getting cold. We left hungry and disgruntled. Not in the least impressed and will most certainly never be back.

We visited the Hundred House with a young visitor who was a vegan. The chef himself came to the table to discuss a dish with her, we were extremely impressed. The meals were lovely and real value for money. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant and our young visitor from Germany was impressed with her first English pub. Congratulations and thank you. Well worth a visit.

Last minute thought as had been to Green Man festival in nearby Clun. We were 7 adults plus two babies. We were warned when we rang to check availability that they had been very busy and most of the vegetarian dishes were not available. However on arrival we found plenty for us 4 vegetarians to choose from. The remaining 2 are meat eaters , Burger was good but the Cajun chicken dish was not so good, but hey ho 6 out of 7 is ok. Will defiantly return. Also allowed our small dog in which is a great plus.

Since our last visit to this large pub, it changed hands in January this year. Lydia appears to run the front of house and her partner and son are the chefs. We arrived at lunch time, midweek only 2 other people were in the pub, but it was warm , friendly and a full lunch time menu was available. While we were there a family had decided to come from Craven Arms, 8 miles away to eat, given the multiple choice in that town, we were quietly confident of the food.Portions were big, service was excellent , personally the chips disappointed but this may have been me.Chef says a new menu is coming out for May 2017

Well cooked tasty ham, egg and chips. Good pint of Ludlow Gold. Chilled glass of lovely Chardonnay. A shared yummy pannacotta sweet. Really nice coffees. What's not to like in this very friendly pub. Left my jacket on though, chilly bar area but to be fair the fire wasn't lit as it was so lovely outside. It has a pretty pub garden.

We booked for dinner as we knew the White Lion had reopened for food with a new chef. We were not disappointed the food was delicious, we had the rib eye steak, the sea bass special and the penne vodka. All were beautifully cooked and served. The service was great and the staff were friendly. We will definitely be eating here again.

The service was friendly and the food absolutely first-rate. Can recommend the Ploughman’s which is loaded with cheese, really top notch ham, and lovely crusty bread. Would have loved to stay for cake but we were all too full.

Have been coming here for over a year and their Panang curry is the best! Portion sizes are generous for price - we always have enough leftover for a good size meal the day following. Staff is friendly too

we always try to come here when we can get in and don’t fancy cooking one ourselves. the meat selection is always good and very generous, their roast potatoes are the best - lovely and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. it is a carvery so can help yourself. they unfortunately don’t have any mash but we just add extra roasties! their gravy is lovely and homemade with the meat juices in. the staff are lovely and attentive. our favourite place to go for sunday lunch!
