A historic landmark for Port Sunlight Village and the Wirral. The Beatles famously played here in their early days and many events and concerts take place at this lovely old hall. There are a variety of events that take place and there is a cafe open until early afternoon, if you’d like to visit when no events are planned.

Following the sacking of Pete Best, The Beatles were quick to recruit their new drummer. Ringo Starr wasn’t a stranger to the band, having stood in for them on several occasions in Hamburg and Liverpool, where he primarily played for Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. Ringo first played on the same bill as The Beatles on 13 March 1959, on the opening night of the Morgue Skiffle Cellar in Liverpool. He was playing with Al Caldwell’s Texans, and further down the bill were the Quarrymen. Caldwell later became Rory Storm; the Quarrymen, of course, were to become The Beatles. On 18 August 1962, for the first time, The Beatles were officially John, Paul, George and Ringo. Following a two-hour rehearsal they played at the Hulme Hall in Port Sunlight from 10pm. The occasion was the local horticultural society’s 17th annual dance. The capacity for Hulme Hall was 450 but, due to the popularity of The Beatles, it was unofficially enlarged to 500 when they performed. The other three dates they played at the venue were 7 July, and 6 and 27 October 1962.

Quite a nice building although we were only in the main hall. Visited in an afternoon for a gathering/ meeting. There was a fault with the heating. The issue of hot drinks could have been organised better as over 150 people needed serving quickly.

At the beer festival today. Been coming here for the last 5 years. Get there early as the first thing you need to do is grab a table. They have a huge selection of real ales, German beers, Belgium beers and a great collection of ciders. If that wasn't good enough they have pies, pasties and cakes. Also a large hot food range of curries and kebabs. All you need to do is bring along a good selection of your mates and you have the recipe for a fantastic day out.

The hall is a part of a planned village in Port Sunlight, Wirral. It village was built to house Lever Brother's factory workers and their families, the Hall being part of the leisure facilities available. Unfortunately the Hall, whilst still being a Gem, has suffered with lack of investment and maintenance on the building and the surrounding area. It needs a great deal of money spent on it to bring it up to standard and fit for purpose. Then it would be a treasure to admire and use, as it should be, as a facility for the village community and guests.

20 of us nhs workers had our christmas party here last night food was meant to be served at 8 the starters started coming out around 9pm by the time puddings were coming around at was past 10pm. The main meal was cold a couple of the girls didnt eat anything atall because of this. One of the girls took her custard back as it was stone cold and infront of her the chef poured burning hot custard all over a workers hand which burnt her and we found her upset in the toilets. The service was absolutely shocking and the dealing with the manager was absolutely shocking. The staff were doing there best under the conditions they were in. Weve been here a couple of years ago for a christmas do and loved it but since its changed hands we would 100% not be attending again we paid near £800 for all of us which is alot of money! Shocking service shocking food shocking management!

Went here last night. I must say the place has gone down the drain. The service was awful. We wer still eating at 10.30. The food was cold. Wen we complained to the manager. He did no more than got one of the staff. Got hold of her hand and put some hot custard on it It burnt the poor girl and she was crying. It was disgusting 🫣 to c her treated like that. The hall was also freezing 🥶. I certainly won't be going again and I wudnt recommend to anyone.

Situated in the heart of the Lever-built village of Port Sunlight, this lively old hall comes to life on a Sunday when a flea market, antiques fair or Craft & Gifts Fair take place. Even with lockdown restrictions in place its spacious inside and out, good parking and there's hot and cold snacks available from their food bar. Well worth a visit whether you're looking for a bargain or just to get out and about. Come and enjoy... but don't forget that face mask!

AVOID!!! Would give them no stars if it was possible. My mum had a wedding booked earlier in the year which could not go ahead due to covid lockdown. The venue had advised that they had to close but have subsequently refused to refund any money paid. They are very sneaky and only accept payments via bank transfer or cheque knowing that you cannot claim on a chargeback. At the moment they do not even respond to any emails or written communication. I would advise anyone thinking of booking anything here not to hand over any cash at all. As lockdown measures are re-introduced I very much doubt you will see your money again!!

I got a delivery. I don't actually know how you make such a terrible butty. The only way to make such a bad butty is to actually try and make such a terrible butty because even if your a terrible cook you could accidentally make a better butty than this 🤔🤔 honestly its so annoying that a cafe can't pull off a bacon and egg on toast it's cafe basics didn't even cut it. Literally just throw shi* on warm bread and say that'll do. Please just do better or don't call yourself a cafe if you can't put a bacon an egg together. 👍
