Hoya's Cantonese Restaurant in Rochdale

Absolutely horrified, by the behaviour of what I can only call a disrespectful individual. The women serving was classy and handled her self very well. She was looking out for all the customers, not just the ignorant individual who was outside on his phone none stop. While his young children run riot . This individual dropped copious amounts of notes on the floor. I could only guess his trade! The food was amazing the service was, and always is good.I go there 3-4 times a year because it is always fully booked on weekends. I would recommend anyone to go here. I believe the individual who caused this issue would be better suited at planet play across the road. Stay classy Hoyas.

When here for some dinner, hoping to bring my family next time, based on the experience I seen them throw a family out with two young children because of abit of noise, I will not be revisiting this restaurant again.

I came here as I seen the ratings and thought I’d like to give it a try . It was just terrible . The food is very expensive for what it is I don’t think it’s worth it at all , the manager was very rude from the start which is very off putting . No consideration for her customers at all she was always stuck at the back talking to a group of people who must be regulars ignoring the other people around her . She was a miserable woman and just being in her presence made you feel uncomfortable . I don’t advise anybody to come here not only is the food not up to standards for what you pay but you get horrible treatment with the way the manager speaks to you . It’s like she doesn’t want you to be there !! I also heard her telling a family that they would have to leave if their young child carried on making noise as it is disturbing the other customers . Who treats people this way! So RUDE and awful service . Will not be going again what a waste of money.

Probably the worst Chinese food I ever had. No taste and well overpriced. The manager was very rude aswell. She kicked out a family for having children just because she said they were making too much noise

Stay clear I was very dissatisfied when I was firstly ordering . The rudeness of the waitress or manager . The reason was I took too long in making my mind up . I went there for good food but didn’t want to be treated in this way . Very bad service . I was near to tears so needless to say I did t enjoy the food she spoilt this for me with her attitude . Really will never step in that place ever again . It seems she wanted me to be quicker to serve others it’s all about profit ! Sorry those are my feelings and experience!

Both the food and service is wonderful can’t rate highly enough already booked another visit. We had option C on the set menu . There was plenty of food . The starters were awesome but the mains were out of this world .

I went here hoping for a nice evening meal. However I was disgusted to see this woman kick out 2 young toddlers because she said they were making too much noise. I have never been so shocked and disgusted. If they don’t want kids in the restaurant it should be an adult only restaurant. And to top it off my chicken was undercooked. It was just an awful experience! We arrived here and asked if we could be sat on the other side of the restaurant incase our 2 children ( aged 1 and 2) started to become noisy, the woman said no as that side was closed. We sat down and was looking through the menu for around 5-10 minutes. My partner just went outside to use the phone and I was approached by the rude woman . She said you will have to leave as the customers will not have the children being noisy and if we wanted food we will have to order to take away . She was not polite about it what so ever and came across extremely rude . She took the menus off of our table and said we couldn’t stay there . We are very disgusted by this treatment especially with our children . We was all hungry and wanted to sit down and eat our meal as a family and then to be told we would have to leave is just appalling in my eyes . We are very very disappointed with this restaurant . We was recommend by a friend and was excited to try it out but we was just rudely spoken to and told to leave! NOT HAPPY

I come here with my family. My wife, my 2 year old som and 1 year old daughter. We asked to sit on the right side of the restaurant where nobody was as children can be loud. She refused and said we must sit on the other side. 5 minutes later she come and said that we must leave as the other customers won’t want noisy children near them. I was appalled. That is the first time we have ever been asked to leave because of children. The manager who is a around 50/60 years old was miserable as anything. She did not even apologise or try in anyway to subtle down kicking us out because of our children. My son and daughter were hungry and it is not on

Of all the many East Asian cuisine restaurants I have tried, Hoyas is undoubtedly number 1. It does not fail to disappoint every time. In fact, with each visit, the quality of both the meals and customer service beats the last one! It is very rare that I normally praise a restaurant so highly, however, this one is very-well deserved. It lives up to and exceeds my expectations, particularly with the prawn dishes. I still remember the level of satisfaction from the scrumptious taste and perfectly flavoured meals. The customer service is just icing on the cake. Each staff member is highly attentive, enthusiastic, and oh-so polite. If I was to recommend a place to eat in the Northern region, Hoya's would certainly be my first pick. I request everyone to try this at least once, and I would not be surprised if you turn into a loyal and devoted customer, just like myself and my friends!

What was going to be a quiet NYE was made special by picking up a Hoyas takeaway. Fantastic service. Fantastic banquet menu. Fabulous food. We regularly visit the restaurant (when not in lockdown) but over last few months have had takeaways from Hoyas and the standard of food is exactly same as if eating in. Last night we treated ourselves to a 3 course meal for NYE 2020 from there and we were not disappointed - the food is consistently of a very high standard. Comes highly recommended.

I must say from the very get go, I really enjoyed the fun and relaxed ambience in the restaurant. The staff welcomed me and my friends with care and displayed exceptional hospitality. If that was not enough, the food exceeded my expectations. The food we ordered and served to us was elite, high standard cuisine.The prawns were juicy and succulent. The vegetables were beautifully cooked. Each curry different, unique and flavoursome. The best Chinese sit-in restaurant I’ve ever had. Food is so amazing and high-quality, PLUS you get such big portions for the price. I’ve moved away from the NW now and I still can’t find another Chinese restaurant that can match the deliciousness of the food at Hoya’s! Not only that, Linn and the rest of the team at Hoya’s are incredibly warm and friendly. Excellent service. If I could give more than 5 stars, I honestly would!

Ordered a takeaway for the first time as it has a good reputation but was sadly left disappointed - none of the food tasted fresh and the salt and pepper ribs tasted like they’d been heated up after sitting for days. The egg fried rice was soggy and not fresh overall very disappointing and very tasteless

3rd or 4th visit to Hoyas with my business partner and kids. Again it was just delightful the way the starters come on the player for the banquet and kept hot on the table with a plate warmer just the attention to detail that makes it a bit more special. The food was amazing as every visit, I should of reviewed this restaurant along time ago. My only criticism is that the service can seem a bit abrupt at times and I’m sure it’s not personal and it’s just lost in translation. But not enough to put me off or mark it down it just feels a little rushed.

We have never had a negative experience with this little restaurant, and we have been going here for years. Lin, Dave and the staff have always been very attentive and always friendly - Lin even puts up with my husband’s cheekiness and sense of humour. The atmosphere is very comfortable and warm. The combination platters are very tasty, and the menu gives you the option to select your starters to suit your needs or requirements. For the main dishes, there is a large selection to choose from, on the menu with plenty of opportunities for the set menus, combinations or usual menu. Food and service is excellent, and I would certainly recommend it.

Had a take away, the crispy duck was good, but have to say the rest was average at best, my mistake I ordered too many dishes so lots of food but unfortunately it wasn’t no where near the ratings suggest, am sure this can’t be the best that Rochdale has to offer, the lady was pleasant enough who took the order but in my opinion reduce the potion sizes an make them better quality over quality wins every time

Even better whilst waiting for our order we spoke to a lovely couple who had been going there for 12 years. The food was hot, delicious and full of flavour. The staff were polite and friendly. My fiance and visited Hoya's last weekend for our anniversary. We have visited Hoya's numerous times and the food is always delicious. We ordered from the 'Create Your Own Banquet' menu and the starters were lovely. We also ordered the optional course of Aromatic Crispy Duck which was amazing. We both cleared our plates after every course and thoroughly enjoyed our main meals. The gentleman that served us was very friendly and was helpful in advising us on how many starters to order. The staff are always extremely friendly and accomodating. After not having been out for a meal or a drink since the beginning of lockdown we were a little apprehensive about what it would be like. Hand sanitiser was available on arrival and our contact details were taken. The tables were set out with plenty of space between them which made us feel safe throughout the meal. I can't wait for my next visit to Hoya's and always recommend it to family and friends. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Just returned from dining at our favorite restaurant! We were welcomed back with a smile by the wonderful staff of Hoya's after a lengthy lockdown. Our first meal out and it had to be Hoya's, food as delicious as always, staff friendly and welcoming (everybody knows Jason loves Dim Sum!!), it was great to see everybody keeping healthy and well. A safe and wonderful atmosphere, tables are well spaced, hand sanitiser available on entry, contact tracing details taken. we felt safe and welcomed back. I highly recommend Hoya's as a special night out after lockdown, we can't wait to return.Jason & Grace.

This place is such a gem !! Such a cosy place with amazing service. My partner normally leaves half his food when we eat out but even he literally inhaled his main meal !! The portion size is very generous ( we even took a little home with us) would highly recommend we had a lovely time. We visited Hoyas restaurant to celebrate our 8th year wedding anniversary. We decided to choose this restaurant as we have been many times before and we love the food. As we have not dined in a restaurant since the beginning of the year before lockdown we wanted somewhere we felt comfortable as I did not want to feel anxious in a city center restaurant. We booked our table at 5:30pm as we had our 2yr old son with us. We were greeted on arrival and we sanitised our hands from the station prepared and shown to the table. We had a very lovely meal, I alway praise the food and I love my chicken rolls for starters. I felt very safe and at ease and came home full to the brim. Lin is always so friendly towards us and my son and thats why I like it so much. We will be returning again soon

I’m new to the area and it’s safe to say I have already found my go-to chinese restaurant. I have received great food and service every single time. Great selection of dishes on their menu - the salt and pepper chicken wings and Szechuan beef are my favourites.The staff are very welcoming and friendly - you will always leave the place with a happy face.
