House of Tippler in Southwark

Apparently my friends really like it, since I’ve been invited out there twice recently by different folks. The bar staff were super friendly and they accommodated our little kids (1&3yo) really nicely, as it’s not really a family focused place. More of a drinkers type bar. Slightly older crowd with an left leaning arts hip vibe, at least on a Sunday. Their negronis were good. Friends booked a space at the back and were well taken care of as a mid-small-ish party. I wasn’t so into it as a venue when I went on a Saturday a few months ago... but hey, maybe my bar hopping party days are behind me.

Love this neighbourhood bar. The music is stunning, tonight there was a fantastic 70s funk playlist, as the live music was setting up. Regular DJ nights with a music standard of top clubs. Table service by friendly staff, really cool decor throughout, and a relaxed vibe. Kitchen is reopening end of June, looking forward to trying the new small plates menu. A must visit place if you’re in the area.

Have been searching for a place in East Dulwich that actually makes it feel worth while to go out, rather than cook your own and I’ve finally found it. Not only were we asked how we’d like our beef cooked, but you can also get a mixed roast (pork and beef) if you’re indecisive! Proper crispy roast potatoes too and loved the rain snow veg!

We had a great waitresses who served us. She was polite and very attentive, but there was another waitress, possibly manger who was extremely rude just because my friends had a bag of nuts. She came over to our table and snached them off his hand. I'm sure it's the bar policy but we have spent a lot of money at this bar. She was rude, which really spoilt our night. Terrible place, apart from lovely young waitresses.

The House of Tippler is your friendly neighbourhood bar. The service, food and drinks are excellent. A great place to find a quiet corner and catch up with a mate on a week day, or a great place to release some work built stress with some dancing on the weekend! They've always got innovative events going on with a weekly changing live music and DJ roster. If you haven't had a tipple at Tippler do! A real gem South of the river... 👌🍸🕺

This is a great wee bar The cocktails are excellent, the vibe is very friendly and the music is always cool and great to dance to. I've eaten here too and the new tapas style menu is lovely Tim and his crew of staff are always very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. A cool place to hang out in with friends...

Decided to visit House of Tippler as it has been recommended so may times. I thought it was outstanding in every way, The staff could not do enough for you giving recommendations to which cocktails to choose and even made me a couple that were not on the menu. The bar itself has a cool feel and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend a visit here and I can't wait to go back.

This place is pleasant, cosy and welcoming! I always enjoy some of their cocktails, when they create them, it feels like they are making it special just for you, like its unique :) I have to say the food is really tasty ! all little dishes are easy to share, so you can try most of the items (veggies , fish , meat...) on the menu which is excellent. I love fried food , so the croquetas are my fav ! keep going guys you are doing amazingly great! Thank you for the night !

A great local place to go out, with a really knowledgeable and enthusiastic bar staff, cocktails are great! The food is wonderful, exciting flavours, a colourful mixture of Mediterranean cuisine, cool presentation, not your average run of the mill tapas!! The chef certainly has some surprises up her sleeve. The ambiance is homely and they often have live music nights and djs, the cosy atmosphere and atmospheric lighting, and everyone is on the dance floor! Go for a meal or a drink, then go back again!!

I've been to House of Tippler plenty of times and love pretty much everything about it. From the original Tapas style food, courtesy of talented chef Maya of Pretty Tapas, to the delicious cocktails, from revisited classics to new creations (and very reasonable priced at £7.95 considering London standard and awful cocktails for double price I've had in plenty of Central London bars..) . The staff is very friendly and warm also when having to deal with the occasional abusive and rude people on weekends nights. Live music and DJs on Friday and Saturday nights after 9 and family-friendly Sunday roast and brunches during the day. Definitely worth a visit if you go or live South of the river

LOVE this local bar......tapas menu is very good & the cocktails so good you will definitely have more than 1.....2..maybe 3....... great ambience as well with DJ's & live bands....cant get enough of the place.....

House Of Tippler is a great versatile bar offering great food and has a welcoming friendly vibe. Tim and his team are professional and creative and always go the extra mile to make you feel at home. The cocktails are great and fairly priced and cocktails not on the menu are mixed to taste. The sunday roast is delicious and Chef Maya's weekday Tapas menu with a twist is tasty and great value for money. The rabbit this season has been exceptional! I've been there with friends, family and for business and it has delivered every time. I highly recommend this bar.

Myself and our party of friends received absolutely shocking service from House of Tippler. Caroline the bar tender/staff from the point of entry was hostile, unaccommodating, rude, unwelcoming cold and flippant . The service was truly shocking we ended up going to a wonderful establishment within the area. The food was scarce, served cold and not cooked to an edible standard. The dining area was noisy with a constant cold breeze coming in from outside. The House of Tippler gets no stars. Dont waste your money on this one

Came in here for cocktails. Caipirinha was good. Vodka martini with a twist was poor; not cold enough and too much vermouth. Mean on the quantities too. They should do better if a proper cocktail bar. Boo hoo.

brilliant bar with live music or dj's on Friday at Saturday.. great crowd. nice seating for a smoke out the front. why go in to town when this is on the doorstep?

Mild mannered bar and eatery during the day with very friendly staff and fun, DJ dance hall by night. Really good spirited and lively night spot that quits late, close and cozy and tonnes of fun. Nice patio and rear garden for warmer days. Venture out into the cocktails as there are capable bar staff taking care of you.

What can i say this place is just awesome i go here reguarly &tim &all the staff cannot do more than enough for you to the cocktails &the funky music it really is a wee gem of a place

2nd visit and always a blast, great cocktails, great DJ and brilliant staff. Will always be my go to place when I fancy a local night out.

Beautiful bar at the end of my street!!! Had a really good time. Tim and his team make it special every time .. The Place was bustling without being too noisy or too much of a scene. Nice place to hang out with friends, dance , Dj's ..or to have a meal as a couple. Drinks were also solid and the tapas dishes was popular. It's residential area which helps add to the feel of the place.

Popped in for a roast after reading they did the best in dulwich, it was amazing. The pork was perhaps the best roast pork I've ever had, a second plate for carrots and gravy and potatoes, really recommend.

We wanted to chill with good beer a few snacks, but or music and the olympics in the background. All were delivered superbly. Great music excellent tapas good service and cold beer! I'm sure it livelier in the evenings but for us - just what we wanted !

Been to the House of Tippler a few times now and it has never let me down! Great cocktails and the service is impeccable! I would 100% recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I'm surprised at the other reviews. We've been here twice and find the service unfriendly, the prices outrageous, and the ambience lacking. This place misses the mark on so many levels. Our conclusion is it's objective is to make money late in the night when everything else is closed. There are far cooler and classier places in the vicinity, and if they're closed, go home. Avoid.

Well worth a visit on a Saturday night...great atmosphere (everybody seemed to know each other and welcomed new comers!) at bar and dance floorMusic was excellent and we boogied till the early hours. Great mix of people of all ages which made chit chat more interesting.Did not eat so cannot comment of foodHighly recommend if you want to dance to old beats and old 70's-90's killer tunes!

Visited here last Friday night with three friends ,wasn't sure what to expect as have heard very mixed reports , however the whole place is confusing is it a resturant , cocktail bar or a meeting place for a coffee , food ok not exactly tapas and very expensive, cocktails ok had much better at half the price , decor well typical lordship lane looks great in the dark but very scruffy and dirty when the lights come on , live band and dj was great I loved the music but my friend hated it ( that's personal choice ) , would I go again no !!! Much better places out there .

Ended up here after a meal out elsewhere on a weekday evening. Very relaxed, great service and loved the venue. Wasnt sure what to expect when I walked in but quickly loved the ambience and general vibe. Was quite busy given Tuesday evening and just a really nice place to go. Prices sensible too. Highly recommend.

Good atmosphere ,and friendly staff. Tables a little on the small side but the food was great. Perfect roasts, served hot and with good selection of vegetables. Would definitely return.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere, the retro style and most importantly the cocktails and food. Very friendly and welcoming bar staff who were happy to prepare any cocktail even if it wasn't on the extensive drinks menu.

Great place. Been for cocktails before, but not food other than snacks. One of the best roast dinners I've had. Beef was plentiful and perfectly medium rare.Yorkshires crispy, gravy flavoursome. Wasn't very busy at all, so almost one on one service with a smile. I hesitate in writing this review as I'm not sure i want word to get out!!5*

I celebrated my 30th birthday over the weekend and cannot fault House of Tippler. From the initial conversation of booking, Tim and his team were superb. The service was great; the music was spot on and nothing was too much hassle. I would recommend House of Tippler as not only a good spot for drinks but a night out especially if you're having a party. Thanks guys!

We enjoyed a rare 'after hours' knees-up on Saturday, in the form of a rollicking spell at House of Tippler. The bar's long, skinny shape couldn't accommodate a proper dance floor but that didn't stop the mid '30s crowd busting dated - but cheerful - moves. On this occasion, the DJ was playing a hilarious mix of '90s garage (Artful Dodger; DJ Luck and MC Neat) and retro R ’n' B (Montell Jordan; Destiny's Child). While the kitsch soundtrack didn't hit the spot...

This place is primarily know as a cocktail bar, which are excellent BTW, but we tried it for Sunday lunch having just returned from holiday in the early hours of Sunday morning and with nothing in the fridge so decided to give it a try. We were very pleasantly surprised that they do excellent Sunday roasts. I had the roast beef and pork combo, the rare beef was delicious as was the pork, a huge Yorkshire pudding and really tasty roast vegetables and plenty of gravy. Some lovely Portuguese wine to keep us in the holiday spirit and all was well. Portions were very generous and no danger of needing something else on the way home! Service was excellent and very friendly and the atmosphere is chilled with good music. We'll definitely be back, just hope we can get a seat!

A great find open until 1:30am on a Saturday. Very charismatic bar tenders in fun shirts with an excellent cocktail menu. This place is great for a date and hey you even get the security door staff dancing. Great place

My friend and I popped in for a few cocktails last night and were greeted by a friendly guy behind the bar who went through the menu and offered the cocktail of the night, which was gorgeous! We sat outside in the sun and once finished our drinks another very friendly waitress came over and offered us the drinks menu and gave us suggestions of the other cocktails. Stayed for two drinks and the staff were incredibly attentive and all so smiley! We left and was about 1/2 mile down the road when the young waitress was running up to us with my friends cardigan! She'd run to try and catch us, bless her! (I asked for her name and promised to write a review, but have forgotten already, sorry!) Amazing service and well done to all the lovely friendly staff! Will be back soon!

Good place for good cocktails and very good bar food/snacks prior to going on somewhere else. Not sure what evenings are like as tables always seem to be booked up for evenings,!!!

Always go here before we head in for dinner, staff are always friendly and the drinks and great. Nice atmosphere and looking forward to trying the Sunday roast. This is a highlight on lordship lane.

If you are not in a rush, you'll like this place. The cocktails are very good, and the Martini’s are VERY good. It feels like a hipster Shoreditch bar in Dulwich — in a good way!The food snacks are good and the atmosphere is relaxed and cool with it.Probably the best bar in the Lordship Lane strip...

This neighbourhood cocktail bar is a real gem, the mixology is done to perfection with a wealth of knowledge from all the bar staff, they can shake up the most amazing drinks, always with a smile. The live music on a Friday night is superb and with garden space at the front and back, a prefect place to while away the hours with a rum punch in the sun!

We were here for New Years Eve and had such a great time. The cocktails here never let me down - the Whiskey Sours are fantastic as are the Old fashioned and some of the cocktails on the menu. To be honest, we drank our way through most of them, hence the sore head.The chips are sliders are nice. The only thing they could do more of is food, but I think they are restricted with space in a kitchen. However, some more tapas or choice of cold meats would be very welcome by me!Keep it up - we'll be back very soon!

This is my local and would recommend highly, if ever in SE22 give it a try. The service is excellent and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. The Boss,Tim is an amazing host and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The ambience and decore adds to its already homely feel. Great selection of cocktails and well stocked up on a great selection of Rums. To be honest you will not find a better place to just chill and have a cheeky one, always a good crowd and plenty of space to just do your own thing. Lordship lane has a lot to offer but no trip to the lane is complete without popping in for a cheeky Rum. Be sure to pop in on a weekend and get to tucking in to a Sunday roast accompanied by a double Diplomatico Rum. The roast itself is very reasonably priced considering the quality of ingredients. This place is by far my favourite place to eat drink and catch up with friends and family. Not many places left anymore that make you feel more welcomed as a guest rather than just another paying customer. House Of Tipplar get 5 stars and a thumbs up from me.Highly recommended.

Staff are lovely, cocktails great. Fresh ingredients and a interesting menu. Brunch is excellent as are the Sunday roasts. Standard menu has lots of 'tapas' style nibbles. All executed well.

We went to House of Tippler for drinks and food after our wedding rehearsal at a local church. Platters of food were excellent and the cocktails were top notch! Excellent service too.

Fantastic Sunday Roast served with a smile by Mr and Mrs Tippler themselves. Veg comes separate and we asked for extra gravy which wasn't a problem. Beef itself was really soft. We're asked how we wanted our beef which isn't something we'd normally be asked. Not tried anything else on the menu but the roast is a winner.

Excellent all round bar and restaurant , never had the Sunday roast but spent a few hungover Saturdays brunching over a few cocktails.Very friendly place with no pretentions, a great cocktail list and if its not on they will make anything you want.Highly recommended.

The sunday roast is a not to be missed experience. Hats off to Tim for bringing the best value and tastiest roast beef to East Dulwich. The Mai Tai cocktail is to die for. And my boyfriend loves the sticky toffee pudding to boot. They also do kids portions.

Can't review the food, as we only called in for a drink,however the meals looked excellent and judging by overheard comments (we weren't listening!!) tasted just as good. The main reason I want to add a review is the fact that they are not only dog friendly, but welcoming too. No raised eyebrows when we asked if we could bring her in, and didn't have to sit outside,although we did as it was a very rare hot day! An unasked for bowl of water was put down which we thought was a nice touch and much appreciated by a thirsty pooch. Our drinks were served with a smile and we could happily have spent longer there if we'd had time. Would go back for a meal in future if in that area of London.

They offer an amazing mixed pork and beef roast so you don't have to choose. Served with massive homemade Yorkshire and yummy roasties. Really great atmosphere. Felt like being in a back street Paris bar.

You have to try this bar - the staff are very knowledgeable and make the best cocktails that I have had in London. Its not too pricey either! The comfy seats at the back are great for snuggling with your latest squeeze, or for a group of friends. Start your evening here or stay the night - I love it

My other half and I finally did what we had intended to after a good few weeks of saying we were going to - we went to the House of Tippler to try their Sunday roasts. OH my God, it really was amazing. Proper roast potatoes, like ones cooked at home, not reheated rubbish! Honey roasted veggies with a MASSIVE homemade yorkshire pud, homemade horseradish cream which was also amazing, they arent stingy with the gravy either and only £12.50 as the usual price, in Jan we were happy to discover its 25% off so a tenner, brilliant! One of the best roasts I have had in London.We have only been there before for cocktails which are also amazing and the service is always good, every time we go back we notice it is getting better and better in there. HOT has it all!

Brunched here with friends on a Saturday recently. Nice relaxed bar, good food with an interesting mixture of light bites and brunch, and attentive, interested service. Cocktail menu looks interesting and good value also.

Tippler is one my friends and I keep returning to. Mostly tapas style food which is consistently high quality. Great cocktails, plenty of beer (mostly bottled) and wine, and Tim and his team know what they're talking about. Great little sun trap during the summer and some comfy couches by the window in the chillier months. Just started doing roasts on a Sunday but yet to try those. Can recommend almost anything else tho. Especially breakfast - Eggs Benedict is a great antidote for a hangover! Double check before visiting but I don't think they allow children here! Plenty of other places around for families though. This is often quietish and chilled during the day.

This place is equally good during the day as it is late at night. Tastefully decorated with comfy seats, a welcoming bar area, as well as plenty of corner areas which work well for larger groups of people meeting up. I have been in here while a birthday party was going on, didn't really interfere with the regular visitors. Food is inventive however on the bar snack size as opposed to the larger plates - market fish goujon and chip with piemento mayonnaise, H.o.T dog served with caramalised onions, tomato relish mustard, ham croquettes with a spicy ketchup, grilled onglet steak shallot rings and bone marrow, chicken chorizo and red pepper skewers with a satay dipping sauce - to name a few, not your typical chips and onion rings sort of bar food. They make awesome cocktails here (the best on the lane), all at £7.50, my favourite is the 'come rain or shine' clementines shaken with lemon, almond and gin, served long with a touch of soda. A good selection of beers and wines are also available. The staff are friendly and very welcoming, co-owner Tim is behind the bar most days and nights making sure all the customer are having a great time. H.o.T has most certainly raised the bar on the lane in terms of a place that you can relax in during the day, have good food in, have late night drinks in, not be shoved and pushed trying to get to the bar, and get great service. I'd recommend this place to visit with your significant other, with friends, even with your family during the day. They have a front outside area that attracts the sun, so I think this place will be heaving come summer.
