The Lordship Pub in Southwark

Pub/restaurant located top end of Lordship Lane. Lots of street parking. Advisable to book at weekends. Simple old style pub decor. No nonsense, efficient and friendly service. Good British menu of classic dishes. Jersey oysters were super fresh and delicious as was hot served scotch eggs. Dressed crab also super fresh and delicious , along with perfectly cooked beef roastie dinner. Great and reasonably priced wine list and dessert menu. British cheese plate very good. Highly recommended local restaurant serving great quality British dishes.

Nice neighbourhood gastro pub, with a spacious and airy dining room and a relaxed atmosphere. The food is nice but maybe a bit hit-and-miss, service is friendly though a bit amateurish, and prices are average.

This is my favourite go-to local.. always a buzzy and warm atmosphere. Great food (try the homemade pie/s!), excellent wine list and beers on tap. We went for Sunday lunch and it was outstanding - and thankfully NOT spoiled by screaming kids (unlike the experience of the previous weekend, at a venue that shall remain nameless). Best pub in the area by far.

I love the Lordship! Have been going for years and it is our family favourite. Andrew and the team have really made it a proper ‘go to’ local - delicious pub grub and great wine list. It’s tough in the current climate and they continue to do an exemplary job - best pub in London in my opinion. Could not recommend it more highly :)

Fabulous pub! We've been to the Lordship many times in the evenings and at weekends. The staff and Landlord are always welcoming and the food is great, always piping hot and tasty! They do a delicious Sunday roast too. Would highly recommend a visit!

Awesome Sunday roast yesterday. You couldn’t tell it was late in the service; meat and veg were all fresh, piping hot, and completely delicious. Best in the area….?

Very disappointed with the owner of this pub who cancelled our reservation the day before today as we had 3 adults and 5 children on the booking (one of which is 8 and has an adult meal and one baby). Apparently their policy is adults have to out number children. So if you are a single parent with two kids, or a couple with more than 2 kids, or worse - a two child family who may have lost a parent, you aren’t welcome here. The owner believes that if they allow this they would “go out of business”. Sounds pretty discriminatory to me. Very ironic as I would have thought giving appalling service, turning away very loyal customers who eat there very regularly (we used to eat here at least 8-10 times per year), and being anti children in East Dulwich is more likely to kill your business. But good luck to you. Two families and regulars won’t be visiting again.

When you walk into a pub and the first exchange is " if you are not eating you can only stand at the bar"...you know another pub has lost its purpose as a meeting place and center of community. Gstropub be dammed..

We were celebrating a birthday party here. The food and service was excellent. The menu offered a variety of fantastic dishes.

We went here for a family meal and the food was absolutely delicious. Every one of us was very pleased. The staff were so friendly and helpful and it all contributed to a lovely time at a fair price. We highly recommend!

It's a wonderful pub to visit. Some great beers on tap. Bar staff all excellent. Will knock together cocktails should you want them. Food was excellent. Could not fault that at all. Happily return for food and for drink.

The Lordship, as always, provided excellent food and service for our party of ten, enjoying meals from the Xmas Set Menu and Seasonal Menu – both of which provided a decent range of vegetarian and GF options. The venison haunch and sticky toffee pudding (served separately!) were considered especially divine. The staff were welcoming and helpful, with an added touch of bringing out our courses from the kitchen and distributing them according to our names on the pre-booking order (“vodka salmon for Peter”). The pub interior is spacious, and the atmosphere happy and lively. We will be continuing to hold our group bookings here across the year. Many thanks to all the lovely staff!

We had a most enjoyable family meal in this spacious, relaxed gastropub staffed by delightful, very attentive servers. The service was attentive but unhurried and all food was served delicious, beautifully presented and piping hot. Can’t fault it and hope to return.

Good range of beers on tap. Setup with a large number of tables and seems a bit more orientated towards people eating there rather than just having a drink. Not too many standing areas inside.

A lovely pub with super staff who are exactly chatty enough and leave you feeling really looked after. We had roasts and my pork belly was perfect. The beef was arguably too generous (if that's a thing), I have a personal dislike of gravy-lubed peas rolling around in a roast, and please please more roast potatoes, but everything was really yummy and after a sticky toffee pudding was left perfectly full and very happy.

My favourite place to eat in East Dulwich never disappoint the service is 10/10 with food to match … it’s a win for me 🥰

I went for a wedding there and I had the chance to witness the work be hind the scene. Wonderful stiff, really friendly, and accommodating. The food was nice and the atmosphere relaxed.

I have just celebrated a birthday with friends and family in the Private Upstairs Room. The service and food where impeccable and every guest commented in a very positive way. Chris, who oversaw the event, was friendly, helpful and efficient, ensuring everyone was looked after. I can usually find fault, but on this occasion, I could not.

Really lovely staff. The barman created a non-alcoholic Pimm's which tasted brilliant. The food was super tasty with no delays. The only criticism is the acoustics. With high ceilings and lots of reflective surfaces it is really difficult to hear people across the table. Some acoustic treatment would go down a treat! Just like the Pimm's. ☺️

Attended a wedding here. The pub was closed to the public and the whole pub was for the wedding. Food was great. It was put in the middle of the table so that everyone could help themselves. Those with dietary requirements had theirs brought separately which was great. Veggie option was delicious and came with its own jug of gravy. The staff were friendly and attentive. The pub itself is a good rustic venue with a small outside area.

The food and wine here are fantastic - big fan of the seafood in particular. Service is always top notch. They often hold wedding receptions (I guess because the food is great!) so it's not always easy to get in. I’m hoping it’ll be easier now autumn’s arrived!

My sister in law had her 50th birthday here and it was frickin awesome. The staff (especially Alex) were terrific, the venue perfect, the food unexpectedly delicious and it resulted in a brilliant party.

A lot of the photos from events hire make this pub look a bit uptight/fancy but on an ordinary week day it had a welcoming chilled vibe with friendly staff and really good food.

Sunday lunch needs work for the price. Very echoey. Often full of lots of children, so if that’s not your thing avoid. Nice little beer garden but weirdly no smoking allowed

Beautiful place with a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend that anyone near or passing try this place. Upon walking in, it was beautifully lit with lovely decor. The staff were truly lovely and very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. The menu is wonderful and very fairly priced. Food was absolutely incredible. Every one of us (party of 6) ate every bit of food and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything was cooked to perfection. Made for a very special 50th birthday celebration. Next time I'm down in London, I'll definitely be visiting again. 10 out of 10. You will not regret popping in whether you're having a drink or a meal.

I recently attended a wedding reception at The Lordship Pub where the whole pub was booked out for the party. We started in the beer garden for drinks and delicious canapés and then moved inside for the more formal parts of the day/evening. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent, the management were very attentive and organised and everything flowed beautifully. A brilliant celebration. Would definitely recommend.

I visited to attend a wedding. It's a lovely pub, great atmosphere, beautifully decorated for the wedding. Staff is so welcoming, and the outdoors are also lovely. I would definitely recommend this place for parties, for dinner, drinks and music, and for wedding receptions too. They surely know how to make everyone feel happy and how to create a whole beautiful ambience

We used the private function room at The Lordship for our sons Christening. They were amazing from organisation through to execution! Super hands on, helpful and amazing service. The food on the day was fantastic and we had a constant flow of booze to keep the guests happy! No ask was too much! Really made the occasion special. Thank you all very much!

Our favourite local pub. We've moved to the area 3 years ago but can't stop coming back here. The menu is brilliant, the staff friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious. We had sunday lunch here yesterday and loved every second of it. Andrew, Chris and the team are always very attentive and really looked after us. We will keep coming back, thanks for a lovely Easter meal.

This review is mainly for the food, specifically the vegan Sunday roast. I have to say, unfortunately it was the worst vegan roast I’ve had which is disappointing as we’ve just moved a couple of doors down, so was hoping to become regulars. The vegan option was cumin & paprika cauliflower steak which I normally love, they can be delicious when seasoned correctly, this however was just a large lump of cauliflower, roasted, I couldn’t taste any seasoning at all, so effectively my roast was just a plate of vegetables. The vegan gravy, was like water, and I’m not exaggerating, it was like pouring water over my food, I had to mix in mustard to have some flavour and season almost every bite with salt and pepper. I left feeling like I’d wasted money and calories on tasteless food, again, super disappointing as the meat options all seem to get great reviews and my partner enjoyed his meat roast and gravy. Service however was lovely hence the 3 stars instead of 1.

Went to the Lordship last night for a meal with some friends. Upon arrival, wanted to sit in the bar area for a drink before heading to our table for food. We were swiftly evicted as there was a party booked. This reinforced my feelings from before that the Lordship is definitily not a 'pub' any more as you can't really just go and drink. The pub was absolutely freezing everywhere and when mentioning this to staff, found out their boilers were broken. Feel like they should have messaged this to people with bookings as it was quite uncomfortable. As a vegan, I had only the cauliflower steak and chips as an option. When it arrived, it was actually fries, which I don't like. The dish was not at all filling and really not worth the money. All of this said, the staff are so lovely and attentive which made it a pleasant evening.

Service was absolutely stellar - really lovely staff, very attentive despite it being a busy Sunday visit. We were on a large table of 15 and everything went really smoothly (which often isn't the case in a large group). Banging vegetarian Sunday roast 👌

Great food, good service, and ales on tap. More of a restaurant than a pub, but out of all the pubs in dulwich, the Lordship does some of the best food. Enjoyable place for a family meal.

We had my partner’s 30th birthday at the Lordship and it was superb! Andrew and his team were incredibly helpful with the planning and the service was of a very high standard. The food is excellent and at a level above most pubs. The whole set up is very professional and the team go above and beyond to ensure you have an unrivalled experience.

Very nice service, good selection of beers, decent Sunday roast.

Restaurant/pub located at the top end of Lordship Lane ..nice dining spaces around bar and servery, as well as a nice outside space. Very welcoming and efficient service through meal. Great selection of traditional British and European dishes. Scotch egg appetiser was delicious as were salted cod croquettes with a tasty alioli. Oysters were fresh and perfectly salty. Main belly of pork was enormous with perfect salty/crispy crackling and veg/properly cooked light and crispy Yorkshire Pudding. Crab main was also excellent. Drinks all very reasonably priced with a decent wine list. Overall great value, generous portioned well cooked food served in a relaxed no nonsense dining space. Well worth a visit.

Andrew, Chris and the team helped us host our wedding here. From the planning to the day itself, the whole experience was faultless. During the day and since, feedback from our guests has been glowing for both the staff and the food. We would throughly recommend the Lordship. We had our wedding reception at the pub in September 2022 and we could not have asked for more from the venue and their team. From planning and tasting pre covid, to rescheduling and through to the day, Andrew and his team could not have been more helpful, cooperative and accommodating. Andrew ensured that we achieved the best wedding reception with the most amazing canapés and sharing food platters and delicious drinks. Setup and take down was made super easy and we can’t wait to go back and have a meal at the Lordship! We will hold very dear memories of the place forever.

😌 It was the best of times, it was the wor.. 😅 well, let me explain. Clearly giving 4 stars means that I think you should definitely come here but there are caveats! The atmosphere was warm and inviting as were the staff. In fact the staff were great, very friendly! The mains were terrific, I went for steak and chips 🥩🍟 and those with me said the pies were amazing, so all good there too. Now, those who follow my reviews will be aware I love dessert 🍰, it's my favourite part of the meal and unfortunately, regrettably, this is where things went very wrong. The sticky toffee pudding wasn't sticky as such (I had to scoop the toffee from around the sponge and pour it over), the apple in the apple crumble had a weird taste I really can't describe well and the crumble was grainy and not crumbly (or toasted for that matter). It the final issue was the custard. It was simultaneously thin and lumpy. Most of us didn't get through more than two spoons. Had it not been for this, it would be an easy 5 Stars ✨. In summary, go, enjoy the great mains but I'd skip dessert.

Six of us had an excellent Sunday lunch here last week. We were very impressed with the quality of the cooking. Not the usual pub Sunday lunch, but a more imaginative menu , cooked properly. Good reasonable wine list, and lovely friendly staff. We were trying The Lordship for our Sunday Lunch club, and immediately booked a table for the club.

Our new favourite lunch pub on Lordship Lane. It must be a couple, or given covid, four years since our last visit but so glad we revisited. The service is welcoming and efficient. Even more importantly the wine list was a delight and by the time we arrived Blossom had already ordered an elegant and usually buttery Saint Veran chardonnay. The list is mainly comprised of French and Italian wines with the odd nod to the new world. We also tried one of the Sicilian reds and cannot wait to go back and try some more of the wines. I think I liked the sound of everything on the menu and our veggie/prescie daughter was delighted to have so many choices, all of which sounded proper dishes rather than apologetic afterthought. The girls had what was described as monkfish but turned out to be hake. Nevertheless, deliciously served on a bed of diced celeriac. I took the last wild venison pie: no soggy bottom or sides here! Probably achieved by serving the gravy separately. Went down very nicely with a glass of Primativo. In summary, we are looking forward to our next visit.

This pub is probably my favourite in ED. The food is excellent and staff so friendly and knowledgeable. We keep going back for lunch - recommend the moules highly.

Nice outdoor seating area and a good range of drinks on offer

We had the most wonderful wedding reception at the Lordship at the end of July. Andrew was so helpful on the run up to the day offering advice on timings and the order of the day and answered all my follow-up questions immediately. Chris and the team were brilliant on the day and the staff were so friendly and welcoming and really looked after us. The pub itself is gorgeous, all being on one level with the pretty outside space too worked perfectly for us. The food (wedding feast) was amazing. I can’t thank Andrew, Chris and the team enough. Highly recommend this pub. Fantastic!

Really high standard of food. Friendly staff and well spaced tables making it a great space and properly child friendly, without feeling oppressive. My son has nut allergy that was taken seriously and everything tasted great. Strong recommend
