Hotwinds Chinese Takeaway in York

After trying here, I wont go anywhere else. It certainly is the best. Full of flavour, fresh and good selection. I definitely won't forget anywhere else.

Tried loads but this one is the best by far. The taste, quality of ingredients is definitely worth the wait for trying to get through.

Fantastic food tonight. 2nd time we have ordered in the last three weeks and the food Is fantastic. I would definitely recommend anyone to try this place.. Happy eating 😋

Always busy on the phone but keep trying it's worth a redial delivery is super quick and the food is great, we eat here usually once every couple of weeks

Regular customer called to say food was not up to standard. Sweet and sour Chicken balls oozed oil when cut, king prawn chow mein was very greasy and had a taste of old oil. Salt and pepper chips were just normal chips with onions at the bottom. However the Chicken fried rice was lovely what was ordered. I Spoke to the chap on the phone to say and feed back and he said that it’s always cooked like that and they weren’t prepared to do anything about it, he’d checked with the kitchen and there were no problems. I said they could come and collect it to see for themselves. Such a shame that they didn’t recognise that from a regular Customer they were not prepared to offer anything as a gesture. Sadly they have most my custom now…..

We have never had a bad meal from here. We are always very happy with the service and food and have used them serval times over the last few years.

food was cold and definitely warmed up from the night before , as soon a i tasted it i could tell it was stale . called the to explain and basically nothing they can do !!! never will go back !!

We have used Hotwinds throughout the Pandemic and never once been let down by either the food quality and taste of the delivery. I agree with some that it can take a while to speak on the phone, but to me that proves that lots of people are ordering a great meal. I tend to ring up a couple of days before the weekend to order that way I get no problem getting through when the staff are at their Busiest. We probably had 40 orders in both 2020 and 2021 and still order for delivery most Fridays.

Very disappointing as the food arrived stone cold after a long wait. The potions are variable - just not very good at all.

First time having a Chinese takeaway for a long time due to some dodgy meals from other outlets. Hotwinds was reccomended by a work colleague and WOW! Honestly the best Chinese curry we have ever had! Battered chicken balls, spring rolls and prawn toast also amazing.

Staying at nearby York caravan park we found their menu, decided to give them a try and it was a good choice, delivery was early, and they called us when they'd arrived at the entrance, friendly delivery driver and e eryrhing was hot, don't order too much as its good size portions and really tasty, would use again if we were here again.

We don't live near the take away but have really enjoyed quality chinese food from here. Not easy to find good chinese in York so worth the detour.

Good, reliable Chinese food. Fresh vegetables. We like the black bean dishes, noodles, prawn toast, king prawns.

Never answer the phone. Its constantly engaged. Several people i know had the same problem especially on a weekend. Shocking service. Wouldn't mind the food is really nice but spending up to an hour trying to get thru its not worth it. Cash only which is inconvenient but hey ho saves on the tax bill.

Sorry not the best at all paid £60 for my mums birthday beef was so chewy and the prawn toast was very gooey. Chips were burnt and I didn’t like that you couldn’t pay with card especially during this pandemic. Not the best not the worse.

Ordenado hoy colección dijo 20 minutos de espera fue a recoger comida lista, muy caliente y sabrosa.El arroz frito con curry de ternera como antes encierra un sabroso impulso de bienvenida.Es mucho mejor con nuevos propietarios.Se lo recomiendo a cualquiera que pueda necesitar un impulso para un curry el sábado por la noche.Bien hecho Vientos calientes.Ordenaré de nuevo el próximo sábado.

Esta es la segunda vez que he estado en esta comida para llevar y NO me ha decepcionado.La comida era deliciosa, comí pollo a la sal y pimienta con arroz frito con pollo, ambos cocinados a la perfección. El proceso de pedido fue muy fácil y eficiente. Recogí la entrega y quedé muy impresionado con la limpieza de todo el lugar con un personal amable. Fue un pedido grande, ya que éramos algunos y nos dejaron pagar por separado en efectivo. ¡Definitivamente volveremos a ir!

We had our first ever takeaway from HotWinds this evening after being recommended by a friend. It was fantastic, we particularly enjoyed the beef satay and the Salt & Pepper spare ribs. We’ll certainly be using this Chinese again.

Decidimos darle otra oportunidad a los vientos calientes después de escuchar que había cambiado de dueño y que también era mucho mejor. Pedimos pollo frito en salsa satay, no era pollo frito, estaba desmenuzado y era bastante soso, la mitad se tiró a la basura. También pedimos pollo frito con chili crujiente, esto era absolutamente perfecto en textura, probamos todo, muy, muy agradable. También pedimos chips de sal y pimienta, también muy sabrosos y crujientes y calientes. También pedimos arroz frito con pollo, estaba bien, pero no mucho pollo o salsa de soja. También pedimos pollo Kung po, el plato no se parecía en nada al Kung po que había comido anteriormente y definitivamente no era pollo, era cerdo en una salsa suave con brócoli y zanahorias, solo comimos una cucharada y el resto en el compartimiento. También pedimos dos porciones de salsa de curry que estaba delicioso. La factura total llegó a un razonable 27. 40, simplemente muy decepcionado con dos platos principales, especialmente sirviendo cerdo en lugar de pollo. Algunos pueden decir por qué no quejarse, siento que con todo lo que está sucediendo en el clima actual, hay mucho más de qué preocuparse que una decepcionante conclusión.

After several month i returned to Hotwinds as i was informed its under new ownership and i had vowed never to return but i read some new reviews and thought i would try it . I phone my order in for collection was told 15 minutes so got there within 10 minutes and my order was sat on the back of the counter waiting for me i thought OK but sadly when i got home it was not hot only warm the meal was average not great and sadly expensive for what it was feel sad to write this review as so hoped it would be good it was not as bad as previous owners but i will not be returning back sorry.

La comida estaba muy fría, pedimos 2 currys de pollo que tuvieron que pagar extra por arroz o papas fritas. Pedí arroz deshilachado y me cobraron 2 - 20 cada uno por arroz encima 5 - 60 cada curry no volverá, no importa pagando por una buena comida pero no me gusta que me hayan estafado este domingo 27 de octubre de 2019

La última visita esperó más de una hora para mi pedido. no quería volver a usarlo, pero estaba pasando hoy y pensé que volvería a intentarlo, ya que todos tienen un mal día de vez en cuando, pero todos cerraron sin motivo. Es una pena porque fueron muy buenos a lo largo de los años, ¡así que algo debe haber salido mal! !

Tuve muchos comentarios de aquí, pero este tiene que ser uno de los peores. El servicio era malo, la comida tenía un sabor horrible, especialmente la tostada de langostinos muy grasienta y el aceite de cocina tenía un sabor incalculable. Creo que el chef ha cambiado como definitivamente no es el estándar habitual.

A veces excelente, a veces deja mucho que desear. La comida siempre es buena, y la entrega en su mayoría razonable, pero a veces lleva un poco tiempo. El problema es que a menudo obtienen el orden equivocado y parecen reacios a resolver el problema. La última vez nos pidieron que devolviéramos los platos equivocados y que recogiéramos los platos correctos. Sin embargo, cuando nos dijeron que teníamos la entrega porque no teníamos automóvil, ellos nos dieron a luz. Esta comida para llevar fue la que utilizamos regularmente, ya que siempre fue tan bueno las dos últimas veces que me he dado cuenta de que el nuevo personal estaba sirviendo, le pregunté si los propietarios anteriores se habían ido.

Decidí probar este chino ya que recientemente se mudó a la zona. Que broma. Pusimos nuestro pedido, pagamos la comida y esperamos, esperamos y esperamos. Durante toda la espera de 30 minutos, el teléfono estaba sonando constantemente y el personal nunca respondió. Otro cliente llegó a este punto, había 5 de nosotros esperando órdenes, y se quejó de que su entrega había sido incorrecta y que no había podido contactarlos porque no contestaron el teléfono. Otro cliente dijo que había estado esperando 50 minutos por su pedido. Decidimos pedir un reembolso y volvimos a nuestro antiguo chino a 3 millas de distancia. El dueño se negó a salir de la cocina para ocuparse de las quejas, dejando a un nuevo miembro del personal para atender las quejas acaloradas. No es un gran servicio, NO volveré por una segunda oportunidad.

2 x £40 orders a month apart shocking service poor food quality and order wrong.... again, ring 2nd time women ends up hanging up on me , ring again guys takes order of missing items and wrong meals , drive back 3 miles again and sit another 20 minuted eventually walked out with a £16 refund but no apology again . They take too many orders continually and don’t know to not answer the phone or add 20 minutes to order ( I was asked to come in 1/2 hour did but still waited another 20 minutes again . Get your house in order and learn to say no

Worst chinise in York. First visit on recommendation but will not be visiting again. Grey chicken, multiple hairs in rice and curry sauce from a jar. Do not visit if you have taste buds

Absolutely terrible. Ordered a takeaway meal for family and waited an hour whilst other people were getting served before us and they continued to take more telephone orders and pushed us further down the queue. Won’t be going back, disgusted.

This is our local Chinese and we love it. Food never takes long to be cooked and is always full of loyal customers. I'd recommend the crispy shredded finer beef and the crispy duck rolls. Nom nom

Vientos calientes ha sido recomendado muchas veces pero que no habíamos probado hasta ahora como decepcionados con comida para llevar China en nuestra zona local de Haxby. La comida fue excelente, muy sabrosa, rápida entrega y muy buen precio. Sin duda nos Pida comida para llevar desde aquí de nuevo gracias.

Gran llevar puede llegar realmente ocupado, lo cual es comprensible en un fin de semana cuando todo el mundo tiene la misma idea.

Called and ordered which was pretty easy and then went to pick up, they only accept cash which is a little bit of a pain. When I got home the food was good portion sizes and tasty but was let down as I ordered crispy duck but they forgot the pancakes so had to drive all way back and try an prove it was them at fault and not me over the phone when driving back which ruined the meal which was tasty. Overall food great but service not so great... check your full order before leaving

Food is good and very fast service, always ready and waiting to collect when I order even though we live only 10mins away. Staff very friendly parking good too.

Hace poco nos hemos mudado a la zona y han luchado para encontrar un chino. Hemos intentado numerosas llevar desde las recomendaciones sólo para ser muy decepcionados, las comidas siempre sabían salada o sosa o la calidad de los ingredientes estaban justo debajo de la par con la mayoría de las comidas hasta terminar en la papelera. Nos tropezamos con un día mientras va Hotwinds para nuestra compra semanal y decidí probarlo la próxima vez, no nos decepcionó. La calidad de la comida es excelente, después de haber probado distintas comidas este siempre ha sido coherente. Las comidas han sido llenos de sabor y, sin duda, nada salado y el tamaño de la porción es muy buena. Sin duda recomendaría Hotwinds a cualquiera, ¡no vamos a ningún otro lugar para nuestro chino para llevar ahora.

We regularly get a takeaway from Hotwinds and we're never disappointed. The food is always tasty and the portions are large. Top recommendations are the salt and chilli chicken wings and the Singapore vermicelli. Best Chinese in York.

Just recently moved to the area and read previous review. decided to have a takeaway on christmas eve and really glad we did. the food was fantastic and plenty of it too. the prices were really good averaging about £5 ish. definately be going again soon.
