Hotel Restaurant Campanile Washington - Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in Sunderland

Room was faulted with damage. Bathroom sink splashback shelf was not secured. Window was hanging in there. Couldn't open it for fear it would fall out of the wall. Food was minimal and over cooked. Yuck Plug sockets either taped up or hanging on for dear life Hairdryer was damaged internally and externally. Do not use!! Double bed was just two single beds put together and made to look like a double. No lift just stairs so not suitable if you have mobility issues

I thought this was a good value budget hotel and very clean. Yes it is dated and could benefit from modernisation but it was perfectly adequate for me for two nights and the staff were so helpful. Breakfast and the food offering was epic and value for money. Quick question is room 209 haunted ??? TV turns itself on at random times :-)

Room was ok , bed was comfortable , only downside was TV didn't work properly couldn't watch all the channels

Currently staying here, on our way back to Scotland. This is a basic yet functional hotel. Well situated for exploring the surrounding area. Staff in general are friendly. They do allow dogs to stay in rooms. (If you have a dog with you there is a park 2 minutes walk away.) The restaurant has 1 table designated for those whose dog comes to breakfast (and can be given a cooked sausage.) I think the bathrooms could do with being updated. Certainly looks somewhat tired. Free WIFI is available in rooms. Beds are comfy enough. Overall it is reasonable value for money. Prepay breakfast is £10.75 per person. The Toby Carvery 2 minutes walk down the road does a bottomless breakfast for £6.99 per person.

Nice stay room ok could have done with a few touch ups on woodwork. Comfortable bed good nights sleep. Staff friendly and polite breakfast day 1 was excellent loads of choices and nice cooked full English second full English wasn’t as good a bit cold. But staff was so apologetic. Overall good stay handy for surrounding area would definitely go again

Very friendly, despite the language barrier, I don't speak English. The lady at the reception always helped me with a smile at the end. Very concerned about the safety and well-being of the guests . Any time again, thank you Bernd

Good hotel; great price and room was as described. Did not partake in the breakfast as for the price we preferred to bring our own. Easy check-in and check out with friendly service. Carpark was more than large enough. Bathroom included wall-mounted bodywash and soap, as well as small bottles. Excellent value for money; would stay again.

Staff were a joy to talk with and full of that luverly Northern welcome. The room was quite and of a standard you expect from Campanile. The bed could have been of a better quality, which would aid a better nights sleep. The paid Full English was exhalent, and the service was spot on.

The hotel is reasonable value for money, but they feel like a boarding school or old barracks converted into a hotel. The double beds are two singled pushed together, there are bright lights in the carpark outside the windows and the toilet roll is single ply. Overall it just feels overly cheap without much cheer.

Rooms with bathrooms, but have not seen renovation for a long time.

2nd time we've stayed here. Staff lovely and friendly, professional and down to earth. Beds comfortable, room exceptionally clean. Food very nice. No negatives whatsoever. This is our go to hotel in this area.

WATCH OUT! These robbers have given me and others a £100 fine just for using the Tesla Superchargers which are available to the public. You should not be hosting Tesla Superchargers if people can’t freely use them without signing into your Hotel. No other Tesla Superchargers are like this. I hope Tesla sue you.

Basic but functional and inexpensive. Ate and drank elsewhere out of personal preference place seemed fine.

All very nice apart from the coffee situation in the rooms. This could be better. Apart from that, tidy!

This facility is next to the Holiday Inn, and because of that we expected similar accommodation. The room was very small, basic amenities (in room coffee, tv, blow dryer,etc), no room service. The bathroom fan didn't work, so the room steamed up when we showered and NO AC to help with the humidity. We would open the window and prop the door open so steam could escape. Also, I want to know in what business plan does good customer service include antagonizing a customer's significant other? One of the female clerk/waitresses started a disturbing, unprofessional ongoing flirtation with my fiancé that included cold-shouldering me. On our last night before check out, we decided to have dinner elsewhere because their menu doesn't have much variety. The next morning I turned in the room keys to check us out. She followed me outside to have more "words" with my fiancé and he politely thanked her for her service as we left. If her boss actually has hopes of decent reviews, he might start by teaching better professionalism in his staff.

The staff at reception were friendly and there was plenty of parking available but the room was terrible. There was only one plug socket and the beds were extremely uncomfortable with springs poking through the mattresses.

Clean room staff very friendly and helpful we always stop here when we come up north the only problem was there was only one socket in room

20 minutes from Durham and Newcastle so was perfect for my budget friendly trip. I spent the day in Durham and night in Newcastle. The room was large but basic, good for sleeping only, in my opinion.

Basic but nice and clean accomodation with a bar.two pillows each as well ! Nice full English breakfast and very friendly staff

If coming here to use the Tesla superchargers, be wary that you will receive a parking ticket if you don't inform the hotel.

Although the room is basic the bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The shower was good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Although there was only two plug sockets they provided an extention. Good position with amenities and the A1 close by.

Does what it says on the tin. Not luxurious but everything is to hand. The only fault was that I couldn't get a cooked breakfast Xmas Eve.

Clean and comfortable. Rooms a bit basic and lack of power points but great value for a quick stay. Nice food in the bar attached and other options nearby. Always a very welcoming friendly service.
