Excellent food. One of the best in Sunderland.

Absolutely fabulous food I had deep fried chilli beef and the salt and pepper chip amazing

Ordered at 8:30pm and didn’t receive order till 10:15pm. We were made aware of an hours wait for delivery but not nearly 2 hours. When trying to ring the shop to see where the order was there was no answer, this was due to them being closed as we found this out when the delivery driver finally turned up with our order. The driver had 5 deliveries to make and ours was the 4th. The food was cold when it arrived due to the previous orders that had to be delivered before ours. We rang up the next day to complain and the lady said she could only apologise. Offered no replacement order, refund or discount on the next order. Will not be ordering from there again . Very disappointed as we never had any issue perviously.

Just the absolute best. Great family . But be prepared to wait. It's that popular 😁. We have been going here for years. Since it opened

Sorry I said I wouldn't share this review but nothing changes so here it is. Ordered a delivery meal atv7.20pm, house special chow mein, house curry, chips and rice. Total delivered £24.10, gave £25. It came an hour or more later. When we opened it it was cold. The curry was just a hot sauce with undercooked chunky onions and mainly thin dried out strips of beef, plus maybe 2 tiny squares of pork. Not good. The chow mein was dry, no sauce, noodles so overcooked they were too tough to cut up. There was one small chunk of chicken, a few small pieces of pork and 2 prawns. Don't forget what looked kike streaky overcooked spring onions. The chips were dry and smaller ones were very hard. I never opened the rice as most of the meal went into the bin. I've not had a takeaway for over 6 months as it is a luxury, being a retired pensioner. I certainly won't go back here. I rang to tell them this and the reaction was abysmal. An apology but nothing to say please come back, we'll make sure your next meal will be better, or even give me a discount. I'm done. No more takeout from here.

Great food ...very long wait though

First time trying this place after years of driving past it and hearing good things about it. Ordered house special curry and chips and was literally served within 10 mins staff polite and friendly. Curry was disappointing tho. Sauce was perfect and full of flavour but the meat element was very little and tiny pieces (and this is a personal preference) there was only a few slivers of onion and I do like chunks of onion where I normally go. Tasty sauce chips where good but everything else disappointing.

Been using good taste for 5 years, found the food to be the most tasteful out of the Chinese takeouts in the area, only 1 issue is the delivery times are shocking and food is never ready at time stated for collection

We ordered our food and was told it would arrive over an hour. Two hours later we received our meal, plated it and realised it was freezing and it tasted like cardboard. We rang and was met with vile attitude we put our food back in the boxes to take it back and get a refund. They told us that ‘I will observe it so we know you haven’t ate any of it’. The next day I had a family emergency and asked them to collect the food at my neighbours they asked ‘couldn’t you drop it off on the way to your family emergency?’. I told them I didn’t have a car and it was again an emergency. They laughed at the fact I didn’t have a car. Absolutely disgraceful

Gravy and chips in a small rice tray £3.90 ,absolute joke prices has shot up but the food isn't nearly as nice as it used to be

Only bought curry and chips in carton.£3.20 came in small rice carton, chips were horrible could not eat them, hard and brown. Phoned and was told that she is "aware how bad they are, but thats the way they sometimes come". No refund.Won't be going back.

Used to be one of the best takeaway places, ordered last night and it was absolutely terrible. The chips tasted like they were fried early, and then re-fried for order, either that or they desperately need to change their oil.

Ordered from here tonight for a Collection told to go up at 9 went up not ready said another 45 mins went back then still had to wait. Went home totally wrong order had to go back so in total nearly 4 1/2 hours to get my chinese absolute joke never use these again after this carry on

So pleased we came across "Good Taste Chinese Takeaway" I can't fault the food and polite service...although the delivery time was a little longer than I'd expected I was already forewarned whilst placing my order. My husband and I both agree we have discovered our new favourite Chinese Takeaway 🤗 Just to add, we ordered again and were informed that while paying for our previous order my husband had paid with new notes and instead of two ten pounds he had accidentally given three and they would take the ten pounds off the price...we had no idea we overpaid. Great service and honest staff.

Ordered from here tonight & they got my order wrong, I ordered sweet & sour chicken in sauce and when I got home I had sweet and sour chicken balls in my bag which may I just say I wouldn’t have complained if inside my chicken balls weren’t pink & soggy, we also got 1/4 duck, which is just lots of burnt fatty bits from a duck. Ah and it’s Not stopping their! We also ordered chrispy won tons well infact these have no meat inside and is just wonton Pastery fried! The owner of this Chinese never does anything when they get the order wrong as I have been told from others and found out for myself tonight how rude she is. At the end of the day yous made the mistake, yous should fix it. These are peoples treat meals yous are spoiling on a weekend please behave!! Their is so many 10/10 Chinese’s round here, don’t settle for the 01/10 one you’ll be disappointed. Greeedy woman owner.

Absolutely fresh and delicious food. Lucky dragon was excellent full of tasty meat, prawns and cashew nuts. Friendly and fast service. Fortune cookies were great fun and made us all laugh. Definitely recommend a visit.

In a friends curry a bloody fly of all things and don't be so uppity when people complain

Amazing... Best chinese gravy in town.... Salt n pepper chicken n salt n pepper chips r to die for... Chickenfried rice cant get any more in there cartons always bulging but plenty of chicken in it... Bit pricey but worth it x

Normally spot on but poor tonight as food was cold and then after ringing to complain told a load of rubbish about how it had just been cooked and put in a warm bag (must have been in the bag 2 hours flying around Sunderland) no intentions of sorting it out anyway.

Food is amazing but since new phone system is in can't get through on the phone, tried for 50 minutes and rang out three times.

Worst Chinese takeaway I've ever had by far. Basic, tasteless and very overpriced food. Will never be ordering from there again.

We decided not to go out and have a few drinks at home and get a Chinese can I just say it made our night ,yes it might have took a wee bit longer to arrive but was worth the wait the food was fantastic like it always is when I just order for two ,but on this occasion it was for six of us and the amount of food we got and the complimentary extras made the wait worth while can I just say a great BIG thank you to all of you from the lady who took our order ,to the cooks who cooked our meals and to the guy who delivered in perfect condition.

Loved it! This is my first choice Chinese. Only snag is that it's a long wait but 9 times outa 10...it's worth it.

Would have gave a 5 this is our regular Chinese but a while ago my partner got a bone in the gravy this put us off. Tonight back to being a regular again got a last delivery n same has happened tonight gravy is best in Sunderland apart from the bone being in it. It could of been a small child eating this please be careful next time as a child might not be so lucky

Had a takeaway from here last week as just got back off holiday I had crispy beef with rice and salt and pepper chips hubby had chicken curry we had to wait a while for it to be delivered but it was worth it absolutely delicious and plenty of it will definitely be back

I would give good taste 5 stars as we have always ate from here and food has always been outstanding. I have had to take one star off for the woman who answers the phone, she needs to realise she's not in the house where you can be slang and quite abrupt I think this woman must be losing this place some customers . Really sad actually that one person can have such a negative impact on a great business.

Ordered food at 20.30 with a friend recieved at 22.30 totally spoilt night too late to eat this time caused a terrible atmosphere over the bill which paid and just didn’t eat food so a waste of money absolutely disappointed with customer service as ordered from here a while so decided I will not be a returning customer due to distress caused 35.00 wasted

Although a Sunderland native, I have lived elsewhere since the mid 80's. Although I return to Sunderland 2 or 3 times a year to visit family - I have to say that generally it is the worst place in the country for Chinese food. Everywhere else, it is the norm to order a main dish, which consists of just that dish. You then order seperately what rice or noodles you want with it. I totally fail to understand this Sunderland obsession of including boiled rice or chips (what?? why???) in the price of the main course, or for extra you can have fried rice - except this is not egg fried rice like everywhere else just rice grains fried on their own! God forbid as is thenorm elsewhere you would want prawn fried rice, chicken fried rice, spring onion fried rice etc with your dish... if you do you end up with a huge triple sized portion, paying £7 odd for the privilege.... Anyway, in an attempt to find an acceptable take away in Sunderland we tried this one. Impressed that the menu included a reasonable selection of Chinese starters - the norm in Dover but not apparently in my experience in my home town. Won ton soup was OK - not the best I've had also not the worst but won tons themselves were very small. Deep fried crab claws - hard to go wrong with these they were OK. Sesame prawn toast - again acceptable, although the prawn topping was a liitle thin compared to what I am used to. King prawns in szechuan sauce - vegetables were a little undercooked for my taste, and sauce was definitely too vinegary. At least it was not the usual thick brown gloop I have experienced in other Sunderland establishments. Would have preferred a beef fried rice, Singapore fried rice or spring onon fried rice with it - but as realted above not feasible in Sunderland unless you want to waste a mountan of food. The fried rice option I chose was too dry as it was without egg. 3 stars because despite all this, this is probably the best Chinese take away I have yet discovered in Sunderland, although not a patch on the rest of the UK in my experience.

This is without a doubt the best tasting Chinese food in Sunderland. There is very little in it between this and the Fountain garden ( formerly of the Ming dynasty restaurant). Both offer superb Chinese cuisine, but in my opinion, the Good Taste just takes the prize. Both of these are very popular and as such both are extremely busy so to mark them down just because it took a long time for delivery is wrong, as you are told when calling that there is a delay. That said, I ordered from the fountain last week as Good Taste were on holiday and was told it would be ready in 1 hour. On arrival I almost got to the point of cancelling when after a further 45 mins I still had not received my order. I have never had that problem with the Good Taste. Having read reviews and visited most of the Chinese takeaway's around me i would suggest that the owners of these establishments, along with their clientele, visit either Good Taste or Fountain garden to discover what it is they are supposed to be serving and what it should taste like.

Ordered from here last week as couldn’t be bothered to cook I had crispy shredded beef with boiled rice hubby had prawn curry which had loads of giant prawns in didn’t wait too long and it was scrumptious will be ordering again

After spending close to £30 the order was delivered and we were missing a fried rice. Not really bothered it can easily be done on a big order so my dad politely called and let them know. Instead of apologising or trying to rectify the small issue we were instead interrogated as to how the food was wrapped and made out to be liars. On confronting them on their rudeness we were then again asked to explain how the food was wrapped which was very patronising and to be honest they need to concentrate on their food not how it's wrapped as the chicken was under cooked and eggs watery. I would not recommend this place at all I really don't think we would try our luck at a free fried rice when we've spent £30 already! Would never use again.

We recently moved to Ford area this Chinese is now just down the road from us. We used this Chinese on and of for about a year before we moved to Ford area. We use to Allways collect. The receptionist (girl on the phone is very rude, I often questioned if I had offended her in some way as she was often short when we went and ordered and short on the phone) the other week we decided to order and was told an hour for delivery even though this Chinese is less than 5 mins down the road. We waited over an hour 50 for food to come. It was cold. We then decided to phone order in and collect the following week. As soon as we did we were told over an hour to collect our food. This is ridicerlous iv never known an hour for food. Now we no longer use this Chinese due to the diabolical service of the women on the counter. And feeling like she has a problem with me. I would advice you not to use this place. Service has gone well down to what I remember.

It can be a long wait but that’s because it’s so popular, well worth the wait. Boyfriend LOVES it here

Had supper from here as a treat after being weighed and had crispy beef boiled rice and salt and pepper chips it was delicious and didn’t wait too long for it to be ready as we were starving the staff are lovely and very helpful

Woman serving got the order wrong it was only 2 x rice noodles and gravy the kids wanted she gave them rice and gravy when challenged she told them she read back the order and there was nothing she could do she would want another £10 to put it right. She took advantage of two young girls I came in from the car, she said she didn't say £10 and kept denying everything I wanted to know how it could be put right. I have had the very same problem with her myself. I suggested she sell me some noodles and gravy to go with the rice she took £3 and put the order of noodles at the back of the queue.waited 15mibs by which time the other stuff was cold nasty woman no concept of customer service

Tried to order a delivery but wouldn't deliver as its too far. I live 2.8 miles away at Penshaw, but you deliver to Ryhope. Where's the logic in that? The food gets 5 stars but common sense gets 0.

Ordered over the phone for delivery, no indication of wait or delay. Arrived after 1 hour and 30 mins and was not hot at all. Had to be re heated. Will not use again as this was my first visit.

We have been regular customers of this Chinese for over a year now. However on this occasion, part of the order was missing upon being delivered. We then called the shop to inform them - the staff were in no way apologetic and actually turned the whole situation on us and said we would "have to wait" we then called to ask if they could return the full order as we didn't want to eat separately. The manager said she would be annoyed if we had touched any of the meal. The curry sauce also tasted like up duck.

This is now our favourite chinese take away. The gravy is the best I have ever had and everything I order is always fab. Sometimes you do have to wait a long time as it gets very busy.
