Kylin Oriental Restaurant in Sunderland

Banquet meal for four persons ordered for delivery, what used to be a really nice Chinese was utterly poor for £80. Four dishes all bland and even the hot and sour soup which used to be amazing was just salty and no prawns or anything. Barely any prawn crackers between four yet ridiculous amounts of rice to fill you up as not much meat. Cut back and really tasteless, real shame as use to be a good restaurant and take away.

Popped in on the off chance. We have been a few times over the yrs. staff are always very friendly. Plenty of choice on the menu. We opted to eat from the happy hour menu, £13.95, excellent value for money. Chicken & sweet corn soup, prawn crackers Sharing platter- prawn toast, spring rolls, ribs & sea weed A choice of 2 mains( can be changed if you ask) & a sharing pot of rice We got some extras salt & pepper ribs & chips x2 Absolutely lovely. Well worth the money. Great restaurant

disappointed with everything, food, atmosphere and not a lot of oomph in the service, did not enjoy the food, dishes were served up cold and sauces were thick and gooey, dirty menus and your tables had a film of grease on them, not a lot of choice in coffee selection neither your restaurant was very cold and draughty and smelt of dampness 😒😒

I visited on a quiet evening in early January for a birthday meal. We had the happy hour banquet and the food was outstanding. Great value as well. Will definitely return!

How the mighty have fallen. Duck soup very fatty, soft shell crab greasy, crispy duck dry, lobster over cooked and barely edible. Always my "go to" for a special occasion but I'll never return.

A nice restaurant with attentive staff and good food. The burnt out telephone box outside ruins the atmosphere of the location.

Food & service good. Would suggest place needs a good bit of decorating/updating We got sat next to a rather dirty fish tank. Room was very cold, no central heating, only form of heating was 2 x calor gas heaters

Ordered takeaway in person at restaurant. Called to collect at the time they said, chaos! At least a further 10 minutes after originally being fobbed off with 'it'll be 2 minutes'

Been here before but not in a good while, greeted by a lovely gentleman who showed us to our seats near a very interesting fish in a tank. Food came out prompt, we had Salt and spicy ribs which were ok, the chicken spring rolls are the best, and the wings were nice. I had fillet steak in black pepper it was good. Fairly pricey bill but food was good so can't complain, would return in near future.

Not good, first time trying this place and last. tried the stir fried chicken with mushrooms, No seasoning at all, no salt/pepper, bland and more like a broth a few sliced carrots, tasteless onions and tasteless mushrooms, tasteless courgette an all round dishwater meal. Give it one star because no facility to give any less. Disgusting

I absolutely love this Chinese, it has a lovely traditional Chinese homely feel to it. The staff are as lovely as the food. Excellent choice. We ate off the £18.99 banquet, added noddles and salt & pepper chips to the main course. Absolutely lovely & bought plenty back with us. Washed down with a lovely bottle of house white wine

Kylin is one of my favourite places to eat Chinese type food. Good food, helpful friendly staff, and pleasant decor. All at a reasonable price. They do an excellent takeaway service too. We made good use of that during Covid restrictions!

Had a take away Saturday, firstly it was late, thats a few times now that we have had late deliveries. Quite dissapointed in food, we had quarter of crispy duck which was poor, the hoisin sauce to go on pancakes was just like water. Main course wasn't much better. Ive always highly rated the Kylin but lately the food has gone right back

After living in Washington for years it was nice to finally introduce my partner to the amazing food here. Fresh, Hot and authentic dishes served quickly and bursting with flavour. Staff were really friendly, helpful and accommodating when requesting alterations to the specified menu Good portion control. Miles better than youre average takeaway.

We found this gem of a restaurant on trip advisor. The food was excellent and the service really exceptional. We will definitely visit this one again next time we are staying in the North East. Great value for money .

Very warm welcome from an amazing team, fast and efficient service. Atmosphere was great, clean and stylish decor! Food was served hot and in good time full of flavour. Drinks were served refreshing and promptly replenished when empty. Offering both a dine in and takeaway option suitable for all variety of diner.

We found a local place to have Dim Sum and jasmine tea. The salt and chilli squid and prawns are delicious too. Its on our happy list of foodie places. Very friendly.

Booked for sons birthday during these times of restrictions. All four had a great time even though it was the quietest I’ve seen the restaurant.Food and service does not disappoint and on the list to do again. Nice touch with a surprise cake and round of happy birthday which was unscripted.

Best oriental food in Washington! Great for veggies/vegans, absolutely love having a choice of tasty vegan chicken/duck!! Staff are lovely - Always take great care of us and make us laugh! Reasonably priced. Well worth a visit!

Food is always delicious, but I'm sorry I've had to phone up 2 hours after ordering for home delivery to be told it will be another 40 minutes!! The lady had an attitude and told me it's quicker to pick up... I don't drive or I would of done That! They were slow last time I was in Dining with them it was almost 40 mins inbetween dishes Got a feeling its going to be after 9pm after ordering at 6:20pm. Certainly not a service to recommend!

We have been coming to the Kylin Oriental for years, since it first opened and have never had a bad meal or experience. Lovely food, really nice people. Very lucky to have these on our doorstep 5 stars from us.

Flippin love this place. Lovely warm, friendly atmosphere, pleasant surroundings and fantastic, fantastic good. Been going here for years, easily as good as the big hitters in China Town, but on our doorstep. Brilliant and highly recommended

Arrived at 6:30 and only one member of staff on the whole night serving 10+ tables and seemed like the takeaway was the priority. We requested a table for 12 and were promised one round table at the back, upon arrival we had a round table for 8 and a small table for 4 on the end, not very good for a 60th birthday. No balloon as promised either. Mains took over two hours to come out, and at £23 a head we thought it was all just really shoddy service. We could see a lot of other tables were displeased too. Over £300 bill for awful service, certainly will never book again for a special birthday.

Went with family on the eat out to help out on Monday. Very well organised, staff were lovely and food was great. Had shredded duck with pancakes for starter and schezuan sizzling beef for main. Portions really good size and food very clean

Decided to try this restaurant after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. The lady who served us was very welcoming and pleasant. We went for the three course Sunday Special and it was fantastic! Choice of soup, followed by shredded duck with pancakes, your choice of main course then tea or coffe. The service was prompt and the food was very tasty and piping hot. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely return.

This little Chinese never fails to impress with food and customer service.We come here once a month and travel a good 15 mile to come but is worth the travel, the starters came out piping hot and the chicken spring rolls are the best, the salt and spicy ribs and very yummy, my partner had veg spring rolls and she enjoyed them.The kids had chow mein and chicken balls, then for mains I had fillet steak in black pepper which was nice and my partner had salt and chilli chicken which was equally nice.The staff were freundly with us and the kids and will always return.

Saw an advert in a new local magazine for a two course special around £8:50 per head, so decided to give it ago. Pleasant decor, only around three tables occupied, three of us ordered from the special menu. Food was very good and the service was also very good. They do a take away menu as well, that side looked quite busy.Would definitely go back.

I was visiting Washington for the week with some work colleagues and we were recommended this restaurant. When we pulled up we almost didn’t go in as we thought we had the wrong place. It does not look like what you would expect with the amazing reviews.I am so pleased we took a chance. The interior of the restaurant is lovely, the food was very tasty and the staff were very helpful even though we were very needy as a group as we needed to have the bill split individually. Nothing was an issue. I opted for the early set menu 5.30 - 7.00pm which is only £12.50 pp.We had soup followed by mixed starters and lots of different mains. Everything was very tasty and excellent value for money.Hope to visit again on my next trip up north.
