Best Chinese in Sunderland and always has been

Over last six months have cut back on takeaways, Except East garden it's one you can never do without. Never had a bad meal in all the years of going.

Now the oldest Chinese Restaurant on Sea Rd, and the only one which accepts contactless card payment - a good bonus from me because I prefer to pay by card. 👍🏼

Terrible food one of the worst I’ve had. It was that bad I took it back and got a refund, I’ve never done that before in my life

Had a nice meal here last night first trying it out and it was fantastic will be back ordering from here again the chips were beautiful and the curry sauce was spicy well worth the money like really enjoyed it

Just had King prawn curry ,chips and egg fried rice. And chicken chow mein. Forgot how great there food is. Thank you Jane & Jimmy

Food is heavily laden with salt, and the noodles are soaked in soy sauce. After eating I drank about one and a half litres of juice. Prices are extortionate. One chicken friend rice is about £8 as well as the chicken, chow mein noodles. I could make more myself for £3 from asda. Chips are double the price and half the portion you would get from a fish & chip shop. For my order, I could have bought seven packets of sirloin beef steaks. I did enjoy the chicken fried rice, and the chicken was very nice in the chow mein, but the amount of Sodium (Salt) was a bit worrying health wise.

Consistently brilliant. Wish they would bring the salt and pepper wings back but, everything I have ordered so far is amazing

I usually get the Singapore Special chowmien. Everytime without fail iit is 10/10. Lots of flavour and spicy. Other meals from here are great to, highly recommend

Really poor and expensive gloop. Curry sauce is floating in grease. All went in the bin!

Charged £15 for a meal that was only £9.50. Probably thought I was drunk and an east target to be ripped off. Will not be going again and would have been a zero if that was an option. Check your change folks !

Well after not been here for 2 years due to leaving area I rang up to see if would deliver to me in South shields paid extra for delivery they accommodated and food was as good as I remember hands down best Chinese take out in the land love the place and made up I can get delivered to me

Fast and quick delivery but sadly the house special chow mein I had was disgusting, as was the gravy. Left me with an upset stomach.

I absolutely love the food from here it's the best in Sunderland in my opinion. The only problem is waiting to place the order. It takes me anywhere between 10 minutes to an hour. I just wish there was something to make ordering easier otherwise it would be 5 stars

Used these a couple of times and enjoyed their food all be it a bit pricey, not sure if that's just the food of the fact you are totally starving by the time you manage to get through to them after constantly trying for over 2 hours of hearing an engaged tone. Great food but really need to sort out your phones as getting through is impossible, so much so we ended up going elsewhere last time.

Just had chicken chow mein and egg fried rice. I waited just over an hour and a half for delivery, make sure you order when it opens or be prepared to wait a while as it's extremely popular, which says it all. Big chunks of tender chicken in a big portion of noodles, mixed together with the egg fried rice is amazing. Food was hot and fresh. I couldn't eat it all and I'm a pretty big eater. I would definitely recommend this place.

Best Chinese in sunderland. Anything Singapore style is unreal.

Just returned to the area and its as good as I remember and reasonable, they now do delivery which is a added bonus

Waited 1hr 20 for food to be delivered and when arrived the king prawn chow mein was absolutely like mush. Prawns tiny over cooked and It was disgusting chucked straight in the bin. Curry sauce on wife’s chicken curry stodgy and feel robbed of 18 quid. Horrible does not even come close. Prawn crackers were ok so dining on them it seems...

Usually go to liking on sea road and tried here as they were closed. Last time I have a Chinese on Monday.. The sauces were nice however chicken balls were very dry seems like they were 're heated from yesterday. Prawn crackers where nice.. Don't think will ever return. It's a shame this used to be nice but stopped going a while back as went downhill and doesn't seem like it's got any better.

Lovely local chinese takeaway. Always great service just annoying when you can't get an engaged tone on the phone because they are sooo popular. Always make the effort to drive there to order and collect as it doesn't take long. Great food, regular customers.

Seriously wouldn’t eat from here again. Last time we ate here over a year ago it was shocking and thought I’d give it another chance. Ordered curry rice and chips in a carton, and how they managed to get that wrong is beyond me. Chips were stale, rice wasn’t even warm and all clumped together tasted like eating a day old fried rice from the night before and there was mushroom in my curry sauce. Staff aren’t friendly either. Would give it a 0 if I could.

Great curry, been going here for years

Regularly get takeaways from here and have never had a bad one yet. Always fresh and hot even when delivered. Can take a while to get through on the phone but that is simply due to its popularity. Prices are reasonable and food fantastic.

Decided to call in here for a takeaway last night at 8.15. After ordering we waited and waited- listening to staff on phone taking orders for home delivery he was saying 25-40mins. At 9.10 we finally got our order- we live 5 mins away so food should still be hot it was lukewarm and we had to heat it up. The food was lovely as usual but waiting time ridiculous - if we had been told it would be this long would have gone elsewhere. Or maybe if we had requested delivery we would have got food quicker and hotter.

Food always good. Service very slow. Waited about 55 minutes tonight in takeaway- not good. It appears waiting for 1 item in order was the delay meanwhile rest of order was already bagged up so had to be reheated when got home.

Horrendous. Starter and both mains were so salty it was sickening. We complained and got offered a free replacement, kind enough but both myself and the wife were left feeling sickened with no intent to eat anything after that. Will be avoided this place with extreme prejudice.

Great food worth driving ten miles. However, the staff could be friendlier and the shop is desperate for an update

Always order from here. Everything's always piping hot and delicious. Good amounts in portions and fast service with good prices. Love it

Absolute crap, had a delivery of curry which was quick but it was only Luke warm, prawns were tiny and chewy onions were tiny and stale

Always use East Garden and they have always been excellent! Very popular though so it's not always easy to get through with a phone order but well worth the wait!

A warm welcome from counter staff. Great food served quite quickly. Tasty and good portion size. A main course with rice and chips served two of us with a little left over.

Just had a take out from the East Garden and once again it was excellent. For a change it wasn't for two of us, it was for the family and catered for 7 adults and 3 children. Never been let down by this place, if they do get an order wrong then it's compensated. It's a very popular takeaway and normally it can take a while to ring an order through. We travel over 5 miles to collect our order passing numerous Chinese take outs on the way, that's how highly we rate this place. Keep up the good work!

Been getting my Chinese Takeaway's from here for a very long time, never seems to disappoint. Get on really well with Jimmy and always receive great customer service. Lovely food, compliments your Saturday night TV well!

It's an OK Chinese takeaway although I would definitely recommend the sweet and sour chicken

Family ran Chinese takeaway a very reasonable priced menu and a wide choice of dishes on the menu . Staff are very friendly and willing to help. It does not deliver but it's at the top of my street. Food is of a good to high standard

Never go anywhere else. Always go to East Garden, it's so local and the food is always lovely. Actually known by name now we've been that many times.

Quick, affordable and moreish food!! Visit here and you won't be disappointed!!!! Make sure you get some prawn crackers, they are delish! Don't have much to say because it's always been spot on! Curry sauce is a littke bit spicy !!!

Had a variety of food from this takeaway about a month ago and it seemed promising, so bought sweet and sour chicken. I rarely leave bad reviews but felt compelled on this occasion. The "chicken" tasted old and was deep fried in batter, although the batter was uncooked inside and the contents of the ball resembled a chicken soup. I wont take a risk again. I still feel sick at the thought of this 14 hours later. I also had some deep fried wan tons which again were tasteless and very greasy. Sorry East Garden
