Hotel Chocolat in Cambridge

I first went to this little cafe a few weeks back with my mother, who is a great fan of hot chocolate. There was a fantastic range of hot chocolates on offer (i.e. diff percentages of chocolate) - my mother opted for the 70% one with chocolate mousse topping. She said it was fantastic. I opted for a 'Flat white' and we both had a cake. The coffee was also very good, as were the cakes and with my 20% discount Hotel Chcolate VIP card, it was all very reasonably priced. I have dropped in since for a quick coffee, whilst shopping. My only criticisms would be are that it is a bit dark and maybe a bit claustrophobic,but that's probably just me as I prefer to be in a room with windows, although I appreciate of course that you are short of space having the actual chocolate shop in the same premises. Personally, I would also prefer there not to be music in the background and I also like any hot drink served in a china/pottery mug rather than a glass, as is the case whenever I have bought a Flat White. Otherwise though, the staff have always been really friendly and welcoming and polite. I will certainly continue to go here for a 'quick' coffee, but, in my opinion, it's probably not the ideal place for a longer 'catch up', more leisurely coffee with friends.

I came to purchase a gift to say thank you, and was a bit unsure of what to buy. The team member Molly was absolutely fantastic in talking me through all the different chocolate collections and further options, as well as recommending pairings for the boxes I bought. It was a pleasure shopping at Hotel Chocolat in Cambridge and Molly did them credit.

Prices has gone up but service has gone done. Staff unsatisfactory. Not well train. Tables dirty. No idea about customer service. They take the job for granted.

Visited for coffee and chocolate cookies 🍪 nice coffee and cookies. Did not feel the staff where too interested in us. Served and said wait over there for your order. A smile would have been nice ! No good byes ! As we where the only people in there as it had just opened for the day. Nice shop and we do buy from here the chocolate 😊

It’s dangerous having this place so close to where I live! We got a velvetiser at Christmas time so regularly visit to purchase hot chocolate. Their sale section is fantastic! We often get some brilliant bargains on things that are near their expiry date. They have a lovely little cafe too with discounts for VIP members. Definitely recommend a visit!

I'd highly recommend the 'ice cream of the gods' - very unique flavour that I haven't found elsewhere and comes with a chocolate shard! It's delicious, not too sweet and a similar price to other high street ice cream shops.

Lovely pit-stop at Hotel Chocolat today for hot chocolates and snacks. Incredible hot chocolate and very friendly staff! Would highly recommend and will be visiting again in the future.

Me and my girlfriend popped into the store before Christmas to get a takeaway hot chocolate - something we had wanted to do for some time. I had the Christmas ginger hot chocolate, which was absolutely fantastic. We both had the regular size cup which was more than enough, especially with the big dollop of chocolate mousse and cream they put on top. Overall, a great experience. Staff were polite and helpful, wearing proper and correct PPE and the store supplied hand sanitiser to customers. Will definitely return.

I paid £3.50 for a salted caramel shake with cream, I don’t know if it was because of the end of the day but there was no flavour, just a cup full of cream. A waste of 3.50.

We queued for 20 minutes for the privilege of drinking an average hot chocolate. Dirty tables. A very poor experience.

Having looked on line for the wedding hearts I wanted the site showed in stock, As a double check I rang and told in stock. On arriving at the shop I was told none at the shop. And there was some on the delivery, which arrived while I was there. On checking the staff said nothing there and not on the list, and they were unable to tell me when any would be there. Very poor ,having checked twice to make sure and staff not able to say why . Very dissatisfied.

I have been wanting to try a Hotel Chocolat Cafe Hot Chocolate for sometime now. Oh my Goodness I wasn’t disappointed best Hot Chocolate I have ever had. The thick chocolate cream on top was Delicious I shall definitely be returning

If you love chocolate you'll love this place. Fortunately I love chocolate and this place was right up my street. I was tempted by the chilli but went for the mint - make sure you have the cocoa foam!

Delicious chocolate brownie and amazing chocolate milkshake. Lovely little shop. Fabulous staff and customer service. Clean and spacious loo.

Decided to try a dark chocolate and hazelnut hot drink. I was a little unsure if it would be too rich at first. However it was absolutely amazing with a nice balance of hazelnut and dark chocolate and what was really good was because I cannot have milk I was able to have it with oat milk instead. I think a regular size is just enough for dark chocolate too. Also you can add cream to the top if you want, I just could not have because I am lactose intolerant. My boyfriend also really enjoyed the cappuccino as well. Hope to visit again, but maybe if one opens in Kent somewhere I take my mum to try one. Thank you for an amazing treat.

Nice selection if drinks and well made. Hot enough and a good strength. Service was ok but would expect better knowledge of the drink options.

Very well presented, very interesting, a great way to spend a couple of hours, excellent chocolate and making your own chocolate is great fun; highly recommended!

El chocolate es excelente y el chocolate con leche era alucinante y mi esposa también disfrutó el choc latte blanco.Nos decepcionó porque la tienda estaba sucia, los artículos no estaban completamente surtidos y algunos sitios estaban vacíos. El personal fue amable, pero no parecía tener conocimiento de los sabores que ofrecían ni de los detalles de algunas de las opciones de mayor categoría.La sección de la cafetería estaba fuera de todos los brownies y parecía que un tornado había golpeado. Estaban ocupados, pero no parecía que nadie estuviera haciendo un esfuerzo por limpiar a medida que avanzaban.

El chocolate para beber es increíble. También desea la crema batida, pero pídales que la pongan en una taza separada. La crema batida es increíble porque es más como una mousse. Yum ! ! ¡Entonces asegúrate de recoger una caja de chocolate porque bueno, por qué no! ¡Es asombroso! ! ! ¡Disfrutar! !

Came here on a weekday morning with a friend. The waitress was very tolerant of our indecision and what we eventually went for was lovely. We were also offered free samples of chocolate. This place does some of the best hot chocolate in Cambridge.

I'm slightly puzzled by the reviews here which say that Hotel Chocolat is average - it certainly isn't that.

Chocolate drinks where OK although staff could be more helpful and better explain the different types of hot chocolate drinks. There are a few seats in the shop but the tables where not clean. Needs improvement.

Had the best hot chocolate ever! try the winter spiced chocolate, it's really special. My good lady had the salted Caramel and Clementine, that was very good too!

Finally made it to the Hotel Chocolat factory shop in Huntingdon. Surprised it was so small but they do say the best things are wrapped up in small parcels. Jackie the store manager is really friendly, knowledgeable and super helpful and there were lots of bargains to be had although she did say there would be more available if it wasn't approaching Christmas. (worth knowing)

The hot chocolate in this shop is the best in Cambridge. The staff is friendly and always ready to explain the difference from the different kind of chocolate. The sofa and the atmosphere is relaxing and represent a good stop from shopping

Small seating area to enjoy a hot chocolate but boy are they worth it. Pre packeted brownies are also available. Would be great if this place was bigger with more variety to have to eat. I felt pretty sick after my drink AND brownie, but this was purely greed on my behalf! Reasonable priced and friendly staff.

Als je van echte chocolademelk houdt, dan raad ik deze plek aan. Mijn zoon had de chocoladekoffie latte en vond de chocolade hierin te overheersend. Het ijs met hazelnootcaramel was ook heerlijk. Ze hebben ook een vestiging in het centrum van Bury St Edmunds waar we ook zijn geweest.

I am not a great fan of chocolate, but the classic chocolate drink provided at Hotel Chocolat was an absolute treat.

Lovely chocolate coffee, worth a visit to experience a different type of latte. Wouldn't over indulge with cakes etc as the coffee was very rich and indulgent. Seating not ideal for wheelchair users. Very high seating or very low seating which is frustrating however there is a accessible toilet

The look of the latte and hot chocolate were great but something 'additional something' was in the drink. It was a sickly sweet which was unfortunate as we anticipated something special and spoke of the competition this place will provide against other chains, but alas it was not the case. Nice seating area though. A bit pricey.

Really delicious hot chocolate but very rich! The cream is delicious and the staff are absolutely lovely.

Chill out in the rear having a nice hot choc, tried the caramel and it was delish, staff are very helpful any questions just ask, always pleasant.

We journeyed into town specifically for the hot chocolate, which is superb if you order it with whipped cream - be sure to sprinkle with lots of cocco nibs.

My daughter and I both had a milky hot chocolate with chocolate whipped cream - one word - delicious. Bought some lovely treats too - you can always rely on Hotel Chocolat for top quality chocolates.

This was certainly a treat. The chocolate latte my son had, topped with chocokate whipped cream was a real treat. I had the teaolat, ginger which was also very good. Quite cramped seating and very busy but highly recommend for a treat!

If you like chocolate, you'll love this. The most amazing hot chocolate with chocolate cream is a chocoholics dream, especially with a choice of chocolate nibs you can sprinkle on liberally. Only criticism is it could have been cleaner - in particular the floors.

Worth buying shares in this company as it will take off. Great chocolate drinks and spoil yourself with chocolate cream topping. Now they have a loyalty card system so after a few visits you get a freeby for your efforts, friendly and helpful staff a great little place to chill out.

Very strong Hot Chocolate. Tasted like it was made from high Cocoa solid chocolate. You could taste the chocolate just by smelling the drink. Made my coffee seem almost tasteless. Not a lot of seats, and as seems to be expected in Cambridge expensive. A Hot Choc and Latte was £6.70 so now I need a bandage for my wallet.

Great hot chocolates go for the large hazelnut with cream mmm. There's also a wide selection of chocolate products which make perfect treats. There is a cosy seating area at the back of the shop and free wifi.

We specifically made a trip this cafe for a gingerbread hot chocolate with chocolate cream. Friendly staff greeted us and served a freshly made hot chocolate. My husband commented to me on how small the cup is, I agreed with this and how the cream sank into the drink by the time we got to our seat. We would not have spent much time in the cafe as the seats were not that comfy and our drinks were not very hot. Shame, because we love their chocolates.

We stopped off here in the afternoon looking to buy some chocolate treats for Christmas and also discovered they have a little cafe at the back of the shop which was a nice surprise. We decided to look around the shop first and were greeted by a friendly chap offering us a free mince pie flavour chocolate. Wasn't sure at first as I hate mince pies however I've never been one to turn down a free chocolate! It actually tasted really yummy so in went a packet of those in my basket. They have so much to choose from, from little diddy pots of chocolate to large selection boxes, there is something for everyone here. After buying nearly half the shop we went to the cafe and ordered two hot chocolates with chocolate flavoured cream and sprinkles on top. The seating area is very comfortable and cosy, perfect for taking the weight off your feet for a while and the hot chocolates were delicious! The staff were very happy and friendly, they seemed to really love being there. Will defiantly return on our next visit to Cambridge.
