I had a great experience the food was fresh and delicious 😋

My wife and son visited for a special treat. Paid for 17 peice sushi platter, but only got 15. Bill also automatically included service charge without asking to add it. The food was okay, but too expensive for the quality.

***We had such a mixed experience at Hoshiya - hopefully things improve in the way of service and conduct. There was 7 of us and we were old friends catching up after several years of not seeing each other - however the meal was made awkward by the manager/owner who hovered around us and shushed us audibly in front of other customers without being very subtle about it / ie. very loudly and dramatically. We would've been happy to keep our voices down to be respectful to other customers but noticed other big groups (10+) in the restaurant who were also being quite loud with lots of drinks didn't get the same treatment. The only conclusion we could draw was that the owner didn't like us speaking in a language that wasn't english as that was the only difference between our groups. It was disappointing and uncomfortable to experience this at a restaurant which serves food that is culturally diverse. Food wise everything was good , definitely would be hard to beat in Woking as korean cuisine options are very limited and the items we had tasted authentic and well prepared.

The Korean food taste is not bad so it’s too small portion and the lady is rude

What an amazing place! I had seen it but never tried until a friend visited from abroad and we decided to grab something in town. I was amazed by the quality of the food. Really delicious. Also the service was great. I will certainly be visiting again!!!

Wonderful place and food are so yummy.

We came here the 3rd time and the food is always fresh and super tasty. Definitely one of the best sushi we had. Also we can't understand some other negative reviews regarding the Service. The staff is always very friendly and we like the calming atmosphere.

A new location but no changes to the quality food they provide! Our favourite dishes are sushi and variety of soup - both best in the region by far !

It’s our first time there and also our last time. Food is okay, but nothing spectacular. Service is none, apart from bring in the food, no communication at all during the meal, but still charge you service charge. I walked in with my daughter and had a bottle of water in hand, after we sat down literally the first greeting from the waitress was you can’t bring drink in, you need to put your drink in your bag. It gave you the feel that I was trying to take an advantage of my drink. This was happened when I about to order the drink. I wish the business good luck!

A Korean restaurant in Woking that also serves Japanese sushi. The restaurant has a modern and clean design, and the presentation and taste of the food are also good.

Easily one of my favourite restaurants, the bbq platters are such a lovely experience for an evening meal. Can’t get enough of this place , service and staff is always really welcoming. A must go to if you live in the area

Food is amazing and a great find. Korean and Japanese. The Bento boxes are great Only negative is you have to spend a minimum of £20 to put on a card. That needs to be checked in case I have that wrong, but the food is stunning

I recently had a delightful experience dining in here. The California rolls and spicy tuna rolls were delicious, accompanied by perfectly cooked edamame and flavorful vegetable gyoza for appetizers. The service was impressively quick, and the servers were friendly, making the overall dining experience truly enjoyable. Highly recommend for a satisfying meal with top-notch service!

The best Japanese food ive ever tried in UK..

The food was really nice, but I felt a bit rushed as the waitress put all the meat on the BBQ in one go. I would have preferred eating one thing at the time, and not having stuff overcooked. I would still recommend it, but maybe cook yourself the food, which should be part of the experience anyway.

This was a family visit while staying at the Hilton Doubletree round the corner. Really nice food, friendly staff, great range of food options too. We had a lovely time with our two kids (5 and 8). Reasonable prices for the food you get. Only reason not 5 stars is because of the 10% service charge added to the bill. We probably would have given a higher tip, had the service not been included. But overall we'd recommend a visit and would definitely come back if we are in the area again. (The kids asked if we could come back, only problem is we live about 250 miles away!)

Some of the best Korean and Japanese food you can get in the area! The food is always very fresh and oozing with flavour, and the service staff are incredibly friendly. My wife and I have been massive fans since they were located in West Byfleet and great to see them at their new Woking location.

Nice restaurant, clean and tidy. Lovely table service. As per food Salmon and avocado roll is fresh and really delicious 5 stars from my side. For the main course which was Salmon Teriyaki even it was a pleasant dish I would give it a 4 stars as I felt the ingredients didn't mingle really well together.

For Korea food, it’s not bad. But it’s not good enough for me to return or recommend friends.

Very fresh sushi and sashimi. I was looking for a good quality restaurant near to Woking serving sashimi and sushi and one has finally come to Woking. Highly recommended restaurant! The teriyaki salmon bento set (142) and the sushi/sashimi bento set (137) were amazing. Will definitely be returning to this restaurant. Great service, and very welcoming.

We won't come anymore, this is our most favourite restaurant in Woking except the Hong Kong waiter lady, she is rude and hypocritical, I usually saw her in weekends. She made me feel very uncomfortable when she showed her strict and strong attitude to let my boyfriend put his water bottle in the chair, I can understand this is the restaurant industry rule, but we never refuse to order drinks, and this water bottle is used to have medicine tablets for my boyfriend, he is not feeling well. I hate her, feel shame for her. Why Chinese people are always so unfriendly to Chinese people?

Some of the best sushi we have ever had. Reasonable prices and very friendly/efficient service. Very pleased to have this place open so close to us in Woking and we look forward to returning soon!

Nice food and clean and decent environment. The only funny thing I didn't like is that they put 10% service surcharge on the bill and force you to pay that tip even if it's just two of you, not a large group. Not sure it's legal to force customer to pay a tip regardless of anything else.

love this restaurant. I used to go to the one in West Byfleet, but now they have opened right on my doorstep! The food never disappoints, the service is quick and the staff are extremely polite, attentive and friendly. Reasonably priced too :)

Recently opened in Woking. Surprisingly good for somewhere local. Wasn't expecting much but it actually tasted pretty good. Had sushi - salmon was fresh. The BBQ meat was tender and tasty. ( La galbi and the pork squid bulgogi). A little on the expensive side but I will definitely go back.

I had Korean BBQ and the meat was nice and fresh. Other dishes were very tasty. The staff were very friendly. They also had sushi and I would definitely go again. Great experience, definitely recommend!

First of all, the sushi's overall quality is satisfactory, although as an Asian I can tell that the chef used the remaining portion of tuna to create nigiri, despite it being fresh. Secondly, two pieces of sashimi were unexpectedly chewy, which is not expected from a restaurant of this caliber. Thirdly, they need more training since they don't know how to cooperate with each other.

Terrible service attitude, and the food is hard to eat. If you want to waste your money, please go to this restaurant.

We love this restaurant!! The food is always amazing and the staff are really friendly! One thing I think they could improve on a little is the décor. Overall it's beautifully done, but, if you sit in the back corner, you're facing a black wall with no decorations. It just feels a bit dark, especially as the rest of the restaurant is lovely. We went this week for our anniversary and were a bit disappointed that they had no sushi available at all, especially as this is the main reason my husband wanted to go there. However, we decided to have the Korean BBQ and a few other bits and pieces, all of which were as delicious as ever! I would definitely recommend this restaurant but, in future, I will be calling to check the sushi situation before booking 😁

Completely delicious food. Had the Korean BBQ Set 2 and it was really good. The cooked onions at the end were amazing. Will happily go again. Prices are reasonable. Service was excellent.

I would rate this zero star if I could. Ordered a delivery and the food was horrible, bland and just tasted of water. We ordered the tiger roll. Tasted dry and of nothing. No flavour at all. We ordered udon noodles - again, just tasted of boiled water We ordered chicken katsu, and again, nothing. The katsu curry tatsed watered down and the panko covered chicken was just panko. Hardly any chicken inside. Best part was the ginger and wasabi which came with the tiger roll. Although they are the only two products not made by the restaurant so probably that's why. Oh and we are not ill incase anyone is wondering. We can taste everything else, except the food from this restaurant. Defo avoid this place.

I am sure this is the best restaurant in London. I’ve been there more than 5 times with my family because of amazing sushi and traditional korean food! In addition, the staffs were always kind and welcoming us Highly recommended👍

Great food served by lovely people, a bit chaotic at times but adds to the charm of this lovely place. Highly recommend it.

The lady in charge was very rude, came across very frustrated when we had a couple of questions. Food also came out very slowly maybe, although this may have been because we arrived 20 minutes early. The korean bbq wasn't true korean bbq as it was cooked in the kitchen, even though we asked if we could have it at the table. The sushi was actually decent. Best thing was the aggressive reaction when we didn't feel like paying the "discretionary" service charge. Looking at the images it looks like there is the korean bbq at the table, so they chose not to offer it us. Restaurants should realise if the choose not to provide good service they don't deserve a tip.

Don't judge a book by its cover. The street view does have you wonder what type of establishment it is. The restaurant is below street level, and what a hidden gem! The food is amazing. The owner is very kind and accommodating. The waitresses are sweet and friendly. The food is delicious. Best sushi I've had. The ambience is actually lovely. Soft music and clean decor. Have loved every visit. And we have visited a lot.

The food was great! But…the menu is not very detailed with ingredients in each meal so be sure to ask the staff what is exactly in each dish. Also the staff doesn’t speak good English but they are friendly and very accommodating. Will definitely visit again

As you step into Hoshiya's entrance downstairs, you feel like you are entering another world. The ambience is intimate and cosy. One could feel like you are in a small Japanese restaurant in Japan somewhere. Our family typically order agedashi tofu as a starter, ramen noodles, special bento (sushi/sashimi) set, and duck katsu curry mains. Sushi set is decent and authentic, the salmon and tuna were very fresh. Presentation could be more refined but is authentic. Pork ramen was delicious. The katsu curry portions are ample and duck meat fried crisply. In our latest repeat visit, we tried the beef hot pot, which is fantastic on a cold winter's night. Overall, the food is consistently great and service is jovial.

Ordered sea food dish but only got mussels and two tiny pieces of calamari.....tasty but disappoinimg. Beware the 16,% service charge included in the bill.

Pretty tasty food, three stars for that. But not such friendly staff. That is very ruinous for me. The experience was not pleasant. Not nice to my baby either. Next time I'll eat somewhere else...

Food was amazing. Atmosphere was equally as amazing. Honestly one of the places I'm really glad survived the hardships of COVID. Had friends staying round and decided to go here. They loved the amount of choice that was available. Price wise it isn't what one would call cheap, but definitely feels worth the price. Will be looking to go again before 2023

Delicious Korean and Japanese food. I have tried their BBQ set, pajeon, sushi set, etc. They were all tasty! The lady (I think she is the owner) was polite. The only disappointment was their BBQ set was ready-to-eat - that means you can’t enjoy Korean barbecue by yourself.

We really enjoyed sushi and sashimi. One of the highest quality I've tasted around, London included. The lady she's really friendly and quick. The restaurant is accessible by stairs because is located in the basament.

We had sushi only and it was all amazing. The service was excellent and food came out very quickly. Would go again when I’m next here!

That one star is only because my friend liked the smell of the hand sanitizer. Lol. The food was supposed to be okay but we didnt enjoy it because the staff are rude to us. I don’t know why but when we came in, the lady seemed so surprise and was not very welcoming. She even rolled her eyes several times while taking our orders coz we changed our mind about one dish. She only smiled at us during pay time. lol. Maybe she was tired or i dont know, but she shouldn’t take it on us.

I don't know who the boss was, but he treated the part-time workers poorly, the service wasn't very good, and he didn't listen to anything. If you want your business to last long, don't treat your part-time workers poorly, and listen carefully to any requests from customers. The food is delicious, but it's not everything.

Incredible food, well priced, lovely staff. The kimchi starter was fresh and tasty. (Ask them if you prefer yours more aged/fermented/sour.) Their sushi was also delicious. And their beef dishes went down a treat. Everyone at our table was delighted.

This can be one of the best place to try both Korean and Japanese food. Sushi and sashimi are so fresh that you hardly get anywhere in any other restaurants. Food from the kitchen is also delicious. The quality of the food can't be negotiable and the price is reasonable. Highly recommended to anyone like raw fish and are new to Korean food. I can't stop loving it!

The owner is nice and friendly. There are many types of sushi rolls, tempura, and the food is plentiful. Especially the galbitang and beef stew are really delicious. It's a business trip and it's great to have a delicious restaurant.

One of our absolute favourite restaurants in the area. Completely fresh, authentic Korean/Japanese food - spot on flavours. Sushi is professional, delicious. Try the agadashi tofu, gyoza, chicken Kkanpunggi, bibimbap, and all the sushi. Service is always lovely. Good value too.

Great find. 2nd visit in 6 weeks and will return indefinitely alone and with others. - Sushi / Sashimi is as good if not better than visits to Japan and The Fat Duck. Plenty on offer. - Kkanpunggi (deep fried chilli chicken) is insane - Ribeye Korean BBQ and Beef Bulgogi were superb. Very tender. - Katsu was great - Gyoza are the best I've had. ...It was all great. Perfectly balanced and considered seasoning, nothing over spiced or over gingered/chillied etc. Service was great, prices are reasonable. The place was spotless and even with the Korean bbq it didn't smell of smoke. If you want Japanese/Korean you can't go wrong here. Another nice touch was that all the deliveroo/ubereats collections were done through the back door meaning that there wasn't always a group of drivers waiting about in the restaurant. ps. parking after 6pm is free outside the restaurant but if you can't park here you can also park after 6pm for free by the shops opposite the station which is an easy 2min walk.

I always come here for a cucumber maki the best I’ve ever had and will remain like that.

We ordered the bbq set for two and the chicken was delicious, the kimchee was delicious so we’re the side dishes that came. The sushi rolls and kampungi were also delicious. This place is a big hit with our family and we’ve been twice now but we will keep going back for sushi and Korean food.

It’s a very good Korean restaurant and the food is nice. However Normally it’s very busy at night. If they can hire more staff then they can serve the food quicker and we don’t need to wait for so long

You can’t never go wrong with them, my favourite Asian restaurant. The lady in charge (which I think is the owner) is really friendly and always smiling, food is delicious, I’ve tried lots of dishes on the menu and everything has been tasty, well cooked. Love the atmosphere and the indoor Japanese-style decorations!

I wish we could give minus stars for our reviews in which case, I would happily give them -5! We went to that restaurant as I wanted to have some ramen and they have it on their online menu. When we were ready to give our order they informed us that they don't do ramen and no further explanation was given. In all honesty, we should leave the place at that moment and never look back! Instead, we stayed and ordered a tuna and a salmon maki - Both were a few days old!! the rice has dried up and the fish was anything else but fresh! both dishes were warmed up in the microwaves and extremely small for the money!!! Our main came right after, chicken teriyaki and a duck katsu carry - Again very small portions and warmed up in the microwaves! -In the chicken teriyaki they literally used one chicken thigh and some bamboo shoots!!! (In all seriousness I cook better at home!!!!) -The same applies to the duck katsu! On top of the worst food ever tried in my life the attitude on the owner wasn't the best either and I can only assume that they saw us as just money!! -Never asked if we liked the food (because they knew that we didn't!!) I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE PLACE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!! (as it seems that they have food in their freezer "ready to be served" for many days to come.

It is a very good restaurant, very authentic taste! We had some sushi, bibimbap, and soup and they were excellent! Lots of Korean customers there and it is always a good sign. Will definitely go back!

I cannot express how much I loved this place! Tried the sashimi platter, maki and udon which were all delicious. Looking forward to going again to try the Korean food soon.

Hidden gem in West Byfleet. Menu reads nicely with a mix of Japanese and Korean dishes. Kitchen is competent and none of the dishes we had were disappointing. All tasty and a good price - especially the sushi. Will definitely be returning or getting takeaway.
