A great place with good quality food!

My boys,grandaughter and daughter in law took me out for my birthday. This restaurant has been there for a few years now but this was out first visit. From the moment we arrived and all through the meal the service was excellent. The waiting staff were very knowledgeable and provided first class service. The whole meal, and we all had different dishes, we all agreed was the best food we have had in a while. All credit to the management for running such an excellent restaurant.

Driven past I don't know how many times without spotting it. Visited on a Saturday evening at short notice. Blown away by the service. Warm welcome when you walk through the door. Swift but not intrusive service at table. And great food. Good size portions of food with real flavour. Was so happy with the food, I got a take away a week later for my sister and I to enjoy. The lamb was so soft and flavorful. I will definitely be back....again!

I really love chellos , bit of a secret gem here in west byfleet , fantastic food great service excellent wine and they are starting to get involved with wine events / tastings. We discovered it on a whim when the Korean place down the street we were planning on going to relocated to Woking the food here is outstanding and even if you what the menu item is the staff and happy to explain and recommend .... you will be impressed .. we've been back multiple times and I've yet to have a single issue .

We came from Buckinghamshire and stopped off here for what turned out to be a fantastic meal. So many great flavours, and beautifully presented. The service was top rate. Restaurant itself is romantic, with a nice selection of wines, very clean and appealing. Worth a detour to eat here.

Chello is an absolute jewel. Out of this world food flavour, quality and , presentation - sublime. Incredible staff (Raff needs credits here) engaged, helpful, efficient and friendly - feels out of the normal. Decor is beautiful, private and comfortable. We will be back many times, with our friends and extended people. The price of great is irrelevant in the memory of delight.

I have been coming here for years and it is my favourite restaurant. The service is excellent and the staff our beyond accommodating and friendly. The food is so flavoursome, the meat is so tender and it is all presented so beautifully. The interior is amazing with the wine bar and the restaurant. Could not recommend this place more , a must visit!

A hidden gem in West Byfleet. Well its not that hidden, actually being on the main road! But the food, the service and the ambience are just perfect. My favourite place to eat in West Byfleet. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and can do enough for you. Most definitely worth a visit!

Lovely staff very welcoming and overall excellent attention to detail. The food was unimpressive. Disappointing but eadable. Trying to think of something exceptional I can pick out about the food but nothing comes to mind. Drink choice was good. Well done staff for making us feel welcome but the owners should take a look at the chef.

This is the best restaurant in West Byfleet. It's a family run business with the best food and atmosphere available. Highly recommend

Absolutely loved the setting, the service, the food was more than delicious and we all really enjoyed the evening. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We had really good experience with Persian food here, our first and most definitely not last. We Loved everything we ordered. It's not often you find food that awakens your taste buds and makes you smile. We were really well looked after and overall had a great time.

This place is beautiful, it’s more than a restaurant. We go to try the latest wine on the menu and then tuck into the delicious grilled meats!

The food was disappointing, we ordered two starters, a salad and two main dishes and a few extra bread (Iranian naan Lavash and Sangak). One of the starters was delicious (koofteh) and the rest of the food was disappointing. The proprietor was happy to take our order after confirming they baked Iranian bread on site. It took nearly two hours for our take away order to be made ready. During this time, he was short with us for ordering the extra bread. Apparently they are not a bakery, and have a small oven! The bread sold to us was shop bought tortillas warmed up and not the Iranian naan Lavash expected.

I agree with other critical reviews. Unfortunately, not authentic. Hugely disappointing. I’ve been eating Iranian food for 30 years. The only positive, this will be an ‘interesting’ topic of conversation with Iranian friends and family. Bread is actually Mexican Tortilla and NOT Iranian Lavash, they do not make their own bread. I also tried Sangack but it is not fresh. Food is lacking flavour and not authentic, overall presentation is not great, and staff service very slow. Tadhig was soggy and not crispy, Koobideh had a strange flavour not tasted before, starters had way too much oil sitting on top which is not normal. Really high prices for what you get. If quality and flavour are good then you don’t mind, but this was sub standard. Unfortunately it feels like rip off. I was hoping for more, and my hunt for a good Iranian restaurant in Surrey continues! Real shame, hopefully they improve otherwise I can’t see people returning.

Nice atmosphere & ambience. The doukh was great. Everything else was terrible. We had some prawns and calamari which was our mistake really. We then had the mixed grill: the meat was offensive and the chicken was utterly flavourless. I won’t even mention the price because even if it was free, the food is hardly worth making the trip to. A new chef would be most useful.

Fantastic restaurant. My partner and I went in to experience the wine and charcuterie deal. We had a wonderful time with excellent wine and lovely food.

Booked this restaurant for my two daughters birthdays, when we arrived they said it was an event night and the didn’t have our booking. We showed them our reservation on mobile and they said that it shouldn’t have been accepted. No apology from manager, was very disappointed and ruined my daughters birthdays.

This was a birthday meal. It is a long time since I ate Persian food. The meal was the best that I have tasted. Beautiful individual flavours which kept exciting my taste buds. The menu was extensive and something for everyone,. The food was beautifully presented. The service, overseen by the owner, was first rate.. Iwe stumbled over this place after coming out of a Korean restaurant looking for a coffee and cake . It was late but the staff was very welcoming . We went in and noticed the bar was a very nice area with a relaxing corner . We tried their pomegranate vodka and it was truly refreshing with a sweet taste , leaving you wanting more . Coffee was superb and so was the cake . After some weeks we returned with some friends there for dinner . Again the drinks / cocktails looked very attractive and tasted really good . The drinks have fancy names and I can guarantee it’s not on any other restaurants menu . Food was very tasty , especially the lamb shank which just fell off the bones . I found the starters were tiny servings , nevertheless very yummy . The atmosphere is really relaxing with low lights and soft music . Restaurants had the Persian feel has the Persian feel and plants and cleverly designed cubicles around the place gives a lot of Privacy in a social environment . The only downside was we ordered our drinks and starters and for almost half an hour no one came to our table ( restaurant was not busy ) . Eventually I managed to get hold of the lovely waitress I met the first time and she recognised me and from there on everything was just fabulous . If your love Persian food , it’s the place to go and the cocktails are to die for

We were greeted warmly at the door. The wait staff were attentive but it wasn’t too much. We shared a mixed starter that you can choose from a selection and then mixed meat grill with rice, veg and a flatbread. The food was delicious and the portions were great. We decided to finish it off with the pistachio ice cream that we all loved and a friend who couldn’t finish his fish got it to go. It is a lovely looking restaurant with the original old mosaic floor tiles. We had a lovely night. Will definitely be going again.

It’s not just a restaurant it’s a Persian experience, from the moment you walk through the door of this establishment to the time you leave we were bowled over with the extremely hospitable staff, ambience, interesting decor, delicious food and of course the history of the building. Originally a J Sainsbury store the current owner has painstakingly restored the most striking mosaic floor that is around 100 years old. It’s just beautiful. The rest of the decor and lighting is interesting and has been carefully thought out to ensure diners are made to feel warm and comfortable. Large selection of drinks available including cocktails and we enjoyed a pre dinner drink at the gorgeous solid wood bar. Staff are more than happy to explain the good sized menu. We had a mixture of starters that were cooked to perfection and were so tasty. Our main meals we opted for a mixture of chicken and lamb kebabs on a layer of traditional warm bread with varied vegetables and of course the famous Persian chelo rice. All food was of an extremely high quality and standard and the best Persian food we have ever tasted. The owners have done an amazing job with this restaurant and such thought has gone into absolutely everything including all the little extra touches. Just loved the coffee liqueur spoons, sugar pots and the inspirational women picture in the ladies toilet. We were truly impressed and can’t wait to visit again.

They are rip off. The quality is not as you expected . It is too expensive for the food they serve. if you really know the Persian food you would never dine there.

Wonderful food, wonderful hosts, welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The rice is absolutely divine. The mashdi bademjan is delicious. The chai is great. Will definitely be coming again to get some local and authentic Persian food.

I have been in many Iranian restaurants in different countries, and Chello is on top of my list. Everything is so satisfying there, taken from service to food. I would highly recommend Chello for anyone looking for a quality and lovely Iranian restaurant!

A great experience, from the friendly welcome onwards. This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, the decor fascinating, with an amazing history. The menu has something for everyone, and the attentive staff are happy to explain the dishes if you are unsure. That said, the food was great, sharing a starter, then enjoying something different for our mains. You must try the Persian Chai, best tea ever.

Service was really good and I liked the decor. The food was reasonable - mixed grill was tasty and rice was excellent. Hummus was horrible and why put caramel sauce on baklava!?! But overall a good experience.

Beautiful stylishly comfortable place. Very firendly and helpful staff. They have worked really hard in restoring and modernizing the place. Prices are reasonable. We ordered Olovieh but dippointedley it was more like a pure mayo souse rather then finely chopped ingrident mixed with mayo. Lavash bread was actually a tortilla wrap soaked in oil. We also had a grill for two. Chicken and lamb pieces were nice and tender. Minced kabab had a unusual spice/ flavour that we did not recognize or have ever tested before and it was overdone . Lots of mixed salad and other chopped vegetables with houmous piled up on the side! Just too many ingrident in a what was supposed to be a simple dish. Rice and tahdig was delicious. We asked for Persian tea expecting a brewed traditional tea but it was just a tea bag in a over sized glass. Coffee was excellent. Overall a lovely place but expecting more simple and traditional food for a Persian restaurant to dine in.

Beautiful atmosphere with music, attentive smiley friendly staff in a professional manner, well-presented drink and food, delicious food, not long waiting at all on a Sunday evening to be served. Road side parking was free of charge on weekends.

Visited for dinner with my husband, all of the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Lovely cocktails and a new Persian saffron flavoured gin which was to die for! The young man who served us was attentive and friendly, really professional service with a friendly smile. A fabulous restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and gorgeous decor!

Visited for the first time today, a quiet Sunday and we were the only table at first but the service was attentive and fast, food was freshly cooked and delicious - the kebab koobideh is as good as some of the well established Persian restaurants in London. Despite being quiet the atmosphere was lovely, beautifully decorated restaurant with the widest variety menu we have seen. My Iranian father was absolutely thrilled to see some of his favourite childhood dishes on the menu and loved that they had his favourite bread. If you haven’t tried Persian food, Chello is a great place to start. If you’re already a fan, you won’t be disappointed!

Iranian (read eastern Mediterranean) food. Excellent range of dips with flat bread to die for. Mains include a range of grilled or lamb or chicken stews. Try the Bastani for dessert.

The quality of food has dropped significantly. It is not the same that it used to be. We had take away several times since the restaurant was open. Today unfortunately the same grilled meats were disgusting. Not fresh, meat was of suspicious quality and covered with new awful yellow sauce. Shame!
