Just dreadful all round.. Rude owner,rude staff and the food...what can I say...without being rude myself...

Thought we’d get some fish and chips on a Friday night, pulled up just before 8:00 as looked very much open and no open times saying otherwise on the door. Asked for 2 large cod and chips and got barked at by the man behind the counter that they’d run out and empathised “because obviously we are NOW closing” making us feel guilty and awkward for walking in. Then proceed to turn the lights off in the shop while we stood waiting for our food. The absolute rudeness was shocking. Moaning about a last bit of profit before closing and making PAYING customers feel unwanted. We won’t bother again. Foods only average too.

2nd time I've been the fish was so dry, both fish and batter over cooked. Not cheap either.

Absolutely shocked with the service received! The food is not cooked properly or fit for consumption! And as for the staff they really need a lesson in customer service. And as for the owner he has a serious attitude problem, everyone iv spoke to has said the same. Reality check need for that shambles of a shop!!! I will be singing like a canary on my experience and many other experiences apparently!!!!

I presume its the owner who pretends he knows how to fry fish n chips! Very rude and arrogant to his mostly young hard working staff, food not great portion sizes shocking for the extortionate prices will never use again

Vastly overpriced (£2 for a small sausage!) and we were served black (rotten) chips. Avoid like the plague

Walked in was told walked in wrong door by some bloke bossing his young staff ,bloke was staring at me constantly like he fell in love maybe he likes dudes , service from young girl brilliant be wary medium portion of chips looks like a large chips were good five stars for that bit

We occasionally get a delivery from there and what we have had has always been good

Very disappointed, travelled only 1 mile down the road, grasey chips, curry sauce cold like a lump of jelly, very expensive, wont be coming back.

6 sausages 1 small chips and a curry sauce was over £16... very over priced.. sausages were dry and tasteless... Curry sauce tasteless... chips OK but nothing special... Won't be going back

Always fresh cooked fish and great portion sizes! Really friendly staff. Still friendly staff, chatty and still great food.

Walk in ask the guy could I have 2 jumbo sausages he said look lots of sausages cooked yes I said but no jumbos and he said we don't do them I thought he was very rude plus sausages didn't have much batter on them so won't be going here again

Extortionate prices, small portions and poor quality. Completely taking advantage of being the only accessible chip shop in the village. £8 for a piece a fish the size of my hand, absolutely ludicrous.

£7.30 in Buxton chip shop £10.60 in horsford chip shop for the same order .

Quick service and brilliant food

Awful! Literally the greasiest chippy I have ever eaten. And to add insult to injury probably the most expensive too. The batter on the £8.50 piece of cod was like chomping on a breeze block! The £1.90 sausages were so shocking even the kids laughed at them! Avoid at all costs!!!

Got home and unwrapped my food to find it having a bath in its own oil. My fish was cooked to order and by the looks of things they fetched it out of the oil using a ladle because my food was drenched, left a puddle in the bottom of the polystyrene tray. I understand that fish and chips is a bit of a greasy meal but that was ridiculous. Disgusting, made me feel sick and put me right off eating it. Most expensive, yet worst chip shop I’ve ever been to. £20 for two cod and chips of a rubbish standard. Won’t be going back

Always a warm and friendly welcome from all staff as well as a good, warm & well cooked meal served from hygenic and clean premises at competitive prices which makes for value for money. Appreciate the ability to order & pay by phone and collect, especially on the dark winter nights.

We had fish and chips on Saturday when I came down from Lincolnshire to visit my mum and dad. Couldn’t believe how reasonably price they were. Good service, friendly staff. My only negative is that it was a little greasy, hence the 4 stars.

over priced, paid over £11 pound for one piece of cod two sausages & chips and the food was completely dried out and over cooked will not use again

Fast and pleasant service. But the speed meant very greasy chips etc. Not one single crispy chip Slow down and let the fat drain at least. Also awful value, 2.15 for a medium chips and all you get is a small portion in with the fish. 6.85 is also steep for a large cod on its own...the fish was good though apart from oily. Definitely not good value.

Very poor in my opinion, spent £38 and was very disappointed, undercooked and greasy as hell chips, fish that had really hard batter, (no doubt been in the warming area for too long), I don't know that but out of the four portions of fish I had two had the hard horrid batter the other two were almost slimey in texture. Never again.

Tonight was the first time I have tried this chippy and was certainly the last. The prices are expensive and portions are small. The chips were awful, over cooked and greasey. The scampi was no different.

After spending a week in Horsford and had eaten from most of the takeaways we were looking forward to the fish and chips shop after looking at the reviews. What a shame, what a disappointment, a fresh bach of oil is needed the chips had that old oil taste very unpleasant, my piece of fish was already cook and had to way for another to be cooked no big deal well we knew which piece had been sitting there, for how long for we were unsure. Maybe an off day who knows but will not be buying again.Shame.

Staff were lovely, food really wasn't. Positives: efficient one way 'covid system' and friendly chatty staff. Negatives: no salt/vinegar and the fish was greasy and almost slimy. Chips were so so but without salt, not ideal. It seemed expensive, but we don't have fish and chips much, so I don't really have a good basis for this. We stopped here because Google maps identified it as the nearest chippy. Honestly, I wouldn't go again. The people were genuinely nice though.

I ordered some chips for my lunch and they wrapped them to take away without asking me if I would like salt and vinegar, so when I came to eat them not only did I have plain chips, they where undercooked and pale. Chips aren’t that hard to get right!! Would not recommend.

Warm soggy lifeless chips and an insipid curry sauce with no heat and flavour whatsoever. Who can get chips and curry sauce so wrong on every level?! Waste of my money and very disappointing on a cold miserable winter's day. Worst chip shop food experience I've ever had in the whole country.

Asked for a large bit of skate and they more than delivered. Almost 11lb of goodness and not a single bit wasted. Tasty as well as massive. Well cooked and as white as they come.
