We had a lovely meal last week, sitting outside. The food was superb, and the service was efficient and friendly. I can recommend the home made nachos. Probably the best I’ve ever had! And a good choice of vegetarian dishes too. The place has a lovely atmosphere whether you’re going for a meal or just to enjoy a drink.

Tried the takeaway menu during the COVID-19 lockdown. We ordered the Thai green chicken curry and buttermilk fried chicken, both of which were excellent. I was particularly impressed with the coleslaw and a proper salad - not just a token garnish - which came with the fried chicken, which itself was very tender. It was delivered promptly and was still hot. Enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Will definitely be using this service again if lockdown continues!

Sunday lunch is always good at the Horse and Groom, especially the Roast Beef. However, it has never tasted better than today. We are in lockdown because of the CV19 and this enterprising establishment are offering an almost full menu take away and delivery service. The meal for two arrived exactly on time, suitably well packaged. It benefited by flashing in the microwave and was absolutely delicious; splendidly generous portion of lovely tender beef with usual trimmings and superb red wine gravy. Finished off with the fabled bread and butter pudding with custard. What a great treat this meal was at this difficult time - well done David and Annette, and thank you!

Myself and my Elderly Father stayed here for one night on our way across country, well what a lovely find, in the heart of beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, when we arrived we were greeted by the Duty Manager ( sorry cannot remember her name ) she showed us to our room which was up some steep narrow stairs, when we opened the door we were pleasantly surprised on how nice the room was, lovely and clean, spacious and a great ensuite bathroom although small had a nice hot shower .The room had all the mod cons, small tv, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and bottles of fresh water. The bar area was warm and cozy and had a lovely atmosphere, we eat dinner in the bar which was excellent especially the Curry, delicious , the pub also had a restaurant to the rear which was lovely, we eat breakfast in there the following morning and the breakfast was excellent, must also add the duty Manageress was lovely lady, very chatty and very friendly, made you feel very welcome, all in all a lovely stay and would highly recommend this place for food and accommodation, I will definitely stay here again if in the area !!

A really pleasant experience at the pub. The room was spacious and wonderfully equipped. Nothing over the top. It and the village were cute and really relaxing. The breakfast was large and very filling, although I thought the dinner was overpriced. £12 for a small burger and about 6 chips. Staff were a little stressed and slightly robotic but other than that, the service was wonderful

Stayed here 2 nights as working locally . Had been staying else where but i wish we had found this place earlier. Room was clean well appointed, decent shower and very clean again. Room was cleaned up between nights which I didn't expect. Food is exceptional here from the evening meals to breakfast. Would recommend for accommodation and or food without hesitation.

We went here based on some reviews and that is was fairly local to where we have just moved to and on the whole we had a very decent meal, just spoilt by a very yappy jack russel in the bar area. I totally get that the owner was probably a local and goes in several times a week and spends a lot of money..but that ain't our fault and it did spoil an enjoyable evening. Hand cut chips were awesome, the kids loved the burger and the steak was lovely according to our daughter..I had the veggie penang curry and this was a bit disappoining..smallish portions and not very hot at all...shame as the thought was there. puddings were awesome though, we each had a different one and they all went down a storm.. good choice for vegetarians which was great...perhaps too much choice if i am being picky but lovely service.,..just shame about the dog ( and by the way we have 3 dogs ourselves so we aint anti dog!)

We’ve just returned from spending a night at the Horse and Groom. We had a lovely stay. We had dinner in the downstairs bar, which was delicious (their home chips were amazing) and there was a roaring wood fire burning which made it very cosy. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was brilliant. The staff were very accommodating, ensuring we had a taxi ready for us at 7 o clock, as we were going to a surprise 40th. All in all a very pleasant stay.

We were a party of 8 adults and 3 toddlers. We had a delicious lunch and excellent service. The room was all sparkling with Christmas lights which the kids thought was magical. The staff were all extremely helpful and cheerful. We had pre booked our choices of lunches from the menu in the morning, as anyone knows dining with children is challlenging! This meant we could settle ourselves and order drinks and be ready to eat relatively quickły. The food we all had was freshly cooked from local produce, e.g. turkey Christmas lunch, steaks, fish all cooked to perfection the roast potatoes were to die for!! Our compliments to the chef, thank you for a hassle free start to Christmas

Lovely pub with a nice welcome from the owners. The rooms were really nicely decorated, plenty of room. Breakfast was great, really fresh and good portions. My only criticism would be that the TV was on the blink and the matress was a tad lumpy. That said would stay again and really worth a visit.

Amazing B&B. From what I am aware of the drinks are reasonably priced. Bedrooms are very nice for what you pay, couldn’t fault them at all. Lovely little touches like a bottle of water left etc. Breakfast in the morning is very nice - get a wide variety from cereal to a full English. Orange juice and hot drinks also provided. Only fault I can think of is how the breakfast stops at 9:15 so if you wanted to lay in a little you couldn’t. Staff were very accommodating, couldn’t have been any nicer. Highly recommended, great atmosphere and a comfortable place to stay.

Mixed reviews in trip advisor so wasn’t quite sure what to expect....! Booked a table for 3 over the phone, very efficient, enthusiastic and helpful staff. Walking into the bar did feel a bit like a ‘drinkers pub’, however we were greeted cheerfully and shown through to the dining room, very busy and a bit noisy (lots of happy customer conversation). Menu was straight forward, we had beef roasts and a chicken in bacon. Food arrived well cooked, all lovely and hot, all at the same time and exactly what we ordered, with a large insulated jug of gravy! Simple stuff, but important and not everywhere gets these basics right. Had puddings which were equally good - sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie- very sweet and tasty. Food was overall very good, service was fine, at the end of the day it is a dining room at the back of a pub (no windows) so surroundings not special / fancy, still a very pleasant, honest pub Sunday lunch. About £75 for 2 courses, 3 people, including a drink each.

Our first visit to the Red Lion today for Sunday lunch. We visited with some friends, as the pub was the perfect central location for all of us. The pub was busy, but we were warmly greeted on arrival and shown to our table. The food was AMAZING - white onion and leek soup, followed by roast beef for me. Both dishes were full of flavour. The cauliflower cheese served with the roasts was delicious, we almost resorted to arm wrestling (jokes) for the last spoonful. The waiting staff were all really friendly, attentive and most of all fun - no surly untrained youngsters here. A fantastic afternoon with our friends, topped off with meeting the Chef on our way out - great to be able to compliment him and his team for a lovely lunch. Will definitely return and will recommend.
