Easy check, nice, guy. Room really good, looked brand new. Good quality shower and facilities, kettle and drinks etc, ironing board and hairdryer. Bed was comfortable and room very quiet. Location excellent.

We booked this hotel for one night as we were up in the Leeds area visiting family and friends ,the check in was very easy and we were shown to our room ,which was very nice and bright. We had tea making facilities,the bed was firm ,bathroom also excellent,we would stay here again

Great service at the bar. The range of beers was good and staff recommended a good choice after a quick discussion about preference. Now owned by Brew York and serves their marvelous range of beers 😎

Arrived to be told didn't have our booking as taken over 6 weeks ago and our details were not passed on, but luckly had a room for us .room was very nice and comfortable but too expensive I think as no breakfast. No food at all actually as kitchin not up and running! The staff were very nice though and saying all this we did enjoy our stay and otley is a lovely place .

Booked 6 months in advance for a wedding. Showed up and told by the bar staff that they could not find our booking and that they had sold out of rooms for the night. They phoned their manager who said the "system was down" and they couldn't process a refund, so to request one through Expedia which I'm currently trying to do. They didn't offer any kind of backup or compensation. Save yourself the bother and avoid. Edit in response to reply: we must not be the person you are thinking of as we were offered no alternative accomodation, we stayed with friends in Leeds. It's really not our problem that you didn't organise with the previous owners to properly take over the existing bookings.

Not at all what the photos depicted, and no kitchen

We booked 2 nights for a wedding where the reception was being held in Otley - great location for getting back after the reception we thought. On arrival, chaos! No staff whatsoever, and a bar with several customers waiting to be served. Rang the bell several times, and after 15mins or so the (aparently) only staff member turned up. We were then told the kitchen was 'broken', so no breakfast (which we'd booked). They couldn't reduce the room cost to allow for lack of breakfast, but we could have £10 each drinks at the bar! We didn't take up that offer, as we were meeting family for drinks elsewhere. We had intended eating dinner at the Horse & Farrier this evening, but obviously couldn't. Very poor, and would not recommend. That said, the room was just about OK. Pity about someone's polo shirt left in the wardrobe (sadly not my size). Not a great welcome to Otley!

Very expensive and card payment only so make sure you have cash.

Stayed here for a night while in town and it was excellent - brilliant staff who couldn't do enough for you, the room was spotless, quiet and comfortable (one of the better nights sleeps I've had) and the place is easy to find, right in the centre of town.

Poor quality beer. Overpriced. Miserable bar staff. Don’t take cash. No CAMRA discount for cask ales. Don’t know how they stay in business!!

Stayed for three nights. The room was comfortable and clean, and as it is two floors above the pub floor it was quiet. Staff were all very friendly, and the breakfasts were excellent. Would happily return.

This is a lovely relaxing pub to stay over in, or just have a drink at. Staff on the ball and kindly helped us to top floor room with luggage. Room clean comfortable adequate for our short stay. Breakfast in morning expertly done by Leon who was kind, courteous and a very good manager inspite of working alone. We will be returning as in our view everything was in place for an enjoyable stay. Usually a well run pub with lots of good beer choices. Last night at 6.30 there was only one inexperienced member of staff working resulting in a fifteen minute wait to be served. Only two real ales were available and there were lots of children milling around. This was a shame as it is usually a well run friendly pub.

Another lovely stay at The Horse and Farrier. Lovely bedrooms with tea and coffee etc. and free toiletries. The breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. Looking forward to our next stay

Beautiful location, room spotlessly clean , plenty of tea , coffee, soaps, plug sockets etc .( even extra tea and coffee were offered if needed ) Staff were extremely nice and helpful and nothing was too much trouble The full English breakfast was perfect and complimentary parking at rear of building was ideal . Beautiful park just a short walk away with lovely river walk . We stayed as a couple and just wish we could’ve stayed a little bit longer . We would highly recommend this place . We will be back .

Loved the fresh cleanness all through, Our Room (linen & pillows good quality) downstairs spotless , good breakfasts, nice friendly staff, very central for shopping, some very unique shops too . the only downside for us 76 & 81 yrs were the stairs three lots , though we did have the option of the fire escape which had more hand rails & led into the car park, all in all the four nights we stopped were great value for money .

We recently had a wake at the Horse & Farrier and it couldn’t have been more perfect. All the staff and manger went the extra mile to ensure the event was everything we wanted it to be. We had the pub to ourselves all Friday afternoon, making the event feel special and private. The food was amazing, with plenty of choice, and plenty of it, they also catered for vegetarians, vegans and GF. They let us use the pubs big TV to run a slideshow and they were more than happy to play our music playlist. A massive thanks to all the staff for helping us through a difficult time.

Fantastic pub hotel. We stayed for two nights. Our room was beautiful - comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean. All amenities were provided. The full English breakfast was amazing - the best we have had in years! Nothing was too much for the staff who go out of their way to make your experience "a true Yorkshire welcome". Was looking somewhere for lunch in Otley and came across this lovely pub. As soon as we walked through the door we were made very welcome. Ordered the Sunday lunch Roast Beef, Yorkshire’s and veg. The meat melted in the mouth and the veg cooked to perfection. We will definitely be going back to visit.

Been there with my family we had sunday lunch.we asked well done meat.but it wasn"t.my wife didnt touch the meat.the waiter didnt care.they charged fully except my black americano.I do this catering job since 1983 till now.I knew this sector very well.worked in kitchen,bar,restaurant 4 star hotel in resort place( bodrum) serve food under the 43 degree hot on the beach.sometimes 17 hours a day ,6 months non stop 7 days a week.I am writing my life experince about servicing food.When I saw that kind of service in horse and farrier and nobody care it pushed me to write review at middle of night(00.55) I am 50 years old.If your waiter or waitress thinks more energetic and do better job than me.Just respond me I am ready for challenge.Celalizm

Ordered two meals: pie & mash, and NewYork burger with onions as an optional extra. We were approached at our table by an unsmiling staff member, wireless card reader aloft, to be told that we hadn’t paid the additional £1.25 for the onions. So we paid the additional £1.25. The pie arrived with chips and the burger (we thought) without the onions. How wrong we were about those precious onions! See pic. Really?? The pie was good.

Tuve 3 noches tranquilas encantadoras dormir. Y la ventaja fue el magnífico desayuno inglés completo preparado por la encantadora Anne cada mañana, fue muy servicial y amable. This is a decent pub, my beer drinking friends enjoy what it offers, and I have no complaints. It can be occasionally noisy.

Stayed here for one night after Christmas. Staff didn't even look up or welcome us. We needed to get their attention before any action was taken. We know the place is cheap, but bad cheap is still no good. There is hardly any hanging space for clothes, there are no bedside lamps, nor light switches next to the bed. So to bed with your phone light. The electric shower had basically two settings in reality, either cold or far too hot. Impossible to adjust to a nice setting.The settee bed has stains. All together a real no no. There was one highlight though! The stand-in breakfast lady cooked us an excellent full English breakfast.

Clean spacious room with good facilities. Lovely shower, plenty of tea and coffee provided in room. Good cooked breakfast.

Cuando entramos estaba oscuro y no había personal ni clientes, extraño. Inmediatamente me sentí incómodo y quise irme, pero a mi amigo no le molestaron, así que mantuve el orden. La elección del menú era limitada y costosa por lo que ofrecían. Pedí una hamburguesa sin tomate, sin salsa, solo lechuga y mi amigo consiguió brochetas de pollo y papas fritas. Esperamos mucho tiempo, quizás 40-45 minutos para nuestra comida a pesar de que éramos los únicos allí. Oímos al personal hablar sobre 'están juntos pero ordenaron por separado', lo cual era cierto, pero no debería haber importado, ya que pedimos mucho antes de que llegaran otros clientes, lo que nos hizo pensar que no recibieron nuestro pedido o simplemente lo olvidaron sobre nosotros. Cuando finalmente llegó la comida, se habían olvidado de mi lechuga, pero no dije nada porque no me molestaba demasiado, ya que había esperado tanto tiempo. Las brochetas de mis amigos tardaron otros 10 minutos y se veía horrible. El pollo estaba blanco y seco y parecía que no había sido sazonado. Llegó a una cama de la salsa de la casa, pero parecía que se había congelado y separado. Básicamente dejó todo y nadie vino a tomar nuestros platos o preguntar si la comida estaba bien. Nos fuimos tan rápido como pudimos y fuimos a buscar algo a otro lado. Definitivamente no volveremos.

Fuimos a conocer a algunos de la familia y quedamos gratamente sorprendidos.Ales, ginebras y cervezas son lo suficientemente abundantes para satisfacer casi cualquier antojo.La comida es simple pero buena y el lugar es excelente, amplios asientos adentro y un área oculta atrás es buena para grupos y buen clima.No demasiado ocupado y todo lo que quieres para una cerveza tranquila.

I’ve visited this pub on several occasions but never enjoy the atmosphere . It feels very unwelcoming and not as friendly as other pubs in the same group . It’s also a bit pricey for what it offers , reflected perhaps in never being pariculaly busy. Could benefit from some staff training about being more customer friendly !

Me alojé aquí una noche mientras caminábamos, y fue perfectamente aceptable. A pesar de la edad de la posada, las habitaciones de arriba son modernas y están en un nivel con un Travelodge (que se entiende como un cumplido). Tienes todo lo que necesitas y puedes dormir bien. La posada está justo en el centro de la ciudad, muy útil para lo que sea. Estaba un poco intimidada por la explicación de la dueña de la casa sobre cómo entrar y salir después de las horas, y las peculiaridades de girar las llaves (no tengo remedio para las llaves), así que me aseguré de estar de vuelta antes de que se cerrara el bar.

Estuvimos en Otley para un evento familiar y decidimos quedarnos aquí. Un entorno muy agradable, cómodo y con buena comida. No es un establecimiento grande pero muy amigable. Como sirve como un pub local, las habitaciones son muy tranquilas. Bueno para visitar Otley y no lejos de la estación de autobuses para visitar más lejos.

Nos alojamos aquí por una noche, un pub con habitaciones. Una noche muy ruidosa como una conferencia para unas 30 personas se estaba llevando a cabo en la sala debajo de nosotros, que luego tenía que prepararse para el desayuno, moviendo ruidosamente sillas y mesas alrededor de un gran espacio con un piso de madera.

We came here for Sunday lunch and the pub was about half full with plenty of empty tables. A member of staff started taking our order, then halfway through hurried off to the kitchen. She returned to the bar a few times, getting more & more flustered regarding an order that had been taken by a party in front of me, but not returning to finish my order. Finally another member staff came over, only to be told that the kitchen were now taking no more orders. The manager half heartedly apologised while passing by to sort out another order that had been muddled. We left without eating or drinking anything. All in all a very poor experience, made worse by the fact that the manager couldn't really have cared less. I wouldn't normally leave such a bad review and rather try to rectify problems at the venue, but the way we were brushed off meant this wasn't possible. Needless to say we won't be returning.

We called in on the way to friends for dinner and ordered two Chimay Blue's. They were placed on the bar in front of us and opened. Both immediately started overflowing. This was because they had been in the fridge and not served at room temperature as required. Two incorrect shaped glasses were given and change received. No offer to pour. Surely the staff should be trained how to keep and serve bottled beers. Not a pleasant experience for nearly £12.

Great pub with a fantastic selection of beers and spirits. Comfortable, welcoming and dog friendly. Decent food on offer too. The Christmas sandwich was fantastic!!! Turkey, Roast Potatoes, Cranberry Sauce and gravy. Yummy!

Tomé un paseo aquí un viernes por la noche con perros y decidí probar la comida también. La cerveza es una pinta muy decente de Taylors Boltmaker, ¡nada mejor! El ambiente es realmente relajado y amigable, no importaba que no fuéramos 'locales'

Nos encantó el personal, el desayuno era siempre fresco, el café estaba listo y las comidas eran bastante buenas. Las pintas y la comida estaban por encima del precio promedio en Otley, pero evitó que el pub se llenara de bebedores diurnos, etc. Hemos pasado una buena cantidad de tiempo en Otley y siempre es agradable volver a casa. La habitación familiar era bastante pequeña, ya que somos dos adultos y un adolescente. Debería haber reservado dos habitaciones, pero aprendí la lección. Recomiendo ya que la ubicación está justo abajo de la plaza también.

La cerveza es muy cara pero suele valer la pena. A veces el servicio es deficiente debido a la falta de personal. Un nuevo miembro del personal hace dos semanas estaba demasiado ocupado charlando con un cliente para molestarse en servir.

We popped in for a quick drink after a walk. Having been happy with the food on our previous two visits.

The pub was fairly quiet when we arrived but soon got packed out, we ordered straight away to avoid the rush but waited for ages for our food. I'd asked for my starter to be served as a main so i could eat with the two others in our party. Alas mine arrived alone, much before the other two dishes. My husband's pie arrived cold in the middle, to be fair the waitress swopped it & the one that came back was a different much improved piece. However my starter of baked camebert was served with white sliced toast not crostini as promised and it was smothered in pepper. I was not impressed as I'd ordered a dish that I'd hoped would be sweet & rather bland but the excessive pepper made it very difficult to eat so I left most of it. Why is the chef adding seasonings when the customer should be doing their own if required? When the waitress asked if my dish had been ok I said no & explained about the pepper but heard no more....no apology, no offer of a refund or another dish. Not impressed at all. I appreciate that the staff were by now mad busy but to not deal with a problem when it arises is unacceptable, expecially when I'd just spent over £40 on food & drink.

We were visiting family and needed a room for two nights at fairly short notice. The room we were allocated was the family room, and as a couple we found it spacious clean and comfortable, with no noise disturbance.

My husband and I thought we would try Sunday lunch here last weekend based on all the good reviews on tripadvisor and the fact that we like the other pubs owned by the same group. We were both disappointed on entering, the pub looked tired gloomy and grubby. There were only a couple of tables occupied and despite there being a board outside advertising lunch, the girl behind the bar said they'd stopped serving. She then seemed very confused and said she'd check with the chef. On returning, she confirmed they weren't still serving food, we asked what times food was usually served and she replied that she was just a trainee and didn't know, even though she seemed to be the only front of house member of staff there. Needless to say, we didn't stay there. Market town taverns, what is going on? Why are your other pubs so much better?

Needed a pub with food that offered a dog friendly venue - this fitted the bill.

Came hear Saturday afternoon,my husband got a bolt maker beer ,and it was flat and cloudy ,on telling the lady behind the bar she just said it was condensation from being cold ,I’ve worked in this industry for 24 years and know what I’m talking about,she never replaced it or anything,never be back RUDE STAFF !!!

Nice room, it looked like it had been recently refurbished. All mod cons, except there wasn’t a hairdryer in the room x the toilet roll holder kept breaking. But not a big deal.

An old building but very modern rooms inside. The rooms are very clean, tidy and comfortable. The pub sells real ale, well kept. Good pub food. Can be a bit tardy on payment and invoices.

This place was lovely for a pub meal. Good portions, nice service. Small menu which means good quality.

This is the type of pub people who shop at Waitrose would enjoy. It’s clean, bright, friendly and a notch above all the other pubs in Otley with exception of the Stew and Oyster which it’s on a par with. Decor is contemporary without being pretentious. Toilets (always important!) are excellent. There is never much in the way of atmosphere when I’ve been in. Just couples and groups of well behaved, smart casual people enjoying themselves. I like it.

As I was to meet others in the venue, decide to take lunch whilst waiting. Very traditional ales served from the rustic bar area. Not a large menu choice, but superb food and service.

I've been a regular pub visitor at many of the pubs in Otley and have always considered the Horse and Farrier to be one of the best. I've reviewed this pub before based on the food but am so impressed with the quality of the beer recently. There is new management in the pub and some of the cask beers I've tried in the last few weeks have been simply excellent. Keep it up!

Chap on the phone was very helpful booking our table and rang back to confirm everything later in the day. Had a nice table by the window which kept our 1 year old busy watching the cars go by. 4 adults had roast dinner which was excellent, lots of meat and tonnes of seasoned veg which was lovely. Children's fish goujons were amazing, was expecting a "fish finger" type meal but it was fresh fish battered and home made chips which went down a treat. My only suggestion would be not to salt the chips on children's meals but a very minor complaint considering the quality of the rest of the food. Can't wait to come back with the dog and sit in front of the fire, I'll definitely be ordering fish and chips!

We started going in this fine pub when it first opened and frequented it every week but things changed over time the quality of the food and drink went down hill and we stopped going in we recently heard it had new management and had improved we went in on Saturday early doors and had some of the worst beer I have had in a long time not very well looked after having been a camra member for over 30 years I know something about beer we were going to have something to eat but but decided not to bother

Had lunch here today with friends and 4 Large . After having had a great walk around Swinsty we had A warm & friendly welcome from all the staff. Given a good table not squashed into a corner like some dog friendly pubs tend to do. Meals were fabulous enjoyed by all.

If there was a 3.5 option I would have selected that.

Came here for lunch after a long walk. Ideal location, dog friendly and the staff are very friendly. Clean restaurant with wise choice on menu. Decent portions and taste homemade. Can recommend the burgers and pie. Chips are amazing. Will definitely return.

The pub had some young bar staff who were excellent at their job.

Decided to eat here as it had vegan options for two of our friends and it looked very inviting. The food, which was average at best, came out all at different times, we had finished by the time our friends got their food. The staff were a little apologetic but not very sincere and we felt a little ripped off after paying £11 for pie, chips and gravy when what we got given appeared to be small slice of ‘craft’ pie with some overdone, dry wedges. The only thing that redeemed it all was the beer (although again, for nearly £15 for 2 pints you would hope it would be nice!)

We stayed one night, and as it was the busy Victorian fayre in Otley we were glad of the free...

We've just recently returned from a stay in the horse and farrier. We had intended to stay 2 nights but got called back home after one....no reflection on hotel I must say.

Had a lovely meal in a very clean and friendly pub. The staff are very pleasant and nothing is a problem.

We spent the night at this lovely pub for my brothers 50th, the rooms were immaculate and very up to date. We had a buffet put on.There was a good selection of food and plenty of it, the food was so lovely all the family enjoyed it, the breakfast was so yummy and very filling .The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure your stay very comfortable,they were very professional and polite, we will be all certainly staying at this pub hotel again in the future. I broke my journey here after dropping my daughter at university. A fairly surly greeting on check in turned out to be because they had overbooked. After 10 minutes they showed me to my room, whose recessed ceiling lights made it look like Wembley but whose table lamps just glowed. Take your pick! In the morning I tried and tried but could not get the electric shower to work. And yes, I did switch it on outside the bathroom first! I hoped to be on the road early but breakfast only starts at 08.00. In reality, at 08.10 I was told a full breakfast would be another 20 minutes and nobody had informed her there was an 08.00 sitting. So I got an egg. No shower, and an egg. So yes, I do feel a little underwhelmed!

We called in for dinner after having been here for a drink a couple of times. The menu is appetising, with plenty for vegetarians, and the prices are very reasonable. The design of the interior is very appealing, light and airy with nice décor, and the staff are very friendly and professional. The bar offers a great selection of drinks at good prices, and I particularly like the range of bar snacks at 3 for £5. I know from previous visits that these are very generous servings! We had a burger and a steak and ale pie. This was magnificent: cut from one big pie (rather and an individual one, which in my experience can end up being mostly pastry and air), crammed with succulent meat and served with lovely vegetables. The burger also went down well with my husband. His sweet potato fries were delicious. We had no room for dessert, but I am sure they would have been equally delicious!

Popped in on a night out in Otley. Plenty of drinks to choose from. Good selection of real ales. The place is larger that expected in side, plenty of seating and a good feel to the place, it has a little outside seating area also. All in, the beer was good and service was very good also, recommend a visit if your nearby!!

stayed overnight to attend a family party in otley. room was absolutely lovely with a hospitality tray and toiletries. Breakfast was good but took so long to arrive, we waited at least 15 minutes for anyone to come and take our order. there was coffee on the bar but no tea and no one around to ask for any. coffee was good but just 1 pot for 6 people and again o one around to ask for more. this wouldnt put us off from staying again but more staff are needed for breakfast servery.

The rooms are well appointed and the breakfast good, although they didn't have black pudding which was on the menu. The lady and her son serving were very friendly. It does appear a little disorganised though and I think we were alone on the premises at night. Would stay again though if in area.

I visited the pub yesterday with a group of friends for a private do in their function room. The room was really nice and the staff were really friendly and helpful. There was a fantastic range of beer, including a delicious plum porter. We had pizza which tasted really fresh and different and very delicious! Went for a lovely walk around Otley In between drinks which was also very charming!

I visited the pub today with my family. I'm a regular visitor for drinks and the pub has a good selection of cask beers. First time eating here though and we were very happy with the food. The kids meals were very generous portions, the burger was excellent and the chunky chips perfectly cooked/seasoned. Finished off with black forest cheesecake....mmmmm. We'll definitely be back...compliments to the chef.

I found this Pub/Hotel to be ideal for what I wanted, the bedroom was modern with all the excellent facilities, English breakfast was very good, well cooked and presented, I found the staff pleasant and helpful, the extra evening meal was good, unfortunately drinks from the bar quite expensive. I would certainly use this hotel again

Very poor. Menu not as per website so didn't accomodate celiac. Three of six meals served returned due to missing ingredients (no cheese on cheeseburger and no bacon or brie on bacon, brie chicken burger). No fish and chips. Was explained there was a new chef who didn't know the menu. Also Head Office was blamed for not updating website. No brown sauce available. Staff friendly enough but very young and inexperienced. No coffee available as machine had been 'switched off' and would take '20 minutes' to heat up. Was told there wasn't a kettle to make a coffee despite it being a b&b?!? Was told kitchen closed at 8 so didn't feel we could ask for dessert. Don't go!!

Very good room, clean and very confortable.Nice bar area as well as good kept real ale.great breakfast.Was near town centre so shopping is great with only a short walk back to hotel.Would stay again.Do wish the bar would stay open longer for residents.

A group of six of us stayed at the Horse and Farrier for just one night at the weekend, we had a lovely time. From the moment we arrived the staff were very welcoming and friendly, they were concerned that we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The rooms were lovely and clean,warm and the beds were comfy, plenty of tea, coffee and bottles of water. We unpacked a few things and headed out round the very nice town of Otley, I must say this a great place for a weekend break, especially if you are a fan of real ale. There are lots of pubs and nice cafes and all the locals seem really friendly, we were welcomed everywhere we went. There are also some fabulous walks in the countryside around the town. Breakfast in the Horse and Farrier was also very good, we had the full english and it was well cooked and well presented. We felt sorry for the lovely lady who had everything to do all on her own, cooking, serving and taking the orders all with a smile. I would recommend this place, we will certainly return, can't wait.
