Excellent lunch, food was lovely. Service was great. Would highly recommend for a lovely drive out in a nice Restaurant overlooking the harbour.

Had the best meal ever ,breaded chicken fillets were to die for ,macaroni cheese was soooo good and white pudding .chips were perfect ..beans and coleslaw made with red cabbage ...1st class service ...10/10

Food was very average, service was adequate but not friendly. We felt like we were not welcome (as we have felt in other establishments in this area, like the Harbour Bar). It seems they just don’t like tourists/visitors in this area, so be forewarned.

Lovely setting with views over the harbour and out to sea. Lovely menu with a lot of items also available gluten free. We had GF battered haddock (best I’ve ever had) with battered prawns, garlic butter haddock, halloumi fries, salad and coleslaw. The Petit Chablis complimented it perfectly. Portions were generous, so we had Affogato afterwards. The perfect ending to a perfect meal!

Having used the restaurant previously and loved it, I was extremely disappointed with the takeaway side of the business. Staff serving more interested in potatoes and talking to each other and both the fish supper and haggis supper could have swam up to the counter with the amount of greasy oil clinging to them. Batter was awful and sad to say I will not return if this is the standard of food and customer service.

We are literally so happy we went there. Delicious food, beautiful set up. My personal measure for the quality of any restaurant is always the side salad and the kids menu… they smashed it. The side salad came plentiful, fresh and flavoursome with a lovely dressing, the kids menu is a regular fixture within the main menu and very thoughtful (if anything I’d say the portion sizes could be a bit smaller). I don’t even have to go into describing the quality of our meals - delicious. The staff were confident in their knowledge of the menu (including kids) and appropriately attentive. This made our day honestly the best restaurant in the region for us. We will be back.

Our food was excellent. We had some of the best fried mushrooms we’ve ever had. The onion rings and fish & chips were great! The view was very nice!

This is for the mobile fish van at Stonehaven pier. The fish suppers were excellent. Good sized and a fair price. It is located at the turning space at the end of the pier bit well worth a visit

Quick service in the takeaway. Great choice of different seafood. I had battered King Prawns they were amazing, light crispy batter and plenty of them. Hubby had a fish supper again a decent portion. Great value for the amount given. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Definitely will be back

was in tonight for a takeaway and a male member of staff,the only one wearing jeans was eating food with his fingers then turned and started cooking fish ?! totally unacceptable behavior 🤢 clearly has no aspect of hygiene? and to be eating in full view of customers waiting on there food !! disgusting

Lovely clean restaurant. Nice seaside themed decor and great views overlooking the sea and harbour. Good choices on the menu and I had the fish and chips with salad option which was absolutely delicious. Great staff and service and reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend here and will return when next in the area.

The Quayside is always a winner! On our recent visit we both had the haddock and chips followed by the sticky toffee pudding. Food was fabulous…fresh, extremely tasty and lovely and hot ( always a bonus!) The staff are attentive and make you feel so welcome. We can’t wait to return to this “little gem”

So disappointed, we have visited many times, this was a disaster, with friends who had travelled 6 hours to visit us. The Fish goujons were rock hard, looked like they had been recooked from days ago, or over cooked, the breadcrumbs and fish or chicken no idea what it was was so bad, were inedible, like cement, no dip so asked for Mayonnaise, this was so small hardly a teaspoonful, so small the goujon would not fit in it. The chips were a disgrace, all ends and crumbs the party all left the chips, its a chip shop that cannot do decent chips!! finally asked to see a menu on paying but was told you don't have any, to look on the internet, I just wanted to give feedback about the meal and dips for the goujons, but left as quickly as possible.

We ate here for the first time yesterday and was simply delicious. We had an excellent table next to the window with view. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. We will most certainly be back.

We were seated at a table overlooking the harbour which was lovely. We could not fault the food. The only thing we picked up on was the attentiveness of the staff - we sat for a while trying to get the attention of the staff for another drink and our empty plates took a while to be cleared. The restaurant wasn’t busy with 2 staff on, they did apologise for the delay. It wouldn’t stop us going back because the food was very good but I was a bit apprehensive leaving a tip due to the lack of attentiveness

We stopped in for the first time at this restaurant. By the time we got to Gourdon, it was very cold and dark. The welcome from the waitress could not have been better, she was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. We had the best Skink soup ever, warm, flavoursome and full of beautiful delicately smoked fish. The haddock, chips and mushy peas with lovely tartare sauce was again excellent. The freshest of fish, light and crispy batter, and fresh chips. We finished with a large portion of apple, pear and bramble berry crumble with vanilla ice-cream. Homemade and stunning. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will definitely return, when the weather is better!

We have used this chippy many times and normally the food is fantastic. Sadly, this was not the case tonight. The fish was either recooked, overcooked or the fat needs changed! The fish was solid and most of it not edible. This is an award winning chippy and as a local want it to stay like that, however, if they continue to serve customers terrible fish, it won’t be long before people stop going.

Great little place over the chip shop on the harbour pier with big windows looking out over the harbour. Offers burgers, hot dogs and pizzas as well as a selection of fish. Everything was fresh and well cooked. The pizza was particularly good. They offer a range of portion sizes for the fish dishes- small, regular and jumbo. The staff were lovely. Street parking nearby. Can book a table on their website. Access by stairs round the side of the chip shop. Don't plan a romantic walk on the harbour wall afterwards- it's a working harbour and smells very fishy.

We tried the mobile van in Laurencekirk, the fish was meant to be medium and it was the tiny, the chicken fillets tasted horrible and the batter was all soggy, the chips were hard and dry, definitely not worth paying nearly £40, we will not be using the mobile chip van again.

We were disappointed after this having such good reviews! The haddock wasn't that fresh, white pudding was stories. Smoked sausage was the only thing that was nice.

Visited today 3 rd June for a Take away to enjoy with family . 3 Fish suppers 2 single fish 1 red pudding 1 portion mushy peas total cost £47.00. This was poor value for money. The fish was far from being fresh - dirty grey colour - the chips were dry and old tasting. Disappointing meal . 7 people behind the counter yet it still took over 10 minutes to provide the food. Considering today’s economic climate eating out is a treat, this was an expensive disappointment. Will not be returning even though we reside locally.

We both had jumbo haddock and chips. The haddock was very moist and the batter very crispy. In fact the fish was as near perfect as possible. The portion sizes are very generous. I'd have happily shared chips but hubster not so keen on the idea! Service incredibly quick considering it was about 6pm on Saturday and there were plenty people in the queue. We also had curry sauce and mushy peas. Both were in huge cartons. I would give 5 stars if there was some choice about portion size as I would have been happy with a half portion of chips and mushy peas.

Gourdon is a gem of a village . Great walks and stunning seaside location. I recommend the walk from Inverbervie to gourdon ,a drink in the newly refurbished pub and book a window seat in the fish bar which sells a lot more besides..The meal was superb from a varied menu and service was impeccable. Euan looked after us in aprofessional manner and the place was crowded with happy punters Our friend loved it and will recommend it to her mates . We strongly recommend it to you!!!!

Stopped by here whilst in the area after it was recommended to us. Didn't eat in, but rather got it to go from the chip shop portion of the restaurant. Fish was tender and and flavourful with a crispy battered exterior, you can tell how fresh it is. Chips were cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Highly recommend if in the area - worth the drive if you're not.

I hope the nasty staff feel really good about themselves after getting caught out making fun of my mother in law. She was nothing but kind to you thanking you profusely for your service and meal. Then my partner walks past and hears three of you mocking her? I don't have to make excuses for her because she did not a thing wrong but she is a stroke survivor which still affects her thought processes and daily life. If she likes to go out of her way to personally thank people, what's wrong with that? I'd advise anyone who is remotely different to steer clear of this restaurant. They'll be lovely to your face but laugh at you behind your back.

We bought an itison on deal for the quayside, two courses for two, costing £25. Every bit worth the money. I had calamari and my wife had breaded mushrooms to start, both sizeable portions and tasted great. We then both had the battered haddock, again, huge portions and tasted fantastic. View over the harbour was amazing and the staff were very friendly. We walked seven miles before our lunch from Gourdon to Johnshaven and back which put us in the mood for seafood. Would definitely recommend and we will be back that’s for sure.
