Horizons Restaurant in Fife

As a group we have been coming to Horizons for our pre-Christmas lunch for six years now and have always been very pleased. Not so today. We had pre-ordered our meal mostly choosing turkey. The turkey tasted like it was processed, the roast potatoes were undercooked as were the the pigs in blankets and the carrots were extremely overcooked. As ever the staff were attentive but the meal was very disappointing.

We’re regulars to the horizon restaurant for high tea and it’s always been very good. Our visit this time was unexpected to say the least, I asked for the mixed grill without the chicken, peas or chips as I don’t like these, that was fine and the staff said they would add a little extra which turned out to be one extra sausage which was fine. We paid the bill and upon checking the receipt, they had added £3 for the sausage!. Wow! I emailed them and Janet phoned me and the first thing she said was but you got extras, no I got 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 1 egg, mushrooms and half a tomato £20.50. Janet then told me to ask for her on the next booking and they would take the £3 off. I said ok which I shouldn’t have but I’m sorry I’m not asking for £3, it should never have happened in the first place. You’ve lost 3 regular customers!

Decided to try it out for an evening meal with my wife. 6pm slot. Booking said table had to be vacated by 7.10pm. Weird. Pene Pasta Bognaise with parmesan and garlic ciabata. Large portion. Pasta fell apart. Obviously pre cooked and reheated. Soft and squidgy and didn't retain its shape. Not good at all 🙄 Macaroni cheese with salad and garlic ciabata. Mac cheese in a separate little tub. Nice and hot , very cheesy. Pasta soft and soggy again , pre cooked and didn't retain its shape. Not acceptable at all. Sweet menu is rubbish. Selection of 5 items. Warm apple pie and ice cream was tasty enough. Cheesecake of the day was passionfruit. Ohhh yes please 😛 Normal cheesecake with fresh cream on top with 6 small slivers of passionfruit sat on it🧐🧐 Gutted ..😔 Service was good though. Won't be going back

Service was inconsistent, the fish and chips was vile..looked nice but it was soggy, greasy and tasteless. The 2 burgers were the same ..looked nice but bland, tough to eat and very greasy. They had been sat under the hotplate lights so the salad and coleslaw were warm. First day breakfast was great..2nd day was terrible..clearly different chef. Even the tea/coffee was undrinkable..very weak tea and coffee that had been sat for hours by the taste of it. Both mornings terrible service though. Staff too busy trying to clean up and get finished rather than give a decent service, clear lack of supervision, direction and leadership. Shame the execution was so poor spoiling the quality ingredients..you can tell the meat comes from a decent supplier.

Was in today and didn’t enjoy much of it. The tomatoe soup was like out a tin. Two main course was the fish and chips. Mine was awful all soggy, didn’t enjoy it at all. However my husbands was good he said. The steak pie was ok, I’ve tasted better. We are frequent guests to this restaurant, sometimes it’s outstanding and other times it’s not been good at all. Unfortunately for us now, we won’t be back as too many times we’ve been let down now.

Good and drink too expensive. You are paying for the views over the Fifth of Forth and the bridges which is beautiful.

I had been told prior to making the booking service was appalling, however, I strongly believe in supporting local businesses. I was wrong. The only thing we didn't do was cook the food. The staff told us to serve ourselves and that they did not do table service for drinks so we had to go to the bar to buy our drinks. We were not told about specials or the soup of the day. The staff were aggressive and extremely unpleasant. I don't understand why staff were horrid. There was no one in the section of the restaurant we were sitting in, a few tables were occupied by the window, the restaurant area was empty. The staff stood at the bar pointing and laughing at our table. I don't know why. Any drinks bought from the bar were handed over in an unpleasant manner, and they were like this with other guests. I don't know why we didn't walk out. My only regret is that we didn't leave. We did ask to speak to someone in charge but was told no. So upset and disappointed in this establishment. We won't be back. A lot of the party have grandchildren and would take them swimming at The Bay but this has since stopped. I don't believe you can call yourself a restaurant if it's self service. I've had better service from take aways. Do not waste your time going here. The worst experience of dining to date. Not that this can be classified as dining.

We often pop into the restaurant for breakfast after a swim. Great views across the Forth. Food is good and never takes long to arrive. The staff are always happy and friendly. There are lots of space and the tables are spread out, so not too noisy. We will be back again soon, thanks.

Me and the wife went for lunch. Lovely table with a spectacular view of the Forth esturay. 2 steak pie dinners and excellent. Chips were good and thr steak pie was great. Nice to go now and then in a while. Staff were all pleasant and professional.

We booked a table of 11 for a birthday lunch. The staff were rude and unhelpful. The food was not the best I had breaded fish it was deep fried and very dry. We were told to be quiet which we found unfounded we had a four year old with us!! Then after i had left the waitress asked the rest of the party to leave. I have never been treated so badly in any establishment. you can't put 11 people at a table and not expect some degree of noise. And we are talking about a caravan park here!!! I will not be back Rude and bad service and the food was not the best.

Came to this restaurant because the view across the Firth of Forth is stunning. The waiting staff were excellent, attentive and informative. The portions were more than generous and so tasty. We will definitely return again and again.

Good food big helpings, friendly staff, be sure to book in the morning or night before as it is a very busy restaurant

The food and service were excellent. I had the grid iron steak on the first night and the chef's steak pie on the second, both were amazing. I had porridge and scrambled eggs on the sunday prior to leaving at breakfast. It was amazing.

Wonderful food, great view, very comfortable seating and plush modern setting and good service. What more can you say, would recommend to everyone.

Visited here for lunch during tier 3 restrictions. Cosy and welcoming with views to die for. Staff all amazing. Friendly and efficient. The food was tasty and very well priced. Only thing that would make this place better is a glass of wine when restrictions...

Had been before and had good service and lovely fresh scones. This time on Friday in June took a friend out for cream tea as she's mostly housebound and wanted to treat her. Found out friend didn't like scones though! On previous occasions had ordered Cream tea (which includes tea not cappuccino) but they just added the difference to the bill but this time we had to pay for each item separately. Also as friend didn't like scones asked for a plate of sandwiches (2) which could be shared. Asked for egg mayo & curried chicken which normally comes with crisps and salad garnish. We just wanted some sandwich triangles (which they had done before). Cappuccinos were lovely (enjoyed by all 3 of us). Scones x 2 were heated in the microwave!!! Clotted cream & jam nice. Sandwiches (which we paid £9.90 for 2 without any crisps or garnish and still charged at full price) were terrible. No flavour - how can a restaurant go wrong with coronation chicken and egg mayo?? (All 3 persons were disappointed). Even adding salt didn't improve the blandness! Overcharged for tasteless sandwiches and microwaved scones. Barman a bit brusque and we won't be back - which is a shame as we have been numerous times before with more in the party and were treated better, had tastier food and more reasonably priced. The lady who cleared out table was nice and chatty though.

Seated at table overlooking Forth towards Edinburgh was just fantastic. Excellent food and first class service. Went straight for the main meal and my wife had the salmon which she said was perfectly cooked. I opted for the chicken with haggis and this also was delicious. Both dishes accompanied with potato and vegetables. My wife went for the sticky toffee pudding and bailey's ice cream and I could tell by the look on her face that this got a huge thumbs up. I went for the cheeseboard which consisted of 4 Scottish cheeses, oatcakes, chutney, grapes and celery. Well worth the extra £2.50 from the 2 course menu which cost £21.95 each. In fact I would say that this is probably the best cheeseboard I have ever been served and was even better than Miller and Carters offering which I thought would never be beaten. Excellent dining experience.

We called in for tea at about 16:50. The restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated politely and efficiently. The drink order was taken as we sat and by the time the drinks were served we had decided on a burger, fish and chips and the curry of the day. The mains took around 25-30 minutes to arrive which isn't great considering the place wasn't exactly busy. The food was pretty average, my only complaint was a side salad served with fish and chips, drenched in mustard dressing and laden with raw onions isn't exactly a great accompaniment. After finishing, we decided we would like a dessert. Despite the restaurant being quieter than when we arrived, no member of staff came to clear our table, enquire if our meals were okay, check if we wanted more drinks or see if we wanted dessert. After about 20 minutes of trying to get someone's attention I got up and asked a waiter for the bill. The last time we visited this place was about 2 years ago. It's nice to see the service hasn't improved (deliberate sarcasm there). We won't make the same mistake again.

Nothing to complain about here. Big platefulls of standard fayre at reasonable cost served with a smile Lovely views from the restaurant

Disfrutamos de una comida muy sabrosa aquí el viernes por la noche y volví el sábado con un familiar para probar el menú sin gluten. Todas las comidas realmente era deliciosa y el servicio de un personal amable y servicial. Todo rematado con unas vistas preciosas de la bahía frente a Pettycur Edimburgo, con los puentes de Forth en la distancia.

Fuimos para el almuerzo tarde. Mi mujer pidió un té con leche que servían casi inmediatamente, y era de muy buena calidad. Mi pollo burger tomó otro 25 minutos en llegar y cuando llegó estaba muy caliente, sabroso y una decente ayudando, así que no tengo quejas sobre la comida. Las mesas eran lentos para aprobarse a pesar de que el restaurante estaba bastante.

we found it difficult to understand why this restaurantgets good ratings as we found the food not very appealing and the service needs to improve, a dated facility that needs to be massively upgraded, a little smile might help as well

I was there twice last year visiting my sister at her caravan.It was facing the park,The kid's loved playing at the park.The swimming was great too.We went to Horizon restaurant a few time,The food was amazing,the staff were very helpful.I hope to be back visiting friends this year,I love Pettycur bay,And hope to retire there one day:))

Fuimos allí un par de veces ya que vivimos local. La comida del restaurante es fresco y no calentados, gustos terrible. Mi pollo tenía agujeros, envió, el personal era genial. El restaurante zona parece que no ha sido renovado desde la década de los 80.

El menú sencillo en un pub muy bien hecho. Vistas preciosas de Pettycur Bay. Tome un paseo a lo largo de la playa antes de ir al restaurante para el almuerzo.
