Horeston Grange Fish Bar in Nuneaton and Bedworth

Had scampi and chips. The scampi was lovely. Juicy and moist covered in crispy batter. Did not need the salad and the chip portion was huge. Will ask for less next time.

Tonight, well, not very good.Like warm overcooked scallops, rubbery batter on the fish and an age to get served.Still our "Go to" chip shop, and 9/10 times, it's excellent.Tonight was that one visit that wasn't spectacular and no reflection on Alex and his excellent staff, I will always continue to use it, but tonight, after a long week at work, was below their usually high standards.

On arrival the young lad was lovely took my order for Nuggets in preparation for my order. Get to the till and the young women who took my order was beyond slow leaving my children meals out getting cold whiles she messed around getting my sauce together and my meal. My daughter is Dairy free so asked if the sausage was free from the young lad was extremely helpful went to check. On packing I noticed the young girl had wrapped a battered sausage so ask her before taking my food she removed it from the bag and no refund was offer at this point I just walked away at this as it was pointless mess around whilst my food gets cold. I won't return as food was luke warm and just felt at the end of a long day going to the chippy would be a faster option but it wasn't in this case

This fish and chip shop has good quality food and there is hardly a queue whenever we go in, and when there is the staff are very quick on serving food! Would definitely recommend!

Have used the fish and chip shop a few times and never been disappointed. Very tasty chips and fish cooked to perfection.

Having booked online (AS TOLD/ASKED) twice before, guess what, we ordered online at 17:45. - Order acknowledged and 40 minutes wait time posted. Fine.My wife set-off and duly arrived well in time but chaas seem to ensue and people who had online ordered AND walk-in orders were seemingly thrown together with queues etc. all over the place - awful! Despite making a number of calls to people who were allegedly "managing" this, it was pandemonium. And to be told 90 MINUTES LATER "You can see we're busy love but have a go if you want" was red-rag to the bull. The whole idea of online ordering is so this is managed and doesn't happen - total idiocy and complete incompetence!! Won't be using them, ever again - hopeless !! People who had ordered online were actually leaving without their food such was the complete and utter mis-management. Don't bother folks - other chippys in town are better managed by a country mile.. I'm only posting one star as there is nothing less than that !!!

The food was so bad that as I’m typing this my mother is being sick. The taste was horrible the worst we have ever had from Nuneaton. Nearly all the food has been put in the bin. Sorry to say but we will never ever be using the Fishnet again.

Good fish and chips. Has to be careful though on one or two visits the standard has slipped. Expect to queue at busy times

We last used this chippy 4 months ago and it wasn’t a good experience sadly as we were regulars. This is a new year and thought we’d give it another chance, we wasn’t disappointed this time. The shop was busy and there were people waiting for collections as they do just eat and deliveroo, we had our order and took it home.There was a good portion of chips in all the boxes and my fish did fill the whole of the batter unlike before.We will be back, not weekly as we are trying to be healthier and actually I’ll try the grilled fish next time.

Only place in the town that I know that sells battered plaice. Sold to order. Beautifully cooked, drained to ensure minimum fat retained in the thin batter. That said the plaice is a flat fish so there is a lot of batter. The 2 of us had a medium chips. A small would have been adequate - we ate the chips which were not greasy and survived the trip home. They do deliver through Deliveroo.

Called in about 5.30 pm. A bit of queue in front of me and a bit of a wait for stuff to cook BUT that meant fryer fresh chips and crispy cod - well worth the wait !

We used to have a chippy tea every Friday but since the shop now has its 3rd new management it’s gone to pot.This was the first visit in about 5 weeks and today the place was run by just the young staff!My fish was disgusting! It was over cooked, the batter was thick and hard and I’m sure it wasn’t even a whole size of fish!My husband asked the girl twice for peas with his fish and chips and never got them!We will be going elsewhere from now on!

Bloody rubbish- haven’t visited for a while, on arrival 6 people waiting, no one serving more interested in phone orders to get ready. Ok with phone orders but what about people who visit the chippy to collect lunch/dinnerThe chips were cold and not very nice, fishcake ok but again cold, large fish just adequate. Not worth the cost, won’t be visiting again. Weddington chippy much better

Since the new owners took over the quality of the food and service haas greatly improved. The fish is good quality and well cooked. The chips are good too.

I first came to this lovely chipshop when I moved here 6 months ago and I have got to say it was the best chips I have ever tasted. My family also agreed. We have used it for the last 6 months and I would never go anywhere else. The staff were lovely and tidy. The shop absolutely spotless. I fully reccomend to anyone. Never had a bad meal. I will continue to use this chip shop in the future.

Just popped in for a cone of chips and a can of pop, £1.00 for can of Pepsi ? and the WORST chips I have ever had, they were so bad I even took them back to the chip shop put them on the counter and said " they are the worst chips I ever had in my life" and walked out, I couldn't even be bothered to get my money back absolutely awful ..... can home told my husband and he said I told you it was awful I had sausage and chips from there a few months ago and couldn't eat it ... I had forgottenYuck never again

Had to put a review on here for The Fishnet in Horeston Grange. The staff are fantastic always happy and friendly. The food is to die for. Cooked fresh and always piping hot. Quick and fast service. Excellent all round. Alex and Anastasia well done to you both. The best chippy for miles. Well worth a bit of a travel for the quality of the food.

Lovely place, helpful and clean staff, polite and happy. Alex runs a successful chippy. Prices a tad steep, BUT you get value for money.............most of the times.Try and get in before 7.30pm, as after that, the chips just sit there until sold. Had a few portions where the chips were Luke warm and dry. Other times, they are superb, but a couple of times mid-week after 7.45pm, chances are the chips won't be as fresh as other times.Won't stop me visiting, easily the best around.

Good quality food served by cheerful and efficient staff. Food is always ready. Gets very busy at teatime and the queue is quickly processed.

Popped in one evening and ordered three different souvlakis for the family - chicken, pork and lamb in pittas. They were cooked to order on the chargrill and all succulent and very tasty. Chips were excellent too. The staff were friendly and the shop was spotless, will definitely be returning!

I came to the fishnet just for a simple dinner but was surprised at how brilliant the food was. The service was just as great as the person serving me was bright and happy asking me how my day was and seeming very interested in how I was. A great change from the usual dry and depressing McDonalds server. I ordered a large fish and chips costing £6 which is a great price considering it was one of the best bits of takeout food I've ever had. The fish was delicious and the chips were great too! Overall a great experience and I shall be going back again very soon! Would recommend this place to anyone, thank you for the great service!

Had a portion of faggots for £1.20. No gravy and two mouthfuls! Ridiculous scam. ( see photo). Medium portion of chips not much better but at least they were fresh.

We had the best fish and chip takeaway tonight. If it had been this standard for a normal order we would have been pleased, but to have had that number of portions, all of such top quality was fantastic. Fish was crispy and hot and the chips were hot and scrumptious. A credit to the Fishnet staff on Horeston Grange. Well done. All our family were really impressed. Many thanks.

Asked for steak pie, chips and peas for my son and gluten free chips for myself. While waiting for the g/f chips to cook I saw the assistant get my sons order together and she put a silver foiled pie in. I knew the steak pies were in a black foil case so when I went to get my order I said "that is steak pie you have put in isn't it?", to which she replied "yes". When we got home he had been given steak and kidney which he doesn't like. Not cheap either to be throwing out. Will think twice about buying from there again. Staff need training as to what the products are and aim to get it right. Wouldn't mind but I questioned her about it and presumed I had got it wrong. Usually a good place but standards are slipping when the boss is not around.

Nice food but I found the portions much smaller than our previous chip shop in Tamworth 'the dug out'. I'm not a particularly big eater but I found myself still a little hungry after a mixed kebab and chips.

When the new owners took over the fish and chips were really good compared to what they had been before but tonight the chips were very bad. The portions have been made smaller as well. The fish was also much smaller and the batter was not as nice as it has been. We are really disappointed and will have to look for somewhere else to go.

Since this chip shop was taken over by the current owners I can only praise the food it is selling. Delicious, the chips are the best in Nuneaton as far as I'm concerned. My partner and I are very fond of your Chicken Souvlaki in particular, your staff are really friendly and it's always very clean. Definitely our go to chippy.

Great quality food and service with a smile. A massive improvement from the previous proprietary. It is nice to see the hard work that they put in paying off for them. A must visit for the fish and chip lovers of us.

Was so happy when new owners took over - had lovely haddock and chips freshly cooked (didn't mind waiting for the excellent quality), but tonight is a different story. I think this is because it was recooked - so ended up with dry fish and rubbery batter and even the chips were a bit hard inside but soft on outside - have thrown most of this in the bin and will be reluctant to visit again now.

The new shop is nice, but very small portions. Had kebab quality was nice but it was like a child's size dinner. Very expensive for very small potions

Not long been in this area so thought I'd try the souvlaki, I can honestly say it's amazing! The staff are fantastic and have great customer service! Will be visiting again! Well done! 👌

..... Who seem to have industrialized the friendly family run chippy this used to be. Gone are the gargantuan portions to be replaced by stingy portions and higher prices. Avoid and head elsewhere

Lovely new owners who have bought us the best Fish and chip shop in this area, beautiful cod, great staff and very clean.

Newly refurbished and under new management the prices have dropped and the food is better the size of the large fish amazing great value for money he even offers gluten free batter and vinegar

This place is so much better. Staff always look clean and presentable. Food is excellent and always so busy.

My favourite chippy from bulkington took over my local chippy and standards are just as high. Friendly, polite clued up staff and great quality food. Highly recommended.

Best chip shop around. Portions are huge. Meal is tasty. Staff are really friendly and superfast. My favourite place to eat.

The problem with this place is the young staff. If you are unfortunate enough to be served by one of the teenage staff be prepared to go hungry. Order regular chips and there is barely enough to feed one person. Order a large and you'll get about 10 chips more than a regular..it's a joke. If possible try and get served by the owners, they will give you more chips than you can eat! I just wish they would monitor the teenagers servings and tell them to increase the portion sizes they serve. The food is great though and chips are nearly always fresh from the fryer.

This is a very convenient place for me so I do visit regularly. It is clean with a good and varied menu.I am quite picky about my chips - I hate it when they are cooked in poor quality old oil and repeatedly re - heated. However, the chips here always seem very good and fresh.Having said that, the service here is pretty poor. They seem to cook most things (including chips!) to order, giving rise to long queues and a long wait. It is quite common to be waiting in there for more than 15 minutes. There have been a few times I gave up and went elsewhere. I thought fish and chips were 'fast food'!

Great fish and chips really close to many houses! Good location and a really nice meal! Wide variety of choice in the menu and short waiting times with fresh food cooked.

Put off by the appearance of the assistant who served us. The pies we purchased at 5.00 pm we left over from lunchtime. the filling was dry and shrivelled and the pastry was burned and solid. I suspect the lure of this place is quantity over quality. The chips we heavy and dry, but there was a lot of them.

We often buy takeaway chips (with pies, sausages or fish) from this shop. The food is always very good.

Been here a few times, I must say the family that run it are very pleasant indeed, but there is no urgency at all. I have joined a queue of about 8 people, and 15 minutes later, I get served. That is pretty poor. I have seen people leave and go elsewhere they are fed up of waiting.Product is good, and a fair price, but I wish they would show some enthusiasm to at least work a tad faster.A clean and inviting chippy, it must be said.

I am compelled to add a note or two about the excellent food and service you get at the Horeston Grange Fish Bar.Unlike many traditional fish and chip shops, their range is really good and not greasy! A family of four can eat well for around £10 and the portions are excellent. They have a great range of pies, fish, sausages, kebabs and meat-free menu options. A particular treat is the salad kebab which comes in the usual form as a regular kebab but without the meat! This is a family-run business and you can really tell, they want to serve you good food and treat you well.
