I had a lovely first visit to Hopwood House. Our server Aidan was amazing, they made us feel so welcome and it was literally like we’d just popped in to visit a friend. Aidan was so kind, funny and attentive. It took an average experience to one to write home about. Anywhere can do good food but to have a server like Aidan really is what makes somewhere special.

We went as a group of 4 and the meal was terrific. We had the mixed plate starter with halloumi fries and then chicken burgers. The burgers were juicy and crispy at the same time. The service we received was very good also, I believe the young mans name was hareesh. Hats off 👍🏼

Went at lunch time for a friends birthday, had a fantastic meal (fish and chips) so decided to take different friends the following week, very disappointed could have played cricket with the fish it was so hard and all batter with little fish , my husband had gammon and egg arrived cold with a hard egg , very short staff so nobody came to check if everything was OK, such a shame thought we had found a nice place to eat 😢

Thanks Ashleigh for looking after us. We had a great meal. Three courses, wine, beers, coffees. Service was faultless. Food was great. Good value too. I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday meal.

Every time we go, food is always great, staff really friendly , helpful and do there job very well. We had a lovely waitress Chloe, everyone makes you very welcome. Even though busy service was 100%. Will definitely recommend to friends

The most tasty Sunday dinner I have had in a long time. Portion sizes excellent and lovely warm and friendly atmosphere. If I am ever in the area again I would make a bee line for the Hopwood.

Greeted at the main door with a death stare as though we had done them a disservice by even turning up. Not a single member of staff looked like they wanted to be there nor did they want the customers there. Felt like effort asking for food, sauces and drinks. Food was average and overpriced. Wanted dessert but the atmosphere was so diabolical that we didn’t bother. I have seen better service in prison canteens.

Put into seating area which was promptly, followed by a family with small noisy children. We immediately got up and left Why did they not place us over the other side of the restaurant away from them?

Always great food and service here, a favourite place to go when we are in the area. Food is always good and a beautiful location

The Hopwood provides good pub food. We have found that service and food have been consistently good over several years. There is a large car park and while access directly from the car park is up a flight of steps there is flat access to the front. The welcome is satisfactory and the pub is clean and tidy with a pleasant ambience. There is outside seating. While we have always been walkins if you plan to go at a busy time or for a special occasion booking might be beneficial. The service was very good and the food is good pub food served hot on hot plates. We return every year and look forward to our visit.

This is a pub with a good selection of draft beer and a reasonable menu. Nothing fancy, but the food was wholesome and the prices reasonable. Service was a bit patchy, as they seemed to be short of staff, but the staff were cheerful and friendly.

Ben here a few times and it works well. Today I was served by an outstanding young lady called Kat who was very professional but also great fun. Genuinely one of the best waitresses ever and I eat out many times a week all over UK

Called in on the off chance and as ever the hopwood delivered and succeeded all expectations in finding us a table, The landlady is fantastic and always very welcoming and the driving force behind the excellent team, The food was fantastic as usual. Will be back very soon

The Steak & Ale Pie was one of the best we have tasted. Everything including the Salad with the Balsamic Glaze was so good. Will definitely be returning.

Visited for my wife's birthday with family. Booked, and shown straight to our reserved table. Although we had booked, we were immediately told there would be a 30 minute wait for food, which was a little disappointing. However, our waitress was very jolly, and attentive. Food was prepared well and was very tasty. Probably a little cramped for my liking, but we all had an enjoyable time, and I would be happy to visit again.

Been twice now. Great place, great food, very helpful staff, reasonably priced. Clean. Good portions.

Sunday meal after a morning of boating. Lovely food. Pricey but good table service and very friendly. My dad and partner met us there for a family meal.
