Very friendly staff. We were quickly shown to our table, plenty of choice on the menu and food was prompt, fresh and hot .We both very much enjoyed our dinner here and will be returning again.

Had the Christmas menu which was bang on. Really nice atmosphere and staff were really friendly. Would definitely come again.

The pub setting was beautiful, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty, well presented and there was a good variety of food and drink on offer. We really enjoyed ourselves.

We were a party of thirteen, food was lovely, piping hot. Waiting staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. This was our second Christmas meal with you. See you in December 2024 for a re-run.

I used to enjoy visiting this place many years ago, but I think it's lost its sparkle. Uninspiring menu, so I had scampi and chips. Cooked fine but difficult to get wrong. In my opinion this place is okay to have a drink in but if you want an interesting menu to choose from then don't go. Left feeling very disappointed.

It is a very welcoming pub, really friendly staff, prompt service and food was excellent. Would definately recommend.

The music that evening was definitely extremely loud to a stage couldn’t speak properly to anyone which is a shame

Found this place and wow what a surprise.Good food and great value.Has a lunch menu which was our option Starter of mushrooms appeared very quickly,makes of them!Piping hot really good.We both went for fish delicious. Very good value indeed.Food served quickly by staff Do go it's really good value

Busy, busy, busy! Obviously, a very popular pub! Staff were polite, service was quick and efficient, food was hot and good.. A place to eat if you're pushed for time perhaps, rather than a lingering visit..

Sat in bar area as we hadnt booked for restaurant. There was 4 Tables FULL of dirty plates and glasses .Asked a member of staff if someone could clear a table for us. Another member of staff crawled over at a snails pace about 5 minutes of waiting and took 2 plates off 1 of the tables .Glasses and cutlery left .Table not wiped or any of the orhers cleared .Ended up cleaning our selves. There were other people complaining too. Mentioned it to the person I originally spoke ,telling them how tables weren't cleared and had done it our selves and that we wasn't impressed with how dirty it all was. He was totally dismissive. The only plus side was the bar man who was efficient and pleasant. WONT !!! be going back in hurry NOT the first time disappointed 😕

Nice food well cooked, & served still hot.

Booked table for 7 for 8pm to 10:30pm arrived just before 8pm and told kitchen closed at 8pm no mention on website so rushed food order.had food and paid bill went to bar for drinks asked for more drinks at 9:45 and told bar closed at 9:30pm.seemed to prefer catering for customers who weren’t there as opposed to customers who were there so having used the pub for a number of years we will now go elsewhere.

We were greeted by a lovely staff member who very thoughtfully said you've been allocated this table but it may be a little drafty as it's a cold night...she took us to another table which was fabulous and by a radiator! We had drinks which arrived promptly and within no time we were given menus and our food was ordered. My friend Tina chose the gammon and i ordered the special chicken with red peppers and chorizo. They were both very descent portions, nice and hot and delicious, also beautifully presented...condiments were offered ...it really was lovely...We were offered the desert menus but declined as were so full although we did have coffees, again they were bought to our table quickly and were nice large cups! The bill was paid with a 30% discount added that I'd had sent to my email...absolutely fabulous...couldn't fault any of our evening ...it was a lovely homely experience, with first class service, we plan to return again soon with our families! Updated following second visit. My meal was was awful; sirloin steak was the worst quality meat I've ever encountered. Tough and flavourless and very badly cooked. The fruit crumble was shockingly bad too. How can apple and cherry fruits be made to taste of nothing? So disappointed. The scoop of vanilla ice cream was the only nice thing out of a 2 course, (& not cheap dinner out), I enjoyed, and I'm not a picky eater! With food this inconsistent, I would not go back. Friendly staff. Shame.

Firstly we ordered drinks,and was told a bottle of wine was £16,when we got the bill it was just under £19. When our food came it was brought out in delayed stages.first our scampi/ chips and 5 minutes later our salad. Our friends got theres a good 5 minutes before ours.We were offered no condiments....and the scampi was a little hard. Puddings were very expensive with tiny portions., not worth £6.50 for a banoffo pudding and that was the size slightly bigger than a scoop of ice cream.

Lovely welcome when we entered, starters were very tasty, main meals superb, had good banter with the staff, no puddings as we were all full after our meals, nice atmosphere and good music being played in the background, wanted to get up and have a dance.

It's homely,the people who work there are extremely helpful & friendly & the food is excellent & good value for money too,I will be recommending this venue to all my family & friends.

We booked an area of the pub for 22 guests (birthday party) for 6.30pm and were assured that despite the numbers, no pre-orders were required. On our arrival we were met by Amy who was incredibly friendly and welcoming even offering to assist with the various decorations we had brought with us. On arrival of the guests we had plenty of time to chat and sort ourselves out with enough space to be seated comfortably. On ordering, the food arrived in good time and eveybody I spoke to on the subject was impressed with the quality and quantity of the food which was hot and tasty. One thing that does need to be addressed is that the chain advertises itself as dog friendly however enquiries made by a guest of the staff revealed that they were not allowed to bring their 8 week old puppy along. Overall an excellent venue with a lovely ambience and tremendous staff. Will definitely visit again

Tried this place for the first time for a quick lunch. It's a large pub which is quite welcoming and well decorated and maintained. The service was very good and as quick as you'd like. Somewhat surprised about some of the rave reviews about the quality of the food, as it's fairly standard pub quality. There are some pubs that serve first class food, this isn't one of them. It does of course depend on what you're accustomed to. My wife ordered a sweet with cream but, looking at the "cream" as it dissolved infront of our eyes, it clearly came out of a can. If this is what you like to eat, and you enjoy basic fare, well cooked and presented, then you'll probably enjoy a meal here.

Lovely pub. Excellent service and meals

After 6 months without a catchup my best friend & myself decided to find somewhere a little more special to meet up than our usual haunts. Having checked the menu, there was no disputing this was the place for us. With diary requirements always a concern when picking somewhere to eat, the menu here was perfect. A lot of choice and very appealing. Our request was met and we were greeted warmly and sat in the perfect place. The interior of the pub is also a warm one. The decor and furnishings definitely make you feel comfortable to the point you don't really want to leave. The staff seem very professional and helpful and not once did we feel we were being rushed to hurry our eating experience which meant we could make our long overdue catchup one to remember. The food was spot on, cooked and presented nicely ! The cost about average, although not as expensive as some places we've eaten at. Will definitely visit more often and will highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere descent to eat at. Can't really fault our experience at all.

Racially profiled - my mother took money out of the cash point to treat us and when we were paying they kept looking at us, allegedly they had received a number of “fake” £50 notes - I asked the lady if she used a pen etc and she said no, no establishment that handles money should not have this available and would actually help with their issues, I will be discussing this experience on social media but we will not be returning JUST TO ADD - if they DO NOT take £50, they would of not TAKEN the bill and stated it there so again, white people trying to gaslight black people to get away with racism

I was part of a very large group (24 customers) who had a table booked for 7pm on Saturday night for a 50th birthday celebration. We started to gather around the bar from around 6.30. Our reserved tables were still occupied by other guests but this was no problem at all, we had some drinks and waited for everyone to arrive. At 7pm our tables were ready so we started to decide who was sitting where and headed to our tables. At this point a man appeared who I presume may have been the manager, he was clutching a pen and paper following us around and demanding to take our food orders “because the chefs need to go home” I am sorry but we were collectively spending a lot of money on food and drinks and didn’t not appreciate someone standing over our shoulders at 7.10 asking what we were eating before we were even all seated. I have worked many years in hospitality and I can appreciate a large table can be stressful to manage but we were given no time at all to settle and look at the menu. Why tell us the chef wants to go home?! Why is that our issue? If you were short staffed then have a polite word asking if we don’t mind trying to get our orders in quickly cos you are a chef down. There is a nicer way to word things instead of glaring at us waving a pad and pen making us feel like we were an inconvenience. The drinks service was great, the food came out quickly and was hot and well prepared as usual and the rest of the staff were lovely and friendly. I just feel the need to leave a review about feeling harassed into hurrying up our food order when the place wasn’t that busy and it’s totally normal to give people at least 20 minutes to find our seats and look at the menu without someone hovering over our shoulders asking what we wanted all the time. Shame really cos it was a lovely evening and a great venue for a get together apart from that.

NO DOGS ALLOWED INSIDE. Having been here before and having no issues we have chosen to book here for an upcoming family meal. Having heard mixed information about if dogs are allowed or not I decided to call the pub to check. Despite their website advertising that they are dog friendly I have been told today that due to a manager having allergies they will now turn away dogs. This is very disappointing, especially given that the website still states dog are welcome. Their loss, I’ll take my money and my dog elsewhere.

This is a lovely oub- we had booked for 5 of us and I had a 30% discount on mains. We were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our table. She was great and had a good rapport with us. Our order for drinks was taken and we ordered our food soon after. 3 lots if gammon, one hunters chicken and one of our group had a starter with some chips as a main. Cost was about £14 a head with the discount- fantastic value. We are all quite old but managed the steps at the side of the pub. We had used the disabled spaces at the back of the pub. A very large car park. This is a pub that we will return to soon. It is so pleasant- easily accessible near Hopwood services on the M42. It is also close to the canal and I think it would be great for a walk and a pub visit. A lovely pub with atmosphere.

Family Sunday lunch today. A great place to meet up and relax with good food and drinks. Great staff. We always look forward to going back.

Racially profiled - my mom wanted to treat us to a Sunday dinner, took out money of the cashpoint prior to driving here - the manager and sales associate kept on staring at us, and came over stating that because they have had a number of “fake notes” they wouldn’t be able to take it, I asked if she had a pen which you should if you handle cash and she stated no, so not only did they ruin our family meal - they’ve also racially profile a family of 3. Absolutely disgusting and we will not be returning

Notwithstanding that it says on their website that dogs are allowed in the bar this is not the case. Don’t make a wasted trip as we did.

The food was fantastic, and our server, Amy, was wonderful. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, showing real attention to detail in the kitchen. The menu had a great variety, catering to all tastes, and everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Amy was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, helping us with thoughtful recommendations that we loved. Her warm personality made the experience even better. The ambiance was cozy yet vibrant, creating a perfect setting for a memorable meal. We can’t wait to return and try more of what they have to offer!

PRESENTLY CANNOT BRING DOGS INSIDE - DESPITE WEBSITE SAYING YOU CAN. Due to staff allergy they can't permit dogs inside, but the website is managed by head office. Must be draining for staff to have to turn away customers. We ate outside as it was a sunny day and the food and service were great.

A very lovely pub with great foot and a warm fun atmosphere

Lovely visit to the Hopwood once again, food great as always and had a new server who was brilliant. Think her name was Elle, she was working hard all night by the looks of it but was efficient and always on hand if needed. Karl the duty manager was also on and he came over to check on us as he always does, had a cast on his arm but was still helping staff clear tables.

Had really looked forward to having a Sunday roast only to arrive to be told had sold out and half the menu was off as a brake down with a fryer so not a lot to choose from but will say the meals we chose where not too bad and the sweets where good . service was top marks couldn't fault it yes it was a shame didn't get my Sunday roast but there are other Sundays will just book a table early next time and there will be another time would recommend the hopwood with a full menu or not

Use this place for quite a few reasons , service, value for money ,great menu, you are made to feel like you are a member of the family , not a custom, there are few companies who could take a lesson from them

Service was very quick, felt the servers were a bit all over the place due to the speed, but overall food was lovely, I’m gluten free and it was very accommodating and staff were lovely, will be visiting again soon

Booked a table for four. We were expected and had a nice meal and drinks. Hopwood is not our local but a useful point to meet up with the family. Always been very happy with the experience

We come here regularly and the past few times we've had a great time. We recently booked a few tables for a memorial for a family member. Sharon and Amy were very attentive and friendly. Food was lovely and sent out in a timely manor. We will be visiting again, thank you :)

Big party, 21 of us and apart from one meal I know of being sent back it was fab. Service and meals were great. Shaz has been there for a while and it is nice to see the brewery has stuck with her and partner. Would recomdend,!!!

We came with family for Sunday lunch, most of the meals were excellent, really nicely cooked, 3 of us had ordered roast pork with crackling only there was no crackling but we mentioned it and they brought a bowl of crackling out for us to share, one of our party wasn't enjoying their chicken meal off the specials menu and they swiftly changed it for something different which they then enjoyed so I really can't fault them for service and attentiveness.

Had to eat in the bar area which was dismal and impractical. Tables didn’t suit more than 2 diners. (There were more than 2 of us) You order your food at the bar, Collect your own cutlery and condiments!!!! And yet you pay the same price for your meal as you would if you were dining in the restaurant and experiencing table service? Food was very poor. The quality, portion size, and presentation lacked imagination. We returned one of the meals but it was replaced with a very sad replica. In truth the service and food quality resembled that of a well know pub chain. The difference being the price!!! With the Hopwood House you pay a premium price for a very poor dining experience. 3 stars for the pub itself!!

Great food, but disappointed that there are no spit roast chickens there anymore, it's what we went for.

I booked for 20 people for my son’s 18th birthday & Shaz at the Hopwood inn was amazing. So helpful, organised, accommodating & friendly. Made it a great experience as well as very tasty food. Couldn’t have asked for better service.

Amazing service, managed to squeeze us in at one of the bar seats even on a busy Sunday when I had failed to plan in advance and book. Food was amazing and the staff were amazing. Will definitely return.

It didn't start too well as where our table was it was quite cold, and when we asked if we could move, we were told all the other tables were booked so we'd have to sit in the bar area where there's no table service. After mentioning it to the manager, I think it was he changed our table over and put us opposite the fire in the restaurant area... The food was great and the service was great

We have had a lovely meal this evening at the Hopwood. Our waitress Jess was so accomodating with my son who is coeliac and quite a fussy eater. He ate everything which made going out for dinner so much more enjoyable! Thanks again Jess!

Been the Hopwood a couple of times now, food is okay! The reason for the 1* review is cause of the Bar Manager *tall bold ginger beard guy! Service is shocking! Very rude! Every time we have been here and he is on shift the atmosphere is poor! His body language looks like he doesn’t enjoy his job the way he speaks to customer is foul! We were ordering drinks and his comment was: NO MORE DRINKS we are closing I’m on my own! This was at 9:45! He should not be on front of house, we left and went to another place that made us feel more welcomed!

Service poor had to ask if there was a specials menu. Abrupt service. Waited for drinks had to ask a second time for them. Told the place closed at 10.00 when it clearly stated on their site closing at 11.00. Door to car park was shut and told to leave by another door that led to a poorly lit pathway to said car park.

A busy Saturday night (which should not come as a surprise) meal with friends. Food was ok, calamari starter was a little over done and rubbery. Mains went fairly well, however the burgers were a little over cooked, and the french fries were very oily/difficult to eat. Service was ok if you like to be left alone, but having to ask twice or even three times for extra drinks and be left without was quite poor. Even towards the end of the evening, after the place had emptied it was difficult to catch anyone's attention for coffees and ultimately the bill. We ended up paying at the bar so we could leave. We've been before and had a totally different (very positive) experience, so hoping it was just an off night with being so busy.

Didn’t even get through the door as we had a dog which stated on the website dogs welcome, needs to be changed, also I had made a reservation which stated we had a dog nobody called to tell us that dogs weren’t allowed inside. WILL NOT RETURN man was also aggressive towards us & didnt initially apologise!
