We had booked but they had lost our booking but they managed to find us a table. The food was as you would expect but a little pricey for pub food and as it was a celebration dinner we were very disappointed with the offering.

Owners/ tenants very rude and abusive following a legitimate complaint about the food that was served. Having been to many restaurants around the world I have never experienced such an attitude and foul language from a pub/restaurant management in all my life, who clearly are in the wrong business.

We stayed recently, very disappointed, bar and food advertised, there was neither.. The licence holder was away, hence no food or bar. We were not informed, the hotel has my email, but didn’t inform us. Breakfast was between 8 and 9 due to the chef having to go to her next job. Very unhappy with our stay.

I have to say it that the time we spent here was amazing, we upgraded to have a room overlooking the bay and it was brilliant. The owner (steve) and the staff were so welcoming and it was a lovely homely atmosphere. We had a meal in the night in the restaurant below (The Fire Pit) and again all I have to say "Amazing" the food was cooked exactly as we asked it to be cooked and there was more than plenty of it. The breakfast was perfect all freshly cooked and really lovely.

We had been looking forward to eating here for a while and whilst the staff were friendly and attentive, the food unfortunately was not good at all. I had lamb on a stick which hung from the ceiling (fun and novel) and my husband had steak on a stick however the meat was very tough and it went cold really quickly. Chips were fine, garlic potatoes lacked any real flavour. I don't usually put reviews on here, certainly never a bad one but felt given how expensive our meal was I felt I should. Like I said staff were great such a shame the food didn't match their standards!

I went there thinking that it’s a place your guaranteed good food with bad service which is acceptable. But I ordered a burger which was dry and chips which was okay. So then I decided to have a cheesecake for pudding. My cheesecake came and I got my spoon and went to eat it then the spoon wouldn’t go through it. It was frozen with Ice on the bottom, I was very disappointed so I called the waitress and she said it is a ice cream cheesecake. So I double checked the menu and it said it said nothing of the such. They had swerved me a frozen cheesecake and I said to my family let’s pay and go and we will never return disappointing.

Managed to get a table on busy Bank holiday. Staff very friendly and place recently renovated to a Fire Pit.The menu was varied with mainly meat but some fish. We had smothered nachos to share as a starter with a bottle of Sauvignon blanc. For mains I chose belly pork ribs in five spices with triple fried chips and side salad which was astounding!! My friend plumped for a burger with cheese and peanut butter, sweet potato fries and salad. Both meals were truly fabulous; exactly as you would expect. From what we saw, the meat cooked on the fire pit looked great and appeared very popular with the many people eating it! Staff were attentive throughout but not intrusive. If I was back in the neighbourhood I would definitely visit again ; a great night out!!

Then nobody was interested in taking a food order. It was a busy evening and we had to be asked to eat in the Cocktail bar, but we would still be sat there waiting for someone to take our order. Terrible way to treat customers, totally ignored and the barmaid in the front bar was so rude when we inquired which way to go to the dining area.

I ate with my family at the Fire Pit and ordered barbecued ribs, sweet potato fries and a side order of mac ‘n’ cheese. The waitress came back after too long - I would estimate 15 minutes - to say they only had one portion of ribs left whereas our party had ordered one and a half. I suggested we have two sets of half ribs. It came about half an hour later on one plate. The waitress asked if we wanted another plate, and then when we said yes slid the other half on to another plate in front of us but did not provide another salad portion. The sweet potato fries were great, the beer was good and I liked the decor, but the mac ‘n’ cheese was overcooked and came in a pool of oil. When the waitress asked how the food was, I noted that the barbecue ribs had no barbecue sauce on and the mac ‘n’ cheese was too oily. The ribs came back with the sauce and the mac ‘n’ cheese came back with slightly less oil. In hindsight, I wished I had refused to take back the mac ‘n’ cheese. The ribs were ok but nothing special - the £5 ribs I have had from Sainsbury’s were less than half the price and infinitely better. When I paid the bill the man at the counter argued that it was busy, but I said that did not excuse serving barbecued ribs with no barbecue sauce. We would certainly never go back.

The menu was interesting but at least four options were no longer available so we both ended up with the fish and thrice cooked chips with homemade tartar sauce. The fish was very good, the chips were good but the tartar sauce had been tarted up too much and this did not improve it from the original - and there was a minuscule portion so we had to ask for more. Overall, our meal was fine but rather over priced. The most interesting thing was that we bumped into the chef in Tesco's just after we'd left because he had run out of ingredients. he was buying McCain's frozen chips - how do these become "thrice cooked" chips?

We dined at the Hope & Anchor Inn after a day of walking on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. The upstairs bar seemed lively with locals; we ate in the restaurant downstairs, which was much quieter. We started with a broccoli and Stilton soup, which sounds iffy but was actually superb! I'm not a big Stilton fan, but this was delicately flavored, attractively served, and creamy, but not too rich at all. My husband then had the Chef's Welsh beef burger, which he really enjoyed. The triple-cooked chips he had as a side were delicious. I had the pulled pork burger, which was disappointing. The pork was nearly tasteless and the accompanying salad greens were too bitter for my tastes. Our bill (soup starter, 2 mains, 1 pint Sharps Doombar, half-pint Strongbow cider) was just over 31 GBP. If I were to return, I'd definitely try their soup of the day and would order the beef burger.

A very friendly pub, popular with the locals. Plus a great little restaurant and then has a few rooms for bed and breakfast too. The pub was very friendly and obviously popular. Friendly staff and good selection of drinks, priced reasonably. Had a meal in the restaurant when again, service was helpful and friendly and the food was tasty, interesting and well cooked. Our room was small but very clean and all of the bed linen was white and spotless. Only negative comments about the room would be the tiny bathroom and the shower head that kept falling off. And there was no hand soap in the bathroom so we had to unpack our gear to get to our soap as soon as we arrived. Due to a strange customer/guest the night before the owners were kept up until five AM (did not affect us as we didn't hear anything) but they were still up in the morning cooking a very nice breakfast a couple of hours later. We turned up late afternoon on a Monday with no booking. We were shown room #1, the last available apparently. It looked comfortable & was clean (though with a distinct smell of bleach) so we decided to stay. Let me be clear - other than the smell, we couldn't fault the inside of the room. We were told that no breakfast would be available & accepted that. Until we asked we weren't told there were no evening meals! It's a bar & restaurant with the dinner menu displayed prominently. We found somewhere else to eat & drink. We wanted to leave around 7am the next morning. Initially told that the owners would be around at that time, however we were eventually given a key to let ourselves out in the morning. Interesting practise to leave guests completely unattended all night.Being a bar we expected some noise, which there was. However we didn't expect a bar brawl with the most horrific language coming up to our room loud & clear!! And I'm no prude when it comes to bad language. I realise it wasn't the fault of the establishment but it took some time to shut down the person causing the disturbance... & I'm quite sure he was not ejected from the bar. To top it off the plumbing is incredibly noisy. Every toilet flush & shower was very loud!Generously I'll say that that I'm sure other rooms, better situated than ours, make for a more pleasant stay.
