I think that maybe we tried this at the wrong time - The lunch menu is considerably shorter and less interesting than the full menu, so maybe we would have been better going in the evening. Having said that though, when you order sausage and chips somewhere, I would imagine that most people would expect to get more than two catering style sausages, and handful of chips for a tenner…! It was extremely disappointing, and I wouldn’t particularly put myself out to go there again. I’m giving it three stars, as the other person with us ordered scampi, which he enjoyed, although to be fair he did get more of a plateful…! The stuff were very nice, and the pub itself is a pleasant place, but I can’t see that I would go back there to eat in a hurry.

This used to be a great little village pub and once did great meals like Sunday roasts but it now mainly serve extremely overpriced ready meals and frozen cooked food!! The pub was once good and had lots of venues of verious different bands and entertainment playing every few weeks but no longer dose this since the change of management I would not recommend this place at all.

Arranged a surprise birthday party at The Ship Inn Trefin with Hayley (Bar Manager) and Sean (Chef). They were both really helpful, as was the owner, Paul. The team were a real pleasure to deal with: approachable, personable, easy-going, efficient, and nothing was too much trouble. The food (in this case a meat chilli, veggie chilli, rice, and lots of accoutrements) is a cut above, it really is. Highly recommended.

Just come back from 6 nights in Trefin at a lovely cottage in the village. This is the only pub in the village and its great, warm and welcoming, dog friendly, very chilled out with good choice of drinks and snacks. We spent every evening here with the kids mostly just having a pint (or 3) and playing pool. On our last night we had dinner here too. Fabulous food and big portions. The locals are friendly, real fires in both rooms (great this time of year) and plenty of games to play. Prices are reasonable and the beer is great (especially the Sea Fury Ale which was superb!).

We are stating very close by, and decided we'd do a circular walk here with our two dogs. Our Visitors Book had lots of comments that the food was good here, so we thought we'd have lunch when we finished our walk. So, we got to the pub just after 12 noon. There was a notice in the window stating that off season, they didn't open till 2pm. So we we decided to go off and look at the lighthouse at Scrumble Head and return later. We arrived back at 2-15. We went in the pub, and picked up the menu, only to be told that it was the evening menu, and they didn't serve lunch during the week. So we left - and won't be returning. As we approached the car park, there was a party of 4 just arriving. I told them about no lunch, and they immediately got back in their car and drove off. So that's probably over £120 worth of revenue thrown away. Why do the flyers in holiday cottages not state this? Sorry guys, you shot yourself in the foot ....

I decided to have my wife's surprise birthday party here last week and they catered for it just perfectly. Great communication from the manger leading up to the party, very friendly staff and great value for money. Thanks again for a brilliant night and hope to be down soon for a bar meal.

Recommended to eat here by campsite owner nearby. Small village pub with cozy bar and restaurant with a large dining area at rear. We booked night before and had table in small restaurant area which was lovely. Ordered beef chilli con carne and hubby ordered bbq pork ribs and bottle of Merlot. Wine was very nice and food was delicious. This is no frills cooking ie no silly lettuce and pointless stuff as adornment (garnish with hot food a personal pet hate of mine) - proper home cooked tasty food. Really enjoyed the chilli which had nice heat but not too spicy and generous portions. Had sticky toffee pudding and hubby had summer fruit crumble, both really delicious. Would definitely recommend and return next time camping in the area.
