Walked all the way from East Grinstead for lunch yesterday because the website says they're open 12 to 3 for lunch. First of all to be told 'have the pork tacos they're amazing' and when my partner went to check it out the chef said we're not serving food until 5pm. I said to the guy behind the bar that the website says 12 to 3 for food and his response to this was 'I'l tell me manager, there's nothing I can do about it! Enough said.

Very small food portions for top money. Chef attempting to make cost savings at every turn. Such a shame as used come here a lot. I hope the extra 50p they saved on ingredients was worth it as we’ll never be back.

Ordinarily a nice place, but Sunday roast is an absolute joke. Mediocre quality and tiny portions. In an attempt to squeeze every penny of profit, child size portions of food are served. Not just the meat, but ridiculous portions of peas and potatoes - things which cost pennies. Always enjoyed this place but never again. Be warned.

An absolute delight of a roast! Perfectly cooked succulent portions of beef brisket, with super fully, crispy roast potatoes, sides of veg with delicious yorkie to top off this plate. Partnered with gravy, full of flavour which going to leave asking for more. Well done to Bon' a potato for providing and preparing such a Sunday roast experience.

I had the "Fat Wills" pop up Mexican food. My advice is to give this a miss. It was average quality, small portions, none of the dressings, served on polystyrene platters. A mistake, not to be repeated.

After seeing the owner in person, him putting it in his diary whilst we were there, speaking to his colleague a week later to firm up details and paying a £100 deposit we secured this venue for a private party. We then booked a band, paid their deposit and sent out all our invites and were encouraged by the owner to ‘keep them coming’. A few weeks later, with 135 acceptances, & some people having booked hotels, we get a short email from the owner (not even the courtesy of a phone call) saying he has double booked, and to send him our bank details to refund the deposit. There was no original offer of compensation or an alternative option in the email. Please be very careful if you are thinking of having an event here. Fortunately we have been able to put someone else off already who was going to use it.

I went to see a rock concert here. What an immense experience. Soft play, formally known as Slaves one of my few absolute favourite bands performed a great set here. Atmosphere was just as rocking as any I've been to watch them, and they have performed at some pretty huge venues. Staff behind the bar were top notch more than enough working there the night and super fast service plus friendly as you want them to be for a good concert experience. Very good place would recommend highly!

Popped over to this pub seeing after eating over the road at Thai smile. Quirky fun place, staff were friendly enough, lovely clean toilets. One of the locals invited me to join them on a free beer taster, as I was with my wine drinking wife I regretfully had to decline, though wished I had when charged £3.70 for a half of the gassy citra fayre, Never know why Craft beer bars are so expensive, especially for a half versus a pint at £6.95 , but as there was no Real Ale available, although there were pumps with no clips on, I maybe should have asked, it was the fizzy overpriced stuff unfortunately. The Mrs said the wine was OK. I’d go again if music was on but would choose carefully, and a different beer. I still think Craft beers are the emperor’s new clothes and the biggest rip of since draught magners had half a pint of Frozen water served with it.

Take of two halves here - the pizza was pretty good - thin, crispy, hot and lots of toppings, but no real crust and cheddar not mozzarella, but overall tasty. the drinks were… well awful. To start, the old fashioned was shaken, so too diluted and served in a martini glass, Cosmo far too citrusy and dry, cranberry juice was swapped for some bitter cordial without telling us before we paid and even though there were only two other tables drinks took an age to come. Wouldn’t really recommend for drinks, unless you want beer.

Visited the Hop Yard this week. We won’t be going again. Made to feel as if we were doing the staff a favour. Beer ok for the men however the cocktails for the girls, advertised on a large board behind the bar, were undrinkable. Returning them the female bar person actually rolled her eyes and smirked. Asking for information regarding the Savignon Blanc the male bar person said” Got me there mate, it’s just a Savignon Blanc”. We appreciate visiting a microbrewery is to experience the beer, but don’t advertise cocktails if you can’t make them! Given this review one star because the girl clearing the glasses was lovely, Chatty, smiling and polite.

Wasn’t great a few years ago, gone downhill further. Apart from the inordinately rude, entitled arrogance of the inept teenagers left to manage the place... -There is zero regard for track and trace -Zero regard for welcoming customers -Clearly ‘underhand’ shenanigans going on in the disgusting unisex toilets -Dubious cleanliness of the staff at the pizza part. (Seen smoking, scratching around in trousers and making pizzas) -No ‘last orders’ just rude shouting and told to leave. Considering the prices, more decorum and staff from a catering background with experience would go a long way before I recommend returning to anyone. Considering what is occurring in the world this place needs a manager who knows what they are doing.

When as a concierge we get guests asking the question "where do you recommend for a night out?" we always have to use a sixth sense as to what that particular guest is looking for. We're overloaded with many great country pubs in this area, either selling fine dining/ gastropub style food, or what we like to call Traditional / unpretentious pub food. The Hop Yard fits in neither of these two categories. We love the Hop Yard because of how different it is. It is not a pub in a traditional sense. Housed in a former horse feed shop, concrete floors with and a shed type structure. If my description of the building is putting you off, it really shouldn't. It has real character. There is a wide choice of local beers, wines and spirits served here, including their own (Hop Yard Brewing Company). The Hop Yard has Pop-up food suppliers that are based there for spells. they've had some really diverse cuisine, ranging from Thai, Paella and Curry to Jamaican Jerk. Whatever they have there you wont be disappointed. There are various music and comedy events on that are very well priced and worth keeping an eye on if your after a bit of entertainment on your night out. On Wednesday nights there is also Cuban Salsa dancing if that tickles your fancy! To sum up, we like The Hop Yard in all its diverse glory! Get yourselves down there if you find yourselves in Forest Row. Don't forget to ask your Concierge for more information! Check our Facebook page for more info and recommendations @sussexconcierge

Called in on a Saturday lunchtime. Place was pretty quiet but despite this the service was very casual - having ordered some drinks I asked for a menu and was told “err I think we’ve run out “. The bar server then just walked off. There was no attempt to assist further. I don’t know if this place makes any money but if it were my business staff with that attitude would be getting their P45. Eventually I was able to ascertain that food (curry or pizza) must be ordered and paid for at separate counters (concessions?) which tends to make the whole dining experience a bit disjointed. The food when it came was not bad at all but the way the whole place is set up doesn’t make for a relaxing meal. I left with the conclusion that whoever owns the place runs it more as a hobby than a serious business venture.

We've been many times now and I cant help but come away with the same feeling everytime, I love the idea, love the community feel, love the rustic finish & the idea of the pop up food offerings ..... BUT the drinks are massively overpriced, the staff are nonchalent and the toilets are completely inapproriate!!! I bought one round of 5 drinks and it came to £48 ... in FOREST ROW, that's just obscene and I cant help but feel is so contrary to the impression they are trying to put across. The unisex toilets are disturbing, my husband went to the toilet and as he walked through the only other person in there was a young girl, I'm sorry but it is beyond inappropriate. I generally find the staff to be unattentive, they're too busy chatting & joking amongst themselves, I had bought 15 people to spend the afternoon drinking to celebrate my birthday, so we spent a lot of money with them but several people commented that when they we went to the bar they felt like they were being a nuisance ordering a drink, as though they were interrupting a social gathering amongst the staff. I dont want to stop going but with every visit I come away a little more put off. Such a shame!(The mexican pop-up restaurant was out of this world btw!!!!)

Im going to say it was not that bad but I couldn't really finish it of how bad it was. First of all, they covered my chips in mayo and sweet chilli but they put so much mayo I didn't eat all of it. Second, some of the food was cold, not enjoyable. And lastly, I don't recommend getting the burger. All they do is put sauce in then put a decent size patty in it but it tasted like a McDonalds chicken nuggets and looked exactly like one. It was a bit cold too.
