Visited this pub after a visit to the museums. This is very close proximity to West Kensington station and also the museums and we decided to pop here due to this. The pub itself gives the “London pub” vibe and in a way is reasonably sized, however there is a seating area in the far right corner which clearly has too many tables in and almost comes across as “cluttered” and i feel your almost sitting on each others laps of the table next to you. At the time of the visit, it was busy mind. The pub also has access to the sports channels and it appeared many locals attended to watch the Cricket or whatever sport was on, which wasn’t too bad. Only one staff member appeared accommodating, who was the staff member at the door showing people to their tables otherwise the rest just walked around looking quite miserable. The food was quite disappointing and overcooked. It didn’t take too long to come however i had the BBQ chicken (similar to a hunters chicken) and the chicken was quite dry and overcooked and there was far too much cheese on it. This comment was echoed throughout the rest of my party who had the same meal. The menu did not really have a large selection to choose from but they do some sort of deal where its “Three small plates for £16” or similar which wasn’t too bad. We had to use the disabled toilet to change my child, however this was in a clear state of much needed decorating with chunks of the wall missing and generally just messy. This pub is also a “pet friendly” pub whereby Dogs can also come in. This was a one-off visit, probably wouldn’t go again but done the job whilst i was hungry and needing a drink.

Located next to the Wxhibition road with multiple museums, this was a chance find. Excellent service and selection of beers. Staff is cheerful and helpful. Highly recommend!

Very charming and warm pub within walking distance from the Natural History Museum, making it an ideal spot to have lunch on a visit to South Kensington. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was great and prepared quickly. I would definitely visit again if I was in the area. 😊

Decent beer and efficient service, does well for a pub with high turnover of staff and customers. Had to drink outside however because of noisy music.

Very close by the tube station, a big pub with two floors and catering for a lot of lunches and dinners. Green King are excellent at food and setting up pubs to suite the local environment and this is no different. Mainly tourists. Not an issue. But there not typical of an English pub although with all the history and looks it feels like it. Not cheap. Pint, coke and lemonade just short of £18. But lots of tables, very good service (including greeting on way in) and clean, tidy and well maintained.

We were welcomed as soon as we walked in and were served quickly at the bar. We just had a drink. It was a typical London pub.

Went with a couple of friends after seeing an exhibition at the Natural History Museum for drinks and a light lunch. The staff were very welcoming, finding us a table (we had not booked) and food was excellent Certainly would recommend the Hoop & Toy to anyone. .

Having totally shattered ourselves after an afternoon in the Natural History Museum, we were ready for rest and refreshment. Luckily, we chose the Hoop & Toy pub just a short walk away. We were not disappointed. It was busy, but we soon found a table tucked away in the corner. Great choices of beers and spirits (London prices). We chose traditional, delicious pie, mash and peas, and we're amazed how hard the staff all worked to serve the customers and clean the tables. One person in particular was constantly 'buzzing' around keeping everything in order. He looks like a young Al Pacino. His name is Vito and he is the manager of this typical London Pub. A nicer chap you could ever wish to meet. Great find. Great food. Great place to relax.

Brilliant location and amazing meals. The food was soo good and fast service. All staff very friendly too. Toilet cubicles are on the small side so you do need to squeeze to get in but that’s the case for most toilets nowadays. Will definitely seek this place out again if in the area!

We have very bad experience here. Fish and chips was burned and soaked in oil. When I ask to exchange for new one (not burned and soaked in oil), waitress after few minutes brought the same dish back as a new one. He admitted chips was the same but fish was a new , which wasn't true. He took fish with anger and through back on a plate. After when I ask refund they give us a new dish. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Best place full of positive peoples. Staff was doing excellent job. I went there on Thursday night and bar is like totally full I enjoyed very well! Tried flint eye and level head both.

Had lunch here. Staff were lovely but it was a bit like "Faulty Towers", meal order taken, waiter returned to confirm order - still got the main meal wrong when it arrived. Ordered 2 coffee and cake on the special (£3.99 each) - was charged £17.88 for these instead of £7.98.However, the staff were lovely and we didn't notice the mistake until we were on our way out!!The pub itself really needs a good over hall, it was dark, dingy and in poor condition. Would I return? No!!

Visited here in Oct 2020 for a bite to eat after spending a whole day at the nearby V&A Museum. Greeted by a nice chap who explained clearly about the Covid requirements and how to order online via the app. We sat in a very pleasant area upstairs, a lot less rowdy than the downstairs bar area. Food arrived quickly after ordering from the app and was nice, standard pub grub. Much needed after a whole day of walking around a museum! A bit pricey but expected for the area. No complaints.

Visited as we were going to the Comedy Club upstairs so had a drink beforehand. BEWARE!! It was SO crowded it is almost impossible to shield your PIN as you put it in the machine, moments later after a minor distraction my purse had been swiped from my bag which was right by my feet....mopeds waiting outside the pub speed off to the nearest cashpoint....luckily I realised almost immediately and blocked transactions via my phone app. NO SIGNS UP warning about pickpockets. Emailed management the next day re the CCTV as advised by the barman but they have not even bothered acknowledging the email let alone offer any advice or assistance. SO BE CAREFUL!!!

Horribel food and ok - service, we were told a 50 minute wait, the food came out after about 30, and the food was not even hot... stay away!

Love the environment, staff were very nice, but our food took over an hour & it was only a Friday lunchtime. Food was good pub grub. Wine & beer also good, so no complaints at all, but luckily we were not in a hurry.

OKi-sh London pub, but they won’t serve drinks because the WiFi is down! Comedy night too and people are leaving in droves. Dozens turned away. Staff seem delighted to get an early night. If I were the owner, I’d be concerned.

After a visit to the museums, this is a nice stop for a well kept pint. Packed and lively, but bar staff attentive and serve well, and the real ales seem nicely kept. Especially enjoyed Wimbledon Copper Leaf - ruby ale.

We visited on a Monday lunchtime, which was not at all busy. After placing an order for four meals, one failed to be served. When this was queried, the staff did not apologise and no recompense was offered. The missing meal eventually turned up. We will not be back, which is a shame given the pub's close proximity to the South Ken museums.

The food was so overcooked, I could not even cut it. It is such a neat pub. I had been there regularly when I lived across the street years ago and had been excited to bring my family back to share in the experience and it was a disappointment. With so many wonderful places to eat and drink in London, I would not return to the Hoop and Toy

Visited as a meeting location whilst attending nearby restaurant, service was super slow resulting from understaffed bar team, draft IPA was not available, the gentleman’s toilets were a disgrace, give this venue a miss.

Pleasant enough old fashioned pub with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Popped in for a drink after a visit to the V & A, extremely close to South Kensington station.

Der Pub ist klassisch und schön eingerichtet und bietet eine große auswahl an Getränken und speisen. Die Fish & Chips mit einem Cider sind sehr empfehlenswert.

It’s awful, we waited 40mins for a bacon and chicken sandwich ! And it wasn’t even a slice of bacon it was some sort of pre mix gunge . Not nice at all

Possibly tbe worst food I have ever had the misfortune to spend my hard earned money on. Who serves a roast with no gravy. When I asked for some they bought an egg cup full of thick lumpy gel out. The lasagne was cheap and overcooked. I couldnt eat my gammon it was tough and unbelievably salty. Just vile.

Standard awful food and service you’d expect from Green King, if your a tourist visiting London avoid green kings pubs, may aswell go to a Wetherspoon

We ordered Philly Steak Ciabattas and got sliced steak and cheese served on a couple of slices of white bread that bore no resemblance to a ciabatta. The bread was soggy and the steak was overcooked, we asked for medium and got well done. Side of chips was very small for the price. Overall very disappointing

was the closest pup to south ken tube to get out of the rain, over £6 for a pint of camden hells and over £3 for an appletiser.

So this is the second time I have been here in a year. The food is good. I like the fish and chips, it is hard to mess it up in London these days. I spent about $100 here drinking and eating talking to local friends. I have to say Hoop's bartenders are not the friendliest Brit bartenders you see in London. I would describe Hoops bartender's service like San Francisco entitled bartenders (attitude), this not a compliment. Where they only serve locals first, and unless you speak up or step forward over the bar you will not get serve. At the end of the night I wanted to tip the bartender or buy him a drink, but why? There are so many pubs in London to bounce to.

Avoid for the rugby, staff can not use the TV’s and no sound - Joke!

Si buscas buena cerveza, ambiente inglés y comida típica, este es el lugar. Hay pastel de carne de ternera muy bueno también hay de pollo, el plato de cerdo cocinado lento muy bueno también , y si vas con niños burguer y plato de pollo( alitas, nuggets, ensalada y patatas) para 4 personas con 3 pintas: 58£. Tras la visita al museo de ciencias naturales muy buena opción, 5 minutos andando. Personal muy amable.

Stopped here planning to have a drink and lunch. Upon arrival was told that we would have to wait about 10 minutes to order food, as stock had to be put way. The guy said he would let us know when we could order. We said ok, ordered drinks and chatted. After 30 minutes of waiting to PLACE our order, we heard his coworker say they would not be taking food orders for another 40 minutes. We finished our drinks, paid and left.

£6.10 for a pint, and I'd to wait til the staff had finished a chat about a stolen bike to get it. £3.35 for a coke!! Have had a few beers in Soho and Camden market and prices didn't approach these. Lights not working in the ladies toilet, two cubicles out of action, lock didn't work in another. Toilet paper strewn all over the floor. Carpet in lounge is like something out of arthur Daly's local- the Winchester

The Hoop and Toy gets quite crowded, as demand is high in this area, so you may have to wait to find/grab a free table. Pub food is basic but pretty good, and they have a good selection of beers available.

Not just cold but stale dried up and restless salt beef. Fries were cold and staff attitude was take it or leave it Would you eat this ? I tried but felt very sick

Abbiamo pranzato in questo tipico pub con i bambini e siamo stati molto bene. Porzioni abbondanti e cibo buono. Consiglio il Bigfish & chips (1 sterlina i nostri più ma la porzione è più abbondante) e buonissima la pie ripiena di manzo e funghi, una bella scoperta.

Hay pubs cada 20 pies en Londres. Parecen estar continuamente ocupados. Este era el mismo. Un cambio constante en los clientes, todos moderadamente a totalmente borrachos. Sirvieron comida de pub pero principalmente cerveza. Tenían una buena selección de ginebras que probé largamente. Al elegir un pub, el más cercano probablemente sea el mejor.

Llegamos al Hoop & Toy el domingo 28 de julio pasado cuando estábamos en Londres para el cumpleaños de mi hijo. Muy sorprendido de ver que no estaba demasiado ocupado. Solo 2 personas sirvieron en el bar, lo que significó esperar un poco por el servicio, pero los muchachos de allí fueron muy educados y nos contactaron lo más rápido que pudieron. Pedimos comida que llegó en 20 minutos, y fue excelente. Lo recomendaría si estás en la zona.

What a great pub, especially for Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and gave us excellent service. We were lucky to get a table as it was very busy, but despite of this the vibe was good especially with the football game showing as well. We had the Sunday roast for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely visit again.

Friday 28th June a group visited this pub on route to the silent disco at the National History Museum. With close proximity to South Ken station and football on TV expected it to busy and it was.

We work in the science museum so this is our works local and most of us absolutely love the place. It can get very busy during the weekends with moaning touristy types and there screaming kids during the day and halfterms so try to avoid it then but go in the night and what an atmosphere. Watch the football and we would recommend the comedy shows which are free, the beer isn't cheap but I've never had a bad pint just go for the cheaper stuff like Amstel.

The Strawberry Prosecco Sundae was delicious, apple pie was not as spectacular. Service was average with a lot of confusion behind the bar. Busy and energetic atmosphere.

the comedy was so funny and it was free, which is excellent cos the prices here are a bit expensive. £14 for a double gin and a pint of Peroni so thanks for free show.

We absolutely loved this pub. Ate there twice and the food was very good. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We hope to be back there again before christmas.

Tuvimos un día ocupado visitando el Museo de Historia Natural y queríamos almorzar lejos de las multitudes del museo. El jueves estuvo bastante ocupado y con poco personal, aunque el personal era amable y tenía un ambiente agradable. Mi esposa tenía una carne de res con un pastel de vino tinto y verduras de temporada que estaba bien preparada y muy bien presentada y generosas porciones de verduras. Tenía a los cazadores de pollo, las únicas críticas fueron que podría haber habido más queso y salsa por lo demás bien cocidos y sabrosos. Al igual que con todos los pubs de Fullers no es el más barato, pero nos gustaría visitar de nuevo. Todo un lugar peculiar con divertidos refranes relacionados con la cerveza pintados en las paredes. Aunque no los visitamos, parecía que había dos salas para eventos, una en el piso de arriba, junto al baño y otra en el sótano. El exterior es atractivo con flores.

A great place for a relax (and a gin & tonic) after a day's walking in an eclectic area of London, albeit not an extensive choice of gins.

Went here for late lunch after visiting the V&A.; Yes the pub was packed but we managed to get a table. Both had the Hunters chicken which was tasty and cooked OK. They did run out of the wine we were drinking at the bar but went straight to the cellar for a bottle. Also ran out of glasses but we had two, they washed them out - to us no big problem. Staff friendly and didn't have to wait too long for our food. Only think is would have liked not to have to go up a flight of stairs for the loo as it is can be difficult for me.

I went to the bar to get drinks and queued with out fuss, when it came to my turn, the barman chose to serve a young female and her friend who had just walked in. I commented on this and he lady serving near where I was standing nodded apologetically at the same time another barman came out from the back, saw me waiting but chose to serve someone he knew again they only just walked in. Had I not been ordering food and been with a group of people I would have walked out. Really not made to feel like they wanted business on a plus the food was good.

Visited with work colleagues after an event - easy to sit down without reservations. Good range of beers, including local ones, friendly staff, not even that expensive but large TV screens showing sport probably spoilt the mood a little. If that’s something you look for in a pub, it will be perfect.

We visited the pub on Friday night with a group of friends after an event in the area. The place was very busy but the service was efficient. They have a good selection of beers and quite few bottled ciders. Visited the place few years ago and was impressed with the interior change they made! Looks really cool. We didn't have food so can't comment on that but we looked at the menu and seems the place has some nice vegetarian and vegan options. We might come back to try those!

My father and I came in hoping for a good pub meal. We both ordered the same and we had to wait a very long time for our meal. If we hadn’t of paid upfront, I would have walked out, but we were very hungry so persevered. By the time the food came, it wasn’t hot. Knowing the food hygiene standards that is followed at my setting for children, food should be probed 3 times, once when cooking, when dished up and when served, therefore there should be no excuse for the temperature of the food being so low! Before we sent it back, a family next to us also returned their food and refused to pay, nor did they decide to stay and left. We had to wait another while longer for the food to come back but when it did, it was much more hotter. Only one staff member was helpful and apologetic whereas another seemed to have no interest.

We were looking for somewhere to watch the Wales game and luckily found this place again. It was buzzing, packed for the game and a fantastic atmosphere with great Beer but a bit pricey compared to back home.

We waiting 45 Minutes for our food to arrive and when it did it my roast was cold with soggy vegetables and then we ask the staff for cutlery to be then told they didn’t have any forks and was offered a spoon instead!!! How are you meant to eat a roast dinner with a spoon... after a few minutes a fork was finally provided, by which time I just wanted to eat and leave.

Very close to South Ken tube. Typical English old style pub. Seating/tables inside. Has television so can watch football. A selection of beers on tap. Pub food. I had a steak and red wine pub. Reasonably priced food. Toilets upstairs. No table service so have to order at bar. Busy, but not extremely busy. At first we were standing as no available tables, but after 30 mins we got one after other customers left. Overall not a bad place to meet with friends

Visitamos The Hoop and Toy cada vez que venimos a Londres. La comida y el servicio siempre es increíble. Obviamente, hay períodos de mucho trabajo y, a veces, hay que esperar un poco para obtener comida o para que los sirvan en el bar. Pero eso es lo que se espera de un pub tan centralizado. Un montón de lugares para sentarse, excelentes opciones de bebidas. También han comenzado a poner comedia en el piso de arriba, que es fabuloso. Ubicación perfecta si está visitando el Museo Nacional de Historia y hay muchas tiendas encantadoras y lugares de pastelería cerca. Sin duda volveremos!

For South Kensington it is not a nice pub. Can't say the crowd was impressive either. I was desperate for a drink so went in. The pub feels run down, not attractive at all, and it is also dirty. Keep it old fashioned but it needs a spruce up. I appreciate it is very busy but I saw a few flies around and staff should be advised not to take out the rubbish through the eating area whilst people are eating. I even saw the barman, seems like a nice chap, but he cleaned my glass with his shirt. I made sure i didn't visit the toilets there as I can imagine. It is not place you would go to for a night out.

Yes, at your own. Nice place full of youngsters, university people. Vibrant, full of life as expected. Kitchen close early, so after 8::30 pm, don’t expect to taste the burgers or the fish and chips. You have to order directly from bar, then sit. So, at your own!

For a pub in South Kensington (a tourist hub of London) on a Saturday night with one of the biggest, most looked forward to, boxing bouts of the year (Joshua Vs. Povetkin) on, the service was sub-par. 1 person was serving whilst the bar was 4 people deep from end to end for about 20 mins. Also, received a glass with lipstick marks around the rim (not the worst pub sin but just added to other problems).

So we were curious about this pub. Our hotel was diagonally across the street and every evening this place had people outside from being full inside. So we decided to give it a go on a Sunday. It was interesting, typical bar but had a full dinner menu you placed at bar. Bartender then brought you your food. Food was ok. Lots of tvs all had the World Cup on.

Came here to watch a football match that they advertised showing. All was well until i saw a mouse come out of the kitchen. The pubic hair in my pint glass was a bit more serious though. I complained to no avail. At that moment they also switched away from the football match even though there were 20mins left to play without reason. A truly horrible place. DO NOT GO HERE!

This pub isn’t offering what they are promising on their website, which is broadcasting football matches for EVERY ONE. 10 minutes before the match we were watching was finished (Champions League) the manager decided to switch to another match, a game of BRITISH football clubs. ‘This is a BRITISH pub, so we will watch BRITISH football’ was the first response why it was turned off. We asked politely to speak to the manager, but ‘the boss’ refused to come downstairs. The bartender instead was shouting even louder to us and a family with young children they were a BRITISH pub. In other words, this is no place for ‘foreigners’ Good luck, UKIP staff. I doubt if this almost sunken ship will survive this BREXIT wave. First get rid of the rats who are sailing this...

il pub inglese tradizionale è composto da un gran bancone con una serie di birre e cose da bere. le prendi, paghi e te le porti al tavolo. chi vuole mangiare in genere si arrangia con cose precotte, questo ha una buona offerta di cibo, fish & chips, pie ( pizze rustiche con ripieno di carne), hamburger, e altri piatti. si trova in una zona turistica , il prezzo è abbordabile e si mangia abbastanza bene , se siete amanti del ristopub all'italiana e non amate la birra non è il posto giusto

Aunque la fama de la cocina inglesa no es muy buena, en este pub encontramos comida realmente rica. El trato fue muy bueno y la sopa del día de lentejas y los pasteles de carne, deliciosos. Nosotros probamos el Steak and Ruddles Ale Pie y el Chicken and Roasted Woodland Mushroom Pie. Riquisimo...

Stopped in thinking this was a nice little pub. Loud place, rude staff, totally ignored us. A sign says there's seating upstairs. Guess they meant in the bathroom. Left after 5 minutes. Don't waste your time.

Closest pub to Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington. A Greene King pub, so don't expect any real ale miracles here - but keep in mind that pubs are few and far between in this residential area; the nearest one is the Zetland Arms, also a Greene King pub, but a bit more atmosphere there. Standard national and international lagers, and Punk IPA. Nice staff, decor has seen better days. Gents loos can be filthy! Upon one of my visits the only available bowl with a seat was covered in manure - and it was still covered in manure three hours later! You can take your drinks outside for a smoke/vape. Very busy in the evening.

We’ve been before and it was a bit grotty and run down but the service was great so we went again. Wow what a change, the decor is lovely and the place looks so much better and the service was still great as well. Pity the London Pride is gone though.

Over the past couple of years, I was noticing that this pub, which I always go to after the Proms, was going down hill a bit. I was glad to see that it is improving again - when I visited last night, it looked like some care has gone into its appearance, with a well polished bar and a nice pint of ale. Hooray!
