Hons Chef 鴻厨 in Richmond upon Thames

Visited this little Chinese on my trip to London this weekend and off their lunch menu I ordered beef curry with noodles and it was absolutely gorgeous. I loved the fact you could walk in, grab some Chinese food and walk down the high street eating it (something you can’t do at the Chinese takeaways in the North) The lady who served us was very lovely and friendly and I will definitely be visiting again on my next trip to London :)

Brilliant Chinese, always hot and tasty, can’t go wrong and a staple of my diet , 10/10 . I will always recommend 👏🏻 Always getting a fortune cookie is also a nice treat.

I'm surprised at so many 5 star reviews this place has. Because last week i ordered some food from here via deliveroo.. the delivery was very quick and that's the only good thing i have to say about this place. Peppered chicken was dry and hard like it had been sitting around for hours. The same with the mini spring rolls which were also tasteless. The beef in black bean sauce had no flavour. The beef had a strange texture and slimey. The sauce was congealed. Possibly the worst takeaway I've ever had from anywhere. Most of it ended up in the bin

We’ve just tried to eat a take out…..am genuinely worried I might see it again in an hour!!! The Tom Yum soup was rancid! Am seriously worried I might have poisoned myself and my 12 year old!!!! The food was OFF!!!!

Delicious chinese food. I had sweet and sour chicken and chicken chow mein. Very good portion sizes, and the sweet and sour sauce was perfect. I phoned them up and they were super helpful with asking about allergens. Highly recommended.

My most favourite Chinese Takeaway, great food!

Food arrived on time and hot. Tasty, massive portions (couldn't eat everything!). Great value for money. We ordered beef chowmain, roast pork ho fun (to be honest were a bit bland), salt and pepper chicken(my partner loved it) duck spring roll(huge and crispy, my favourite! Super tasty) and crispy won ton for a total of £40 including 10% discount and delivery. Thank you for the extra prawn Crackers and fortune cookies! I'm happy with my order and good quality knowing the bad standards you usually find in the area, this place is a real gem! Please keep up the good work and will definitely order again.

I absolutely adore this place, my partner always goes him and they show him so much respect and gratitude. Make sure you order from their menu by phone and not through just eat, this is so that they get all the money they deserve!! They always give you fortune cookies with your meal and prawn crackers! TOP TIER SERVICE. If you couldn't tell, we are regulars now.

Walked in with my gf and was welcome by a lovely lady, she had an amazing vibe and was really nice. She showed us the menu and when we picked something she said it was really good . We only waited a tiny amount of time and the food came. Got back home and opened all the food which was still hot which is perfect and it was wonderful. best Chinese I’ve ever had!!!! Definitely recommend and going back soon. We had the crispy beef with rice and the special chow mien which was so delicious. Thank you for the free spring rolls that came with the food. ALSO FORTUNE COOKIEESSSSSS🤩

Be aware if you have allergens, I won’t be ordering from here again, really bad allergen warnings on their menu, ordered the kung pow chicken as it’s clearly labelled as no nuts, but it came covered with peanuts!!!! They didn’t even seem to care!!!

Very delicious food, not too oily like most of the Chinese restaurants and full of flavour. I ordered prawn on toast, chilli crispy chicken and Singapore Chow Mein - huuuuge portions which is great! I would suggest adding sweet chilli sauce to every order and perhaps cooking meat/fish little less when it comes to chow mein. Really enjoyed your food thanks!

My first time having Hons Chef and was absolutely delicious. Ordered several dishes and was very pleased with all of them. Favourites were the salt and pepper chicken wings and the crispy shredded beef. Will definitely order from here again

These guys are awesome, they take pride in what they cook and work very hard, I have been very well looked after being a regular cusfomer, One thing that is important is that hons dosent sell you any waste like many restaurants do and one I moved from I used for a while in Teddington (I will not mention as it was over 2 years ago now) but Hons well has my recommendation and they aim to keep getting better and better, also its nice to see they have a 5 * star hygiene rating,, lets keep them going if we can, even if it is a little treat for yourslef or an order for family, really nice take aways every time Ive ordered and never have had any complaints whatsoever, well done guys!👏👏👏👍✔️❤️🦇🤠🌙

The staff here are sooo rude. They got my order wrong I called them they said someone will be out to with the rest of my order, i then called back 30 minutes later as still no one arrived. The lady then said why don’t you get up and collect it you don’t live far away! Shocking. She then said don’t order from here again.. I 100% will not be !!

Hons is the best Chinese takeout in Hampton, couldn’t recommend them more. I order at least twice a week and the food is always incredible I have never been disappointed, the staff are just the nicest and most friendly people if I could I’d give them 10 stars not 5 xx

Love this place. It can be hard to find a good Chinese takeaway but this place is fantastic. Delicious chow mein, chicken in yellow bean sauce, and duck in plum sauce. Generous portions and free Prawn crackers!

Wow just had something from when I was young in Hampton used to get crispy duck rolls and couldn't get them for years had these made and are now on the menu these are a must try so yummy and took me back to my youth please if you try something try these so so soo good massive thumbs up 👍

Hons is amazing, it did not used to be that good, but now it's totally changed. We ordered a takeaway away last night. The Kung Po chicken was the best I have ever had anywhere. The beef curry was tasty too.

Chips with curry sauce absolutely amazing, gave us free curry sauce and spring rolls and fortune cookies, service was amazing, very friendly!!!

Dreadful. Didn’t start well with (admittedly complimentary, but nonetheless) stale prawn crackers. Frozen, bought in spring roles that were all batter and no vegetables with no dipping sauce. BBQ ribs - tiny and dried out. Vegetable chow mein was tasteless, as was the sweet n sour chicken which was also dried out overcooked chicken, and a ‘special’ fried rice that was nothing more than rice with the tiniest trace of egg. Extremely poor ☹️

I was working in the local area and found Hons Chinese restaurant, the lady was very friendly and happy, she advised me the cha siu was good so I ordered with some rice and I must say its one of them delicious old skool Chinese, hard to find these days but seriously good food. Will be back again to try some other dishes.

Incredible, high quality Chinese food! We enjoyed several delicious dishes, all well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The curry and sweet and sour chicken were the highlights. The noodles portions are very generous. They were also very accommodating when ordering for our vegetarian/vegan friends. We got the spring rolls, samosas, noodles and curry. The vegetarian curry was outstanding, full of flavour with a spicy kick. I think it’s a fantastic local place with friendly owners, in a newly renovated and hygienic establishment. Would definitely recommend! No need to go all the way down to Chinatown to enjoy good Chinese food at cheap prices.

My new go-to place for excellent Chinese food! A hidden gem in Hampton Hill, the quality and portion sizes are excellent. Have recommended to several friends who have all enjoyed the food here. I've tried most of the menu and everything is consistently good. Recommend the noodles in particular!

Food just as bad as old owner, you get tiny containers, I had duck and was presented with 90% chopped onions with looked like boiled duck most was the fatty white skin tasteless and I paid £7 joke, willnot go there again

Had tried Hons in 2021 before the latest change in ownership and was very disappointed. If like me you avoided them do try again now it's in new hands. I've only tried a couple of dishes but they were a vast improvement. Fresh tasty ingredients well cooked and a reasonable price. Looking forward to trying more dishes from the wider menu.

Really enjoyed a takeaway from Hons. It's family business with an owner who really appears to care about serving top quality food. Great menu with Thai and Malaysian dishes as well. Definitely recommend

First time going to Honschef since revamp and new management. Food was fine, well prepared, ribs meaty, grilled dumplings very good, beancurd and blackbean good. My only comment is the sauces could do with "spcing" up. The Sechuan chicken was not zingy at all, the beef chow mein lacked something and the sweet sour sauce was not sufficiently sweet nor sour, but the chicken balls for the sweet sour were very good.. Generally the "meats" were good, it was the sauces that need something. I will certainly go again and try more dishes.

Recently refurbished with new owners. It’s clean and the food is excellent, a massive improvement!

Liked the old hons but the new one is better! Try the Laska is great. Try them new menu very good.

Great food, all really tasty and amazing prawns!

The food here is absolutely incredible. We ordered chicken balls, aromatic duck and samba fried rice which tasted very delicious and my family was very satisfied. We will definitely order from this place again. The staff is great and the cook is very nice, they are attentive with your requirements.

I just paid £31.50 for sweet and sour chicken balls, special rice, beef with noodles, hot and sour soup and a 1/4 crispy duck. The duck and beef noodle dish was disgusting, the beef was like rubber and the duck was dry / old. The other three dishes were okay but not to the standard we've been been used to. I called and spoke to a female who then consulted with the kitchen who then told us to bring it all back in for a refund. Having already explained that three dishes were okay, they didn't want to help any further. Absolutely disgusting customer service and I will never use again. I would advise to try the other Chinese restaurants in High Street Hampton Hill and think twice before using Hons because if there is a problem, they don't want to help you.

Absolutely disgusting.. reheated food sent to us, which was with wrong dishes... spring roll reheated and full of grease... and all they said is mistakes happen....

****AVOID AT ALL COST******** been to hons alot in the past and its normal "ok" Ordered my normal Chicken balls and a few other bits and they decide to send me some lovely RAW chicken balls. Called them as you would and they where kind enough to send me another bag of RAW chicken balls. Then decided to spend the next hour of my evening trying to talk to them to have the order refunded. after them sending 3 Drivers to collect the food and not refund me i finally spoke to the manager "john" who told me i was disturbing his business and that it was all my fault. Just eat where as helpful as using a fork to empty a bucket of water. They did an "investigation" that took less than a day meaning they did NOTHING other than take our money. this is the worst service i have ever had from any restaurant and im disgusted that Just eat wouldn't do more to get this resolved or even talk to Hons about the food they are sending. I look forward to spending the next few hours posting this all over every social media platforms and hopefully someone will finally close this place down as its hygiene rating is not acceptable.

Hon's used to be the best in the area, i used them for over 20 years, but since its changed management ,iv'e ordered twice and well lets say i was not happy and it put me off Chinese for months. the spring rolls only contained carrots, which was strange, on both occasions the ribs tasted off, and the chow mein was bland, even righting this i can still taste the ribs
