Really good Chinese buffet! Good family feel to it and not expensive either. Family run and nothing is too much trouble. 👍

Have been coming here for years and staff are so friendly and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time. The food is amazing and never once been let down. I hope they open up soon and the people of St helens step up to help them stay open

Being going for years, food, first class, clendlines, you could eat your food off the floor, and also, Toilets always spotless, Mems Toilets are very drab. The whole decor needs a refurbish

Food very average and bland, bigger concern is the way they treat their dog, locked outside on a chain living in its own squalor, poor animal. Wouldn’t like to see the state of their kitchen if this an example of their hygiene regime

Don't visit this place! They have left a dog in a disgusting state in the back yard. No food, No water, faeces everywhere and a broken nose. Heart breaking.

Sort your poo ridden yard out and word of advice - don’t keep pets in such conditions! We don’t want a uk wet market!

Fantastic restaurant, go here a lot. Since 2015. Whether with my husband, kids or as a big family meal. Customer service spot on. They get to know you and ask how you and your family are. Can’t fault this place. 100% recommend.

Good food, cheap price and a nostalgic trip for me personally

Bit expensive if you go in the evening. It's all you can eat, they charge different prices at different times of day, if you go of an evening its very steep. Kids rates are charged at half the price of an adult meal, which is extremely steep if they've only eaten a bowl of ice cream as my daughter did. Food is average, nothing special.

Visited last night 14 in family not visited for some time, £15 per head no child discount found this to be very expensive for what it is eg food basic gents toilets had cardboard on floor to soak up urine looked like it had been down for at least a day made me wonder what kitchen was like staff very helpful

I have visited Hong sing on numerous occasions over the years and the only thing to have changed is the cost. I think the toilets were last cleaned a few years ago a very bad smell no toilet roll and needs a re vamp. The food was OK nothing special I've had much better for less money. The decor is old and dark but I wouldn't mind that if the food made up for it but it doesn't. I wouldn't recommend unless there was a complete overhaul.

we haven't been here for a few years but thought we would give it a try. the price has gone up to £12.50 per person no child prices. £2.50 for a coke. we initially thought the price has gone up so much that the food has probably got better, no chance! the food is bland and is of very poor quality. not a prawn in sight. the soup which we always enjoyed was like dishwater, no meat in the hot and sour whatsoever.The food just doesn't look or taste appetizing. this is somewhere we used to visit on a regular basis. Hell would have to freeze over before we visit again.a total waste of money you're better going to a restaurant and being served with good food that won't cost any more.

Lovely staff great food good price

A nice relaxed atmosphere ( except for local kids who were causing a nuisance- not HS fault) food was plentiful and fresh . We went for later session so not overcrowded. It is value for money

Had a fantastic meal today at this varied, hot and tasty buffet! The surroundings are basic but I don't care about that as long as the food is good!! We enjoyed the duck and pancakes especially which are apparently on all day on a Sunday but only after 3.45pm other days (this is reflected in the price). We've seen that it's £8pp lunch Monday to Saturday so are meeting friends next Saturday!!

Visit here often with my elderly mother. Food is v good but the staff are fantastic with mum. So appreciative. Buffet style and good quality and choice at reasonable price. Well done Keep it up

The food was nice not a large selection of food but was good for the price

I will only go to this place now as I have tried the one in town centre a few times now and the the food is always cold and not cooked properly and can never get a seat, but Hong sing is Brill, we are always welcomed at the door with a smile they interact with our kids and they talk to us too, everyone is always polite and the food is always hot and fresh and there is always plenty of it too then never run short, I highly recommend

We regularly go to Hong Sing. We are always greeted at the door and remembered. Our drinks orders are made before we get to our seats. The food is consistently excellent with fresh meals frequently being brought from the kitchens. Over the course of our visit, members of the team come and chat - asking for updates on our day to day activities. It’s interactions like that - specific references to my sister’s university course etc - that keep us coming back.

Been here countless times. There are places with better decor and surroundings but I always end up back at hong sing as the food never disappoints and in most cases the more fancy places don’t come anywhere near the food from here!

Well I'm the last one to have reviewed this place and I must say it's even better. The desserts are in plenty there fruit ice cream cake biscuits and jelly. The soups are still as lovely with lovely little Nik naks to dip in it. Lots of choice more than last time lots of dishes and sides plus the duck is not fatty for the pancakes . Good service

Booked this place as nowhere else could accommodate for a meal for 32 on a sat night glad I did as the food was really good and tasty hot and plenty of choice inc duck and pancakes and whenever anything was running out you just asked the chef to bring out more desserts were lovely too just couldn’t fault for the food and service of the staff too would recommend and would deffo go back

Called as the hubbie always raves about the ribs at Gills (they have a take away across the road). The food was hot, far hotter than at the buffet in town & better quality but not as much choice. Having said that is you like salt & pepper anything you will love it here. The decor lets it down a little, not a destination for an occassion meal ok for a mid week meal.

nice visit to the Hong sung for Sunday lunch ,staff were friendly and attentive and tables were nicely set out . The Choice of food was very good and it was hot and replenished regularly ,although I personally thought that there should have been more choice for desserts .Overall a good buffet worth a visit

We were a party of 17 (including children) out celebrating my son's birthday ... and this was his choice of where to eat (though it was my first visit).

It was ok when it was cheap as its possibly within one of the worst neighbourhoods i the northwest the people can be quite appalling at eating but the food is just ok its not worth anywhere near £13.00 at night

Great value and place to go, staff are always friendly, large choice of food, many starters and main courses, can get busy but it's a large place and plenty of seats, also the food is refreshed regular to cope with the demand at busy times

Used to take family hear once a week or every other week foods always been good service good prices reasonable but prices have increased lately bill was a dramatic diffence and food offered was no different nothing added to menu ect shame

This is the original all u can eat buffet in St. Helens ( parr ) and still the best in my opinion the food is floorless as always not like some I’ve eaten in ! Food is not left for long amounts of time so is alway quite fresh and very tasty keep it up ! We’ve been coming here for over ten years now and have never been disappointed ✅

Overall the hong sing was fantastic food was hot and fresh and there was plenty of variety on offer. £15 for the tea time buffet and two drinks, I consider good value for money as well.

Your photo of the prices needs to be up dated as saying 4-6.30pm £7.50 and it’s £11.50. Very misleading

Visited here bank holiday Monday with my husband and our 3 year old daughter. Food was hot, fresh and very tasty, a excellent little Chinese buffet that isn’t overly priced like others. Deffo worth a visit and we will be returning soon.

Went with my wife, daughter, son in law, and 2 grandaughters to the Hong sing for the Chinese buffet. Had not been for a while thevplace had been refurbished, staff numbers increased food as always excellant. Chicken and sweet corn soup for starters, chasian beef, chicken in oyster sauce, pork spare rigs, egg foo yung, egg fried rice, salr and pepper chicken etc wonderful. Crispy duck and seaweed fantastic. Finallt sweets chineese cookies, doughnits, coconut cake fruit and ice cream brilliant. Had a wonderful evening.

Returned after a few years away. Smarter than I remember. More choice and most food piping hot....noodles not quite so. Left stuffed.

Visited this buffet restaurant several times over the last few years and never had a problem with the food or staff. Always satisfied until a recent Sunday visit when I went for a dessert. Immediately put off by several flies on the cakes and doughnuts. Please cover them up to show that you care about the customers.

We come here about 1 a month or so and we always have a great evening and the food choices are always great. There is a vast range of dishes and you are never waiting long for the buffet to be topped up. The staff are really friendly and are always playing with my little boy which he loves. For the choice you get you cannot complain at the price! It really helps with me as I am quite a fussy eater and I always manage to eat here! Would definitely recommend!

When we aren’t sure where we want to go, we invariably end up at Hong Sing. There’s no faffing about. We always get a table, the food is always great and the staff are brilliant.

Typical Chinese buffet. Great choice of mains, but too many salt and pepper and battered starters, alot more than most buffets and more variety is needed. Ice cream machine is also very sloppy and needed to be colder.

Recently went with family, plenty of choice, chef counter food nice and hot, noise levels very high so not a place to relax, felt it was a bit pricey for a buffet restaurant, not sure I’d go again.

Best Chinese in St Helens, always great food and excellent service

No atmosphere, narrow range, poor choice, lukewarm, felt like a works canteen. Appreciate it was middle of the afternoon but the staff (one waitress) was bored and abrupt. No return

This place is spacious, so you can come in groups and not have a problem. The staff are polite and friendly. They are also always attentive with the buffet, cleaning the stations and replenishing food. The food has quite a selection -- 2 soups, starters are fresh and hot, the mains are ok -- they have duck where you can make your own pancake duck but perhaps could expand a bit in options and maybe have a more interesting mixed vegetable (instead of the green bell pepper, cabbage and bean sprouts mix which seemed a bit soggy -- try to color it up with carrots, broccoli and mushrooms maybe?). The dessert buffet was ok, they have the soft serve ice cream and fruits.. The sauce stations are clean and plentiful because the staff replenish it when it is running low. It is good value for money and while I can't rave hosannas about it in the sense of it being excellent top notch chinese food, I can honestly say : it is reliably good and you will not feel short changed with the variety and quality, and the service. Keep going!

We have visited the Hong Sing Chinese Restaurant a number of times over the past seven years and have never had a bad experience there. The restaurant is a little bit dated inside but it has always been clean and tidy. It is also quite a large room and you don’t really need to book unless you are going as a party or large group. It opens 12 noon to 10pm every day apart from a Tuesday when it is closed. The food is the basic range of Chinese ‘All you can eat’ and the prices vary depending on which day you go. The Lunch Buffet is £8, the Happy Hour Buffet (which ends at 6.30pm) is £11.50 and the Evening Buffet is £13. The Sunday Special Buffet is £11 all day from 12 noon to 10pm. The food is always well cooked and there are a decent selection of starters, mains and sweets. We have always found the staff there to be helpful and well-organised and they are not always pushing you for more drinks like some of the other restaurants. The restaurant is fully licensed and has a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The food maybe basic but it is good value for money and tasty. If you want to dine out on a budget then you should give this place a try. However, if money isn’t an issue for you then you would probably be better off going to one of the more ‘up market’ Chinese restaurants which can be found in the St Helens, Warrington or Wigan areas.

Very friendly staff, good selection of food.

For a cheap midweek eat, this restaurant is perfect. There is plenty of choice and most of the food is very nice, in particular the very tasty and tender salt and pepper ribs and the chicken curry.

The restaurant is dated and feels like a school canteen! Not much choice of food and the food they did have was only just warm and tasteless. Wouldn’t waste my money on this place again. There are many other chinese buffets in the area which are much better quality!

We visited yesterday and is a great restaurant plus one which we have frequented over the years. The food is plentiful, always fresh and in a clean and comfortable surrounding. I can honestly say it’s one of the best restaurants if either you want an...

Prices have gone up by a pound or so per person but food has improved and we all enjoy our food we always go happy hour 11.50 pp

Went here the the second time with a friend. First time being New Year’s Eve. Food is absolutely delicious. Service is good too. I’ve stopped drinking so ordered a lime and soda with my meal. In the end we had two each. Only to find they charged us £2.50 per pint which I think is utterly ridiculous. Theres no price for this in the menu so might be worth asking the price before ordering.

Went on new years eve for my grandsons birthday... our 1st time... really nice food.. nice staff and good prices... they all sang happy birthday... lovely atmosphere... only down side was no seafood... but everything else was lovely... Will be returning...

Too much like school canteen environment.

I’m no stranger to a Chinese buffet, we came here 8 years ago and for some foolish reason we never returned...we made a return visit the other evening and I was amazed by the variety on offer. Lovely food, a wide variety, the salt and pepper king prawns are especially good! The starters are also great..I can’t really say much more apart from that this place is by far the best Chinese buffet we have been to of recent. We will be back. Keep up the good work. A++

Hong sing is a wonderful restaurant to eat at, in my opinion. The service is amazing, the people who work there are kind, lovely and always keeping on top with the service they're providing their customers. The food is wonderful and very filling! I do love the meals you can get there, especially with the wide variety to choose from. I love salty food, but if you don't this may be a problem with things like the seaweed, the chicken and the salt&pepper; chicken, but either way in my eyes they are delicious. The only thing I would ask to be added to the selection would be boiled rice mainly because I'm personally not a fan of fried rice and I think some of the meals are nicer with fried rice. The food is always fresh, being frequently topped up and I've never had cold food on my plate. The desert section is just as lovely, with a small variety of fruit, donuts and the beloved Ice Cream machine! Perhaps they could make this bigger? They are always on top of the drinks, asking you if you want another and they are quick to give them to you, even on a busy day. The only problems were the toilets, I think they could of been a bit cleaner, nothing to put me off going there though. Other than that they are lovely and I would highly suggest going there.

Hav'nt been here for quite a while but visited last night (7 th Oct ). Service is second to none clean and friendly but nearly all the picky bits were extremely salty which put me off for the rest of the meal. Some of the pork dishes I found not to my taste didn't have as much of a selection as I remember on my last visit. If you like the food I can say it is value for money but not for me ,i have to say it would have to seriously improve for me to return
