I would say this is a brilliant average Chinese takeaway. Think of how you wish a standard Chinese takeaway would taste. Often you’re left a bit disappointed and feel a bit gross. Not the case here. The food is tasty, freshly cooked and good value. The prawn toast are yummy and I love that they do the BIG spring rolls 🤤 rather than the silly little ones which are mostly pastry. Every time I visit family in Shepton I want to come here! In fact I’ve considered visiting Shepton just to get takeaway from here…

Some of the worst Chinese I have ever eaten. Sweet and sour sauce was terrible. Salt and pepper chips were standard chips with a couple of bits of onion. Crispy chilli beef terrible. Avoid. Use Sunshine Chinese

Very very good. TBH, as usual I wasn't expecting much from a small town Chinese Takeaway, but got one of the best I've had for a while. Generous portions, excellent SF Rice & Chow Mein, everything else well-cooked, textured and flavoured. Chicken soft, beef not tough. I could go on... Can't comment on price as someone else treated us, but the food was spot on. (And any Chinese that makes me think of the Banshees is a plus...)

From ordering to collection the team were polite, friendly and effect. Food was hot, fresh and very tasty! Highly recommend

Service is always very friendly and quick. The food is fairly typical of a Chinese takeaway, nothing special but you get decent portion size and it's fine if you're feeling too lazy to cook at home.

Absolutely delicious food. We visited here for the first time as our usual Chinese was busy, and were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff, and the taste of the delicious food, portions are plentiful. We will definitely be using this Chinese takeaway again.

Food always a good standard. Front of reception staff are always very friendly and provide regular updates when waiting for food. Best to order in advance as can take quite a while if you just turn up Would recommend

Hong Kong Garden saved the day for me! I was too tired to cook so opted for a ready meal from the freezer which was completely tasteless. Ordered a chow mein from HKG, it was ready within 15 minutes, and I really enjoyed my supper!

Best Chinese takeaway for miles!

Very disappointing takeaway. Duck with ginger and spring onion contained almost no duck or ginger. The duck was mostly skin and fat. Lots of onions but little else. First and last visit to the Hong Kong Garden. To finish on a positive note the boiled rice was good.

New to shepton. Worst Chinese i have ever had. Duck with ginger and spring onion. Contained no duck, just a few small pieces of duck skin and fat. Found just one piece of ginger. Just a plateful of onions and not cheap. Will not be using Hong Kong Garden again! Don't like giving bad reviews, but anything else would just be misleading in the case of Hong Kong Chinese.

The staff are absolutely lovely and the food is amazing. A 10/10 experience and highly recommend it for the price.

Had the quarter shredded duck, the pancakes are amazing. Chicken chow mein is very tasty. Sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style is a favourite from here. The crispy chilli beef from here is very nice, just the right amount of spice. Really recommend Hong Kong Garden, new to shepton and this was our first proper takeaway when we moved in. Been there 3 times and it’s been perfect each time.

Excellent meal. Lovely vermicilli noodles, huge spring roll and ribs - maybe more chilli needed that that is personal to me. £20 just for me but enough for 2 with an small appetite.

Nice tasty food for four paid £55. Salt & chilli prawn was chewy but overall we enjoyed the meal 8.5/10

It was our first time trying this Chinese takeaway as we were visiting our parents in Shepton. We live quite far away in Bristol. We were quite skeptical but to our amazement, the food tastes so much better than the Chinese we have in Bristol! I love the chicken balls and the salt and chilling King prawns.! My husband loved the chicken chow mien and my son loves the squid! Highly recommended! Such a gem ! Will definitely come back soon! 😋

It was our first time collecting from HKG tonight and it was so nice. We had chicken balls, chicken vermicelli noodles, chips and egg fried rice. We tend to share as Chinese take away isn't the cheapest but we were very satisfied and will order again in the future. All was well cooked and piping hot by the time we collected from Shepton and got home to Chilcompton. I'd highly recommend and I feel it was better than🌞rise

We tried Hong Kong Garden for the first time in a very long time because the Chinese takeaway we usually use in Shepton was closed and found the food OK. It wasn't full of flavour but the quality was good and if we found ourselves in the same position again we would go back but it wasn't good enough to change from our favourite.

10/10 food, really recommend for you to try it.

My all time favorite is the chicken fried rice. The rice is darker in color and tastes yummy compared to other takeaway! 👍👍👍

Horrible, chicken chowmein was dry and tasted like pepper, there was also a hair in my food

Asked for extra hot Singapore chow mein which wasn't spicy at all, the special chow mein was more veg than meat with a very bland watery sauce the duck Chinese style was again very disappointing, I rung up to pass this onto them to be met by laughter on the phone disappointed doesn't cover it!!!! Never again.

Always fantastic quality food that is reasonably priced. The beef with green peppers in black bean sauce is a delight to your taste buds especially if eaten with the egg fried rice. There are plenty of vegetarian options on the menu too. The owners are very aware of food allergies and will explain what ingredients are in any individual dish if asked. While the staff are always polite, friendly and helpful.

Very quick to prepare our food - 15 mins or so. Very tasty and a high standard. They only accept cash but this isn’t an issue as long as you go prepared. Cashpoint is 20 metre away. Will definitely go back!!!

Went in and ordered chicken with pineapple and veg fried rice. Have to say it was appalling.veggies in rice were mouldy. The onions were covered in mould spots the broccoli was past its best the mushrooms definitely Italy past their best also. it just tasted disgusting, the chicken dish was really bland also, the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. I've worked in catering and tbh this food wasnt fit to eat.why use veg that's gone past it's best and is either moldy or going off?? Ended up throwing it into the bin. Had a friend who would be the type to eat anything, even they were unable to eat it. I've eaten many times from this chinese and spent a lot of monies over the yrs but will not be ordering from here again. If I complained I'd be offered free food but don't want to take the chance on eating from there again if they believe it's ok to use food that's rotten or moldy and going off

Finally enjoying Chinese takeaways again as food here isn't greasy. Their special set menus are very convenient and go a long way. Service is good. 5 stars if they had a cash machine. Amazing if they delivered at home.

Having decided to go for a couple of drinks in Shepton Mallet we decided to get a takeaway as staying over for the Bath & West Show. We ordered a set meal with ribs, spring rolls, sweet & sour, chicken with peppers and special fried rice. It was delicious and the staff on the shop were very pleasant.

On our first night on holiday we found Hong Kong Garden leaflet. The food was hot we we got back from collecting the food. It was very tasty food and will use again while we’re here, and if we’re ever this way again. Would recommend anyone to try the Hong Kong Garden.

Tried this for the first time and was impressed. It’s cash only and gets busy so the wait was quite long but worth it. Best spring rolls i’ve had in years and really nice crispy duck also. Some other dishes on menu that I haven’t tried before so will be going back again soon !

I fancied a Chinese on my way home from work so treated myself and family! I am quite picky so I always have the same old chicken chow mein! I honestly have never had one so good the flavours and the tender chicken was phanominal and my mum had a chicken and cashews and said the exact same thing! Will definitely be making this our local Chinese from now on! ☺️

We had a take away a couple of Sundays ago. Wasn't to well so didn't feel like cooking Sunday lunch. So we decided to try this takeaway. OMG how amazing was it. The service was excellent. Phoned our order in and was awaiting us when we went to collect. Friendly staff. Prices are very good. A full menu offering many choices. Would recomend.

I rang to complain, but told the manager was in China and the chef couldn’t speak English! Then told I couldn’t have a refund unless I brought it back this evening, despite saying I’d bring it back tomorrow (it’s very late and I have an autistic son who needs me here). I’m not someone to moan for nothing, but this meal was horrendous 🤢🤢

Stayed near Shepton Mallet on holiday, we were looking for a takeaway for our tea and we found this place. We ordered, hot and sour soup, beef with green pepper and black bean, salt and pepper chicken, yung chow fried rice chips and carton of curry. We could not fault anything about this order of food everything was so tasty and delicious and plentiful. We found it great value for money, and wouldn't hesitate to go back again, would recommend this takeaway to anyone.

Based upon the crispy Beef (with carrots) this would be a terrible review. A glutinous, sticky mass that was neither crispy nor felt like Beef. Carrots were crispy, though. Chicken with cashew nuts was tasteless, in a very runny liquid with cashews thrown on top at the end. Fried rice brown and one solid lump. Redeemer was the hot and sour soup. Not hot, but reasonable taste. Hence two stars. It is the first time I have come down in the morning, taken the remains out of the fridge and thrown it away.

We have used this take away on numerous occasions and we have never had a bad meal. We can't complain and only thing is the chow meins could be put into a bigger dish!

Basically we never go anywhere else for chinese. The food is consistently good with a now upgraded kitchen. I have eaten from both the Mughal Empire indian and also here and in ten years we have had no problems. Excellent. Thanks.

Good food and plenty of it, we can never eat full portions. But very enjoyable all the same.

Ordered duck in PLUM sauce, there was absolutely no plum sauce or plums visible, only pinnaple and pinnaple sauce which is apparently how they cook it. How can you advertise something with plum sauce when there are no plums, this meal has not got a shred of plum in it. Guy refused to refund unless go through just eat as he would still have to pay commission, surely this is less important than loosing a customer. At the minimum could at least have offered to take back food and replace with something resembling what was ordered.
