Best Chinese in Street in my opinion! Always good food 😊

Went for birthday meal. Lovely food. And great service.

Picked up a takeaway curry, rice & chips last night to find the curry portions are much smaller but the price is not - rip off!!!

Lovely tasty food, friendly staff, highly recommend.

A seriously overpriced Chinese "restaurant". Perhaps I'm just out the loop of what passes as restaurant quality food but for £80 this was laughable. Really disappointing. I won't return.

Well very disappointing, chicken satah without peanut butter sauce but a curry sauce, spring rolls no sauce, and when I asked for some spring roll sauce, I got a little ramakin with sweet chilli sauce for which they promptly charged me 2.50. Followed by chicken chow mein and a crispy beef, on which WE got the chow mein and the crispy beef got served to the wrong table, who eat it with pleasure. Very disappointed.

Disgusting service from golden house tonight placed an order at 6.20pm was told it would be 1 hour 40 minutes went to collect it at 8.05pm paid and waited still not had it by 8.30 other orders placed after mine were going out later collection times than mine were being collected………….asked where my order was said it was coming be 2 minutes still not had it by 8.40pm so asked for refund as wasn’t happy waiting 2 and 1/2 hours asked where by food was as other ordered placed after mine were going out he laughed and said in the wok !! Then appeared with my Oder I said it that it then no apology or anything it looked at me and said nothing I told him his service was disgusting the collection area was busy and everyone heard then I left !!

We have eaten takeaway from here for years. Very flavoursome food. Recommend to phone order in advance. Can be busy at times.

Average looking restaurant with surprisingly good food. Didn't expect much walking into the place, but the food is what it is all about and we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. Draught Coke was flat but this meant I didn't get as full, and could eat more!

We were staying in nearby Somerton and after calling drove the 4 miles to the Golden House for an evening meal. I must say after clocking the restaurant we were unsure if this would be anything other than average. Thankfully, the food was really nice. We had the Golden House Special starter with prawn toast. The ribs were meaty, the prawn toast was crisp, seaweed was lovely. For main we had the chicken sweet and sour with chicken curry, egg fried rice and noodles. It really exceeded our expectations. Even the negative of the draught Coke being flat ended up a positive, as it meant I could eat more before feeling full! We both enjoyed our meal here.

Omg!!!!!! I have been to many many Chinese restaurants all over the UK and Europe and this place is hands down THEE BEST!!! Welcoming, quite and quickly received our food. The place itself is a little dated but who cares when the food is so delicious. I don't live near this place but I'd be happy to travel here again just for this food alone!! Busy with takeaways and I can see why. Don't look elsewhere for Chinese!! Just go here!!! Thank you guys again. Your great Oh and the toilets here are clean enough you could eat your food off the floor lol. Spotless though 🙂🙂

Thought we'd try this restaurant, as not been there before. Hubby ordered king prawn with ginger and spring onions, with egg fried rice. King prawn was a good size but wasn't enough ginger, he only had two bits! Plate was put on the table while it was hot, before his foods came. His plate wasn't hot by the time his foods came, which took 10mins. Usually the hot plate and foods come together? We thought it unusual the plate came first, while waiting for foods to arrive? My plate wasn't hot but I wasn't bothered with mine, as I eat quick! It was nice not listen to music while we eat, which makes a change. We don't like music loud when we go out. To the restaurant staff, please bring hot plates out with the foods together, and not plates first and it gets cold! Hubby eats very slow. Our foods wasn't very hot either.

Excellent Chinese. Food came within 10 minutes of ordering. Four different dishes, all cooked well. Great service. Would highly recommend.

Very efficiently run Chinese restaurant with a thriving take out business. It was a busy Saturday night but our party of three were promptly seated. Service was quick. Menu choice was substantial and food was good. Prices very reasonable. Will come again.

Bloody awful . Undercooked..I was sick. Literally..the crispy batter prawns were cold and soggy. As was the crispy chilli chicken

We have had one of the best takeaways here, however every time we call this place does not answer the phone to order ahead of time. We have also passed earlier than the closing times to pop in however it is always shut early

Placed an order at 5.15 for 6.30 pick up. Still waiting at 6.45pm. Asked them to check order. Got home 2 dishes were missing. This place used to have a good reputation but since change in ownership/staff no where near as good food and certainly not service.

Went a couple days ago, got bbq ribs and chips, the ribs were tough and had hardly any sauce on them nothing in tray to dip chips in, and the chips were crinkle cut oven chips. After hearing good things about the place extremely disappointed.

Not what it was, Become very cheap and tacky. The food feels like they are trying to save every penny, the technology is a nice idea but poorly executed and makes ordering harder and the pictures in the lobby are pointless and naff Just not a very good experience, perfect for people that have gave up on life.

Food was shocking. Ordered food arrived 4 minutes later just frozen rubbish from oriental whole sale deep fried. Staff just sitting on their phones and we was the only customers. No chop sticks , when requested they came with no wrapping so no idea if clean. No bowls side plates or dipping sauces. This is the worst Chinese ever , actually it’s no where near authentic Chinese at all. They should be embarrassed. AVOID

We were warmly welcomed into the very clean and tidy dining area. Almost seemed like no one ever goes in there. My colleague and I are renowned for bringing the party with us, but the atmosphere on this occasion was sadly lacking. Maybe just turn the lights down a bit? No chopsticks or finger bowls in sight. Soup for a starter was enjoyable, but a portion of only two ribs seemed a bit mean. Main courses, unfortunately, barely edible. Prawn crackers not much better. The takeaway side seemed to be popular - amusing telephone conversations and cigarette smoke drifting from the kitchen. Overall, very disappointing. Two stars. One for the novelty of being served by a gentleman wearing a baseball cap, the other because nobody died.

Just the best Chinese food around for miles! We are regulars since we discovered this gem last year. The food is exquisite! Try their fabulous hand made spring rolls and if you’ve never had crispy seaweed I can highly recommend it, it’s not greasy at all , just tiny strands of salty sweetness and incredibly moreish! I always have the vegetarian chow mien and Barry has the chicken version. The service is super swift, just the ticket after a long day. There is always a queue for for their take away service so get there early!❤️❤️❤️

Excellent food as always! Extremely polite and the portions are nice. A must visit every time we pick and drop our daughter to Millfield school.

Quality has changed in here so much actually felt ill the next day from eating here, what happened? Used to be the best in town. I recommend going to ocean house to anybody reading this they're are so much better nowadays!!

Ordered my usual, satay and chow mein, taste is ok but the portions are the smallest I ever had since I started testing these two dishes. Thought the 4 skewers in chicken satay are average but in this place for same price you only get two, also dish usually in other places comes with pieces of pineapple onion and other vegetables here it was only slice cucumber and raw tomato? chow mein bit greasy than normally and amount of it left me hungry. Such a disappointing visit, won't recommend if you are starving and want some decent food

I ordered couple of dishes that were made ready very quickly. It was mediocre in quality and taste. Nice chunks of chicken meat.

We both had lovely dishes, tasty and hot. Service was good. I don’t mind that it was wipe down table coverings and paper napkins, and doesn’t necessarily grab you to look at. It was good food and very pleasant staff.

The food was disgusting I ordered curry rice and spring rolls the curry was so runny that it had spilled out over everything when I got home. The spring rolls weren't spring rolls they had weird veg in and tasted horrible as did the curry the only bit that tasted good was the rice and prawn crackers. Its a shame as it was always a good place.

Have upgraded my 2 star rating after the meal we had last week. Back on form Golden House! It was lovely and I can't wait to eat there again. Have to say tonight I'm disappointed. This place has changed hands recently. The chow mein doesn't have that lovely tasty sauce through it any more, it's the same as any generic chow mein you can get anywhere. And the batter on the sweet and sour chicken was super thick and greasy. Such a shame. I'll be trying it one more time in case it's not been as good due to a busy Saturday night, but if it's the same I won't be going again. My family and I have been a regulars for over 30 years, this is our go to Chinese. Hoping it's a one off 🤞

Collected to take back to butlins holiday camp as a treat. No taste to ny of the set meal, massive disappointment. Poor imitation of Chinese food. Waste of money. Having a romantic night in, not even wanting to eat the chips.

On a previous visit foods was rated 5 in terms of Chinese food quality, unfortunately this time it’s a one, had pork balls, let’s just say they should be could fat and tube balls, I would give them a wide berth.

A great local Chinese restaurant Fantastic food and plenty of choice..

We thought we would try a sit down Chinese in Street, big mistake. The satay starter was battered chicken in watery gravy which we tried but left. We then waited over an hour for the main meal but gave up, paid for what we’d had and exited. Not a nice experience, takeaways were prioritised over sit in diners. The food was terrible and the service non existent. I don’t give reviews like this lightly but take my advice and avoid eating in here

Definitely worth the drive from Wells. The staff were very friendly and polite on the phone and in the restaurant. The food tasted excellent and wasn’t all dyed lurid colours like some Chinese takeaways. The food was also not too greasy which I appreciate a lot. Would highly recommend their Vegetable Chow Mein!

Best Chinese food for miles around. We travel to collect our take away from them as a result. It's worth the drive as we have never been disappointed. Order over the phone and collect from the small take away counter attached to the restaurant. Always ready on time.

Chips and chicken balls were amazing, and the guy in there was the cheeriest man I think I've ever met haha. Very lovely. The salt and pepper chicken was a bit dry, I think it would be far better with chicken pieces rather than the shredded bits.

Order takeaway from Golden House every month or so. They have decent portion sizes and the foods lovely. Best Chinese takeaway in this area that I've tried.

This restaurant was empty when we arrived, but we were welcomed warmly. The food is a little expensive, but the quality is lovely and the portion sizes are huge! (E.g chicken chow mein £9.50 but easily feeds 2 people). All the food was cooked freshly and was piping hot when served. Would recommend if you’re in the area

Unfortunately no where near as good as it used to be. Very poor flavours and Luke warm noodles and rice.

Fabulous takeaway food popular with locals. I struggled to find a menu online so have pictured the menu and prices which they are using now, Sept 2019, as may be helpful. Ordered early on Sat night, able to collect within 40 mins. Roadside parking fairly limited outside, order was ready when they said it would be. We ordered Kung Po King Prawn which is not on the menu but they were able to do. All the food was spot on.

Lovely family run restaurant. They are very hospitable people. Great food and they tweak the dishes slightly to our taste on request. Chicken in Black bean is my favourite!

Walked in here with my wife on the off chance we might get a table. Needn't have worried only 4 people in restaurant. Shown to our table and given menu. On the starters for Prawn Crackers they want to charge £4 and Pancake Rolls it's £5.50! I mean come on you're having a laugh with these prices. Needless to say we legged it and found another restaurant that doesn't charge Ritz prices. Parking is also a nightmare here as well

This restaurant has been my favourite for over 20 years. The food is tasty and cooked to perfection. Never disappoint. Could do with bigger portion as we find portions small compared to other places. But the quality of food makes up for it.

We have been regulars for fifteen years, which is perhaps the greatest recommendation we can give.Our guest on this occasion is a Sinophile herself, and chose a couple of things from the copious menu which she appreciates - Crispy beef & chili, and a delightful prawn and bamboo shoot dish, We added Satay chicken and a roast pork chow mein to that.Tea was refilled without question, and service was attentive without being overpowering.

Best Chinese I’ve ever eaten ... and I’ve eaten many a Chinese!

Honestly I'm yet to find a Chinese better than this. After leaving Millfield 18 yrs ago I still have cravings for this Chinese. Looks like I'll be taking a trip soon
