Honeymans of Bowburn in County Durham

Amazing vegan cafe in Bowburn. You must give it a try. Hot food and bread products were delicious especially accompanied by a tasty cuppa choosen from a wide selection of black, fruit and herbal teas. The cakes were so light and airy yet full of flavour, a real joy to eat. Take aways were being collected and themed food nights were diariesed. A great place with a warm welcome to boot - what's not to like?

I was a little late getting lunch, so thought I'll stop at the co op as very few sarnie shops around here, then I noticed a sign on the wall for this place & I'm so glad I did. Independent !! as soon as I walked in I loved this place, it's tiny and so original ! & As soon as I walked in the conversation flowed, I could have stayed for a ling while but had to get on and my lil dog doesn't like being left in the truck on her own. Anyway I was after a sandwich, there wasn't much on display & no real menu to see so I had no idea what they do, so I asked what they had, I was offered sweetcorn soup and a tomato sandwich, I must say I'm so used to standard sandwich fillings I was a taken aback a little but the other option was a supermarket sarnie and I do like food so said yeah. So glad I did, served in a homemade olive foccia, no butter just tomato and salt I can honestly say I enjoyed this sandwich more than anything I had eaten for a long time hobestly a bit of tomato sooooo good, the soup was pretty good too and my coffee was perfection. I brought two pieces of foccia away for later but had finished it all before I got anywhere near home, I wish I lived closer but honestly I'd go out of my way to go here. They do evening meals on occasion, a set menu with food from differnt locations on each night, I'm so tempted to try, i think the food would be great but also I expect it's a great chance to meet other like minded people. I can't say enough good things about this place LOVED IT ❤️

Delicious home baked vegan food, pies, pasties, bread and cakes. Sandwiches, pizzas and home made soup available too!

We’ve just had the yummiest cream cheese and ‘pastrami’ sandwiches in garlic and rosemary focaccia. It’s the tastiest sandwich I’ve ever had. Great service too.

There's a wide variety of vegan friendly options, homemade and locally sourced food and drinks, Honeymans of Bowburn is a true gem in the community! The pastry is sooo good, also had a lovely focaccia sandwich for lunch today, delicious!! Can’t forget the flapjack- best I’ve had! So good having this so close to home ☺️

Amazing little gem of a place so happy we found it! The owner's passion for locally sourced food and drink was fab. Lovely atmosphere and owner. All 3 of us loved the Durham flower tea, coffee, sweetcorn soup, sandwiches pastrami and smoked che*se sandwiches, carrot cake and apple / blueberry turnover. So much so that we all got a takeaway too.Looking forward to our return visit!

Found this absolute gem while on a work trip up north and I was amazed. What a fantastic lunch (soup & focaccia) and I had to get some treats to take away with me too! Will be back! 😋

A vegan cafe with a small comfy seating area. I'm not vegan but I was accommodated and enjoyed a nice salad with a dressing and sour dough roll, which was made in the shop. All the food is fresh. The fresh coffee was very good. I had some lovely Marshfield ice cream whichwas delicious.

This cafe is so cosy and welcoming. It is absolutely worth visiting for the warm welcome, delicious food and huge selection of fresh vegan baked goods. You can tell everything is made with love and small businesses like this should be supported.

I've been itching pop in after it opened. I wanted to see what was on offer today for our lunch a bit later. Absolutely delightful welcome and spoiled for choice in terms of fresh bread baked that morning since thd fmdough is proven overnight. All flour is locally sourced, and the coffee supplied is from Fika coffee roasters in Durham. I'm looking forward to sampling the fresh bread later on, but Isla loves the Sausagd rolls, and the Scotch pie was amazing. The pastry was melt in the mouth. The slice of Lemon drizzle cake was super light moist. I highly recommend Honeymans. If your after a few provisions to take on a picnic whilst travelling around County Durham or a spot of lunch whilst working from home. Fresh tea and coffee ready prepared sandwiches or a choice of loaves rolls whatever has been prepared on the day. You can sit in or outside on the seating area, or pop in and buy to go. Everything is locally sourced and plant based Can't wait to go back soon.

Fantastic plant based food and a lovely welcoming owner. We often go on a Saturday to pick up lunch and we're never disappointed.

Visited today with my dad, who remembers the bakery as a cafe when he was younger. The owner was great, keen to discuss my dad's memories and discuss future plans for the bakery. Fantastic food to take out, will definitely return.

Popped in here today, as its local to me. I'm a believer in keeping CASH (which is king of course!) local, and sourcing local products as much as possible! What a lovely man😁 My toddler came away with a cup of ice-cream! I had the sweetcorn chowder 👌 And (I've forgotten the name of it) the Scottish take on a croissant. I wish I'd bought two. ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS!!! We will be back again soon, to work our way through the wonderful selection of yumminess!

Great little café/bakery serving lots of vegan goodies. So good to find somewhere local making real bread. We had a great chat with the lovely owner who clearly knows his stuff when it comes to baking, kombucha, jam making and much more! Also love the fact that bottles and dishes are on a deposit return basis and as many ingredients as possible are locally sources. We will definitely be back.

A brilliant new mainly plant based café ran by the lovely owner Malcolm. We went in today and the service was with a smile which made us feel very welcomed. We ordered some saus*age rolls and a coffee. You can tell Malcolm takes a lot of pride in his baking as the pastry's were delicious! The fresh bread also smelt amazing. A lovely service that they also offer is taking your own containers for take away soup. A wonderful addition to the village and I look forward to going back

What an amazing choice of vegan eats! Thank you for catering for vegans and everybody else, as vegan food can be eaten even by carnivores 😊 It’s amazing to get the variety of food freshly made. Finally, I am not reliant on one choice in a cafe. I am spoiled for choice which is unusual in the area of Ferryhill. We need more businesses like this one. I recommend to everybody to go and check the Honeymans Koffee and Kombucha Kiosk.

Really good choice of fresh tasty food and the coffee is always spot on I've had the soup a few times and the cakes each time I visit as they're very moreish. Apple strudel is amazing! Friendly guy who is always looking to try new recipes and ideas suggested by his customers Defiantly worth a visit

A constantly varying range of delicious vegan produce that shows you can have a health and varied diet without meat and dairy. I especially recommend the Aberdeen Butteries and Bridies which manage to capture the flavour of these Scottish delicacies without needing animal fat. For those who fondly remember holidays in Scotland there is a range of Scottish Morning rolls and items can be ordered if you need to make sure there will be some left. There is also a good range of locally produced honey and Scottish Tablet for those with a sweet tooth.
