One woman is rude to customers, has talons on the ends of her fingers and does not use gloves. She piles the food in the sandwich putting you off your food and walks around with an attitude of being better than everyone else. Avoid!!!

Never met such an aggressive, rude woman who claims this is her partner's business. Please avoid unless you're happy to be shrieked at across the room. So sad to see this business being staffed by such a hostile, threatening woman, please don't set foot in the place.

Went here for the first time ever and must say I will never go back. Woman who served me was not pleasant at all. To make it worse I asked for a sandwich that they had advertised and as they didn't have the normal mix in I was told I would have to pay more as the ingredients are seperate instead of mixed. Still went ahead and ordered along with other salads. NOW I AM NOT A Vegatairan OR VEGAN but if I was I wouldn't go here -after picking up chicken with tongs she proceeded to pick up the salad from the salad pots and put them in the bowl, I was amazed as she did it right in front of me Shame as looks like a nice shop from outside

Me and fiancé absolutely love the Honeycomb! The sandwiches are always amazing. Chinese Chicken is by far the best ever sandwich filling ever created. The buns are fresh and the service is great. Whenever we are in the area we always try our best to go.

The sandwiches are great, but some of the staff members can be quite rude. Recommend the sweet chilli prawn sandwich on poppy seed bread!

I absolutely love this sandwich shop and all of the lovely ladies who work there! especially the lady with short hair who spreads the butter. And she says "spread on" in a very pleasant manner. I reccomend the coronation chicken! it is the best! I would like to work here one day with the ladies and learn how to spread butter like them. 5 star service and I will say once more I love how the butter is spread on my sandwich. Amazing prices except the Jalepenos which are a little spicy and would advise to get less spicy ones. And as ABBA sing 'thank you for the spread' and also I am starting a girl band called the Margarines or the chicken tikkas and I am wondering if you want to join! thank you.

We had popped into the Left Luggage Room at Monkseaton Metro Station for a drink and lunch only to discover that they weren't doing food that day. However it was suggested to us that if we took a left turn out of the station and walked up the hill we could find a really good bakers where we could buy sandwiches to bring back with us. We therefore found the Honeycomb Bakery. They do an amazing range of rolls and sandwiches. First of all you choose your bread and then your filling. Everything is made up fresh and when we told the staff where we were going to eat our purchases they included paper plates and napkins for us. The prices are also unbelievably low. We enjoyed our rolls so much that two days later when we were due to go home via train from Newcastle to Edinburgh we returned to the Honeycomb for more rolls to eat on the train. Much cheaper and far better than the catering available from the trolley on the train.

A small cafe/deli/bakery with friendly staff a great cakes and teas, coffees etc at good prices. They also do bigger "snacks" as well and their sourdough bread is very nice. There are 1 or 2 newspapers around to read while eating/drinking and the food can be taken away as well. Recommended for a visit.

Disappointed with the new layout of the communal areas. It was much better when it was a seperate bar and restaurant. We went for a relaxing family birthday meal (our 2 course meal was included in our room rate) and found it to be anything but relaxing. No designated eating areas therefore we were surrounded by drunk, rowdy people knocking our chairs whilst we were trying to eat our food and generally being disruptive. Tables are too close together. The new work space where the bar used to be is a waste of space at the weekend. I think the hotel would benefit from creating a section for people who are having meals and a section for drinks only. There's nowhere else to sit in the hotel for guests. Couldn't fault our meals or the service however will not be returning for food at the hotel, we will just dine elsewhere if we ever stay again.
