Disappointed with the new layout of the communal areas. It was much better when it was a seperate bar and restaurant. We went for a relaxing family birthday meal (our 2 course meal was included in our room rate) and found it to be anything but relaxing. No designated eating areas therefore we were surrounded by drunk, rowdy people knocking our chairs whilst we were trying to eat our food and generally being disruptive. Tables are too close together. The new work space where the bar used to be is a waste of space at the weekend. I think the hotel would benefit from creating a section for people who are having meals and a section for drinks only. There's nowhere else to sit in the hotel for guests. Couldn't fault our meals or the service however will not be returning for food at the hotel, we will just dine elsewhere if we ever stay again.

Already did a review on facebook, buuut this hotel deserves more reviews on all platforms for the service me and my partner received whilst staying at the hotel in Newcastle!🤭 Lovely staff on arrival, very smiley and welcoming!👏🏻 Women in grey suit was most informative and guided me checking in on the self check in machines, She was very sweet and we had some lovely chats! 🧚🏻‍♂️ Whilst staying I had already phoned in advance about my fella’s 23rd birthday meal and they went out of there way to make it extra special for his birthday, the staff we’re catering and lovely! He received a loveellly chocolate cake with free Prosecco for us both, FOR FREE!...Now that’s how you treat your guests!👏🏻🥰🌈 Thank you for our meals, nothing to fault at all..well done to chef that served us on 26th Jan!💛🧡💚 We hope to re visit in the future!🚗

The food was generally good but we much preferred the old system of the carvery. With then new arrangement where your food is delivered on a plate it means I had some things that I wouldn't have chosen and some, for example the cabbage, which I was served far too much of. It looked like it was done this way to fill up the plate. We would only go back for Sunday lunch if had a similar offer of buy one get one free, I don't think the individual price is very good value for money now, whereas it used to be with the carvery.

I enjoyed Sunday lunch at the Village which was good value as I had a bogof. Don’t think and I’d have been so happy if I’d paid full price of £15 each The food was nice and I loved the selection of appetisers , very nice ! lunch was hot and tasty , I prefer to have the food served rather than carvery so that was good. Nicely cooked veg and good rice Yorkshire pud Only criticism is that the meat was cut very thin and I like a thick slice of meat I’d return when offers are available

To be honest, we were somewhat disappointed in our visit / meal and it was no where near as good as the carvery style sunday menu we thought we were going to get. There was not much choice at all for starters or desserts on the 'help yourself ' part and there was a shortage of desserts, only 2 to choose from - a plain cheesecake and yogurt pot type desert. Also, no spoons available for the soup or deserts. The Sunday lunch itself was quite standard, nothing special. I enjoyed the beef but my husband wasnt impressed with the processed turkey he got. Staff were pleasant enough but we cleared our table of both starters and mains ourself as no one seemed to want to take our used plates away do we ended up putting them onto another table or on the bar! Only positive was that I had purchased a voucher so instead of £50, we spent just over £25. I most certainly wouldn't pay full price for what we got and wont rush back for sunday lunch. Very disappointed as our kids loved it last time with the choice and especially the ice cream machine but this has all been changed and not for the best.

Eaten here on many occasions but didn't enjoy this last experience at all. Booked a table for 3 people for Sunday lunch. Sunday lunch set up has changed and it wasn't a good experience at all. The starters were mainly fish choices. Mini canapes of smoked salmon and avocado, smoked mackerel, mini prawn cocktails, smoked mackerel pate. The only non fish choice was salad or soup. The soup had a sign saying red pepper and tomato, so I thought well at least that's something my daughter can have, lifted the lid and it was green! I asked the waiter what it was, he said sorry I don't know; so I asked him to ask the chef, he came back and said it's leek and potato but didn't change the sign. We ordered three roast chicken dinners which were average although the veg was nice and fresh. The desert table was the left overs from breakfast.... pan au chocolate, yoghurt or chocolate muffin, although the waiter said we could order from the kitchen at an extra cost. My daughter was still hungry when we left, so at a cost of £45 for 3 of us for lunch without our drinks, we didn't feel it was value for money and won't be returning.

this restaurant has been turned into a horrible tacky sports bar. Keep well away, We often ate there or in the bar area. Over the last few months they have knocked walls through and made it into a American style tacky bar/resturant if you could call it that. Locals who often went there are all complaining at the change and how it has been spoilt. The tacky sports bar now attracts the wrong people unfortunately.

The food was generally very good, although no mashed potato, and the roasties and the boiled new potatoes with skins were dry and quite hard. The carrots, cauli and cabbage were spot on though. The place is always empty and that's for a very good reason: it's overpriced. As an example, a main with a side plus a dessert cost me £25.50. And I didn't go for the most expensive options! The food is not bad, but the options are very limited. I had to eat there during a whole week and I got tired of it. I ordered pasta dishes in three different occasions and they pretty much had the same taste. I only tried one of the starters and it was very good. The three sides I tried were very bland. But the deserts were tasty. Moreover, there are almost no options for vegetarians which is quite surprising at this age and in this country. A positive thing are the waiters, which are very young people who really try their best to be friendly and offer a good service, even though they aren't exactly the most experienced. In short, do not go there unless someone else pays for the meal.

Fantastic meal for my sons 13th birthday, brilliant service and rapport with Daniel who was so pleasant, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The halloumi & vegetarian skewers were delicious, ditto the house bacon and cheeseburger... For desert I had pineapple crumble with pouring cream... Bliss in a bowl... We also had Sunday buffet lunch for 7.. That was brilliant... Loads of choice, super fresh salad, antipasti, prawn cocktails.. Gammon, roast beef and turkey roast meat all scrumptious... Beautifully cooked vegetables, exquisite gravy and nothing too much trouble.... Tons of deserts... The profiteroles were a big hit alongside the chocolate fudge cake & brownies.... Really good value, lovely restaurant and atmosphere x

What a lovely Sunday lunch we had. The selection of food was great. Something for everyone and when you are dining with 4 kids that says something. The table arrangement was good for us all to be able to chat . We would have ended with coffee however the service was a little limited although not busy in the restaurant, so decided to have coffee at home.
Overall a great experience and have already recommended it to others and will definitely be back.
Thank you

Very disappointed with the whole service and location for special Mother’s Day treat. This was not located as detailed in the Buca di Beppo restaurant but in a large function room within the hotel with rows upon rows of tables squeezed together with no separation distance for each table. We requested to be reseated immediately as the table allocated was opposite an organ player on high volume which my mother in law did not appreciate with her two hearing aids. The noise generated prevented any conversation. This lunch resembled a day out at the local soup kitchen not at all special in any way. The food was very average not a great deal of selection on offer certainly not worth the money paid. There was no organisation between service staff we waited 25 minutes for drinks arriving only when we chased. We were advised we could only pay at the end of the meal if we left a credit card behind the bar however this was not the case with other tables around us. I will not be recommending nor visiting this hotel again, very disappointing overall

When we arrived we were shown to a table which was not set, still had stains on the tablecloth but there were lots of empty, dressed tables around. We had to wait for the staff to change and set the table whilst sitting there which I did not feel was appropriate for the special occasion of Mother's Day. As it was our first time at this venue we had to ask how the system worked for getting our food - some you served/got yourself and some came from the kitchen and was served to you, this wasn't very clear and should've been explained on arrival or with a menu on the table. It was advertised that a magician and face painter would be there on the day, the magician was obviously mid way through his show when we arrived at 2.45 and then was packed up and ready to leave at 3.30? Also after we had finished our meal my daughter went to get her face painted to be told by the lady that the 2 girls sitting on the sofa were her last of the day because she had to leave, so my daughter came back to the table very disappointed! To advertise these I think they should have been present for the whole of the dining experience or this should've been explained at the time of booking what times the entertainers were going to be there from and to. I'm not expecting the magician to be doing a whole show for 5 hours or longer but he could've done tricks at the tables or made balloon models as I've seen him do this before and 1 face painter was definitely not enough and again should've been there for longer, not turning children away! Overall the food was delicious, the staff were apologetic about the table and helpful when asked any questions. If they ironed out these minor issues then it would have been a fantastic dining experience.

Overall not a bad experience, we opted for the Mother’s Day lunch which was tasty with plenty of choice for all 4 courses. The only suggestion I would make is to steer clear of the dining room layout which the hotel had decided on as it lacked a certain ambiance that you would expect for a special occasion.

Having visited the chains restaurants in America we were looking forward to trying the uk version of the same restaurant. The only thing that's the same is the decor and the name. I was disappointed at the lack of pizza and pasta/sharing options. Instead the menu was limited and a lot of English dishes instead with a clear lack of Italian options. Having said that we did enjoy the food we had (risotto and burger) but did find it pricey.

SHOCKING.
- Marks out of 10: 1/10 (Out waitress was nice)
- Likelihood of going back: NO CHANGE

Details:
- We arrived here for a valentines meal having seen the reviews on Open Table. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS PLACE HAS SUCH GOOD REVIEWS.
- Food was average at best and cutlery, glasses etc were dirty.
- Bill came to around £50. Very expensive based on the poor quality of food prepared I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE you'd get a better meal at McDonalds.
- Open Table you need to look at who is reviewing this place as it wouldn't surprise me if it were the people who worked there.
