Fantastic bakery selection, fresh pizzas which taste better than a takeaway, quick queues, McDonald’s in store and the most friendly staff in any supermarket both in store and delivery- what more could you want from a supermarket!

Great big store, with McDonald's inside, petrol station too.

NEVER EVER ORDER FOOD FROM THIS MCDONALDS. Incompetent staff, missing items from delivery and very poor quality food.

This shop got worse and worse over time. Now it's just disgusting to go in. Windows have bird poo on entry, rubbish everywhere and bins are always full. Inside the store it's a mess as well, quite often there are no self checkout scanners available, veggie weight sticker printing machines are constantly broken. Just feels like there is no manager for this store at all?? Either they are all fired or just not doing anything at all. Sort your mess out.

I used the scan and go app. This extremelly rude lady, Luise (or something like that) had to check and remove all the items from my shopping bags even when i ve already scanned everything properly, refusing to help me put them back and leaving them all around the place! In the meantime she was arguing with another custumer refusing to give him shopping bags!!! Wow, last time i m going there for my shopping

Terrible Shop, Shelf’s empty, to many obstructions to get to Shelf’s, Only 2 Tills on, waited 15 Minutes just to get through Till, Will avoid in future and go somewhere else

Just been to Asda Benton. Waiting in McDonald's for my partner who is in the opticians. Moved seats twice but cannot escape the obnoxious smell from the toilets. Eventually went and sat outside. Please do something about this as it has been a long standing problem

Most of times long queue for customer service and only one person serving,

went to do my usual Friday lunchtime shop. no self scanners available. got to checkouts there were 3 manned checkouts all rammed. no one at self scan so goodness knows where all the scanners were. trolley shop absolutely choc a bloc. your staff are run ragged and there are not enough of them you encourage self scan butnpeople are waiting ages. not a manager in site. this has been getting progressively worse every week. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I was notnthe only disgruntled shopper in the queue.

Home shopping pickers needs to take more notice when picking fresh food mg daughter got delivery today ordered yogourts for my little grandchildren . Absolutely disgusting the date was 3rd April . I no idea why she gets gets her shopping delivered from here often mistake are made like baby milk still tagged unable to get tag off so had to buy baby milk else where and not easy been anti reflux milk . Personally I would not spend all my money here for all these mistakes

Great store, shop here all the time and love the free coupons off of the app! They need to sort out the staff on the self check outs they are too busy talking with each other instead of helping customers. Cheers!

Absolutely terrible service, I had to walk out as the optician talked to me like utter dirt.He cut me off every sentence with a raised voice. I was trying to explain my problem,he kept telling me to shut up,his attitude stunk,he was treating me like a kid at school. The elderly lady was very polite but the optician himself has no people skills,no care whatsoever that's me stopped shopping at asda

How very disappointing Asda, On afew occasions now I've visited afew stores for the valentines deal but each time I've not been able to buy the deal as Asda has been short of either the Sides or the pudding!!! So had to go to Mark's and spencers!! Was really good but cost me more than I hoped to pay.

I didn’t even get into the shop as they now have locks on their trolleys in this ever increasing cashless society. I guess it’s off to Tesco with my coinless pockets I go.

This is due to a member of staff who consistently harasses and asks for MY id I get asking me twice I don't mind getting asked twice in the same day by different people I do mind getting asked 6 times with 48 hours of the same person this is clearly harassment and a complaint has been filed

Good....as expected, not too busy except the pizza counter, I'd buy a cheese pizza and put my own toppings on.

Has not changed at all, mainly very good produce and a wide variety of groceries and other products.

Please bring back the changing rooms! So many lovely clothes that I will not buy to take home as it’s too much hassle and then having to queue in that massive queue to return anything because they have taken the George desk away! No thanks!

I love asda George clothes but why have they closed the changing rooms? Hate having to buy, take home, try on them return standing in a second massive queue at cigarette kiosk to return If no changing rooms at least have a customer service desk please. Puts me off buying

Employers staff who are deaf on night shift who like to block the isles so wheelchair users can't get past. No staff around to help either 🙃

Went here on Mon 31 Oct 2022 around mid day store was a mess cages left standing unattended in aisles more gaps than produce on the shelves. Used self scan and i have to say they were filthy, looked like the screens had been wiped with a dirty greasy cloth. I asked the host for blue roll she said i dont have any and done nothing to rectify the situation. I had trouble getting barcode to scan as the laser was that dirty i told the host again her screens were dirty she just looked at me " dont you bother yourself i will just use my coat sleeve, which i ended up doing. On second glance at other screens they were all in same condition. I was here Monday 31st Oct at around 12.30, the host was a female aged around 40ish with short dark blond hair and glasses, slim and around 5ft tall. FAST FORWARD 1 yr, called in 7am Nov 17th and the place is still the same, even down to the dirty self scans, i tend to use Asda Wallsend and their self scans are immaculate.

Staff always complaining in front of customers, they never seem happy! The place looks like it's been ransacked and the prices increase weekly. I now shop at Sainsburys were the shopping experience is much better, prices are cheaper and shelves are well stocked.

I do a weekly shop here every Thursday after work.The lack of stock, empty shelves over the last week's/months is shocking. Basic things like fish, deodorant, cooked meats,wine to list a few. There seems less staff as well. For the size of this store the stock levels are a joke. A good retailer keeps the shelves full, standards here are at an all time low. I drive past Morrisons on way to here but if standards don't improve I'm going back to Morrisons. I'll cash in my savers pot and vote with my feet. This used to be a great store, gone down hill massively.

I haven't been to a Macdonald's for 15+ years but a toddler wanting an ice cream brought us in. Coffees and ice creams were good. Ordered at self service machine then brought to our table. I pads for kids to play on - only 2/4 working and kids on them did not move the whole time we were there. One staff member walking around chatting and cleaning up was really trying to be helpful and friendly - made all the difference. We would go back based on this customer service.

**Monday 14th August between 2-3pm** I’m sorry that collecting an online order from the store was such a massive inconvenience for one of your employees today. I entered the code and the machine said that a colleague would arrive shortly with the order. After standing by the machine for over 5 minutes, I was unsure whether to ask a member of staff if I had done the right thing… but then a woman appeared carrying a box walking towards me. The lack of customer service was absolutely appalling. Unfortunately, I did not check her name badge but she had blonde short hair and was wearing glasses. All she said to me was “name” to which I replied with my forename. She stared blankly so I thought maybe she hadn’t heard so I politely repeated my forename but yet again no response from her!? So I told her my surname as she was not saying anything to me? This is the first time I’ve ever collected an order so was unsure on the exact procedure. She glanced at the package again and did not even hand it to me I had to take it out of her arms. Then she glared at me, stared me up and down, and walked away. I was utterly confused and to be honest the whole experience was laughable. I left the shop feeling really disgruntled and annoyed. She clearly does not enjoy the click and collect role and should not be in a customer service role because there was absolutely none of that. 😂

Terrible way of dealing with customers. Hung up on 4 times while speaking on the customer service line. Unable to reach anybody in store who would be able to easily and quickly help. No logic at all.

Absolutely diabolical customer service with on line grocery’s OMG 4 attempts to explain the issue with 2 agents conveniently disappearing It’s an absolute joke Please can a Manager get in touch although according to Your agents You don’t have any Managers Update My issues and concerns were dealt with a very helpful Lady called Natalie from the Asda Benton branch I can’t thank Natalie enough Such a shame the on line side of the operation isn’t as helpful

Decent shop, price on shelf can sometimes be different at checkout which is annoying. Staff are mostly nice but sometimes can be a bit pathetic and don’t seem to like teenagers being in (whether they cause trouble or not) just what I have seen btw. Customer service is pretty good if you are confused or need help with something. I do love the grab and go section!!! In addition, the McDonalds is dreadful, many occasions have I been served food that seems to be undercooked, overcooked, out of date etc. I have had many unusual McFlurrys and once was served an either (I’m not sure which) raw/very undercooked chicken legend (grey and cold). This later led to me being quite ill for the following days. Overall not bad but could be better.

I wish to take a moment to express my deep regard and thanks to your member of staff within your optician shop , Asda , Benton. On two occasions now, I have been dealt with by this wonderful man, Dan, the dispensing optician. On both occasions I was given his full time , and attention, I was treated with utmost courtesy , kindness and respect which I find seldom ,if not ever seen these days. My mother and I went to Asda yesterday 16/4/23 , now my mother is 86 years old ,we wanted to go through the tills only the queue’s were very long . I had a full trolley of my own shopping so we had no choice but to go through the self scan then a lovely member of staff offered to help my mother with her shopping on the self scan , I think her name was Carol and I know she has been there at Asda Benton for years . I would just like to say “ Thank you Carol “

Handy dandy store but the most unsupportive and demeaning staff. No harm in asking for abit of help but it seems like a crime to even ask…🫣

This Asda has gone right downhill over the years...in that I mean lack of stock.. no staff...and I absolutely hate those self serve tills..they never work and you have to wait ages a staff member to correct something...10 years ago every till was on you were in and out.

I visit ASDA boldon every week, there's normally always problems with scan and go, but on one occasion I was purchasing a bottle of milk, the first three I picked up were a week out of date! I pointed this out to one of your employees who tried to disagree by picking a different bottle up, then he didn't say a word picked them up went in your stock room, came out and walked past me

All good ,cracking valentines deals,wine,starter,main,2 sides ,desert & sky cinema pass all for £15 ,loads to choose from,and you can put some in your freezer if your not using it ,and £1.50 in your cash pot ,

Every time I go to this Asda I have problems. I actually hate this shop now and will never go back! Hi Dave, The customer service from some of youre staff is just unacceptable, unhelpfull, rude, no eye contact, couldn't care less attitude, unapproachable and from mature staff who youd think would know how to interact with customers. Price on shelfs different when you get to the till, fruit and veg literally good off when still in date. Its the most miserable experience shopping there. The amount of complaints I see for this shop is unreal and clearly nothing is being done so I will never shop here again.

Well Asda Benton strikes again. Visited this morning to find all trolleys are now locked and require £1 coin. No problem for me but in a cashless society this was causing at lot of frustration and anger, some people simply left to shop somewhere else. When will they ever learn, would it have been so hard to put up posters telling customers of the change 🤔

Visited Asda today 27/01/23 to buy 4 create your own pizzas, heavily pregnant I stood in a queue for around 5 minutes for the woman working to have an attitude saying she was not making all of my pizzas because she’s closes at 7:45 at this time it was only 7.40. When I asked her why she didn’t tell anyone who was queuing she was closed she told me again she was not making all of my pizzas. I asked my partner what topping he would like on his for the lady on the counter to tell me to ‘hurry up’ I asked her why she had such a horrible attitude for her to once again tell me to ‘hurry up’ again with an attitude. I don’t believe any customer should be spoken to like that especially if we are spending money in your store. Needless to say, we put our shopping back and I will not be returning any time soon. Absolute disgrace. This woman should not be working with the public and maybe needs training in customer service.

Great store and fresh produce. I spend £200 per week in Asda Benton, I am in twice a week for the first time in years I forgot my purse so had to pay on my phone: unhelpful person on the self service. I additionally had ID and my blue light card on my phone both refused with my NHS discount, ive always had my purse and spoken to the same member of staff for years. So i am very surprised to that the member of staff was rude, unhelpful, disrespectful. when speaking to the manager she would not budge on the blue light card, fair enough but it doesn’t excuse the bad customer service i have just encountered. For the first time ever. BUT LOVELY CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE SECURITY team they are always helping out the staff on the floor either doing some packing ect that i have seen over the years, trolly workers also helping and making conversation. A review doesn’t have to be all bad. Just the one member of staff that spoils a great team of staff.

If i could leave no stars i would, i was in store yesterday, the self service staff had no customer service skills whatsoever, i found them rude and demeaning. I must mention however the young lad in this section was very polite. No one could direct me to where i was to collect my item and their attitude was terrible.I have never experienced such a negative experience when shopping at Asda and will not be returning to this store.

I went to Asda Benton yesterday (13/12/2022) bought a prawn linguine ready meal. Went to have it today and the prawns didn't taste right. Had a look at the box only to find out that it went off on the 9th. I normally check dates but as i was eating the next day and it was not marked down didn't feel the need to. Apparently you need to check for expired food here as quality checks don't seem to exist

Always like shopping here but this morning bought a couple of cheese boards , opened them up 3 packs of cheese blown and one with mould growing on it . It's dated use by 3/1/23 !! It's only the 2nd of December !!

Used my Bluelight card yesterday to purchase 55 selection boxes for a charity event. The assistant was most unhelpful, telling me my card could not be used for this type of transaction. How nhs staff were fraudently missusing their Bluelight card. How nhs staff were passing their 10% off, onto their families, buying food for their families instead of just themselves! She was obvisouly not a fan of Bluelight cards. Making your customers feel there acting fraudently and giving them a lecture on the missuse of bluelight cards by nhs staff, dosent demonstrate great customer service. Hail back to Thursday nights at 8pm, clap for the NHS, but now a distant memory for your staff member 💙.

*Edit* November 2022. Somehow this store gets worse and worse. Searching for CEO email addresses to complain about a simple shopping trip is mind blowing but that's how bad I find this place and don't know why I put myself through going there. Near zero covid security, lanes blocked so no option but to get close to customers & colleagues. On my latest visit the isle with ready meals fridges appeared to be leaking. The opposite side being filled leaving no option but to negotiate the sloppy floor. Luckily, I didnt fall but it left my trainers so wet it was difficult to walk. The colleague filling the isle totally unaware of my presence ripped a box up and as his arm swung away nearly took my head off. Next isle, blocked so had to negotiate past 3 other customers. On this note I'd like to add that roughly less than half custoners in the store had face masks on. I then went to pay... waiting for an assistant to confirm I am over 18... they actually managed to not acknowledge me at all, no hello, eye contact, anything at all. In a climate where retail is struggling this place amazes me

The toilets are in bad shape. It's currently Friday night and there is a long queue for the pizza counter, but only 1 person on the counter. The McDonalds inside this store, is full of undesirables, who do as they please, no security in sight. Some left and proceeded to leave through a fire door setting off the alarm. Didn't feel safe for my 2 kids honestly. Don't recommended going to the McDonalds there at all.

So it's friday afternoon 3pm we find loads of empty shelves with no-one refilling them. Then we get to the tills and out of approximately 15 tills there are only 2 tills operating .Unacceptable, but go to self scan and there are approximately 5 members of staff twiddling their thumbs leaning against machines.sort yourselves out asda , prices going up and service getting worse.

An emergency visit to McDonald's as one of my grandchildren was having a tantrum. A full on screaming performance. It was quiet yet there was no table service. My first (& last) McDonald's breakfast. A tiny little bun with an overcooked egg. No taste whatsoever. The laptop computers weren't working either. The kids weren't happy. As an "anti" fast food person. This visit did nothing to convert me. Awful food. Ok coffee. The boys didn't finish the milkshakes.

Went in here today to do some shopping needed the toilet so went but they stunk of Pooh absolutely disgusting, apart from the lack of cleaning the shops actually quite alright.

Customer service is a distant memory at this store as you cannot actually speak to a human being unless you go into the store and wait in an enormous queue. Click and collect does not work, the app does not work and although the staff are generally good they have far too much to do. Bye forever.

I shop in the evenings as work through the day and everytime I do the free from isle is blocked with lots of crates of food during stacking of shelves, this has now happened many, many times, I've sent several emails with images to asda and no reply at all. As I've had to go to Morrisons after every asda trip for my gf foods I am now going to skip asda and go straight there instead!

4 deep at the tills, asda to tight to get extra till staff, while 2 staff stand chatting about their weekend while looking at the queues, this is becoming a regular thing.. time to find a new supermarket!

Have mixed opinions, and had some poor experiences with staff. They have recently changed the staff on the pizza counter, it's not a change for the better! There was one incident when a member of staff was very rude!

The shop is great, but some of the staff are horrible, and embarrassed laughing at a poor man in a wheelchair while shouting about him.

Not worth the 8 hour trip, but to be honest, it is quite nice.

Don’t understand why Asda has got rid of the fitting rooms! I had lots of clothes I wanted to try on before I bought them but couldn’t try them on! Wasn’t going to just buy them as might not like them, then for me to have to bring them back! Won’t be shopping here again!! Pointless!!

I was here last Thursday when I suffered a heart attack, the staff came to my aid they were fantastic. There quick response in summing a ambulance probably saved my life I can't thank them enough they even looked after my car till my friends could pick it up. I will forever be in your dept. Got 2 pizzas made to order not happy when opened to cook topping all in the middle yet again leaving me to have to disassemble so topping not 2 inches away from the sides come on asda teach your staff how to make pizzas

Dismal experience at the click and collect last week. New area created with 6 bays, not numbered. A notice for you to click "I'm here" on app or ring a number. I don't have app so rang, waste of time as the staff just said someone would come out, didn't take any details. There was 1 man on duty and all bays had people waiting. The trolleys goods are brought out on are very low and difficult to manoeuvre, especially around cars with a bad back. I hope these issues are teething problems of a new system!

Bag tore at self service check out, went to replace it with another, staff member then accuses me of taking it without paying for it, i explain i have just paid and it, security then called because i refused to pay for a 2nd!

Delivery drivers are vile from here, very disrespectful and rude!!!!!

Called in for the first time and found a very cold reception. attitude from a couple of staff quite abrupt and not friendly . Same in macdonalds cold and abrupt manner. Would not come back Badley signed store in reference to covid

Went to this asda as they had advertised online that they sell maternity clothes, However when getting here they have none at all. Understandable, maybe they were out of stock. I then got the rest of my shopping in and when using the self service checkout the till kept doing the "unexpected item in bagging area" when asking a member of staff that was walking by for help she simply put her hand up and said no i cant im finished now im going home! Which i get its the end of your shift and you want to get home to family but this would have taken 2 seconds of her time. Just thought she was very rude the way she dealt with it. Then asked a man for help and he just said he was busy and to ask another member of staff! Shocking customer service if you ask me! Probably wont be back! You get better bloody service at aldi and they pretty much throw your shopping at you when serving.

A big "thank you" to Jan (bread goods' shelf-stacker) who, at about 8.45 am today, cheerfully went to the stockroom to seek the item I was looking for. She is a credit to the store and I hope that she is informed of this good review for her.

My partner has returned home upset at having felt very unsafe on her visit to benton store and apparently the store was grossly overcrowded and social distancing was therefore impossible further to this staff on floor stacking shelves etc were not wearing masks also on entering the store there was no hygiene supplies available to disinfect trolleys or to clean hands .considering the fact we are in a tier 4 area this is unacceptable and for the immediate future we will shop elsewhere.

I have just been to Asda Benton store today. This is the first time I have felt unsafe during this pandemic. Especially with the new strain and In Tier 4 I found the following . No paper towels to wipe trolleys No one counting people in for crowd control therfore the queues were horrendous with no way of trying to maintain social distancing. Staff, of all ages not wearing masks when stacking shelves. This is simply dangerous and unacceptable given the current situation. I would like a response from management how they can deal with this situation in the future.

I visited the benton store on Saturday 14 November and it was crowded no social distancing at all people pushing past ques up the isle whole families out together I thought it was one member per houshold to enter shop.Going to try Morrisons for my shop next time

Absolutely terrible, full of people, no one limiting the number of customers coming in, everyone crammed in together on top of each other, backed up queues every aisle. What's the point of lockdown restrictions if everyone is stuffed in like cattle?

Awful store - rotting fruit and vegetables, poor Covid measures and very rude staff. The quality of food bought from this store was also very poor - would not visit again.

Being a superstore, it has a wide selection of goods. Clean and spacious with plenty of car parking spaces.

I have shopped at this asda store for years unfortunately all the members of staff who have been there for years need to do retraining in customer service bakery,chicken ,lottery they are absolutely shocking everyone on tills are lovely

Just come out of Asda and very disappointed there was NO social distancing, i believe this was because there was just too many people in store. Also, the "arrows" on the floor might as well not be there, just 1 small green arrow at the top / bottom of each isle. Come on Asda get your act together like other stores have. I didnt feel safe at all in there today.
