We decided to give Honey Hill a try, as we live nearby. I popped in and booked a table for two for 7pm. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised how welcoming the reception we got upon entering the premises. Rob the proprietor and Mitch the waiter were extremely polite and accommodating. The restaurant is very cosy with only a minimal amount of seating inside. We picked a table next to the window overlooking the Bell Hotel that is permanently closed at the moment. Mitch took our drinks order to which my wife had cafe latte and myself had English Breakfast tea. There is alcohol on the premises. We both ordered starters and the main course at the same time. Presently the starters were brought to the table, the presentation was good. My wife ordered Arrancini rice balls served with a herb and garlic mayonnaise, and I ordered Focaccia romana garlic flatbread. My wife's starter came in a bowl with the mayonnaise in a small porcelain container. My starter was presented on a small wooden cutting board. The starters were prepared and cooked fresh. Once finished the starters, there was a short break before the main course arrived. My wife ordered a Prosciutto eh funghi pizza but with some changes to the topping. She didn't want the Truffle Oil, but asked if she could have Red Onions instead, her wish was granted. I had the Margherita. The pizzas were about 12 inches in diameter when arrived, again freshly cooked and with fresh toppings. You couldn't fault the food, it was superb. As my wife is Spanish/Italian, she said the pizzas tasted exactly like authentic Italian pizzas. In the time we spent in the restaurant, we wasn't rushed to finish our meals. We both had a thoroughly pleasant evening, and would recommend Honey Hill as a restaurant for authentic Italian pizzas, and a warm and pleasant place to eat.

Myself my husband and a friend have just had a lovely evening in this charming little restaurant. Our welcome was warm and friendly by Robert , one of the owners, his wife Nicola, runs the kitchen popped in to say hello, (a nice touch).I don’t usually write reviews but I just had to praise the food, it was delicious. My husband and myself had a lovely pasta dish , wonderful soft little pillows of chicken stuffed pasta with a delicious creamy lemon sauce. My friends pizza was the best she’d ever had, we finished our meal with a lovely tirimasu, great coffee and an indulgent dessert wine, so thank you Nicola and Rob for a truly memorable experience.

We visited on a Saturday evening, and chose pizzas from the extensive menu. They were superb; the best we have eaten for a considerable time - fresh and bursting with flavour. There was a decent wine list with wines available by the bottle or glass. Our desserts - homemade tiramisu and a classic Italian affogato were also delicious. The owners are friendly and take pride in what they serve. We had a lovely evening, and the prices charged were not inflated, in our opinion, given the quality of food on offer. A warm welcome when we arrived, attentive (but not stiff) and friendly service, tasty dishes and superb value (£25 for 3 courses). Nice ambience and relaxed atmosphere. Honey Hill is a small brasserie so obviously the menu isn't extensive but our party of four all very much enjoyed our choices. These included the Souffle, Croquettes and Smoked Trout tart for starters, The Pithivier, Cottage Pie and Stuffed Chicken for mains, and Creme Caramel, Chocolate Torte and Poached Pear for pudding. They also open for lunch (which we haven't tried yet) but we are heading back for dinner this evening and really looking forward to it.

We stopped off In clare on the way to visit family and visited Honey Hill and very glad we did. It is a small cosy restaurant with a relaxed setting. They do a fixed 2 or 3 course evening meal priced at £20 & £25 respectively. My partner had the Cheese Soufflé to start and he said was perfect!! . My Serrano Ham was equally of high quality and tasted just like in a traditional Spanish taverna. . Our mains of StuffedChicken Breast and Braised steak in red wine were equally of high quality and well presented. I spoke to the owner who apparently just took over the place. Well I woudnt have guessed as I was impressed. We did have 3 courses and for £25 each I wish we lived closer and go again as it was almost fine dining at gastro pub prices!! Go before they realise but I'd still go even if they did put it up. They don't have any parking but plenty in the square and side streets. Sorry only 1 pic of my starter as we just enjoyed the experience.

My wife and I had the most wonderful evening here for our anniversary. The food and wine was top class. I love that the restaurant is a bit higgledy-piggledy, giving it so much charm. We were able to relax for the first time in many years. When we first walked in there was no music, which we loved, although as the evening progressed and we were the only people left, the chef put on some big band and other jazz, which made our day. The menu is relatively small, which always instils confidence in me as it means they do a small menu beautifully but have something for any taste. A wonderful mix of informal yet classy food. Can't wait to go back again, maybe for the Sunday roast! Thank you!

We had a first class meal in this pretty Brasserie at a very reasonable price . This is the sort of lovely local restaurant you find all over France but usually hope for in vain here in England . We started with prawns and then duck for my husband and lamb for me - both cooked exactly as ordered and in well flavoured sauces . Parmentier potatoes were delicious and included in the price, as were the green beans. We had scrumptious homemade rice pudding from a good choice of desserts . Poached pear is also on the menu and homemade Bakewell Tart . With a very good bottle of French wine and coffee and chocolates we paid £70 in total for our 3 course dinner . A real bargain , you even get good quality bread , butter and olives to nibble while looking at the menu . We loved the relaxed ambience, the delicious food at a reasonable price and the warm welcome from the Chef Patron and his wife . You can even park easily in the market square next to the restaurant . Who needs a holiday in France when you have a restaurant as good as this close by ?

It was my birthday meal and we were not disappointed as everything was just perfect. The menu was varied and catered for all tastes. All the food was piping hot and we weren't rushed along between courses. I had the roasted haddock and my husband the crab. Both were excellent and nicely presented. The olives and bread we were given when browsing the choices on the menu were very nice and complimentary as were the after dinner hand made chocs which were yummy. All the prices were very reasonable , not as expensive as some so called gastro pubs and much better quality. The whole place was spotlessly clean and there was a nice atmosphere with lots of other diners chatting and enjoying their dining experience. We are staying in the area from Somerset for a few months and will definately be visiting again as we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening , many thanks to our hosts.

This is a relatively new restaurant in Clare replacing a cafe. It is a little niche but fills a real gap in the town. It has been extensively redecorated in a pleasing and quirky fashion (but why the glitter balls - out of place and please remove!). The food was excellent. Some great vegetarian options and the fish dishes were wonderful. The mushroom and leek tartlet was worth the meal alone and the seafood casserole was fresh and delicious, and actually so filling I couldn’t manage one of the excellent looking puddings. We didn’t have the meat dishes but they looked good on the neighbouring table. Relatively small and only opens 3 nights per week but is a real addition and asset to Clare. The staff were very friendly and helpful and service was prompt and efficient and very responsive. Loved the place.

I had wanted to try this little Brasserie for a while and finally managed to get a booking some weeks ahead, a good sign I thought. I looked at the menu on line and thought this looks very promising. So far so good. On the evening of our visit the restaurant was busy and crowded. We were squeezed into a table which involved me being constantly bashed by the woman behind me. No where else to move to so I stayed put. The restaurant is small and a tad crowded. The waiting staff were very pleasant but not terribly efficient, No drinks order taken when we arrived. Just given menus and then no sign of them for 15 mins, then a further 15 mins for the drinks to arrive. Food order was eventually taken but we were still sitting there waiting an hour after we had arrived. I hate to be negative about this, I know how hard it is to run a small business and how difficult to find staff but this cramping and delay certainly took the gloss off the visit. Food arrived, it wasn't great and a bit amateurish. I am not looking for Haute Cuisine and good bistro cooking would be fine but honestly' if I cooked this at home I would have been disappointed. Not awful, just uninspired and pedestrian. By this time I was fairly disappointed, I couldn't say anything was bad enough in itself to complain about other than the wait but I could see how busy they were so gave a little leeway on that. The owner seems to make a bit of an effort to find out if you enjoyed the meal but appearing in civvies in the middle of the restaurant and asking for your views on the meal in a crowded room is not going to elicit any response other than everything was ok, at least from a Brit. I really wanted to like this restaurant, clearly others do but for me it was a disappointing visit. I will try again at some future time and hope for a better experience.

Popped in on the off chance of some warm food that was suitable for Vegans and was not disappointed. Though I didn't see any clear food choices on the menu, the chef saw me looking and asked if I needed assistance, I explained my circumstance and he was happy to help, he offered me a few menu choices and offered to make me a sandwich not usually on the menu to ensure I got something to eat. Bit he and the lady who owned the place were kind, and welcoming. The cafe itself was clean, well lit and decorated in a wonderful way, selling local artists pieces as well, it's a pleasure to see a place like this in the community. If my made up sandwich was anything to go by, the rest of the food will be extraordinary. Thank you again guys, it was exactly what I needed!

The breakfasts there are fantastic, they are dog friendly and our little frenchie happily had a snooze most mornings under our table. All in all I can’t rate the place high enough. Definitely make it a stop on your Suffolk tour if you get the chance!

Great food, prices and staff. I love the coffee and the all day breakfasts. If they don't have what you want on the menu they'll do their best to help. Their sausages are the best!

Had an excellent lunch at the HH Cafe. Food was fresh and beautifully cooked, and plenty of it. Don't forget to check out the specials board, which had a focus on interesting fish dishes. Coffee was superb as was my hot chocolate. The service was friendly and efficient, and watch out for the waitresses home made earrings! Another pleasant surprise was the bill - 2 mains, 1 dessert and 4 drinks for just over £20. We shall definitely be going back and are happy to recommend.

This is a very decent restaurant and it's a pity it doesn't open during the evening. It is a quality offering and although it doesn't serve alcohol it operates to the Australian BYO style which is fine. It serves good seafood as well as other dishes. Service is good and friendly. A very comfortable place to spend brunch/lunch through to last service around 16.30. Reasonable prices. Like it a lot.

Third time we have been here now and each time seems to get better. We travel from Cambridge because the food and welcome are always so lovely. This time we had the lobster. It was first class and so reasonably priced. The owners are lovely and really take pride in the food and the service they offer. The coffee is great too!

Always a great welcome. Food is excellent and the coffee great. A bonus is being able to have your 4-legged friend with you.

A spotlessly clean very pretty cafe. This was our second visit and we were not disappointed because the food and service was just as excellent as our first visit. There was no problem getting a gluten free option, everything was freshly prepared. If you are in Clare and looking for a gluten free light lunch, this is the place to visit. My husband (non Coeliac) was equally pleased especially with the delicious home made Victoria Sponge. The owners who run the cafe are charming and made us very welcome.

We usually go to another cafe when visiting Clare but wanted to try somewhere new. We were very impressed, my husband had the full English and I had avocados and poached eggs which was fabulous. Breakfast food is served all day, the rest of the menu is slightly limited but enough choice for most. Staff were friendly and attentive. Toilet was clean although there is only one. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and lots of pictures etc. to look at - it used to be an old antique shop. We would definitely return if visiting Clare again. The diet cokes were on the expensive side but came in a bottle so usually are.

Super friendly and true care and attention in every direction. Talked to the chef about his Walnut, Pear and Stilton Salad. Great knowledge of food and nutrition. Will definitely return for more of the same. A super find in a beautiful town.

I dine at this excellent Cafe a few times a week usually for a Full English breakfast. The food is truly excellent, well cooked and decent portions. The service is friendly and welcoming and it’s position in the centre of Clare means you can relax, watch the world go by and enjoy.

We found Honey Hill Cafe by accident. I wish we hadn't. The staff were disinterested, and the food when it finally arrived, was awful. I ordered carbonara, which arrived as a solid mass of goo with no sauce and large lumps of ham cut into it. My husband ordered prawns which were so hot as to be a danger to the mouth! If they want returning customers, they had better sharpen their act.

On our way home from Burnham-on-Crouch we got diverted of the main road and finished up in Clare so we decided to have lunch there. We popped into the Honey hill cafe, I ordered sautéed mushrooms on buttered toast topped with poached egg . What a good choice very well done it was very tasty.

First visit to Clare. Convenient location just off car parking. Atmosphere, nice cosy seats, spacious clean toilet, staff were great. My biggest mistake was ordering pasta carbonara ( I was so hungry!). I am sorry to say that tasted horrible, even it's not pasta, it was made by Chinese egg noodle. I hate food waste and tried but could not eat. Even my little boys or husband would not help. I wanted to address to staff but husband stopped me because he wanted to pay and go as quickly as possible. He enjoyed his full breakfast. I regret I should have ordered egg dishes, or scones.

We had the absolute pleasure to visit this lovely gem of the world of Suffolk. We’ve been greeted by lovely, friendly people. The place is amazingly decorated, warm and welcoming, it even has a book exchange. I’ve spotted a book that looked interesting and the lovely owner offered me to take it although i didn’t have a book in exchange, I refused because it would have been too cheeky as we live far from Suffolk but the gesture was so lovely! Thank you!

The pizzas they're selling are quite small but very tasty! With the pub next door this is a great place in Bury to have a drink and a bite to eat in a nice lively atmosphere. We have a lovely evening.

Best pizza in Bury St eds. Had a stuffed crust BBQ pizza and the base was so good and the toppings and cheeses were loaded on there and delicious, reminded me of the awesome pizza I used to have back in the US. Not cheap but well worth it, so much better than a domino's or other big chain pizza, which taste a bit plastic in comparison. This pizza was proper. People working there were very nice too, I had an injured hand and they helped put the pizza in the car for me Updated to say their tomato sauce base pizzas also excellent They do a good gluten free pizza option as well

Nik and the staff were excellent hosts for our group of 18 cyclists. Coffee was available at the start when we arrived at 9am and lunch orders taken. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their lunch on our return at 1pm after a beautiful ride through the quiet lanes of Suffolk and Essex. Will definitely return again.
