Used to be great. Now very average. Expensive and small burgers. Better places in Reading to go.

Came here with a large group for a work lunch, ordering was smooth and the food was very good (and excellent value with the lunch deal!). Huw provided excellent service for us all, would definitely recommend!

One of my favourite places to have burger and drink. We went here yesterday for 'dinner'. After placing the order, the food came bit late. I was bit irritated with the flickering light on top of the table. When the bill came, they gave us 50% discount on the bill due to the delay to serve food. I was not expecting it but was mighty surprised in a good way. Looking at the discount, my 15yr old daughter said, this is the best 'dinner' she had :-))

Ordered the Bacon Plant 2.0 vegan burger to takeaway with the rosemary salted fries. Overall a nice meal, vegan burger was impressive. Only thing I would say is that both the burger and chips were very salty and it overpowered the meal. There wasn’t much to counteract the amount of salt which ruined the taste a bit.

Visiting from Canada, we were pleasantly surprised by Honest Burgers in Reading. The food was fantastic—especially the vegan options—and the vibe was super welcoming.

Hands down the best burger joint in Reading. If you don't go for the perfect burger (a.k.a the "Chilli", which has a delicious jalepeño relish/mayo type sauce in it) then try to take advantage of the often delicious "limited time burgers" or the Reading branch exclusive burger. The staff are ALWAYS super friendly and helpful (big shoutout to Huw who is always great craic) I 'honstly' couldn't recommend it more if you're craving a good burger and fries.

Honest is my cheeky indulgence and the Reading venue are always very welcoming. Huw and his team are very passionate about providing excellent service and ensuring that everyone is well looked after and nothing too much trouble. I am a big fan of Honest as I love the fact that 90-95%% of their menu is gluten free which having an allergy means lots to choose from. The staff understand allergies and help me to stay clear of the very small part of the menu that is not suitable. I have always found the food to be fresh and served in a timely fashion so you can pop in for a quick burger fix or stay a little longer. Overall Honest burgers at Honest prices with very Honest (and lovely) staff.

Very good for a quick lunch. I walked in and it was a little tiny wait until I caught the server’s attention to seat me however with two staff working that day it’s understandable. I waited about 3/5 mins before a server came to take my order. Very quick which I appreciated because I was in a rush to eat, pay, and leave as I had plans. I order the Tribute burger, a can Diet Coke, and a side of BBQ Tenders. The burger cooked Medium was beautiful. A lot of flavour and none of the toppings/fillings overpowered the burger an issue you get with most places. The tenders were huge and I regret getting the 4 piece position as I could not finish them. I’m conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting or living in Reading. One of the best burgers I’ve had a while and everything is reasonably priced.. The burgers really are “honest”.

Finally had the chance to try the honest lunch, had a single smash butger with chips and a coke. Honestly great is all I have to say, I’m glad to have a new lunch spot if the food continues to be as good as I just got it. Burger tastes delicious and the chips are seasoned well and given in a large portion size. All for 9£ with a drink… I was asked about apparently a new thing of adding chips to a seperate bag instead of the burger box - I think it’s a great idea as the chips were still warm and crispy after a 10min walk home, not soggy and wet like they are from other places that add everything to the same box. Great place, great food, please keep the lunch deal on :D

Great spot for lunch had a top tier burger and the fries were seasoned in a way that was new and refreshing

Visited on Saturday evening with a friend and tried the New Chicken Spring Special which was amazing. Thanks to Huw and Team for wonderful service.

came in on Saturday night and although it was busy we had great service from the team and really enjoyed the food. Onion rings were spot on! Thanks to Huw and the rest of the team for making it such a great experience.

Best place in Reading for a burger

If your Muslim, don’t get there beef burgers, it’s not halal. I was stupid and assumed because uber eats says halal that it is. Hopefully honest burgers will better to advertise this on uber eats. Been thinking about their burgers and chips for a while only to have to give it up. Before anyone comes at me saying nobody is forcing me to go there, it’s the fact that they advertise it’s halal, when most of the food is not. I would just like for honest burgers to better make it known to their customers that not all their things are halal. Not everyone will scroll all the way to the bottom of the menu to the chicken products and try find if it has ‘halal’ written next to it…

My food came a bit late and so my food was super cold. Think it’s slightly more of an uber eats issue than honest burger but still I ordered the double smash burger and rosemary chips with onion rings, and the chips and onion rings were terrible. The chips were completely dry before and after putting in the microwave and onion rings tasted ok but were really greasy. The burger cold wasn’t terrible but after the microwave a lot of flavour was lost. Disappointing because I’ve had honest burger once before in Windsor and it was amazing.

Great burgers, including local ingredients, in a proper restaurant, with a selection of local and craft beers. All with friendly and efficient service. What’s not to like?

Honestly the best Burger place in reading you get what you pay for and that is a quality time amazing service and a great meal 😋 happy every time I visit

Me and my friends visited the restaurant at 1st of March in Peckham Rye. We were impressed with the quality of food. Delicious burgers, buffalo wings and chicken tenders! Fantastic food! Fantastic service! Would definitely come back !

Not too busy on a Tuesday, friendly service and a clean restaurant. Ordered a double Tribute Burger. Really good textured patties, American cheese and yellow mustard, good bacon, white onion and great pickles. Shredded lettuce. Weird accounting on the bill, attached. Really good skin-on chips, which like the burger patties could have used more salt, absent from the table. Overall a really good experience and solid burger. Only thing which let it down was the indifferent, pedestrian bun.

The burgers and beer were lovely but the onion rings stole the show. They were HUGE, overall a lovely dinner

Honest burger is one of my favourite places to eat out in reading, the food is always delicious and leaves you full and satisfied with great value for price. I would recommend the buffalo chicken burger with the rosemary chips as it’s my favourite. I also enjoy how there are new specials every so often in case you want to try something new.

PLEASE READ - I am a regular with Honest Burger and love the place for its food and exceptional service however I placed a collection order and arrived within 15minutes of ordering and had the Honest Burger, Onion Rings and chicken tenders - the tenders were dry, the chips didn’t appear fresh (like they’d been sitting a while) and no gravy available to compliment the feast - now I’m really not one for complaining especially when I enjoy the place but come on Honest Burger Reading get back to usual standards

The Reading branch quality is going down. The chicken burger was not up to the standards

Great food and service, the space feels a little cramped for bigger groups

Affordable, good presentation. The fresh coleslaw was vibrant in colour and taste. The onion rings were done in house, fresh and the herbs in the batter was a nice touch. The beef was seasoned well, I can only speak for the smashed burger, which was accompanied with a nice gherkin relish and butter mayonnaise (available to have on the side). Overall good experience, they also offer feedback and the chance to enter a £50 voucher draw. Immediately got an email with £5 off the next visit. Appeals to students well.

Came here for a work party and was disappointed. Large groups are difficult to handle for any restaurant but they did themselves no favours in organisation, or service during the meal. They'd come to each table and ask a person if they'd like another drink or if food was okay, then ignore the rest of the table and leave. Meaning large groups of us had to get up and go to the bar, which was unmanned. There was also a 10% cover charge on all drinks ordered at the bar which was undisclosed, only noticed when the price charged was different from the menu. Normally I'd expect this when billing large groups, but since I had to walk over to the bar myself, and take the drink back to my own table I do wonder what the 10% was even for? Food was slow to come out, again you expect this for a large group, but it was slow coming out in different stages. People had finished their mains before others had even gotten their first starter - on the same tables. Some orders were also totally forgotten. It was clear the staff were not prepared, but all the while happy to take money off the top for the "service".

Ordered a normal beef burger without bacon and got given a burger with bacon. As someone who can’t eat bacon this was unacceptable. Went back in and staff was rude and didn’t care and faked giving me a refund on my food. This was on the 16th of January. Will be escalating this to head office if nothing is done

Terrible service.. I requested a lactose free burger due to my intolerance. They let me know half way through eating my burger that it was in fact real cheese and brought me a replacement. They weren’t apologetic and didn’t even offer to take my meal off the bill. I would not recommend to anyone.

Eaten twice in honest, once in London now Reading. Reading staff really friendly, especially a male gentleman tonight, burgers amazing fries lovely just could do with being hotter maybe just me I like my food hot. But still 5 stars.

I had the pleasure of dining at honest burger recently, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. What truly set this restaurant apart was the impeccable service. A special mention to Huw, the restaurant manager, who ensured every detail was taken care of. Huw’s warm personality and thoughtful recommendations heightened my experience. The food was nothing short of outstanding. I opted for the Vegan burger alongside an alcohol free Lucky Saint adding another layer of enjoyment to my meal. If you’re looking for a great dining experience, I highly recommend. With Huw’s excellent management and the restaurant’s stellar offerings, this place is a true gem.

The best Honest burger! Great service, great food and great staff! I wanted to give a big shout out to Ferrin who is a credit to the restaurant. Knows us as regulars now and always has a lovely chat with us! We will be back soon😃

Great place with a nice atmosphere. I was welcomed by a male staff who is always very nice and helpful as I have been in this place few times and been served by him. Even tho I came early and it was not very busy the male staff kept himself very busy by restocking the drinks etc. During my visit he made sure everything is fine and I am ok. The restaurant is very big so it’s plenty of room to sit. There is Christmas decorations all over the place. My vegan burger was great as always. Great experience. Highly recommend for people who haven’t tried it yet. I don’t eat meat but heard the beef burger is great too, better than the chicken one.

Been to honest burgers a few times and can’t fault the quality of food or the service. Today the staff went above and beyond to make us feel cared for even though we were the ones who had made a mistake when reading the menu and ordered an item incorrectly. We will definitely be returning, albeit we will be ordering their Christmas chicken special, just without the bacon 😁

Had dinner here (autumn) - There were customers but not particular busy - unfortunately only found out they had a skeleton staff on that evening, once we'd been seated. We felt obliged to accept the waiter's seating us opposite the food preparation counter. Very noisy with constant traffic. (another couple came in, were sat next to us & then moved themselves elsewhere). We were also cold. Had a wait for drinks. Waited over 45mins for food. Other customers arriving after us, got served straightaway or shortly after their orders. We noticed deliveroo men coming in regularly to collect stuff. After some time, we realised it would have been quicker to have ordered our food via deliveroo app and have them deliver it to our table!!!! Food was tasty - not that special and not filling. Only came here out of curiosity having received a voucher. Not coming back any time soon. No desserts on menu. Went down the road to "Fluffy Fluffy" for takeaway dessert.

We always have an amazing time when we come to Honest Burger. Huw our server is always super friendly and goes out of his way to say hello and ask us how we are, keeps everything perfectly clean and up to standard. It makes such a difference to have a friendly person like Huw on front of house welcoming everyone.

Delivery is awful, really bad system. Food took 2hrs and was cold. Second time we have had issues. We won’t be using them again

Came here yesterday for a post-work meeting meal with some of our team and had such an incredible experience. The food was so delicious & the staff were really lovely. Ferin was an absolute gem and deserves so much praise. They gave us such a memorable experience and were just really sweet. Martin was also so great! We will definitely be back here again in future for another meal.

Burgers are very good with regular specials so there's always something new to try. Service is great. Also one of the few burger places that include the fries in the price (the way it used to be everywhere before COVID..)

The food at this restaurant is delicious, and I really enjoyed it on my first visit. However, during my second visit, I experienced poor service. One of the staff members displayed discriminatory behavior and was very rude to us. When we informed her that we were leaving, she didn't seem to care or acknowledge us. Unfortunately, this negative experience overshadowed the meal, and we ended up leaving without ordering.

The burger of the month now is something else it was amazing it was so good I couldn't recommend it enough !

My husband and I have been regulars here for some time and consistently have great food and equally great service. I especially appreciate that I’m able to get anything on the menu made gluten free. The staff are lovely and accommodating of larger groups. Highly recommend!

Food is always great, however recently they are neglecting the details. Food coming with modifications ignored etc. Definitely eat in, not click and collect. Ordered to collect at 6pm, arrive at 5.50pm and didn't receive my food until 6.25pm, despite being told it would be 5 minutes when I first arrived. Clearly need more staff!

Tried honest burger for the first time last night. The burgers and sides are top notch and are all priced reasonably. Catered for my gluten allergy perfectly, any burger can be made gf, and all the sides are gf by default!

Nice little burger bar good choice of burgers at a good price too. Food quality is actually really good only thing i could pick at is the onion rings were a little greasy. Service was pretty fast considering i visited on a Saturday dinner time. Will probably visit again.
