Cozy place, nice back garden with very cute beach style cabins. Great atmosphere overall, nice beer as well, not too pricey (£6 a pint). Can't comment on the food as I haven't had any, but I'll be back whenever I'm in Reading.

Charming waterside pub with friendly owners. The food was tasty and the portions generous. Our daughter played her piano for her dad’s 60th birthday (she brought the keyboard) and performed a song she’d written him. Our dog was welcome. Easy parking in their car park. Approx 10 mins walk from Reading along the tow path of the canal. Lovely steak.

Had a meal on Saturday evening ,so nice plus staff was lovely ,hope to see u soon 😘 😋

Been here more than once and the food quality is very poor. The bottled water tastes like metal, very weird. The pizza tasted rancid.

An absolutely lovely find. An eclectic menu of fresh food in a fun dog friendly bar with a friendly locals feel. We'll definitely be back!

Great pub just next to the canal and with space in and outdoors. Go there every other week to have a drink in the evenings, never tried the food, only the cookies which are great.

We had a lovely lunch sitting outside with a view of the canal. The food (Moroccan stew) was delicious, and served with a smile. The pub had a friendly dog to greet us at the door.

Had a coffee in passing, and a great chat with the landlady who was selling her home baked cakes. She gave the dogs some home made treats, I look forward to going back and having a pint and some food. Always a great stop for a relaxing pint in a fantastic setting only 10 mins walk down the canal from the Oracle.

Nice pub just In front of the canal. Very nice atmosphere but food and service are not as good as you would expect. Quite expensive for what you get. I would not recommend it.

By the banks of the Kennet River, I lost myself in the delight of a marvelous vegetarian burger and a refreshing golden ale.

Went for drinks. Fun place with local fiddlers playing! Lovely spot by the canal. If you can get the barman's attention ;) (He had earbuds in reading a book!)

Lovely location have been several times and not been welcomed, don’t ask for the umbrellas to go down, don’t bother if you want to sit in the sun

This place is a proper diamond in the rough. Great beer, great atmosphere and great service......the menu looked very interesting as well. We came down early evening on a beautiful sunny day and there was a real buzz about the place. Not sure I'd want to venture down after dark though as the area down by the canal feels a bit dodgy. Will def be back though.

Went with a party of 4 the food was bad, overcooked and felt like a rip off got 5 chicken strips in a wrap for £15. Horrendous.

Visited The Fisherman's Cottage on a walk round the canal. Was a beautiful day, so was very busy. Such a nice place with plenty of outdoor seating. We only had 1 drink but wish we could have stayed longer.

Lovely location, along the river Kennet with plenty of seating out the front facing the river or in the rear garden with beach huts, all with lights and heaters plus some other tables with umbrellas. They sell home made cakes, many of which are gluten and dairy free, Thai curries which are very spicy, pizzas which are really good, stir fries which taste amazing with loads of fresh vegetables, Turkish meatballs which are so tasty and other food too including a very large breaded chicken burger. The Thai Red chicken curry is so good, freshly made paste that morning so it was very spicy but I was offered extra coconut cream to cool it down, such a big portion with loads of chicken, if there is anything you don't like/can't eat just ask for it to be omitted and they are all made fresh to order. They do a Thai prawn curry too with absolutely masses of prawns so they are really good meals! The Moroccan stew was good, very liquid but very tasty, the Turkish meatballs are really tasty with a tomato based sauce on cooked aubergine and a big portion of rice. The carrot cake was amazing and we got a massive slice! The Mediterranean vegetable pizza with caramelised onion was massive and so good! The toilets are not the best, the hand dryer is far too high on the wall so the water can drip up your arm as you use it if you are not that tall, plus the air blows in your face while using it, but if you stand to the side it is easier. Other than that they are clean and tidy. Very friendly staff and amazing decor too! Would definitely go again! Oh and doggie friendly even having water bowls and dog food on a bar menu! We ordered two slices of Raspberry Cream cake which was dairy and I think gluten free, as you can see from the pictures they are massive slicesand I can say it was so good and light with fresh raspberries in the centre! We love it here! If you haven't already been I would put this on your list of places to go! Not only do people take their dogs along with them here, but also I saw a couple with their cat on a lead come in and sit by door. All animals it seems are very welcome!

Great looking pub, and good atmosphere, but ....terrible food and not very welcoming service. Moroccan stew consisted of vegetables floating in bisto gravy, I think I was sitting closer to Morocco than any of the ingredients. The lamb bhuna was a watery generic puddle of curry. To be fair at least it was prepared on site, but I don't think they should've bothered.

This restaurant is a favourite with all our family. Not only is it welcoming when you walk in the door but it is set beside the Kennet Canal. The food is freshly cooked and delicious and varied enough to suit all of our tastes. As a dog loving family, we are all crazy about dogs, and there is usually one or two well behaved canines to make a fuss of. Can't wait to go there again when the weather picks up so we can take our dogs along the canal walk and end up in the restaurant afterwards.

Nice location, but was poured 2 dodgy victoria Málaga beers and when I asked the barman if they were ok (tasted like the pipes weren't clean tbh) was told it was fine. So paid for 2 bad beers then left them. A shame as otherwise it seemed a nice place.

Attractive views and lovely atmosphere. Very friendly and welcomes dogs. Food exceptionally good and very reasonably prices. Will return soon.

Really lovely internal decor and the outdoor area of the pub is great in the summer! Haven’t ever eaten here but good selection of draught beers and good views.

Very nice place! What surprised me is that they have somersby cider on tap which you don’t see very often and so many real plants everywhere which never happens in places like this 😃 great location too by the canal. Now we need to come back to try their food!

I visited this riverside pub with colleagues for a quick lunch. There was a nice selection of food for vegetarians and we all enjoyed our meal. The views across the river are lovely and the decoration of the pub is interesting and modern. Will definitely visit again.

We visited this pub for the first time yesterday for lunch and enjoyed it very much. The pizza was amazing and service was very friendly . The landlord and landlady even gave my greyhound water and homemade treats. Very dog friendly pub and a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

A small but hidden gem, a short wall from the town centre. It has the feel of a real pub, crossed with a beach hut - light, relaxed but still traditional. Also a good number of draughts on tap.

I regularly go here with some of my friends for the biweekly pub quiz. It's a nice dog friendly pub that has it's own individual feel to it. The service is quite good I just wish the drinks were more competitively priced.

Lovely ambient, good food and helpful staff.

My partner & I have been here on three occasions - all of which the food was either mediocre or outright bad. The last occasion I ordered a pulled beef pizza and the meat was very burnt/tough/dry - apparently this is how pulled beef is according to the chef. In fact, I complained only to be met with a lot of judgement and tension. My complaint was not dealt with professionally. The prices are FAR too high for that quality of food. It’s a really pity because my partner & I LOVED the quiz nights and folk performances nights…. Its the kind of pub you use just for the bar.

We were there yesterday. Hot day but pizza and ciders were exactly what was needed- light, yet nourrishing. Just delicious. Highly recommend.

This is a dog friendly, cosy pub next to the locks in Reading. I went there to meet with new friends and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I saw someone else devouring a bowl of loaded potato wedges, and couldn't resist ordering my own. They were divine! There are picnic tables at the front of the pub, along the waterside, and there is a patio out the back beautifully decorated with beachhut booths with outdoor heaters in each one. 4 dogs were spotted inside last night and I'll be taking my own dog next time.

Friendly neighbourhood pub with not-fancy, tasty food (if you like fried things - the courgette fritters and crispy fried aubergine). The live music nights / daytime community jams and sing-alongs have a great vibe and really mixed crowd, so glad this place exists!

Always drifted past on our canal narrow boat. Finally had the chance to go inside. It didn't disappoint. Decent grub, pizzas, burgers, wraps, stir fry and curries. Good beers from Camden Brewery. Even got a dogs menu for your 4 legged friend.

Friendly, welcoming place to eat, drink and relax. I enjoyed a truly delicious Massaman curry, with a great flavour and heat. It's definitely *dog friendly*, even with their own home produced dog food. Don't be put off by the surroundings, it's located overlooking the Kennet and very pleasant. I would heartily recommend.

Superb pub with lovely owners. Good mix of beers and wines. Food is great too, Mediterranean small bites up to larger dishes, homemade cakes and desserts. Dog-friendly (and with home-made dog snacks available!)

I had lunch at The Fisherman's Cottage and don't really recommend the food :( Portion sizes were massive though- which is a plus point. Maybe I tried the wrong dishes which is why I didn't like the food but you can easily feed 2 people with 1 plate of food. The drinks were on point ! Great tap beer and fun cocktails at an affordable price. The customer service was decent - which means that I wouldn't return there by choice. The decorations were quirky and the place is dog friendly which is another plus point. They even make their own dog snacks (attached in pictures) and give your 4 legged friends a little bowl of water when you walk in. Great service for the dogs - I don't know if this is a good thing or bad thing :D

We went here on a Sunday to try their Sunday roast. We ordered their Sunday roast pork and Sunday roast Lamb. Other foods we ordered were loaded potato wedges topped with cheddar, bacon and jalapeno and also their Calamari. Calamari: a bit disappointed since there were only 6 pieces of it. Not worth the price, though. Sunday Roast Pork: at first, I was so excited to try their Sunday roast finally- it was served, and it was not what I was expecting. I feel like the colour of the pork was not appetizing at all; it was too bland to look at. I was not able to finish my order since I couldn’t enjoy it, not just with how it looked but Also, how it tasted. Sunday Roast Lamb: there was An aftertaste which was not enjoyable for us to eat. Loaded Potato Wedges: it was great! I loved it; it was tasty and made me want to order more. I enjoyed it, and by far, the best starter on their menu. 👍🏻 The venue is excellent. I love that they showed their love for dogs and they allow dogs in their resto. You can sit outside by the river view, inside or at the back, with cottage-like seating.

Food was good and fast, and the atmosphere on the inside feels like a comfy festival tent. And because there are different tables and chairs, everyone will find a place that they feel relaxed in. I quite liked it here

Stopped of for a quick coffee but ended up staying longer. Pleasant place, seems popular with good customer turnover. Pleasant staff and some decent music, not too intrusive. Nice rear garden and covered area. Also outside seating facing the river Kennet. Very nice

Won't be eating here again for the amount of money paid to the poor quality food dry salad no meat on lamb chops greasy wedges not good at all oh and I'm still hungry 🙄
